Team Obama: You Know, We Can Win Without Ohio
— Ace

Via Instapundit, Obama's firewall may be on fire.

[E]ven if Obama loses Ohio, his campaign sees another pathway to the presidency by nailing New Hampshire, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nevada and Colorado.

The first rule of Losing Ohio Club is you don't talk about Losing Ohio Club.

By the way, it will be very hard for Obama to win three of those states (NH, IA, and CO). Colorado, especially, leans to Romney now.

The others are tossups... for now.

Why would Obama be talking about alternate routes to victory not including Ohio?

Obviously, I think, they don't think Ohio is safe. And to talk about losing it... I think they think they're behind.

I saw Sam Stein report on Twitter something I've been thinking about: Romney is pondering saving some of his ad money in order to buy a multinetwork uninterrupted 30 minute block of time for a long-form appeal, like Obama did in 2008.

I don't know. I like the idea of it. I'm just worried about the downside of it (you can't spend that money on tons and tons of ads).

There's one more bit of goofiness I can add to this: The media is already building narratives for Why Obama Lost.

Want to know why? Because, three different liberal writers claim, the media is biased against Barack Obama.

Ah, well, not against Barack Obama per se, but in love with the idea of a Dramatic Storyline, and the storyline of Obama cruising to an easy victory just wasn't exciting enough. So the liberal media made up Mile High Massacre -- just made it up! Romney didn't really shellack him! -- and has run with that story ever since.

Now, if the media loves a good Comeback story, you'd also think they'd love the Obama Comeback story. So why aren't they writing that?

Well, the writer doesn't explain, except to say the media are prisoners of their own Narrative, and their current Narrative is "Romney gaining," so they're sticking with that.

There it is again: the trajectory! We will not let it go. It doesnÂ’t matter if we have failed in achieving many of the basics of campaign coverage, like getting a candidate to cough up a critical mass of tax returns, release his bundler list, and account for his proposals and position shifts with a minimum of detail and coherence. No, we have our trajectory. And dammit, weÂ’re sticking to it.

Like I said: He doesn't explain why. Just asserts that the media, which, frankly, would have gay sex with Obama (even the women in the media would prefer the sex with Obama to be gay sex with Obama), is so in love with this Romney Gaining "trajectory" that they just can't see the real story.

And the real story is, of course, Obama Gaining.

When conservatives spend their time complaining about media bias, we're losing.

When liberals spend their time complaining about media bias, they're collapsing.

Because, seriously, this is the stupidest shit I've ever read and I've read The DaVinci Code.

7 Of course Obama is losing Ohio. Is there one poll that has shown him at 50% lately? It doesn't matter if he's ahead of Romney by 5 points, as long as that number is now 47-42 Romney wins. Obama will get 47% in Ohio, just like the national popular vote.

16 Yes, they can win w/o Ohio. In fact, it might end up happening. McCain lost 5 states by 6 points or less: OH, FL, VA, IN, and NC. If Mitt flips all 5 states and wins all the rest of the states won by McCain, he ends up with just 259 EV's.

18 the media is biased against Obama? Well, I recall the same sort of Reality Based Communitards saying the same thing about how Bush won twice against much better candidates: the media is owned by Big Business, and we all know that Big Business in in Bed with the Bepublicans. Maybe the Media understand they get bigger audiences when they're trashing the President than when they're kissing his butt.

38 Who in the campaign is sputtering this nonsense? Steffi, she of the lying mouth and huge chin? This wreck of a campaign has hit the iceberg in the middle of the night, but the band will play on as if nothing has happened, right up until that big bustle of a stern gets hoisted skyward, and then down she will go, into the icy deep. It will make a lot of creaking and groaning noise as it does its death pirouette and plunge, and the noises will begin to drown out the band. Next time you see Ms Cutter in front of a camera, imagine her as a guy, buzz cut, some nice tats on his guns, wearing a sleeveless NFL jersey, pads, nightblack smeared under his eyes, the middle linebacker for some team after a night game, talking for the reporter. She's got the face for it.

100 OT:
The $50 Lesson
Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you...were President what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied... "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride! "Wow...what a worthy goal!" I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!" I told her. "What do you mean?" she replied. So I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house." She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?" I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party." Her parents aren't speaking to me anymore.

