— CAC Well, someone asked, so here you go, a thread tracking the battle of Dewhurst and Cruz.

Announcement about WISCONSIN RECALL coverage for next Tuesday:
Pending the completion of some things behind the scenes, we have something quite special planned out next Tuesday: a live, interactive map showing real-time results county-by-county that, if all goes right, will report faster than the AP; results of the Lt. Governor recall race, and live results on all four State Senate recall races. A team of over a dozen morons, moronettes, and guest bloggers will be helping me behind the scenes so that AOSHQ is your go-to spot for numbers and official calls. Why go any place else?
US SENATE TEXAS: Dewhurst leads Cruz 45%-34% with 91% of precincts in.
**RUNOFF TRIGGERED**
Not that it matters any more, but Mitt Romney is now officially the Republican candidate. Texas pushed him over the line.

Dewhurst pissed off a lot of conservatives by pulling wanted bills off the House floor. Cruz got my vote. Several interesting issues at a vote: voucher type school funding and the repeal of Obamacare (actual wording).

1. The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their childÂ’s school, public or private, while also saving significant taxpayer dollars.
2. Congress should immediately repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (otherwise known as Obamacare) and reject the rationing of healthcare by government or the intrusion by the government into the doctor - patient relationship.
3. Government should be prohibited from restricting the content of public prayer.
4. Out of control spending should be stopped at all levels of federal and state government through constitutional amendments limiting any increase in government spending to be the combined increase of population and inflation, requiring voter approval.
5. The Texas Legislature should redraw the court-imposed lines for Congress and State legislative districts in its upcoming session in order to remedy inequities.
Democrats have 3 of their own.
1. Any graduate of a Texas high school, who has lived in the state for at least three years and lived here continuously for the last year, should be eligible for in-state tuition at state supported colleges and universities and given the opportunity to earn legal status through a higher education or military service.
2. Because a college education is increasingly necessary for jobs that allow our citizens to achieve middle class lifestyles and become the entrepreneurs who create the jobs that our economy relies on, we call on the Texas Legislature to fund colleges and universities such that tuition and fees can be
affordable to all Texans.
3. Should the Texas Legislature allow the people of Texas to vote to legalize casino gambling with all funds generated being used only for education?

He put out an ad saying that he was not lead lawyer, and the case was in appeals, like any other judgement would be..
It also said that the guy Screwhurst hired to slime Ted, actually moved his co. to CHINA HIMSELF years ago, thus no actual U.S. jobs were lost.
My mind was made up when Fukabee endorsed tho!
And his ads were so outragous, and with little to no footnotes, I didn't think so many would fall for them..
We got a long way to go.....

And I can see Ted catching more wind now. And maybe he will have enough time to explain away those nasty ads.
I couldnt stand KBH, barely stand Cornyn.. And I'm sick of voting for someone just because hes DUE (or OWED)..

Ted CruzREP (EARLY VOTE)197,723 30.16% (TODAYS VOTE) 330,435 32.41%
He picked up 2% on election day ALONE (so far)!

It's going to be very close but the Not-Dewhurst vote would tend to edge in Cruz's favor, too. Austin probably goes to Dewhurst but the Metroplex will go Cruz. So then you get to see where Houston/Beaumont, San Antonio, and the rural areas go.
Cruz and the Tea Party have a real shot here though Dewhurst still retains a good starting point. I'll donate to Cruz again.

Early #s first, then TOTAL..
Ted CruzREP 200,492 30.05% 449,793 33.64%
David DewhurstREP 319,857 47.94% 598,299 44.75%
94.15% reporting
(note the 3% rise and fall of TOTAL #s)
With that in mind, I subtracted and got today ONLY #s... (I think that means people have made their minds up on the attack ads)
Dewhurst 278,442
Cruz 249,301
GAME ON!!!!
BTW, Cruz was the only one to gain a percent of the vote today (and the guy that went to 0.5) so all this is good for Cruz (IMHO)
Dewhurst went from a 120k more votes via early voting, to only 29k on election day!! WOW!
Posted by: JarvisW at May 29, 2012 11:57 PM (8yPsP)
Er, game on? With 94.15% reporting, and at least 120,000 vote difference?
Am I missing something, or is that as Game Over as it gets?
Posted by: Qwinn at May 30, 2012 12:52 AM (MwUSZ)
Huckabee ad endorsing don't-hearse(no tea).
GO CRUZ!!!!!
On a sadder note, some IDIOTS and you know who you are have managed to send joey strauss back to Austin. Mrs. Jones has scored a run off with wentworthless. I always liked women named Elizabeth.

@Qwinn (not that anyone is checking this thread anymore) - yes, GAME ON. In order to seal the deal for the position in the primary, the winner had to get +50%. Dewhurts will now face a run-off with Cruz.
Game on indeed, once you look at the polling trends. Dewhurst is waning, while Cruz is picking up momentum. I'm playing over in my head where the "other" voters will go. Honestly, I see Leppert's voters going more to Dewhurst than Cruz, simply because I think Leppert's weaksauce moderate vision is well-aligned with Dewhurst's weaksauce moderate visions...
But, we've got what, a month? A month is an eternity.
INTERESTING ANECDOTE: When I went to go vote, I happened to follow another voter in. He had a Susan Todd bumper sticker on his car. He then proceeded to get in line to vote for the Democrat Primary. HMMM.
Posted by: reason at May 30, 2012 07:40 AM (q/kmn)
I'm also very frustrated with this whole new "Democrat Sliver" that's being established to cobble together all of Dallas & Fort Worth's minorities into a voter block.
I don't recall who the (R) for that House seat will be, but I'll be making sure to put out some signs and make some calls for him. I'd love to see the gerrymandering efforts blow up in the Democrat's face and TX add another Republican to the House.
