Let's set the scene: The middle east is on fire; our representatives there have been murdered, and our interests in the region seem on the verge of being utterly swept aside again by an all-too well known wave of hard line Islamist politicization.

So, you're the ambassador to the UN: our face to the world. Besides disseminating the administration's lies about these events (already well-documented here and elsewhere), what else is your public face saying? What do you need to convey to Americans, and the world?

The vast majority of Christians don't even think about it that much. When they do, they (mostly) adopt the "hate the sin, not the sinner" attitude. Well over half the country does not approve of same-sex marriage, last time I saw.

Then we get into the rest of the world where one of the precepts of one of the largest world religions is that homosexuals should be put to death.

I'm really not sure why they insist on bringing it up. It's almost like they think that homosexuals (or bisexuals, I suppose) don't exist except for their sexual urges.

Depending on how you look at this, it's actually pretty good news. There's nothing wrong in the world right now. Countries are not on the verge of war, there are no genocides in Africa, there are no girls being hung for being raped anywhere. the liberal aristocracy promotes gay issues primarily to boost support and thus donations from the hollywood left, where the issues are considered much more important than elsewhere. i agree though. most christians think that homosexuality is a problem, but only really dwell on it when it's forced in their faces as if only to ridicule their beliefs. quite a lot of the country doesn't feel that we should redefine marriage to accommodate gay advocates because it does devalue the (admittedly an already devalued) institution and creates a slippery slope. both of which are defensible positions.

But to a lefty, the very mention of such a notion is Islamophobic.

It's the same logic failing which leads to removing security for a gay ambassador in a hostile, unstable country. It is a learned, indoctrinated irrationality which is espoused so that its speakers can consider themselves sophisticated.

271 Speaking of lackwits. Universal Studio is apparently running some big hoedown to support Obama. So an FB friend posts they will boycott Universal Studios.

The lackwit commentor decides because Hitler urged boycotting the Jews, the word boycott is evil. So we are all evil for using the word.

So I commented - I will embargo Universal studios. They will get not one dime. I too can play semantic games.

I wait for the lackwit to misread semantic as Semitic.