Where the fuck did the general idea come from that reasonably solid republican states - like Ohio, North Carolina, Nevada and Virginia - were suddenly hotbeds of liberalism?

Yes, these states voted once in a "historic" election to put a black dude into the White House, but that doesn't mean that the meme the media created - that these states have suddenly seen the light and embraced the truth - is real.

On top of that, why would everyone ignore the fact that two years later, anyone remotely resembling a democrat was thrown out of every office in these states?  Did all these newly minted liberals who voted for Obama have temporary insanity?

Romney is going to win by a landslide and take states that the pundits haven't dreamed of.

176 Woman rams vehicle outside Walter Reed By Erin Tucker - The Associated Press Posted : Tuesday Oct 23, 2012 15:02:45 EDT BETHESDA, Md. — A Virginia woman is in custody after police say she rammed her car into a vehicle outside the entrance of Walter Reed Hospital. Police say an officer at the hospital shot at the woman's car after the collision Tuesday morning but did not strike her. The officer was injured, apparently when he used a baton to strike the woman's car. Montgomery County Police spokesman Paul Starks identifies the woman as Angela Akosua Kobbold from Manassas. Stark says she is being treated and charges are pending. Stark says earlier Tuesday, Kobbold's car had been spotted going more than 90 mph on Interstate 66 in Virginia. He says officers also received a report that the woman was seen eating a bar of soap. The woman never got on the base.

The 'corn subsidies' screw the public....twice.

First, by causing an inflated price for Corn...which affects our Protein Producers too.

They feed their cows, chickens and pigs, corn.

Second, by causing the price of Gas to be higher.

And even moreso recently...because of the new requirement to add an ethanol ingredient that isn't even available yet in sufficient numbers for the refineries to comply!

So the refineries are being fined...and having to add that to the price too.

There might be two states in the union that are more conservative than mine, so there's absolutely no way, no how it goes Democrat. Most down ticket races there isn't even a Democrat challenger - it's free rides for the incumbent Republican.

This tells me that the GOP is so energized and funded that it can waste some time and money on areas/voters who are guaranteed already to go GOP. The preference cascade is setting things up for a subsequent landslide.

The whole 'Corn Subsidies/Ethanol' thing was a bad idea.

It 'sounded good' to some people...so that's why they ran with it.

But it was a monumentally bad idea.

299 One thing I know from a whole lot of poker playing is that people who aren't playing for real money play like sh*t because they've got nothing to lose. So if you REALLY want to know what's going down, you don't look at polls -- questions asked by people with slants and answered by people with no horse in the game -- you look at election markets. IEM has predicted correctly predicted every election since 1988. InTrade, a newer entry into the scene, predicted all 50 states for the extremely close 2008 elections. Especially interesting is BetFair, based out of the UK, which is inaccessible to US speculators due to the UIGEA. It's interesting because it has Obama waaaaay ahead, begging the question of whether Romney surrogates are inflating his chances in the US-based markets. I could go into how if Romney wins, you still lose but ...you knew that ...didn't you? Haha. But don't let the facts stop you, PLEASE, keep talking yourselves into believing this is still a race. It's free entertainment for we Obama supporters. (popcorn) Wins (InTrade) [1] Obama: 56.8%, Romney: 43.2% Electoral College (InTrade) {270 to win} [2] Obama: 281, Romney 248 Wins (Iowa Electronic Markets (IEM)) [3] Obama: 57.5%, Romney: 42.0% Wins (BetFair) [4] Obama: 65.79%, Romney: 35.46% [1] http://www.intrade.com/v4/misc/scoreboard/ [2] http://www.intrade.com/v4/misc/electoral-map/ [3] http://iemweb.biz.uiowa.edu/quotes/Pres12_quotes.html [4] http://sports.betfair.com/?mi=21311313&ex=1&origin=POD

