No, he's not. He's doing the very sensible thing of admitting that the system needs reforming - just not Obamacare. You can't sell full repeal unless you outline what you're going to replace it with.

This is so old!
And OT - if it's so hard to run against Obama's "likeability", why not run against the media's detestability?
This is something the politicians, at least the Republican ones, don't seem to have realized - Americans detest the media!
And there is a way for Romney and all Republicans to take advantage of that, simply by treating the media with the contempt that it dishes out for them, and defy the media to complain about it. If the media gets all bitchy about it, that's just fine - it highlights the fact of their bias even more. If they manfully suck it up and don't try to get back at.... HAHAHAHAHAHA - sometimes I just kill myself, I really do!
Seriously, ask the media some tough questions, like how come they don't see anything wrong with having an idiot like Biden one heartbeat away, and apparently all set to hold down that spot for another four years. Ask them how come they have covered up one Dem scandal after another, and name names.
Stick your finger in their eye! The American people will love it and the media really can't complain too much about it, without confirming the fact that they have inserted themselves into politics in a wholly dishonest way already.

The sentence basically:
We are getting a great healthcare reform bill that we must sign up for or be fined, that will have 10 million more patients but no new doctors, enforced by 16,000 additional IRS agents, administered by a Treasury Secretary that didn't pay his taxes, passed by a Congress that didn't read the bill, signed by a President that smokes, approved of by a Surgeon General that is overweight, collecting taxes for it for four years before benefits start, paid for by a government that has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, and a country that is already broke.
What could go wrong?

There is room for reform of "health care" at the Federal level. But it should be done stepwise with transparency. It can be bipartisan if it is broken into small bites that people can understand and comprehend the consequences.
People should know what they are getting, and petition their Congressman to resist if they don't like it. That's how "democracy" works.
Not passing some insane 3000 page omnibus that nobody understands and gives incredible discretionary power to an unelected Secretary of HHS. That's fascism, straight up. For this alone, Barry and the Choom Gang should get the boot out of the Executive Branch.
Step one was 2010, cleaning up the House and taking power away from that nitwit Pelosi. Step 2 is cleaning up the Executive and voting out the Democrat majority in the Senate.
Step 3 is staying on target for the next 8 years and making the changes stick. Reduce the size of government, get it back in the box.

My wife has been on Facebook for a while, but hasn't been "Friending" anyone (she plays some games, but didn't want to "reconnect" or anything like that, just play the games). So she's finally given in and started accepting some friend requests.
One of her friends (who actually rented a room from us for a while) who happens to be one of the idiots who not only voted for Obama in 08, but is going to do so again, sent her a message about something Obama had done. My wife dropped a quick message that basically said, "He's a SCOAMF," and hoped that would be the end of it.
No. Friend sent asked who Mrs.G would be voting for, and she replied "Romney." Friend asked "Why not just independent," and my wife said, "'Cause I don't feel like throwing my vote away. Why don't you like Romney?"
Friend's response (c'mon guess!) "Women's issues," and tried to give her some snow-job about Lilly Ledbetter.
Then (and this is the feel good part) my wife actually did about 5 minutes research on LLA and let friend (who may now be "former friend") have it with both barrels. It. Was. Epic.
I think she sent me the entire chain, I'm going to dig it up just to revel in the awesomeness.

Gemma contends an investigation he initiated by retired state troopers found evidence of people being paid to vote for certain candidates, people voting multiple times at different voting places and people who impersonated other voters.
Speaking at an outdoor press conference near his headquarters, Gemma called Cicilline the "common denominator" through most of the evidence, some of which dates to 2002.
The findings, Gemma said, are not "run-of-the-mill dirty politics" or "gossip, but evidence of conduct that compromises the very core of our electoral process."
Cicilline's campaign characterized Gemma's allegations as an "outrageous political stunt" with "not one shred of evidence."

Romney can't repeal anything. Congress must do it, and they claim that they will. Not sure about the sausage making (or repealing) here, but can they repeal only parts of the law?
In any event, if Congress presents him with a full repeal, do you think he will not sign it? He might get himself impeached if he doesn't.

I find this sentiment highly inappropriate. A more fitting tone would be to express more sorrow than anger at recent extremism in the GOP. If Romney and Ryan were more like those glorious conservatives of the past this race would not already be lost.

So they used that lame excuse of "the weather", to move it to a smaller venue.
A lot of notable Dems didn't even go to the DNC convention .

OT, but feel-bad story of my weekend.
Â@
I can't remember who was asking about it some time ago, but I had two geothermal heating/cooling units installed at a lake house my son lives in. They never gave the savings they promised in operating costs, but otherwise they worked fine.
Â@
On Friday afternoon, my son discovered 3 feet of water in the crawl space. We rented a trash pump and emptied the water, then discovered the compressor section of the split system had let loose inside the cabinet. Don't know what it's going to cost to fix.
So, if you had an uneventful weekend, consider yourselves lucky.

