Sunday NFL Thread [OregonMuse]

I think Dave In Texas is still at the AoSHQDD strategy meeting, so this afternoon's NFL Thread won't be up to his usual high standards.

When he comes to, maybe he'll stop by and say 'hi'.

47 Retired CIA officer Gary Berntsen believes help could have come much sooner. He commanded CIA counter-terrorism missions targeting Osama bin Laden and led the team that responded after bombings of the U.S. Embassy in East Africa. “You find a way to make this happen,” Berntsen says. “There isn’t a plan for every single engagement. Sometimes you have to be able to make adjustments. They made zero adjustments in this. They stood and they watched and our people died.” from JWF Benghazi article in the side bar. They watched the attack live, and did nothing. Sent no help. Saw no protest. Saw the attack and the likely dragging of Stevens body through the streets. And. Did. Nothing. Oh, except lie about it. I have no doubt the JEF saw it and made the call to do nothing. No doubt

51 I know there are some troops in Italy.  Some kind of African anti-terror command.  Various assets which move in and out of the Middle East.  All of them close enough to use something like an Osprey.  Rescue by special operators seems to be one of its most logical uses.   Italy to Benghazi by Osprey can't take very long.

52 The Roanoke Times, which has not endorsed a GOP candidate for President since I don't remember, today announced that they were changing their policy on endorsements in Presidential races. They will not be making an endorsement this year to focus on the House and Senate races. This is a paper that in 08 endorsed Obama and McCain in the primaries, then couldn't wait to endorse Obama for President because of McCain's "extreme views".

When this paper can't find a reason to endorse Obama, it's game over.

111 HOLY SH!T!

COLUMBUS DISPATCH ENDORSES OBAMA ROMNEY

Obama has failed. That is why Mitt Romney is the preferred choice for president. RomneyÂ’s adult life has been spent turning around troubled private and public institutions. These turnarounds include scores of companies acquired and restructured by Bain Capital, the investment firm he founded in 1984. Not all were successes, but that is because to a significant degree, many of the companies Bain took on were high-risk. In 1999, he was asked to take over the scandal-plagued and fiscally mismanaged 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. He quickly streamlined its management, fixed its finances and guaranteed its security, turning it into a success. As governor of Massachusetts, he made tough decisions to lead the state out of a budget deficit, and he did so in a state dominated by Democrats.

As a career businessman and former governor, Romney brings a wealth of executive experience in the private sector and the public sector that dwarfs that of Obama. From working both sides of the government/private-sector equation, he understands how that relationship can aid or impede prosperity. His election would be an immediate signal to the private sector that someone who knows what he is doing is managing the nationÂ’s economic policy. The effect on business confidence would be dramatic and immediate, and business confidence is the vital ingredient needed to spur investment and hiring, the two things that the United States so desperately needs.

In 2008, Americans made a leap of faith when they elevated the inexperienced Obama to the White House. That faith was not rewarded. This time, voters should place their hopes for change in experience, by electing Romney.

Obama not only has lost a LOT of supporters but he has a huge enthusiasm gap. The unions will have to drag him over the edge  in the rust belt but I am seeing them have second thoughts on him as well.

The only base he has left are hard core Democrat Party members and Northern inner city blacks.  He has lost Southern blacks who gave him NC and VA (along with cons sitting it out)
