— Ace Punchy.
Savile was cheerfully unburdened. Rather than a celebrity who happens to be a pedophile, he seems to have been a pedophile who became a celebrity in order to facilitate being a pedophile. Robbers rob banks because that's where the money is. In the Sixties, Savile became a star disc jockey in Britain's nascent pop biz because that's where the 14-year-old nymphettes are. In the Seventies, he became a kiddie-TV host because that's where the nine-year-old moppets are. He became a celebrity volunteer with his own living quarters at children's hospitals and homes because that's where the nine-year-olds too infirm to wiggle free or too mentally ill to protest are. He persuaded various institutions to give him keys to the mortuary because that's where the nine-year-olds unable even to cry out are. (Stoke Mandeville Hospital is now investigating whether he "interacted inappropriately" with corpses.)
Steyn doesn't really write about what I'm really interested in-- which is the vicious weakness and malevolent cowardice of the BBC staff and British governmental establishment which enabled serial pedophilia and serial pedophilic rape for four decades.
I'm not terribly interested in Savile, the Pedophile Rapist. I assume that such types are operating in our society at all times.
It's not the single pedophile rapist that fascinates and sickens me -- it's hundreds of people in a position to act who nevertheless facilitate the ongoing rapes and molestations, because -- why? Why exactly? It's good for their career? They've got an eye on a rather minor promotion and they don't want to jeopardize it by bringing up this whole "rape" business?
Why?
We saw this at Penn State. But Penn State's football program was small, and everyone knew each other. It was intimate.
Here we have a pedophile -- and actually, a pedophile who frequently made jokes (not so much jokes as cocky admissions) about having sex with underage girls -- who was reported to the police several times. And who literally hundreds of people worked around, and were therefore in a position to notice little things like him going up to his office, or out to his Sex Caravan, with underage girls.
Here we have a man suspected of pedophilia being given the keys to a children's hospital -- and I don't mean that metaphorically. I mean he asked for, and was given, his own set of keys to the place, to all the wings, to the places where the mentally handicapped girls were. And his own office in the place, too. And Bedrooms Too: His own bedrooms in multiple children's hospitals. Because... he had to nap? Thanks to Tasker.
Because he was a Celebrity. And did some fundraising. I have never heard of a fundraiser who needed the keys to the secure wings of a children's hospital, though.
No one seemed to ask why he couldn't raise children's spirits - or whatever he claimed -- during normal daylight working hours when there were witnesses around. No one asked why he needed keys to access wings once they were shut down for the day and the children were sleeping and there were only a few nurses to keep an eye out over the whole place.
Apparently children especially need some spirit-raising at night, when they're sleeping.
What sort of vicious weaklings does the BBC hire? What sort of malevolent cowards are attracted to that organization?

This isn't a story about Sevile or even the BBC. It's about the NHS.
No private hospital in the US would even think of handing over a set of keys to such a man or leaving a non-employee alone with kids. Wouldn't even give it a thought. They'd be held liable if he managed to sneak in by breaking a window and knocking out the guards, let alone giving him the key.
But the NHS? Meh, what do they care?

Remember the BBC is a defacto arm of the UK government Citizens are under threat of prosecution if they don't pay BBC fees.
State controlled media is corrupt by definition.
I can only hope that this mess makes the UK peeps a lot less trusting in their Ministry of Ministries.

We are living in a society that glamourizes celebrities. I believe its why we have the President that we do. It is deplorable and as the Bible says, 'it will be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and drowned in the deepest sea' Matthew 8:6. This includes the abusers and the enablers that allow them to continue to abuse.

When I think of various criminals, I can see myself committing similar crimes.
Bank robbery? Sure. Not really my cup of tea but....
Murder? It's not out of the realm of possibilities.
Banging a nine year old? That is on the other side of a very thick, obvious, uncrossable line. Just wander over to your kid's grade school during recess and try to imagine it. The reaction is immediate, visceral and unpleasant.
That's why these people are called monsters: because they really ARE monsters.

Leftism is a mental disorder; people espousing it ( believing in it and devoting their lives and careers to the Left ) are damaged, sick, dysfunctional people who should at least be fired and shunned--or killed, as an act of Mercy
Ban me if you want, but our civilization will die unless leftists are either completely banned from ANY position of influence, or killed
Their goal--their actual, ultimate goal--is to imprison or kill us. Every. single. one of us.

This is a manifestation of the mantra of 'Let Authority (Police, Fire) take care of any problem.... don't get involved.... let someone ELSE take care of it...
Let those idiot Soldiers protect our country... Let Police protect us... because we are trained in school that getting involved gets us in trouble... that violence even in self defense gets you suspended...
Thus, it leads to a non involved Populace... one who is so trained to be helpless... that when even great evil confronts them, they are clueless as to how to confront it.... and also IMO manifests into low voter turnouts (because people feel powerless).
Many people 'knew' about this pedophile... yet they all were waiting for 'someone else' to stop it...

