In a conference call with reporters Tuesday, two senior State Department officials gave a detailed accounting of the events that lead to the death of Amb. Chris Stevens and three other Americans. The officials said that prior to the massive attack on the Benghazi compound by dozens of militants carrying heavy weaponry, there was no unrest outside the walls of the compound and no protest that anyone inside the compound was aware of.In fact, Stevens hosted a series of meetings on the compound throughout the day, ending with a meeting with a Turkish diplomat that began at 7:30 in the evening, and all was quiet in the area.
"The ambassador walked guests out at 8:30 or so; there was nobody on the street. Then at 9:40 they saw on the security cameras that there were armed men invading the compound," a senior State Department official said. "Everything is calm at 8:30 pm, there is nothing unusual. There had been nothing unusual during the day outside."
Meanwhile, the State Department denies they tried to link the Innocence of Muslims video to the attack.
You don't say. Well that makes Ben Howe's excellent video timeline even more interesting, doesn't it?

There is still a LOT being obfuscated. What was Stephens doing in Benghazi? What were the SEALS doing there (separately)?
Did the local security team sell them out to Al Queda? Did they fight or flee? Where are survivors from that night now and what do they have to say?
What about all the BS surrounding the FBI not being able to get to the site for 3 weeks.
Why was one of Barky's first moves to try to give Libya $150 million? (that is damning; who's he trying to pay off?)
Why would O/Hillary reduce security after repeated requests and security threats? It defies even extreme incompetence.

I don't think so, the events happened way too fast for that kind of prepared strategy. Within 24 hours of the Benghazi attack the admin knew it was an Al Queda terrorist attack but they tried to hide that. The video was just a rushed, convenient excuse. Events were moving very fast and all the key people were extremely busy. If they want to attack the 1st A, this is not how they'd go about it.

I just watched clips of CBS and NBC reporting and they're brutal. Over 200 security threat incidents in Behghasi (or Libya, not sure) in the previous year. Some of what they report still has holes in it, but Obama is going down, no way he survives this.
Also, there was a conference call with the media but they "accidentally" left FNC off the call. Greta posted some notes another member of the media shared with them. Apparentely Issa is on her show tonight, ahead of tomorrow's hearings.

Hell - we all knew it was a terrorist attack within a couple of days, too. That came from R and D congressmen, both, who had been briefed about it.
The WH dreamed up a complete fabrication, with the story they told. It's not illegal, though, as far a I know, and neither is the shocking, seemingly willful incompetence regarding the lack of security. But the voters - and the Romney campaign - should be told, and act accordingly. Obama gave us a blatant lie about this, just as he blatantly lied about "You didn't build that" being "out of context".

On the John Bachelor show just now (ABC radio), they were talking about this. The "No Quarter" guy said that the State Department is now AT WAR with the White House: complete with highly placed officials coming forward to go on the record about the Benghazi assault and the dereliction of duty of BO, Hillary, and Patrick KENNEDY at STate who refused the Libya embassy's pleas for weapons and security guards for MONTHS before the attack.
The State Department is At WAR with the White House. Well, it's about fucking time.

339: I also read a while ago and heard on Special REport that there were NO demonstrations in Benghazi, but that was not repeated by the MSM since it completely undermined the Obama/Clinton/Rice spin.
This newly released fact that things were so calm that Amb. Stevens was hosting meetings during the afternoon really unravels the coverup.

I wish now I could remember where I read it, but there were rumblings that Stevens was supposed to be captured, so that Obama could sweep in and score a foreign policy win by exchanging the Blind Sheik for the hostage Ambassador. The SEALs showing up (remember they werenÂ’t part of StevensÂ’ entourage or security) made the terrorists think they had been betrayed, so they killed the four men they did.
I don’t know how credible the idea is, but supposedly that’s why Obama went to bed unconcerned, it was only to be a “mere” kidnapping that he would resolve in the morning.
The really sad thing is, with all the other brazen, tone-deaf, and arrogant/illegal things this Administration has done, I canÂ’t just dismiss the entire idea as absurd and laugh it off. I can really see them at least conceiving of something like this.