Four of five self-proclaimed anarchists – calling themselves the Revolutionary People’s Party – have now confessed to involvement in a conspiracy in late April to use C-4 explosives to blow up an interstate highway bridge near Cleveland.
After their arrests, most of the suspects quickly agreed to discuss their plans with FBI agents during middle-of-the-night interviews. One of the would-be bombers said he just wanted to go to sleep and forget everything, court documents disclose.
...
The anarchists initially discussed using smoke grenades to distract law enforcement while co-conspirators would use explosives to topple signs atop high-rise financial institutions in downtown Cleveland. They also discussed bombing a Ku Klux Klan gathering spot or a Federal Reserve Bank.
The defendants apparently formed the Revolutionary PeopleÂ’s Party after they grew disappointed with the lack of action by people in the Occupy Movement, with whom they had been affiliated.
... bombing a Ku Klux Klan gathering spot sounds like what SPLC dreams about doing.

To paraphrase Han Solo:
"Must have hit pretty close to the mark to get you all riled up like that, huh kid?"
The fact that you vacillate between crying jags when Romney goes down two points in the polls and hysterics when anyone questions YOUR Dear Leader is beyond amusing.
Might want to go back to watching porn...seems like you could use some tension relief.
Also, you're making excuses for your intended savior by reading into what he said, as though you can somehow divine what he's thinking. He didn't say he was going to propose his own reforms, he first said he was going to repeal Obamacare, now he says he won't get rid of "all of it". These are two opposing expressions of intent. Can't change that no matter how much you got your head up your own pig's ass. You sound no different than anyone on the left who won't tolerate dissent or criticism of Dear Leader.
We're supposed to be above that.

Possibly, but if that IS the case, then he needs to put it in those terms.
For instance: "I will repeal Obamacare in its entirety! It is bad for America, bad for the American Citizens. However, I do recognize that our medical system is flawed and needs sensible reform. In place of Obamacare, I will enact sensible legislation that..." (etc.)
Saying "I'm not getting rid of all of health care reform." directly contradicts his stated promise to repeal Obamacare. he should be sticking with that promise, and then promising reasonable reforms.

Because, after all, it's not like there's any difference between the two right?

You're right. The problem is that a lot of his current supporters (including yours truly) still see him as too much of a NE Liberal Republican Autocrat. We don't want him talking about what he'll do to "fix it," we want him talking about how he'll empower the States and the People to fix it.
Which is what makes it even a semi-effective strategy.

It's hard to believe that on a political website there are people who mistake election season for "put forth detailed proposals of every policy you want to enact" season.
One is for lying and the other for doing.

I think you're right. An attitude of "woo the independents (if that's possible) and the Eyores need to shut up" is actually fairly reasonable. After all, the Eyores make it nearly impossible to woo the independents because squishes will never have the guts to join a team that's correct but losing.

I'm old enough to remember when "Repeal and Replace" was considered a bad concept, when many commenters stated that they just wanted "Repeal" and didn't want to talk about "Replace" until after the "Repeal" was done. But that was before the GOP found its own Kwisatz Haderach in Mitt.

CBD is right...
"Repeal and Replace"
I've heard Romney say this...repeatedly.
It's easy to remember --- R and R.
Like Romney and Ryan.
I thought it was catchy...intentionally...to tie in with the R and R ticket.
We've needed some 'simple reforms' for a long time...to make Healthcare more affordable.
It would only take about 20 pages.
20 pages....not 2200 pages of control freak policies, using 'healthcare' as a way to take over complete control of our lives.
It's be nice to hear Romney say this, too.
But I think that's what he's talking about...with "Repeal and Replace".

Ace is AP's "Tyler Durden."
Every morning AP wakes up with what looks like the aftermath of his schlubby roommate's hobo-hunting.
Eventually, he will realize that Ace is actually his own strange multiple-personality existence, and the only way he will be able to get rid of Ace will be to shoot himself through the jaw.
Only then will the Brave New World of Eeyorism be able to fully prosper under his watchful sigh.

We just moved buildings, and now we're all in stupid half-cubes. Where, before, I was in a fairly open area with only a couple of other people and all of them quiet, now I'm in a 6 x 6 (roughly) cube with nothing between me and everyone else.
And someone is humming the Pink Panther theme.

Allen - they're trying to change us all over to something more like that as well where I work.
Everyone gets a little "lean-to" type area for their computer and a plant, and then larger "collaboration" areas are interspersed throughout. It reminds me of the little hell-holes they made for the interns at...well...the place I interned during college.
The further up the ladder I move, the more the rungs all start to look alike.

No he can't, but the President can direct his executive branch agencies, like the IRS, to suspend activities related to the law. At which point Congress would need to override him. Executive orders cut both ways.
