— Gabriel Malor I'm at the FreedomWorks- and Franklin Center-sponsored BlogConCLT this weekend and just saw a fantastic video by Matthias Shapiro visualizing what Obama has done to the national debt.
Watch this. Tell your friends.
Also, he's a good follow on twitter.

Nice job. One nitpick...Shapiro, during his commentary on W's portion of the debt roadmap, says that the tax cuts lowered revenue. I was under the impression that revenue was coming in at a record pace. To his credit, Shapiro also mentions that spending increased at the same time.

If the Republican are posturing over $19B and threatening shutdown you know it is kabuki theater. They should have already had a budget that cut at least $1T which is what Obama and the Dems put in there for "stimulus" and have not managed to cut since then.
They need to argue over that and tell the MFM and the commies to go ahead and shut it down and stick Patty Murray up their ass.

Our system was $41,000. We were willing to commit to that, but knew there was a reasonable chance we'd get tax credits and state rebates. Our state has a deal with the utility companies where they feed a fund for consumers who choose alternative energy, because that helps take some of the load off of them; and then the state distributes the money when people have new builds. Our installer was adamant that our paperwork be ready for submission by a certain date, and he insisted on submitting it himself. I'm glad he did, because the money was released by the state on a particular date, and the fund was stripped bare in a matter of days. But we got $12,500. back from the state. Then we got a $12,500 tax credit. A credit is different from a refund, as it simply offsets whatever liability you already have and gives you the remainder. Then our installer got us a manufacturer's rebate that ended up getting our net cost down to about $7000. We'll be able to pay ourselves back within about four years; and then the rest of gravy.
>>>>>>>>>>>> This person has mentioned before that their electric rates are near the top rates in the nation. Aside from all the corruption in ILL they overcharge like mad for electricity to fund such boondoggles. I'd love to have the diplomatic skills to point some of the facts out to her w/o it being seen as an attack.

Dang it, I can't watch the video where I am. Maybe I don't want to? It sounds damn depressing.
To cheer everyone up, I present you with a New York Post story about Keith Olbermann wandering aimlessly around Central Park wearing a hideous red sweater and the baggiest jeans I have ever seen on a grown man. The funniest part is they STILL don't hide the fact he has a fat, fat ass.
-------------
Olbermann at Loose Ends
(Page Six, New York Post: http://tinyurl.com/7tqldec)
Unemployed, perennially confrontational talking head Keith Olbermann aimlessly wandered around Central Park South earlier this week, seemingly looking for a friend or a purpose.
Our spies snapped unflattering pictures of Olbermann decked out in a giant red pullover and clownishly baggy jeans as he strolled 59th Street near Seventh Avenue, smelling the roses — or, in this case, the horse manure, allergens and aromas from a nearby food cart...
----
It's awesome.

See, that's what needs to be hammered home over and over again. Steyn does that quite well, pointing out that we need $16T just to get back to zero. When the whining about Paul Ryan shoving granny off a cliff gets made, whip out that this is what an actual austerity budget would look like.

I LOVE making liberals heads explode, by mentioning how they admit Pres. Bush is such a superior policiticain to Pres. Obama!
Why? Lib: The enconomy is all Bush's fault!
Consider:
Bush had a Democrate House & Senate his last two years in office. But, since everything is HIS fault, he must have bent them over and made them his bitch. They were completely helpless against him and couldn't stop from imposing his agenda on them.
Obama had both a Democrate House & Senate his first two years, AND COULDN"T get it done! Even now, he still has the Senate but is bitching the minority Republicans are blockings him.
Truely Bush was far superior to Obama as a President and a leader. So whenever a Lib mentions the economy is all Pres Bush's fault. Mention the above to them.

And that's with interest rates are historical lows. I think you have to get out to at least a 5 year TBill to get at least 1%.
Wait until rates return to the historical average of 3-5%.
Doom.

The record for the largest one-day tax money take in was recorded on W's watch. It was in '05 or '06, IIRC, back during the darkest days of our economy when we had 5% (otherwise known as essentially full employment for those of you in Rio Linda) UE.

Whoever made that statement has no idea how our monetary system works. The FED loans money to more parties than just the federal government.
Places money comes from.
1. All money in circulation in 1933 was converted to FRN at that time, that money is permanently in circulation and will never go away.
2. Any money the FED *gives* to the the IMF or other entities; that money is permenantly in circulation and will never go away.
3. Any money loaned to a FED member that subsequently declares bankruptcy, or any other debt write down the FED may make; That money is permanently in circulation and will never go away.
4. Money on active loan to banks. This money has to be re-payed with interest and is not in permanent circulation.
5. Any US Bonds the FED holds. This money has to be re-payed with interest and is not in permanent circulation.

About 45% percent of spending is borrowed money. (that percentage is increasing over time as the damage is compounding)
Subtracting that much government spending will cause GDP to contract so another 8-10% must be cut on top of that because of lost revenue and we will have to run a surplus to start paying the debt down, at least another 5%.
So back of the envelope math makes that roughly a 60% cut in total government spending to prevent DOOM.
Had SCoaMF or Bush acted in 2008 or 2009 it would have only required a 10% cut in total spending to prevent DOOM. Exponential math functions are a bitch.

Mine, too. Presidents submit a budget request; they get (or used to get) a budget from Congress, and had to either sign it or veto it, up or down, yes or no. Which is why every President since Washington has wanted a line item veto.
