Good Morning Morons, its Thursday January 12, 2012. On this day in 1773 the first public museum was founded in the U.S. Guess where it was at?  That backwards-ass Charleston, SC.

Nanny Bloomberg will not cut the number of bars in NYC

The original concern was the number of bars serving minors. I donÂ’t see how cutting the number of bars would help that. This is another ploy by the prohibitionists like MADD.  “Do it for the kids” they say and then attack all. If they were really concerned about bars serving minors they would do what SC does. Get busted once face a heavy fine. Second offense lifts your liquor license and you can never get another one. We donÂ’t get too many “repeat” offenders here.

Globull Warming now causing polar bears to turn cannibal

The stupid is epic here. The “dwindling sea ice” myth has long been discredited but doesnÂ’t stop these lying jackals. Polar bears primarily eat seals. Has the seal population dwindled? Not soÂ’s you would notice.  Some of the eco-tard people try to push that meme as well but with the government expanding hunting for natives and others complaining about how destructive the increasing hoards of these animals are IÂ’ll let people with common sense judge that one.

ThatÂ’s it for the news this morning. Mostly the papers are all eat up with the primary in SC. The news on that is all Romney all the time. He is the designated heir and never shall any other meme pass through the press.  Pat Cadell said something interesting on F&F this morning. Although turnout in NH was higher than 2008, the number of actual Republicans voting in the primary was lower. This is in a State that should be considered as RomneyÂ’s home State.

You may remember in the 80s when the eco-terrorists were spiking trees in Northern California. The mills had to install X-ray machines, and then the scum started using ceramic spikes to try to get around it.

My favorite bumper sticker of all time was on a truck in Cloverdale:

Earth First! (We'll log the other planets later)

Now there is a new industry -- high quality fake IDs. Free enterprise has solved the underage drinking problem, albeit not the way the lawmakers intended. A small side effect is high quality fake IDs are also available for illegals and fugitives.

IIRC, he's 61 now. He'd probably be a bit long in the tooth by then. And I think he's already retiring soon.

Yeah, I don't regret it either. He was the most consistently solid conservative in the field this cycle, but his debate performances left something to be desired. Still, he brought some good ideas to the nations' attention like the flat tax idea (we damn sure don't need a VAT, hello, Europe!) and a balanced budget admendment.

He will be missed. I doubt he'll even make it down here by the 31st.

44 @Vic and Joffen,

Perry made some assumptions about the ease of transition from a state-wide race to a national race. His aw-shucks manner obviously worked well in Texas, but he was unable to translate it to the national stage. He looked like a buffoon.

What really saddens me were the occasional flashes of a confident politician who seemed to be able to handle anything thrown at him and turn it around on his attackers. If he can hone those skills, we will see him again.

47 The SCOTUS is still hard at work:

Reporting from Washington—
The Supreme Court refused to put new legal limits on the use of questionable eyewitness testimony at trials, ruling Wednesday that juries must weigh the evidence and decide what is true.

The 8-1 decision came as a disappointment to some criminal law experts who say false identifications by eyewitnesses are a leading cause of wrongful convictions.

64 The "inevitability" of Romney is a myth generated by the MFM who wants him as the Republican candidate. That way they can be assured of a liberal in the WH.

Talking about a "conservaitve congress" to hold him in check is ludicrous. This is the same congress that couldn't cut a nickle out of the budget this year. They calimed they cut 38M but after the smoke cleared we learned that that was only a cut in the rate of increase.

We still have well over a 1,000 delegates to go and NOTHING is settled until at least we get past super Tuesday in March.

67 Good morning folks...thanks for the links, Vic.

If Romney actually lets people like Bolton (and Bork) influence his decision-making (rather than just having them around for window dressing), it is encouraging, yes. If we're gonna have a Romney administration, we sure want it packed with as many non-Romney types in supporting positions as possible.

As for his VP pick...politically, it would make a lot of sense to pick a solid conservative to make peace with and motivate the base...especially one that could help deliver a crucial battleground state (such as the one I live in), but I wonder if that's what he'll do. I mean, has he done much of anything to reassure the base up till now? I wonder (and worry) that he might actually be politically tone deaf to the point of thinking that he doesn't need the base in the general either and will end up picking some "moderate" Romney clone who is no threat to overshadow the nominee, counting on the anti-Obama sentiment to be enough to get them all to the polls anyway. I hope not, but I do wonder.

85 I still hope Perry makes a showing in South Carolina.

However,  looking at this rationally,  I note these things about Romney:

1. He does understand the grass roots and the Tea Party,  even if he hasn't been visible.  Why else would he make the effort to get the endorsements of DeMint, Bolton, Haley, and all of the former Vatican Envoys?

2. He also understands the power of a non-competitor staying in to siphon off votes,  since Huckabee did it to him in 2008.  This is why he is nuking Newt. (The fact that Newt didn't see this coming is a sign of why he would not be a good candidate.)

3. He also understands the Obama machine and has built up an impressive war chest.

4. The speech after he won New Hampshire tells us he can actually exhibit some emotion,  which he has been keeping under wraps pretty much.

I am watching this with interest.  As I have often said,  my primary isn't until May,  so by then this will probably be sewn up.  I think it good to look not at what people say,  but what they DO.  I am offering these observations only as one who hopes that we have someone,  regardless of who,  who will get Obama gone from the White House.

Is the base already starting to sit it out, even in a blue State like NH?

Keep in mind that SC has open primaries and the Dems are no holding one this year so they will be free to cross over and reek havoc.

93 The MFM is going to try to make a meal out of the Marine's urinating on dead taliban video.
Just spitballing here, but could that be shorthand for a statement on the ROE?

The hypocrisy of the media outrage is particularly blatant for a class of people that celebrated Maplethorpe or Larry David's peeing on the Jesus picture.

94 Marines pissing on Taliban bodies is not "desecration," which is the alleged offense. I would call it improving the bodies.
If anything, it's a waste of good Marine piss.

95 I refused to link to that story about the Marines. That kind of shit has gone on in every war we have had since 1776. The MFM is just trying their damnedest to shit on the military again.

121 A judge has blocked all those pardons Haley Barbour dumped on the citizens of Miss. They did not give 30 day notice. Hopefully, the pardons will be considered null and void. When the world and the left can drum up some outrage over the fact that the Taliban behead innocent people, stone women and homosexuals to death, and oppress women back to the pre-middle ages, I'll see if I can rustle up some anger over Marines pissing on corpses.

NH was just the Indies who support Paul and the Dems picking the candidate for us.  That's why these primaries and caucuses should be party only.  As for fewer Repubs voting, maybe some have changed to Indies, wouldn't surprise me.

129 All of the "alternative" news sites (think the FEMA camp/ buy ammo sites) are super freaked out about SOPA. In fact, they see it as an attempt to censor the internet and shut down sites they don't like.

Since Drudge and others are being monitored by Homeland Security, and given the fact that everyone on this site qualifies as a "domestic terrorist" I'm going to throw my lot in with the tin foil hat crowd and say SOPA is a bad idea.

132 There probably ARE fewer Republicans in NH now than there were in 2008, and in 2004.  The brand was really, really damaged by Bush, DeLay, Foley, et.al.  Many of those "independent" voters in NH are actually former Republicans who just didn't want that designation anymore.  The state did elect a pretty conservative Republican Senator in 2010.
