Thousands Protest Obama's Bestest Pal In Cairo
— Ace

No one could have foreseen this, apart from everyone.

Thousands of Egyptians massed in Cairo Tuesday for a march to the presidential palace to protest the assumption by the nation's Islamist president of nearly unrestricted powers and a draft constitution hurriedly adopted by his allies.

The march comes amid rising anger over the draft charter and decrees issued by Mohammed Morsi giving himself sweeping powers. Morsi called for a nationwide referendum on the draft constitution on Dec. 15.

...

A large turnout would signal sustained momentum for the opposition, which brought out at least 200,000 protesters to Cairo's Tahrir Square a week ago and a comparable number on Friday, demanding that Morsi's decrees be rescinded.

...

The Islamists responded by sending hundreds of thousands of supporters into Cairo's twin city of Giza on Saturday and across much of the country.

Who Lost Egypt?

When Bush was president, the left and the media (but I repeat myself) were very interested in a strict accounting of bets won and bets lost. Well, they weren't very interested in bets won. But they were extremely interested in the bets lost part.

Since Obama, no one's keeping score anymore, huh? Now everything is just assumed to be Beyond Any Man's Ability To Predict Or Influence.

9 46 Ace, I'm glad to see that your recent political postings have taken into account my ideas. I think it shows a lot of intellectual heft on your part, to allow yourself to be influenced by my postings and ideas, and to let yourself be persuaded. Together we have reached the obviously correct conclusions. You're welcome. /lifesmanship I know many of us aren't Erick Erickson's biggest fan (besides his obviously fake name. What is he hiding with such a fake name?!?!). However, his recent post regarding Boehner and Cantor's weapons grade cock sucking and purge of FiCons is important. As I've been articulating since shortly after the election, the RINOs who hold party leadership positions are going down a dangerous path. If they aren't careful, the fractured GOP coalition will break (presuming that isn't their goal.) In some poignant posts that clearly transformed your thinking (or perhaps I had just reached the correct conclusions before you and helped you catch up), I asked you, Ace, concretely: at what point have you been alienated out of the party. I'd like to revisit that, because it was clearly beneficial for your intellectual evolution. Boehner is actively purging FiCons, is open to 800b+ in tax hikes, and has adopted a policy of being a surrender monkey. Key FiCon and SoCon GOP constituencies are approaching outright party revolt/separation. Ace, at what point do you privately break with leadership? Ace, At what point do you do it publicly? You're welcome. No need to thank me anymore than you already have.

You act like you didn't know this was coming.  You should not be surprised that the media is not reporting things the same way they were with Republicans in power.

This is par for the course (speaking in terms Odipshit can understand).  The media is the enemy.  They have an agenda and your demise is their goal.

20 I rarely read Buchanan, but this is a decent piece over at cnsnews.com. The True Disciple of Saul Alinsky http://cnsnews.com/blog/patrick-j-buchanan/true-disciple-saul-alinsky excerpt: Two years ago, Obama had to eat crow and extend the Bush tax cuts. Now it's payback time. And behind their arrogance lies a belief that the GOP cannot say no. For if the Bush tax cuts and the payroll tax cuts expire on Jan. 1, Americans will face the highest tax hike in history. — Every family earning up to $100,000 would see 2 percent of its income lopped off, as the employee half of the Social Security tax rises from 4.2 to 6.2. percent. The discretionary income of Middle Americans would be ravaged. — The federal tax rate on capital gains will rise from 15 percent to a maximum 24.7 percent, a jump of 60 percent. — The federal tax rate on interest and dividends will triple from 15 percent to a maximum 44.7 percent. — Where $5 million of an estate can now be passed on to one's heirs non-taxed, that will be cut to $1 million. And the death tax rate would shoot from 35 percent to a neo-Marxist 55 percent. Even Senate Democrats fear this would force a selloff or breakup of family farms and family businesses at death. Yet somewhere, the radical socialist Saul Alinsky, who inspired the young community organizer, is smiling.

Rocks cut from solid bedrock with bronze age tools and no explosives, hauled by hand many, many miles, hewn by hand to a precise shape and design. Put in place exactly and again with stone age technology, by thousands who worked in coordinated groups to a sophisticated design. All without the "help" of islam. Yeah, I'm impressed. But I've been involved in the building of some things, so I have some perspective.

166 It takes an obese ego to tell a civilized people that they deserve what terrorists impose.  Is this a generational thing, because "we" certainly did not grow up smugly telling people what they deserve. What they might expect? Yes. But this entire "deserve" mentality is shit.

Deserve's got nothing to do with it.

1920s, telling Mexicans after their 2nd revolution for freedom that they deserved to be tortured and murdered because elections have consequences, Calles playing their Beast denying freedom of thought and life "for their own good" of course.

