This just in...Bab's extends! [Journolist]
— Open Blogger

Well...since the horde is requesting more goodies in addition to the postive (R) poll trending in the swings, I picked up the red courtesy phone as soon as I could and am here ready to jump into action. For when the collective horde orders, we deliver and put it on our tab...not yours. That's just how it works around here. It's a unique business plan, you order, we serve and we absorb all the incidentals as it were. So after much painstaking consideration in trying to strike the perfect confectioner's balance of sugar and salt in order to blend a fitting pari passu morsel that goes with strong (R) polling...I have found it and plucked it off the low hanging branch (apologies up front for the mixed metaphor) and now it's ready to be served.

Oh, how I hope you will like it. It is so tasty and I know, just know you are going to like it. For you aren't Mad-dogs and Englishmen, fooling around in the mid-day sun. [No, for we are morons who appreciate prose by Noel Coward, cheap vodka, fine cigars and firm feeling women] So here it is, a custom made and fit post just for you... oh, how excited I am to let you know that yes, yes, it is so very true that...... The Los Angeles Times is reporting Barbara Streisand is adding an additional November date at the Hollywood Bowl!

But hey, don't be getting any wise ideas about bringing in some booze to accompany the feta and arugula...because when Babs sings at the bowl... outside booze is persona non grata. You see, when Babs comes to the bowl, it becomes a 'Lease Event' and new rules apply.

Imagine that, a liberal who wants to restrict liberty... what a concept.

It appears quaaludes are still permitted though.

The ultimate upside: barf bags aren't banned either.

46 OT:

Just looking over the PPP crap Ohio poll. REALLY, REALLY good numbers for Romney in there.

He is now WINNING on both the Libya and the Economy. The poll has swung TEN points more positive for Romney with him winning a majority on the Economy. Romney is at a near majority support for trust on Libya and swapped the lead with Obama in last week's polling.

He is losing the overall vote by 1% to Obama (48% O - 47% R), but the poll is saying the DRI split is 42/34/24, BUT last week it was Obama +5% to Romney with a DRI of 40/36/24. The DRI went from D+4 to D+8.

If it was last week's DRI sample with the splits used today, Romney would be ahead by three with 50% to 47% Obama.

Romney is going to win Ohio with these numbers.

D+4 will equal a Romney win in Ohio.

189 I know I am very late to the party, but this reminds me of how I once saw U2 at the LA Sports Arena and there was no alcohol sales whatsoever. Which was funny, because Bono was drunk. In fact, he was so drunk that when he did his climb up on the speaker and start walking on the edge of the balcony bit that he used to do, he fell on a fan's girlfriend. The fan proceed to threaten Bono, and Bono started throwing punches. This is a true story. He then ran up on the stage, and made the band, who had been vamping on the riff from Bad for the past five minutes, stop suddenly, and he began lecturing the audience, "AT A U2 CONCERT, THE BAND RESPECTS THE AUDIENCE AND THE AUDIENCE RESPECTS THE BAND." He then ran off the stage and the band continued to vamp on Bad until they realized he wasn't coming back , at which point they all stopped playing one by one and walked off the stage. Ten minutes later they came out and started playing again, but no Bono. They riffed for awhile, and then Bono came WANDERING (for wandering is the only accurate word, other than meandering, out onto the stage and joined them. His eyes were glassy, but he sang ok, the rest of the show. Here's another description of the incident: http://forum.atu2.com/index.php?topic=18818.25;wap2 I think the gig you might be referring to is the June 17th show at the Los Angeles Sports Arena(their first LA area show post US Festival, and also the band's first concert in a sports arena). Again, Bono left the stage during The Electric Co. and climbed a balcony. He was mobbed by eager fans and eventually jumped 20 feet into the audience below to escape. During the craziness a fight almost broke out on the arena floor, and by the time Bono got back to the stage his clothes had been torn and ripped. After the show, the rest of the band used the near disaster as a "See? I Told You So" moment, and Bono's climbing days became few and far between afterwards.

197 Ah, here's a more accurate description of the Bono incident (this is from BROKEN NOSE TO THE FLOOR): At the Los Angeles Sports Arena, June 17, 1983, despite the heated exchange between Bono and tour manager Dennis Sheehan at the US Festival, Bono got caught up in the moment one last time. Again during “The Electric Co.” the singer turned acrobat, going up the stairs behind the stage and around the balcony with a white flag and his microphone in tow. Once Bono was opposite the stage, a fight between attendees broke out next to him. Someone grabbed his flag, prompting to singer to climb to the edge of the balcony, promising to jump if the brawl didn’t end. When it continued, U2’s singer jumped twenty feet, landing on top of the crowd below. Sheehan—serving as Bono’s spotter—did the same and landed safely. Seconds later, when members of the crowd—inspired by their rock and roll conqueror—also jumped, no one was there to catch them. As the bodies piled up, the singer felt trapped and hit back at fans with his fists clenched until security got him back to the stage. Despite his proclamations about the importance of pacifism and peace, the scrappy kid from Cedarwood Road lost his shit for a moment and hit back in rage. After the show, with a shredded white flag and ripped shirt coupled with the scornful looks of his bandmates to remind him that he had gone too far, Bono pledged to put his concert circus act to bed forever. Reviewing the show, Los Angeles Times critic Robert Hilburn said it was one of the most exciting moments at a rock show he’d ever seen and one of the dumbest.

201 No one ever mentions he was drunk, but I don't think there was any other explanation for his idiocy that night.

202 Frankly, I have never had a friend who professed political pacifism who did not get in fights.

203 Wait, what??  I think I got that wrong.  Not a FG kick, just a kick.

Yeah, we briefly touched on that in an earlier thread.  I hope I get the chance to donkey-punch one of 'em, but I don't think they're worried about Califuckistan.

208 204 I'm signed up to be an election observer for Romney/Ryan - can't imagine anyone'd be too worked up about the goings-on here in East Noplace, but...I agree with you, an "unfortunate workplace accident" would be just, um, unfortunate. Heh.

209 If some fuck stick UN shit-stain showed up at my polling place he'd be treated to a muffin and coffee before getting his ass handed to him. Those blue-hairs are so sweet.

It's a target-rich environment.  The stupid is strong here in the land of the tiny-brained, and most of 'em are obscenely overpaid.  Can't wait to see the last of this pos.