Some UK morons might know better, but it would seem to me that much of the British public figured that this guy was a "man's man".
My theory is that he cultivated the "eccentric" look to make people think he was gay. Two reasons: (1) no one would suspect him if he was too close to girls and (2) people wouldn't ask questions about his sex life.
Kind of a BBC version of don't-ask-don't-tell.

The NCAA needs to instigate a nation-wide review of all the coaching staffs at all of these schools. They need to question the staff and athletic departments thoroughly. The influence that the athletic departments have at these schools is immense and never questioned due to the large amounts of money they generate.
In my opinion, the entire athletic department at Penn State should have been wiped out completely and not allowed to reform for at least 10 years. But, that didn't happen - which just compounds the crimes already committed.

#97 No, because Penn State had Graham Spanier as its President, and Spanier is pretty much a professional sexual libertine. Before he got into administration he wrote several papers and articles on sexual freedom and one was on wife-swapping. He was considered on the "cutting edge" as an academic. I'm convinced he knew all about Sandusky and saw nothing wrong whatsoever with his "alternative lifestyle."
Pedophilia is not considered immoral in many elite circles in Europe and in the US; it's just kept quiet because they know us plebes still do not approve. I believe Jimmy Savile and Jerry Sandusky are just the tip of the iceberg, and both were known and tolerated by superiors who saw nothing wrong with their behavior at all. Hollywood is full of pedophiles; the stories have leaked out about some very famous child stars being sexually abused by directors and studio execs. The names of the abusers are being kept secret, but I wonder how long that will last.
Once we accept gay marriage, the next effort will be to lower the age of consent to 14, or to abolish it altogether. Mark my words. The elites are pushing gay marriage for a reason, and it isn't because it's the civil rights issue of our time. It's the gateway to legalizing adult-child sexual relationships.

If you wind up with supervised visits only, will you have to pay for the supervisor every time you want to see your daughter? You might find that out, and factor that into what the longer term cost of losing would be to you. Not to mention the general suckitude of not being free to go and do things with your kid on occasion.

Joffen,
Everyone here is on your side and wants the best for you, but you might want to back down on this one.
You did go through a bad time there and it's not totally clear if everything is 100% fine now. Not the type of uncertainty a court wants to put a child into. Accept the custody arrangement and tell the court that, at some point in the future, you would like the opportunity to amend the order to include unlimited visitation.
Especially without a good lawyer, keep yourself in a good light now so that it's easier in the future when you're ready to make an argument.

Get a letter, or better, an affidavit if possible, from your doctor in which he/she states that you are healthy, not a danger to yourself or others, possess all of the necessary physical and mental characteristics to be an excellent parent, etc.
If you are being denied visitation based on an allegation from your ex-wife that you have emotional problems, the judge "should" defer to the testimony of an expert.

We saw this at Penn State. But Penn State's football program was small, and everyone knew each other. It was intimate.
___
Not so intimate when you consider that one of the Board of Trustees was the PA Governor, Ed Rendell, who was in a position to more thoroughly investigate the allegations and news percolating up from Happy Valley.
After the Sandusky dust settled, it came out that one of Rendell's major Democrat operatives from Philadelphia turned out to be a career pedo and Friend of Jerry:
Eddie Savitz.

Seriously? I'm going to assume you're not being serious. You had an assistant coach that observed Sandusky raping a young boy in the shower and reported it to his boss (Joe Paterno). It was also reported to the Athletic director and to campus police - none of which chose to take any corrective action. The last time I checked, the Athletic Director also runs the football program.
While I agree, he gained access to the boys via the kids camp, he was able to do so as an upstanding member of a large university's athletic department.
These crimes occurred and were ignored especially because of the Penn State athletic department. Therefore, the entire department should have been wiped out. While I admit this would have been grossly unfair to the young men and women involved in the program, it would have been a very small price to pay for the crimes the school was directly involved in perpetuating.

I have a friend who went pro se in a NY custody battle with an ex-wife. All the lawyers he contacted told him it was a stone loser as she was accusing him of molestation as a tactic and not to waste his money.
He spent a LOT of time learning the applicable law, court procedures, etc. and eventually WON. Apparently he was the first male pro se petitioner to actually win a custody battle in NY in a very long time.
BUT he had solid ammo. The ex-wife had been taking BF's home and banging them in front of the kid and spending child support money on exotic lingerie for the BF's, and the kid wouldn't validate any part of the ex's abuse claims.
You will have to destroy her to win. If you're not mentally prepared to do that, or lack the necessary evidence to do it, you'll lose.

