Bleg: 20 days left. 20! Can you think back to how you felt in January of 2009? Do you remember that feeling of anguish? How about the last four years? What are you doing to ensure that doesn't happen this time around? Have you donated money to Romney's campaign? Have you volunteered?
I'm taking off election day and volunteering for Romney's election day team. I used link in the top right of the sidebar. They contacted me the same day I filled out the form. If you can't take the day off, they can still use volunteers for the afternoon/evening. If you're not in a swing state then you can donate money to help Romney run ads in contested states or you can make phone calls to other states at Mitt Romney's Website.

Romney is leading Ohio in all turnout models that have any likelihood of occurring:
O+2.43% - Current RCP Average
R+7.35% - Average using the 2004 turnout model
O+2.25% - Average using the 2008 turnout model
R+4.09% - Average using the 2010 turnout model
R+3.37% - Average using the 2012 registration model
R+1.16% - Average using the D+3 turnout model
Reason Obama is leading in the polls there? D+6, D+7, D+9, and D+11.

Was the security contract policy no tolerance for drug/alcohol use or drug/alcohol abuse? The 24/7 on call requirement means that no alcohol or drugs be on the premises ever, and that medical personnel be summarily prosecuted for shooting up, gross dereliction of duty.
Those who contracted the contractors in the STATE DEPT. are to be held accountable FIRST. If any one if fired, start at the top.

Mitt Romney is now within four points of President Obama in Pennsylvania, according to a poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac University.
The president has 50 percent support to Romney's 46 percent. Romney has gained four points, and Obama has lost the same amount, since he trailed Obama, 54-42, in a CBS News/New York Times/Quinnipiac poll in mid-September. The latest survey comes on the heels of several other polls showing the former Massachusetts governor within striking distance of the president in a state Republicans haven't carried since 1988.Oh trolls.....

>>Lastly, Romney’s remark exposed something on flagrant display all night. It’s that he’s a boss—and only a boss. He sees everything from the throne of a massive realm: Massachusetts, Bain Capital, and the many businesses he’s “had the privilege of staffing,” or however he puts it.
and earlier:
>>Third, the binders response raises the specter of a still more hideous idea. Before answering the question, Romney had been reminded that women earn about 72 percent what their male counterparts do—and his response was to say, “Exactly! That’s why, given half a chance, I hire women!” Bottom line, Romney recruits women because they look good and they come cheap.
Flagrant display of leadership!!!1! My lady parts are so scared.

Morning Wood:
At UVa's Center for Politics, Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball has moved the Pa presidential and Senate races to "lean" Democratic from their previous "likely" rating.
We also cannot ignore the polls showing tightening margins in both Pennsylvania's presidential and Senate contest, so we're moving both to leans Democratic, down from likely. Romney probably only wins Pennsylvania in a decisive national victory — we'll be stunned if it accounts for his 270th electoral vote — and the challenger's campaign is wise to downplay his chances both in the Keystone State and Michigan. Meanwhile, it appears that Sen. Bob Casey (D) is running a subpar campaign, and businessman Tom Smith (R) is hammering him with ads. Last month, we ran a list of potential Senate shockers — but none of them would compare to a Casey loss.

Okay, someone explain this to me. At Fox News, via a Drudge link:
Violent Crime Jumps 18% in 2011, First Rise in Nearly 20 Years
Violent crimes unexpectedly jumped 18 percent last year, the first rise in nearly 20 years, and property crimes rose for first time in a decade. But academic experts said the new government data fall short of signaling a reversal of the long decline in crime.
The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics reported Wednesday that the increase in the number of violent crimes was the result of an upward swing in simple assaults, which rose 22 percent, from 4 million in 2010 to 5 million last year. The incidence of rape, sexual assault and robbery remained largely unchanged, as did serious violent crime involving weapons or injury...
First off, ooh look! "Unexpectedly" isn't just for economic news anymore!
Secondly, how can a nearly 20% rise in violent crime after twenty years of relatively steady decline NOT signal a "reversal" in the "long decline in crime?" I understand that, longitudinally speaking, this could just be a severe aberration; but 18% isn't exactly a blip on the radar! That's a pretty hefty swing in the wrong direction! "Simple assault" is a pretty minor crime, yes, but it's still a crime that could involve bodily harm. And one has to ask, "What would cause more people to indulge in simple assault? And will that behavior escalate?"
Just look at the groups primarily affected by this upswing in violent crime:
The growth in violent crime experienced by whites, Hispanics, younger people and men accounted for the majority of the increase.
In other words, most of the groups that are the most severely affected by the lousy economy and stagnant job market. The only such group missing from that list is blacks, and their incidence of violent crime has unfortunately been high for a long time.
I'm not saying that crime is going to suddenly start skyrocketing, but I'd say that this aberration may be the start of a worrying trend if the economy doesn't start to improve SOON.
Romney/Ryan!

