The RNC Takes A Post-Wisconsin Victory Lap
— DrewM

Can you stand a little more Wisconsinfreude (Cuffy's term)? I'm sure you can.

Chuck Todd was a little touchy this morning when I called him out for relying on the "but the exit polls show Obama winning WI" garbage.

@DrewMTips learn how exit polls work... Then criticize.

again, it was weighted incorrectly... The raw data is reliable. All exit polls get weighted to actual results.

Tell you what Team Exit Polls...show me what a voter who supports Obama and Scott Walker looks like and then I'll take you seriously (actually, I'll laugh at them but close enough).

I'd love to see a Venn Diagram of people who believe exit poll data over actual votes and people who believe climate models over observable climate data. I bet there's a big overlap.

And don't buy the "Walker and the Koch brothers bought the election" spin. The left spent plenty of money on this. Besides, when did the left start caring about outspending opponents? I seem to recall (SWIDT) a guy named Barack Obama promising to take public funding and abide by equal spending limits only to change his mind and outspend John McCain 3-1.

One final thought, a lot of the lefty whining over Wisconsin and Walker is that by preventing the state from collecting dues for unions Walker is destroying the Democratic party's main funding and organizing sources. Think about that for a second, liberals think they have an inherent right to have the state subsidize and compel financing for their political operations.

Today we are all Cheeseheads!

cheese.jpg

Added: The saddest spin...Wisconsin Democrats didn't want Obama's help anyway and besides Obama wanted them to show how awesome they are without his help.

10 Actually, I was a cheesehead yesterday, too. Like, when I voted for the non-SCOAMFY Gov. Walker. Like then.

What do you suppose was the margin of fraud in this one? I know a lot of democrats voted for Walker because he makes more sense and because even they didn't think the recall was the right thing to do ethically. So, if they have scruples about this, what sort of scruples do you suppose they will have voting for or against the SCOAMF?

It's really funny how it's lost on all the financial pundits that state government solvency is a positive for investors.

All their eyes are on the EU's debt debacle while right here we have our own debt debacle in Washington and in most states.

But you'll never hear or read that that the US Markets are up today because of Republican electoral victory and debt/pension reform.

I see the Dems who profess to support both Walker and the SCOAMF as being in a transitional stage; they know that Walker was right but they haven't make the mental transition to concluding that the SCOAMF is wrong. That will come as soon as they get comfortable with Romney. I think the recall is jolting a lot of temporary SCOAMF-lovers back to reality.

I would have loved to have talked to that guy last night and ask him a few questions.  Democracy is dead because the taxpayers decided we could only afford to pay for 75% of your retirement, not 100%?  Democracy is dead because you now have to contribute about half of what private sector employees do for your health care instead of nothing at all?

If that's democracy, well then RIP, democracy.  No big loss, we're a constitutional republic, anyway.

59 The Regular Guy was one of the few who called a blowout for Walker before yesterday's results so let me add my two cents on the exit poll showing Obama beating Romney.

Ignore it.

First, these are the same polls that showed Walker and Barrett in a dead heat on election day.   So they were about seven points off.   It's highly likely they'd be the same amount off in assessing Obama's support.

Second, the polls obviously won't take into account the effect of the Walker triumph itself.   Low information voters/independents/self-styled "moderates" tend to break toward the side they think is winning.   Republicans are winning, and winning breeds more winning.

Third, Wisconsin's most popular politicians are all Republicans -- Ron Johnson, Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, and former Governor Tommy Thompson.    All will be out there in force campaigning with Romney.   Thompson will be the Republicans' U.S. Senate nominee running against a very weak Democratic candidate for Herb Kohl's open seat in November.   He will win easily, and that win will drive the Republican vote for President too.

Fourth, Wisconsin was very very close in 2000 and 2004.   It was only a Democratic blowout in the annus horribilus of 2008.   A closely divided state is the default; a Democratic majority is the exception.