Disagree on why the "elites" are pushing homosexual marriage, though. I think they view it as a good way to undermine the nuclear family, which is and always has been the biggest single impediment to imposing communism.
(See the kibbutz movement, an experiment in pure socialism, which foundered as such largely because women did not want to be separated from their children. Out goes barracks, in comes single family houses, and now it's everyone looking out for his own family. End of socialist bullshit.)

Anything that SCOTUS has said about the standard to be applied before parental rights may be abridged will already be baked into the cake. The "cake" is the body of state law that specifies in detail when and how parental rights can be limited or terminated. Presumably, the judge will already be way more familiar with these than you are. The only response you're likely to get by arguing about your constitutional rights is eye-rolling and you don't need to gratuitously antagonize the person who's going to decide this.

#211 That's a lot of partisan bullshit aimed at stirring up innuendo about Corbett to hurt his reelection campaign in 2014. Corbett's said that while he was investigating the case they only had one boy that had come forward, and that was not enough to convict Sandusky. They needed to find a pattern and corroboration or it would just be one kid's nword agains Sandusky's. Once Corbett became Governor he was still sworn to secrecy about the case. Good grief, he was the first AG to open a child sex crimes unit in the AG's office.
There is a lot of butthurt among state Democrats that (a) Corbett was elected Governor, and (b) that he got to take credit for beginning the investigation of Sandusky and then for forcing Spanier and Paterno to be fired. Also a lot of diehard Penn Staters despise Corbett because he ruined Paterno and damaged the football program. They would love to see the entire investigation tainted, even if it means manufacturing a case that Corbett was either incompetent or compromised by big donors who were Penn Staters.

Did the court have you evaluated? Has your psychologist written a report on your behalf that you could submit that states you pose no threat to your daughter? Does your ex have a report from a psychologist that states otherwise? If so, have you gotten a copy of that report and had your doc read it and respond to it. Was there a social worker? Is there a guardian ad litem (GAL) for the kids? What does the GAL say? What do your kids want? Depending on their age, their testimony can be invaluable. And if she is trying to turn them against you, and you can show that, that helps you.
Do you have friends who will testify on your behalf? What do you have on your ex that is damaging to her (drunk driving convictions, etc.)?

Years ago a local talk host interviewed a cop who went undercover on NAMBLA. He described the vast network of pedos who hid in plain sight - because they hold positions of esteem in the community. They had booklets and leaflets they used to distribute to each other instructing how to attract children, how to groom them, how to introduce them to the pleasures of sex with hairy old pussy-bitch-men-monsters years before their little bodies were prepared for these acts.
This was at least a decade before the advent of the internet, imagine how much more easily these beasts can now ply their trade. And the higher the positions of power they hold, the more of a cudgel against exposure. Because anyone who discovers their activities could end up seriously compromised.

That's a fine opinion, but you have to realize that it's a prescription for permanent political marginalization. This is so fringe, so ridiculous, that I can't believe anybody takes it seriously, much less declares "bang spot on". If political alienation to the extreme is the plan, to somehow justify an armed revolt of some sort, that's the only way supporting this makes any sense at all. And even then, it's barely there intellectually, morally or politically. Does anybody here think anything less than the homosexual=pedophilia analogy is appeasement to gays/liberals? If so, the GOP is dead in the house in two years. You can "mark my words" on that.

She won by a pretty healthy margin.
Recall though, that Corbett won election to AG while Fast Eddie was governor. Maybe part of the dumbass AG-elect's constituency was that oh so sophisticated voter that likes to have "balance" in Harrisburg.
But I do believe the mob wants Corbett's head for allegedly slow-walking the Sandusky investigation. Corbett didn't even get it until 2009 when the Clinton County DA didn't want to touch the hot potato and rolled it to him. I even heard Steve Martorano, a way lib talk show host defend him. The NYT wrote an article describing all the pitfalls and obstacles Corbett had to overcome during the investigation. It really isn't easy to get sex abuse victims to come forward in any scenario, especially when the perp is so close to the legendary JoePa.
Unless Corbett does something to really make a positive mark on this state and its voters in the next two years, I hope Castor primaries him and wins. Because in a media-savvy world, Castor is younger, cuter, and more articulate. (and accomplished, as well).

Once we accept gay marriage, the next effort will be to lower the
age of consent to 14, or to abolish it altogether. Mark my words. The
elites are pushing gay marriage for a reason, and it isn't because it's
the civil rights issue of our time. It's the gateway to legalizing
adult-child sexual relationships.

This is why we lose elections, Rockmom. Speaking of "gateways" put down the "rock" pipe. Go back to being "mom".

Yeah rockmom's the problem; it doesn't have a fucking thing to do with nominating unelectable turds like McRINO and Willard. And having complete retards for voters. But please keep blaming rockmom because throwing around shit like that does a lot of fucking good.