This has to be the dumbest "controversy" ever. Completely manufactured. Perhaps if they spent as much time trying to figure out how Obama can now claim to have always considered the Libyan embassy attack terrorism, but still decided to go to bed the night that it was happening then went to a Las Vegas fundraiser the next day. I'm sure the mainstream media would be just as forgiving to a Republican President for doing that.
BTW, perhaps if Obama thought it was terrorism, he could've told his press secretary and all the spokespeople who went on the Sunday morning shows in the aftermath of the attack since they focused solely on the YouTube video as being the cause for many days after the death of Ambassador Stevens and the others. Moreover, perhaps media can ask Obama why security wasn't increased at the embassy prior to the attacks when there were multiple warnings about the possibility of attacks and it was the anniversary of 9/11.
Even accepting the premise that Hillary had primary responsibility for the security at the embassy, why didn't Obama -- he of the many missed meetings regarding national security -- not take an active interest in ensuring top-notch security of Americans at our new embassy in an unstable country with a huge presence of terrorist elements that intensely dislike the United States?
At the next debate, Romney should forget about talking about whether Obama overtly said the attack on the Libyan embassy was due to a video (he simply didn't at his initial press conference) and focus on all of these missteps by Obama and his administration before and after the embassy attack. That's more damaging to Obama, in my view.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 49% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns the vote from 47%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and another two percent (2%) are undecided.
In the 11 swing states, Mitt Romney earns 49% of the vote to President ObamaÂ’s 48%. One percent (1%) likes another candidate in the race, and two percent (2%) are undecided.

Okay, math problem for the morons:
In a certain city council race there are nine at-large city-wide seats, and each voter has nine potential votes, each of which must go to a different candidate or to no one.
Is it easier to win a seat on that nine-member council, or is it easier to run in a smaller segment of the city (say, a ward made up of one-ninth of the city) in a single-seat race?
What's the math for this in a general case?

Here’s how CNN.com tries to strap legs onto the legless “binders” meme:
[Romney will] have to do some serious repair to regain traction, political experts say.
It went on and on and on. With this slipped in, in the middle:
Undecided women voters who were watching the debate and participating in a focus group in Ohio reacted positively to Romney's anecdote during dial-testing for CNN. *The responses from the women jumped sharply* on-screen when Romney spoke about workplace flexibility.
WomenÂ’s first response was to love RomneyÂ’s answer. That wasnÂ’t part of the Expected Narrative. So they are laboring heavily to manufacture a new one, to convince those same women that their first reaction was wrong. Pathetic.

That's nice. I filled that out two weeks ago and I haven't heard/seen anything. Granted, it I was in Mexico when I filled it out and I have been out of town since the 8th on work. But Mrs. Squibob has made any mention of a phone call from Mitt or Tagg.

Holy moly.
In just one day of polling AFTER the last debate that Obama supposedly "won", Romney has surged from being down 3 to Obama to up 1 in today's Rasmussen Swing State polling.
Now this poll includes states such as MI and PA which weren't even considered possible till recently. This is DEVASTATING news for Obama.

Why did Candy Cowley come to the debate armed with a transcript of that Rose Garden speech?
Even if she claims now...that she didn't have a transcript with her...
She talked like she had it memorized.
Why would she have studied up on that speech before the debate?
I know...we know the answer.

This goes to the essential flaw in Team Obama's strategy. The president and his advisers have been so intent on disqualifying Mr. Romney that they have done a miserable job defending the president's record and virtually nothing to frame a second-term agenda.
Karl Rove is a dunce. This wasn't an essential flaw in his strategy, it was the only realistic option he had. He couldn't run on his record because it's a disaster. The only chance he had was to make Romney into an unacceptable alternative, but Mittens destroyed that image in the first debate.
I for one plan to savor the next two and half weeks because the left wing rage and panic will be glorious.