After all, there's no such thing as election fraud, anywhere, any time. It takes a tinfoil hat to see corruption -- there's no such thing as fraud, period.

The UN with NATO/US will assure you that the Arab "Spring" was truly a grassroots POPULAR coup of the entire region spawned by "Western friendly" (translate as US tax funded, like it or not) "middle class bourgeoisie" Islamists  who just so happen to further the Wahhabi global caliphate reign of terror.

Conservative Americans are told that we deserve a tyrant because elections being bought as they are, Billions of Dollars, we don't deserve our Constitutional Governance. We can't "afford" the US Constitutional Republic. Our unalienable rights were a mirage. The US bourgeoisie are told of the necessity and required patriotism of higher taxes (up to 100% income IF NOT MORE) in order for the Federal Government to be omnipotent, as is the Fed's "divine right". Hence understand, 'in god.gov we trust' or as a voter stated, "we belong to the government."

Given the lack of intrinsic value backing our Dollar and the implementation of Eugenics by the federal government, don't tell me that I deserve any of what I've campaigned and voted against.

I wonder this about zombies in general.  I mean, decomposition -- especially in warm and humid climates -- can happen very quickly.  Yet zombies can be lumbering around for months after an outbreak of zombieitis and still have some semblance of muscle tone and skin elasticity.   I know it's expensive    to create walking quasi-skeletons and all, but it's one of those things that drives me nuts.

245 Reserve slashes 6,000 billets No one will be forced out; Seabees take big hit By Sam Fellman - Staff Writer Posted : Tuesday Dec 4, 2012 10:38:21 EST The Navy Reserve is cutting roughly 6,000 billets over the next three years, officials announced Nov. 29, as the force reorganizes as part of the Afghanistan drawdown. The cuts, which center on reserve Seabees, also drove down advancement rates from the latest cycle. But officials said there is some good news: No reservists will be kicked out due to the downsizing. “We can right-size with normal attrition, reduced accessions and rating conversions through [the job-matching system] FleetRIDE,” said Rear Adm. Eric Young, deputy chief of the Navy Reserve, in an interview. “We’re committed to the sailors.” Officials said the downsizing is due to reduced demand for Seabees and expeditionary sailors as the Pentagon winds down its last remaining land war. Reserve officials plan to shutter four construction battalions and one construction regiment by October, with two more battalions slated to close the following year. The cutbacks eliminate 4,700 Seabee billets, or roughly 45 percent of the reserve Seabee positions. Gee it's gonna be really lonely in the Reserve Center soon

261 they're coming at the 2nd amendment from every facet of life

That's a little bit of misdirection there.

The current law is that a VA admin type can pronounce a veteran mentally incompetent.  Coburn et. al. want that to require a judge's ruling.  The change would be to free up gun ownership, the status quo is the "bad" position.

The Brady Campaign points out (and I don't actually agree with them, but they're not completely wrong here) that such a veteran can fight to get that ruling reversed, so it's not as bad as Coburn is saying.

That said, the default should be the assumption of competence, and the burden of proof should be on the Government.  Not the other way around.

But Communism was never implemented CORRECTLY before! THIS TIME, we'll get it right!

Leftists don't get it. ANY system works with "the right people" in charge. Monarchy/dictatorship with a philosopher-king would then be the perfect form of government, and much more efficient than a messy democracy.

The problem is that even if you start out with "the right people" running things (a very longshot right there), the chances that you'll eventually get a murderous megalomaniacal asshole in power (hi there, Joe Stalin! How you doin', Pol Pot?) approach unity. That kind of power attracts just the wrong sort of person.

You want a system that does not attract the poiwer-made, and will work reasonably well even if you have incompetent bozos in charge, because most of the time, that's exactly what you'll have. You want the AK-47 of governments.

Okay, that got a chuckle.

Put anything into the hands of the government/liberal judges outside the military/veterans affairs is dangerous.

I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly.  You'd rather keep the status quo (where the VA gets to make the decision, but "guilt" is assumed), than move to actual judicial proceedings where the VA has to make its case?

Or did I completely misread this?

276 "Perfectly explains the liberal movement."
**
Remember the amalgamation between conservatism and liberalism achieved by our American Libertarian founding fathers, known as Classical Liberalism. Few here mention it's veracity. Maintaining that degree of enlightenment required more dedication to the Classics than Americans have exerted in education. How many eschew the studies of Classical Liberal Arts as a waste of time and money. AT LEAST during leisure, don't leave out what enriches the mind and human spirit. Socialists usurped the word "liberal" in order to misuse and abuse, to taint and ruin its true meaning in our minds. There was a WORLD of difference between the American Revolution, the "Great Cause" of Liberty as Washington called it, that led to the US Constitutional Republic, contrasted so starkly by the series of bloody French Revolutions for socialists to juxtapose themselves as the new aristocracy reigns of terror. After assassinating their monarchy and all aristocrats, it didn't take long for Napoleon to cause his world wars for empire, "compassionate" wars to save everyone from themselves, delivered through "liberty, equality, and brotherhood" propaganda. And today, the US interventionist wars (including the Arab Spring alliance with terrorists and advancing the Wahhabi global caliphate, ALL FUNDED BY US TAX PAYERS with or without our approval) are sold as if we're advancing freedom for all when in fact it's the opposite.

