— Ace By the way, I don't agree that these statements are "misogynistic." They're crude (and, of course, unfunny) jokes from a never-was comedian. They're mean, but I don't take any of these words to be proof of misogyny.
But that is how the debate gets framed by the Outrage Squad. By their definition, Maher's remarks are misogynist.
So:

Most people, when they are accused of misogyny or racism based on their statements are merely using the most obvious profanity available.
When you are angry at a Black person, what's one of the first things that comes to mind for use as an insult? Same thing with a chick...or for that matter a guy.
It doesn't mean you are a racist; it means you have no imagination as an insulter.

The reason for this is that they know that that statement commits them to obtain the additional context and act accordingly. They know the media won't call them on this and all they have to do is wait it out silently. This failure of the media is the greater offense, and it's why the Obama at Harvard is a big deal, notwithstanding the intricacies over CRT.

Karl Rove comes through with the information I was curious about earlier. One of the co-bloggers should do a front page on this, with a link to his piece at karlrove.com. I'd do it, but I'm a Moron ya'know
The Obama campaign is hemorrhaging cash, and getting very little benefit for their spend rate. In January the campaign spent 158% of the cash it raised. If you look at each quarter, their spend rate is at least double the spend rate of the Bush 2004 reelection campaign.
When you further examine their spending patterns, they aren't spending the money on TV buys or other basic campaign efforts. Instead the money is being spent on campaign staff and fund raising venues. This becomes a vicious circle, where more and more money is being spent chasing smaller and smaller donations.
In short, this is yet another example of the serious trouble Obama is in. Despite never ending fundraisers, he is bringing in much less cash than he needs and it isn't being spent in a way that will help him win. In my opinion, his campaign knows they are going to lose, so they are just taking home paychecks for as long as they can.

Argh. There is a difference between misogyny and sexism. Most men love women, so they are not misogynists. But a lot of them are sexist. Maher's jokes are sexist because he says things about women that he doesn't and won't say about men. Unless he's called a lot of male politicians dicks and pricks and gigolos, he should'nt be calling women cunts and twats. And even there, the female terms are far more derisive and demeaning than the male terms. So you just shouldn't use them. They are sexist because they define women as basically having nothing to offer but our genitalia, while men are never derided in these terms.

Maher claimed it was out of bounds for Limbaugh to "attack" her bc she was the latter. Um, no. She wasn't. She really wasn't. She targeted that school and then volunteered to go do her little kabuki theater on Capitol Hill. She ceased to be a private citizen the second she VOLUNTARILY sat her fugly ass in front of those cameras.

Yeah, "cocksucker" is pretty bad. Nobody will use it in public nowadays to insult a man, though, because of the homosexual connotation. "Prick" used to be a really, really bad word - I am old enough to have been slapped by my father for using it in his presence. "Putz" and "schmuck" used to be about as bad as anything you could call someone if you were Jewish and understood Yiddish. Now they are used all the time. Of course, I never thought I would hear teenagers talking about vajayjays either, or hear the words "penis" and "vagina" spoken freely on TV. I guess it's all part of the continuing coarsening of the culture.
Maher obviously used the terms he used about Palin for their shock value, but he is one of many liberals who seem positively gleeful and deliberate about making sexual attacks on Sarah Palin. This is what I want him confronted about. There isn't any difference IMO between his "potty-mouth" attack and Newsweek running the cover picture of Palin in her running shorts. They're both sexist and should be out of bounds, ESPECIALLY for liberals who love to go on and on about equality between men and women. You simply cannot say you support equality while you turn Sarah Palin into a pinup and speak of her as a common whore with nothing to offer but genitalia for men to play with.

ThereÂ’s more to a woman than her vagina.
A fact we could forget if they'd just shut up for a minute.
Posted by: garrett at March 15, 2012 09:32 AM (dpExT)
Such language is worse by far than "slut," because the last is a behavior, and the insult of it works only if the person believes the behavior bad. That is, if I a woman is sexually promiscuous and considers that okay, then really she has little grounds to consider being called a slut particularly egregious. Few men, for example, would be offended if called "sluts."
OTOH, twat and cunt refer to exclusively feminine, definitional, immutable characteristics and connote them negatively (when used as epithets). The insult *is* saying you are a woman and not to be viewed as anything but a by-product of your organs.
That is not to be PC about the insult because in a particular situation a particular insult can be appropriate. For example, a woman using sex to manipulate her partner in a nonsexual area of their relationship might deserve such an epithet from her partner.
Nevertheless, these kinds of insults equate being female with something negative. I don't think misogyny can be completely divorced from them.

To some degree, yes, but Maher has no respect for women in general. I won't watch that jibbering monkey shit flinging circus of a show that he has now, but on the few times I caught Politically Incorrect his disdain for his female guests' opinions was pretty obvious, and he seems to have gotten worse. Which is funny, considering most women would kick the shit out of him.

This is actually quite effective against libs. Much like the aliens in Mars Attacks! whose heads exploded when confronted with the plaintive yodelings of Slim Whitman, libs shrink into themselves when ridiculed, scoffed at, and merrily laughed at. Don't bother engaging in a debate. They are irrational. Use their insecurities against them, and shut them up.

All I can say is I hear that "forbidden" word around where I live and work a lot. But no "whitey" dare use it. Irony. And the training/conditioning of the bulk of the population goes on apace. "That" word is very nervous-making.

Maher is an asshole not because of his dumb jokes or the names he calls people. Maher is an asshole because he's a despicable person with little of value to offer anyone. He's a waste of flesh. Who cares what he says about anyone?
This is what is killing America. We have adopted the left's rules (look at how people are reduced to writing infantile things like "the n-word" .. I mean ... What. The. Fuck. It's just a word. America used to understand "Sticks and Stones") and now some are getting turned on by thought of expanding those ridiculous rules to anyone and everyone. This is awful and this problem has only been getting worse with conservatives thinking they can jump on leftist rules (NEVER a good idea) and make some minor win over nothing while further embedding these insane, anti-progress, anti-human rules deeper into our culture. Sad.

Liberal Hypocrisy Syndrome® has reached epidemic proportions. ....The symptoms include:
• Misogynistic slurs towards conservative women, resembling Tourettes syndrome.
• Selective outrage in condemning things that conservatives do or say....while giving liberals a pass for doing or saying the same things for years.
• Selective enforcement of laws....using the laws on the books to prosecute conservatives, while ignoring any infractions committed by liberals.
There are probably other symptoms that I am failing to think of at the moment....feel free to add any that I have missed.

The point of a post I made upthread. The left has won so much already. We play by their rules mostly, and certainly publicly.

177 Question: Why was it so wrong for Rush to call Fluke a slut? They don't seem offended by a word that's even worse than slut.
Remember all those SlutWalks last year? .....I thought that the whole point of those things...was to declare that "We have the right to be as slutty as we wanna be!"
They even wore the word "SLUT" painted across their chests.
Seems like another symptom of Liberal Hypocrisy Syndrome® to me.

No, Mega Indy.....that about covers it.
And your question about the Secret Service covered events? ....I dunno, maybe that is an expansion of that HR 347 bill that Barky signed last week. ....See comment no.20 in the Media Matters thread.

It's a strange expansion, though and one I would not expect to have R support in the House. Clearly it's something the D's want when their guy is in power. Maybe they believe he'll be in there for life.