336 Mitt Romney crossed a major threshold early this week, moving above 50 percent in his favorability rating with voters, according to the Real Clear Politics average of polls — and for the first time in the campaign he now leads President Obama on that measure. The Republican presidential nominee has clearly benefited from the debates. He had a 44.5 percent favorability rating at the end of September, before the debates. But by Monday, when he and Mr. Obama faced off for the final debate of the campaign, Mr. Romney’s favorability average was up to 50.5 percent. Tom Jensen, director of Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, said Mr. Romney’s favorability surge “really has been remarkable.” It's not only that PE Romney comes across as a decent guy, but that obama is coming across as the nasty thin skinned cock sucking spoiled child that he always was

363 Here's an Iowa data point.  My little rural town went for Bush in 2000 and 2004 and McCain in 2008, however, before the 2008 election there were very few McCain/Palin yard signs.  There were many Obama/Biden signs.  It seems the helium is out of the enthusiasm balloon with regard to Hope and Change, and and at this point I have not seen a single Obama sign in our town of 3000 or so people. There are TONS of local and state candidate yard signs for both parties' candidates, all over town but NOT ONE SINGLE OBAMA SIGN TO BE SEEN ANYWHERE.   I think we are heading for a seismic shift here.

No, what was "remarkable" is that Obama got away with painting a moderate Republican, who got elected in fucking Massachusetts ferchrisakes, as some sort of detached Frankenstein knuckle dragger who'd make Birchers look liberal.  THAT is what's remarkable, and it demonstrates the power of the pro-Obama media.

Just a few hours of uncensored, unfiltered, direct exposure to the guy in the debates was all it took to rip down that whole faux perception...and in the process plant the suggestion that maybe Obama and his minions haven't been entirely truthful with people.

438 if Va were safe for either side, why are they here every day?  Tagg Romney will be in South Hill Virginia (pretty daggone rural) tomorrow

439 yall gone to another thread haven't you?

440 He's right, in theory he could win without Ohio. Just not this year.

Idiot.

Let's not be too hard on Soros's minions.  I needed the reminder that the November dollar for 43.2 cent sale ends soon.  WTF is Irish anti-terror money laundering law anyways?

442 @439 Twisting the dagger would be my guess. While being demographically 40% African-American (self-identified) South Hill usually goes 60% Republican. Maybe some of our brothers and sisters there remember the Civil War, remember the Bible, and never did no cocaine, enjoyed James Brown's music (who "stayed country", and whose tomb is still empty), and who, on The Lord's Day, don't have service, they have CHURCH! http://preview.tinyurl.com/9gx6x2k

443 We probably won't win PA, but a good sign is the number of Romney signs I have seen today. They seemed to sprout up over the last week. Saw at least 5-6 in a 10 minute suburban drive.

444 I'm hearing tweeting that Obama is cutting short his campaign trip and headed directly back to the White House. Sounds like this was unexpected.

Probably Pres. Jarrett has ordered a drone strike on some Lybian sheepherder and TFG needs to get to DC to look Presidential.

446 New Hampshire isn't an option for Obama.  They passed voter ID and the buses that used to come up from Mass. every election day have no place to go.  And, yes, they used to bring bus loads of folks up from Mass to vote in NH.  I saw it, personally...and reported it when I lived there.

448 I just got the secretary and her husband to go early vote and gave her time off to do so. in IA. They are unengaged, hubby is hunter and trapper they don't even get the newspaper and don't vote, but registered she Dem he independent. They both voted early straight R and voted no on every single judge retention as I always do.
If we talk to the unengaged and let them know its important to us, that Obamacare will give control of their bank accounts and health to govt they will vote and We Will Landslide this Mofo!

449 Anectdotal evidence: My mother has a cabin near the NH/VT border. Everywhere she goes she's seeing Romney signs / bumper stickers. She hasn't seen one Obama sign over the three weeks she's been there. Then again, mother drinks.

450 Here in the Denver Metro suburbs, Republican vs. Dems candidates signs are running three to one. I observed the three confirmed (TFG signs in the yard) librtard neighbors huddling this evening and nervously waving as I drove by.

My hope is that they panic after their messiah's defeat and move to a blue state.

451 This is how you know for sure that Ohio is hopeless for Obama: They're already working on some bullshit narrative about how Romney's son owns part of a company that owns part of a company that owns part of a company....that made the voting machines used in a few Ohio counties. This "story" is all over the left-wing sites.

452 You hear that, Ohio? Obama says HE DOESN'T NEED YOU!!!