Virtue, for instance, is an ideal. Not all idealism is Marxist or evil at the root. When the politicians determine our fate, our thoughts, what our ideals must be and how we must achieve those ideals, of course that is evil at the root. Inevitably, that route denies unalienable "Natural" Rights. That route mows down humanity while inflating ego obesity.

words, just words ... make all the difference

As with the early Romantic movement, do recall that the Industrial Revolution had its drawbacks, depending on your status at birth. For labor to slave away 12 hour days 6 days a week with no holidays excepting Christmas Day, no benefits, and STILL not be able to afford hygienic living standards (let alone a doctor/hospital) even with every family member working and contributing to the household expenses, you can't excuse the cruelty of that status quo. Lyon labor strike was met by all workers being murdered by the French armed forces. Consider for instance the British exporting ALL crops (including potatoes) from Ireland during the potato famine leaving the indigenous population to starve, while touting in Parliament and the Anglican Church that it was God's Will that the Irish starve to death and that the British prosper. After all, the British deserved MORE than any other people on the face of the earth, the rights of the elite within the empire, or simply obese ego -- one law for the rich, another for everyone else.

Entitlement mentality. What we make of it. Expectations.

Regardless of party affiliation, the shared "ideal" of elitism is that they are entitled to be dictators, which they are not. To the degree that liberal applies to socialism, cannibalism destroys society.

First, it's not certain the pyramids were built with slave labor.

Second, the pyramids are not, themselves, something minor - the cutting, moving and placement of the stones is pretty impressive, especially done mostly with bronze and muscle-power.

Third, being nasty to someone that way? Really? Why be so insulting?

For the record, blowing up the pyramids is probably beyond the MB's capabilities (since a pyramid's pretty much the shape large piles of rubble assume), but there's a lot of stuff I'd rather they didn't blow up that probably is within their capabilities, and it's pretty dreadful to contemplate.

364 AllenG, Ft. Hood shooter trial judge was just removed by a civilian US Court of Appeals for the Military for being biased for ruling that making hasan shave his beard. Claimed grooming standards was military command responsibility, not a military judge's, and that the judge could no longer appear biased. Yet hasan committed the shootings sans beard. Might make it a wee bit hard to identify him now that he has went full jihadi. One would think a military judge would have the right to enforce military standards in his own courtroom. But with civilian overlords, not so much.

387 NATO announced Tuesday that it will deploy Patriot anti-missile systems near Turkey's southern border, shoring up defenses against the threat of cross-border attacks from Syria and bringing the United States and its allies closer to Syria's civil war.

The alliance's 28 members decided to limit use of Patriots solely for the defensive purpose of warding off the mortar rounds and shells from Syria that have already killed five Turks. But the announcement also appeared to be a message to Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime at a time when Washington and other governments fear Syria may be readying its chemical weapons stockpiles for possible use.

Meh.  At the beginning, Jerry Jones was fine (if classless).  Despite his revisionism, he was not the GM in those early years, Jimmy Johnson was.  He assumed that role after he fired Johnson.

Don't forget that Johnson roster won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years (and should have 3-peated, but the star players basically phoned it in for one year in protest when Jimmy was fired).

483 Nearly two years after Wall Street waged a successful campaign to keep consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren from running the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the incoming senator will be tapped to serve on the Banking Committee, according to four sources familiar with the situation. It's a victory for progressives who battled to win her a seat on the panel that oversees the implementation of Dodd-Frank and other banking regulations. Warren knocked out Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts in the most expensive Senate contest of 2012, with Wall Street spending heavily to beat Warren, a former Harvard law professor. Sources also told HuffPost that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) will be named to the panel. Warren's ascension to the panel gives her influence over regulators and the industry that non-panel members don't enjoy. Just what we need.

Speaking at a rally for Hamas supporters in Gaza City, Zahar said, “Our hands are extended to Fatah to join the program of [armed] resistance and the liberation of Palestine.”

Addressing Fatah, he added, “Come and join the program of resistance and stop wasting your time and effort. Let’s join hands and carry the rifle together.”

“They no longer see our people as terrorists and murderers who have no respect for women and children and who only love blood,” Zahar said. “Westerners came to the Gaza Strip and saw that we are among the most civilized people.”
