I could be smart and say "Mr. Spock," since he did appear in one two-part episode.*  But it would have to be Mr. Data.

(* In another episode Picard says he attended the wedding of "Sarek's son."  I wonder if that was supposed to be Spock?  Of course, ol' Sarek, with his penchant for younger human females, could very well have had more than one kid.)

35 I didn't see the new thread in time so I will shamelessly repost my thoughts on possible woman VP pick:

I was looking over the list on Wikipedia (yeah, yeah, I know but I feel lazy today) wondering what the possibilities might be. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a governor as "someone ready to serve as president" seems to indicate that more than a congressman or Senator.

Linda Lingle - Served in Hawaii from 2002-2010. Not sure if she's RINO material or not but it would also be hilarious to grab someone from Obama's other home state. Of course, it's not like Hawaii means much in electrorial politics. She is Jewish and supported Palin as VP. Vetoed civil unions. Currently running for senate so he might not take her away from that but she is experienced from what I have read so far.

Susana Martinez - Keeps coming up and what little I have found out about her she seems pretty solid on what record she has. Still green but not heard to be more experienced than DogEaterSupreme.

Nikki Haley - Given her support of Romney I think she would be more likely than Martinez and they have been serving for the same amount of time. She's had plenty of national exposure in a little time.

Kind of rare for a president. So I say that Obama is running against Obama.

Told you that a sitting President was going to run as a Washington outsider.

Nonsense. It was widely known a year ago that WP8 was highly unlikely to run on existing models. Nokia had to be aware of this as it had already announced a strategy for the two code bases, with 7.x pushing downward to bring smartphone feature to markets still economically limited to feature phones, while WP8 would be competitive at the high end.

If you put WP8 on the Lumia 900 it would be almost indistinguishable from running 7.8 because most of the major new stuff WP8 brings requires hardware no existing WP device has.

Anyone see that Frank Luntz special on Fox last night?

I don't particularly like Luntz....but I caught the replay of it....well, the first part of it.

Allan West was the first guy to speak.

The audience loved him.

This was an audience, that when asked....was about 75% former Barky voters.

After West finished speaking, Luntz asked...."Would you vote for this guy? Show of hands."

And all but one or two people raised their hands.

I still think that Allan West would be a great pick for the VP slot.

I didn't know that West has two Masters degrees in poly sci....something that was mentioned last night.

Indeed - a good concept.  It's sad that we've come to this pass.  I think it's part of a greater cultural problem - many people see kids as just one more lifestyle accessory, rather than as people.  This kind of thoughtless buffoonery is why we can be sure the tyranny is coming.  Too many people in this country are just too damn stupid.  They need to be told what to do, and they WANT to be told what to do.

189 Paramus police nabbed a New York City man they say was peeping on women as they tried on bathing suits in a dressing room at the Lord & Taylor at the Fashion Center mall. The suspect is 37 -year- old Luis Alvarez from NYC, according to a news release from Lt. John Scully. He was arrested on June 29, charged with invasion of privacy and later released. Police are asking anyone with information on the case to contact Detective James Teehan at 201-262-3400 ext. 375. Several women reported seeing the man peering through the gaps in the changing room stalls, located in the womenÂ’s bathing suit section of the store. A 47-year-old woman from Wyckoff told police she saw the man peering at her. She screamed when she noticed him, and the man ran off. Lord & Taylor security found the man and held him until police arrived. Store surveillance video shows the man going in and out of the changing area several times, police said. Well after all it is a hat day and maybe he was only trying to enjoy the Air Conditioner and getting out of the heat?

191 I was talking about some skinny English men not rodeo attire.  I know, weak, but I needed a comeback.

192 No way Condi gets Veep if Mitt wants to retain the base.    She was on the wrong side of nearly every significant policy decision as Bush's SOS, and she's pro-choice.

193 One kitten PG as you know is at the vet's office.  The others are playing it smart, staying in the shade.

Alleged phone interview did not happen this morning.  They never called at scheduled time.  So frak them.

Just ordered another battery for netbook that lasts 7 hours and now to get back to writing.

195 My father changed his last name in the 1950s. The name was a single syllable that was a homonym for a rude word in English. He changed the vowel to be different, so it wouldn't be so rude (I am deliberately being a bit evasive here, as I don't really want to out myself completely on the blog). Since this was the 1950s, people theoretically had the right to change their names, but, since it was the 1950s, the judge didn't really like it. My Dad's case was about the fourth one scheduled for that morning. In case after case, the judge harangued the people changing their names, asking them, "Son, why do you want to change your name? Isn't the name of your father good enough for you?" and so on, essentially forcing them to justify their decisions in great detail before (eventually) approving the decisions. When it came time for my Dad to have his day in court, he stands up and the judge immediately starts in on him. "Son, what is the matter with your name." My Dad replies, "Judge, have you read my petition?" The judge looks at the petition, then he looks at my Dad and says, "Is that pronounced the way I think it is?" "Yes, Judge." "And you served 4 years in the Navy?" "Yes, Judge." "Motion approved." 20 seconds from start to finish, the only name change that even came close to that level of rapidity. He loved to tell that story.