Finally, there is a real chance with the continued bad national economy and repudiations like Wisconsin (and Democrats like Bill Clinton jumping ship and throwing Obama under the bus) that there will be a "preference cascade" against Obama.   People are tired of his act, tired of his whining excuses, tired of his narcisissism, tired of his incompetence.   Once it becomes socially acceptable to criticize Obama and come out against him, I'd expect a lot of so-called "moderates" to break for Romney.

63 Isn't this thing with the exit polls eerily similar to November 2004, when the exit polls showed Bush getting hammered? Then, when they actually started counting the votes, he immediately jumped out to a huge lead. Or in 2000, when, based on exit polls, the major media outlets called Florida for Gore, before the polls in the heavily-Republican panhandle had even closed. Far be it from me to suggest that there might be a pattern here, of the media deliberately using fraudulent exit polls to demoralize Republicans and suppress GOP turnout in close elections...

88 By the time you have actual results, your exit poll is irrelevant.

Now you are just exposing your ignorance.  Just ask any Kerry supporter from 2004 which matters more, exit polls or actual results.

Actual results.  *chortle*.  Don't worry, we all make silly mistakes sometimes.

@60:

To your point about Clintoon jumping ship: on Closing Bell, Wild Bill opined that the Bush tax cuts should be extended. He also used the "R" word in the same interview.

In response to Roger Simon's comment: "Bill Clinton is pretty good at sabotaging ObamaÂ’s strategy." Bubba said, "Mr. Simon may think I should be an employee of the campaign, but I'm not."

They are weighted against partial returns for predictive value so networks can make calls before all the votes are counted.

Problem is, like anything else, garbage in----garbage out.

They oversampled Democrats so naturally it showed a tight race and support for Obama.

Clearly though the raw data was fucked and Chuckie just won't admit it.

Didn't CA voters also reject the $1 tax on a pack of smokes for "cancer research?"  I think that's what I heard on the way in this am.

100 Best excuse I heard for Obama's lackluster assistance comes from Daily Kos. (I'm paraphrasing because I don't want to have to decontaminate myself again from visiting that pustulent cesspool) "Obama hung back because he knows Walker is going to be indicted in a few days and he didn't want to look political." Of course in the same set of comments you had people encouraging others to contact Moe Lane under a false name and get him to say "something that will discredit him or get him fired." Oh the wailing and gnashing is music to my ears.

101 this makes that idiot Louise Boyd (President of the teachers union in Neshaminy that is kindly striking at the end of the school year) seem even funnier with her interview yesterday AM on Dom Giordano's show he kept saying "what does the WI election say about public unions?" and she kept insisting that Walker would absatively be recalled, quite vehemently. party's over in WI . . . maybe in PA too

102 I would like to take this opportunity to remind every man on this site that dipping your testes on hot nacho cheese can do irreparable harm to your reproductive system. I recommend, as does Mr ace, that you instead immerse them in some form of pudding or jello.

Ron Paul, The Issues:
RIGHT TO WORK, Workers' Rights (preempt unions)
ECONOMY, Restore America's Prosperity (balanced budget)
States' Constitutional Rights
Refusal to Overspend, even for his own campaign

I have no idea where Paul's been campaigning, or what if any communications/donations occur between Paul and Walker, or their campaigns.  But everyone can easily figure that these two politicians' agendas align. If it looks as if a no show, why bother attacking Ron Paul for not appearing where he was not invited or not welcome to campaign on Walker's behalf? pfft

Infighting doesn't make for victory, nor for unifying celebrations.  Mad dog attacks on welcome voters is worse than stupid. Admit that you're trumping the "true conservative" segregation banner yourself in order to oust Paul's contingency.

106 Just ordered my Green Bay Packers hat to wear, proudly showing my divorce from the Chicago Bears after 50 or so years, due to head coach Lovie Smith's shameless race-based Obama boosting and the general suckitude of the team lately.