For what it's worth from Houston, TX: in 2008, you couldn't spit without hitting an Obama sign or bumper. Lots of co-workers were talking about Obama. He had a big splashy headquarters building in downtown Houston with one whole side of it covered with that disgusting "Hope" painting.
This year? The HQ looks unoccupied and the painting has been vandalized. No one -- and I mean not a single person -- has said anything about Obama at work. I had one person ask me about the debats and that's it. There are a few Obama yard signs in the clueless rich liberal neighborhoods but nothing like 2008. There are very, very few Obama bumper stickers. Most of the ones I have seen are from 2008 (meaning they are on cars that are at least four years old -- likely because the owners can't afford a new one under Obama's economy). The only one I saw that said "Obama 2012" was on a Prius driven by a fat middle aged white woman (likely worried about her unused womyn's parts).
That said, though, I've seen very few Romney stickers or yard signs. I've got the only yard signs for Romeny in my neighhorhood, but there aren't any others up at all for any candidate.
The good news? We have been spared most of Bambi's commercials. He ran one for a while during the Demo convention and that's it.

His Individual Retirement Account could be worth in the neighborhood of $87 million, as documented in an extensive report from the Washington Post.
But as for a strictly public pension? Zip, zero.
Romney only served one term as governor of the Bay State and did not take a salary, so he is eligible for nothing.
So while Romney appears headed for a happier retirement financially, he'll be footing his own bill — unless, of course, he wins next month. In that case, his nest egg will be even that much bigger than Obama's.

Obama's problem is that he can certainly go on indefinately about the proposals he's against, but he can't seem to find a single proposal of his own that he can tell us to be for.

Well, not that exactly but I saw a tweet a day or so before the debate from a reporter....but not a well known one. She said that she overheard one of the questioners telling someone that he wasn't even registered to vote and that he was going to give them some bogus voter registration.
It wouldn't surprise me if every question asked came from an Axelrod relative.

No inflation, just an increase in price of everything you might put in a typical basket of goods purchased on an ordinary day. Statistics, lying their ass off since we decided to inflate out of our debt like a banana republic.

Romney told Obama: "You also have investments in Chinese companies. You also have investments outside the United States. You also have investments through a Caymans trust."
ItÂ’s an accurate set of statements when you consider investments made by managers of the Illinois pension fund in which Obama has an account.
As we noted in reviewing previous claims about RomneyÂ’s investments in China, the investments involved are indirect and -- as far as anybody has said -- made without the knowledge of the account holder.
With that clarification, we rate RomneyÂ’s statement Mostly True.

269 I saw something on Twitter last night suggesting that someone has proof that the Obama campaign spoofed Gallup, and got several campaign operatives into the debate hall and at least one of the questioners was an active campaign worker. Anyone else see this or hear about it? This would be pretty explosive if it can be proven.
Posted by: rockmom at October 18, 2012 11:44 AM (aBlZ1)
I don't believe in 'explosive' anymore when it comes to this guy. He's numbed the populace to all sorts of violations that would've gotten ANY OTHER PRESIDENT IN HISTORY - impeached and/or indicted and jailed. This is no different. It's just confirming what conservatives have been speculating would happen for a month and saying 'happened' for a couple days now. You won't see any real discussions about 'rule of law' until after Obama loses. And even then, they won't be about Obama. They'll be about Romney. The traitorous lying subversive shitweasles...

Well we all knew it was coming obama is backed into a corner... He sees his Presidency ending. He can't have that so lets bring in Allred to accuse Romney of something. Couple that with the alleged october surprise, and here we are...

No it's me, Donna... Not a troll I went to Drudge and went to his twitter and it was there ... At least a few minutes ago. It doesn't specifically say Romney, but Allred is a big Lib so one would guess it would be against him...

I think that might be a troll, I'm not seeing anything on Twitter from Drudge about Gloria Allred.

Remember, Jabba the Crowley and CNN were the ones the chose what questions were asked of the 80 people there. And they only asked 11 or 12. So even if there were no plants, which I of course doubt, they were going to pick the questions that believed helped Obama the most.

#298 Unfortunately, Warren is being helped by all the Obama ads running in Boston to reach New Hampshire voters. MA is the one state where he may have coattails. That's why Scott Brown has had to emphasize areas where he agrees with Obama or Obama has supported his legislation. Many straight-ticket Democrats in MA.
