Good Morning Morons its Friday, January 13th, 2012. Yes, Its Friday the 13th, stay at home today and drink, but make sure its good stuff and not home made. Today is the traditional bad luck day. Some say it got that name because it was a Friday 13th that Jesus was crucified. Me I have to give that some grains of salt since the calendar as we currently know it had not yet been invented. Others say it is bad luck because it was a Friday 13th that the Knights Templar were rounded up to be tortured and executed for the crime of being rich. (See the Democrats didnÂ’t invent that shit). In any case, letÂ’s be careful out there today.

Perry's part time congress idea to be submitted in a bill from an IL Republican
Must not be too much of a crackpot idea. When congress was first convened it was more “part time”. Perhaps it is time to go back to that. But I would prefer a full time Congress dedicated to repealing bills for about 50 years first.

Latest on the SOTA piece of shit
Sen. Patrick Leahy (C-Vt.) pushed back against criticism of his online piracy bill, the Protect IP Act, in a statement on Thursday, but said he will offer an amended version ahead of the Senate vote on Jan. 24.
Ah weÂ’ll make some cosmetic changes to the POS. Leahy will break out his polishing cloth and attempt to shine this turd up.
Both bills would empower the Justice Department and copyright holders to demand that search engines, Internet providers and payment processors cut off access to sites “dedicated” to copyright infringement.
Note they say NOTHING about the ability of the government to shut down sites based on rumor and accusation.
Hey asshole I have a better idea. LetÂ’s flush this turd for good.

SC Democrat Chair plays the race card, its all they have
So whatÂ’s the beef? TheyÂ’re holding a Republican debate on Martin Luther commie day.
South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Dickhead Harpoonian insinuated that Republican presidential candidates are campaigning on racist platforms, and indicted Mitt Romney with being too “meek” to take positions on racial issues, saying that he should also condemn the upcoming Republican debate, scheduled for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
(I may have edited that some). Note that this guy has long been known in SC as a raging idiot asshole. The news loves him though which is why he threw this crap out there.

Red wine researcher accused of falsifying data
HARTFORD, Conn. — A University of Connecticut researcher known for his work on red wine’s benefits to cardiovascular health falsified his data in more than 100 instances, university officials said Wednesday.
UConn [sic] officials said nearly a dozen scientific journals are being warned of the potential problems after publishing his studies in recent years.
The researcher, Dr. Dipak Das, did some studies of resveratrol, an ingredient in red wine that has shown potential for promoting health.
But Dr. Nir Barzilai, whose research team conducts resveratrol research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, told the Associated Press that Das is not a major figure in the field. The new allegations will not make a material difference to resveratrol research, which is being conducted extensively around the world with encouraging results from many labs, Barzilai saidÂ…

Heritage unveils this year's index of economic freedom. It shows continued decline
Note the US under Obama last year dropped low enough to be out of the “free” category. This continues a long term trend for the U.S. as it slides further into socialism/communism. If you have not seen this index you need to take a look. I have been following it for years.
This year the U.S. is 10 on a continued downward trend. The last year Republicans were in charge we were ranked 5.

The way to achieve goals of repealing bad laws and balancing the budget is relatively easy.
All you need to do is give congress incentives to do it. Pay congressmen 500 grand a year plus an additional 500 grand bonus if they complete all their budget duties on time and the total budget is less than 18% of GDP. Senators would get 750 grand with a matching bonus. Toss in a generous housing allowance and free NetJets travel.
You would be amazed how quickly the government could be paired down to a reasonable size if the people spending the money had a reason to do it.

A lot of common-sense things could be done if we actually had control over our government. Congress, however, makes its own rules, and since we have no honest, real-world candidates to pick from, we're left with power-hungry, egotistical maniacs in nice suits who say one thing on the campaign trail to win, and quite another when they get there.
They absolutely will not reduce their power or influence. Power corrupts, and we're getting a lesson in that every day, good and hard.
We are so boned, and we've done it to ourselves by not demanding accountability from our politicians. There is no recourse for recalling any pol who violates the Constitution. Why we put up with the shit we do from Washington is a mystery to me.

LOL, I actually used to have a program that would do that. I got it when our bosses at work told us to limit our sentence construction to a tenth grade reading level. The first question I asked was HTFDWDT?
I got this program and the first thing I tested it on said 14th grade. I played with a few things and nothing changed. So I made a copy of the paper and then shortened every sentence just by making it gibberish.
That cut the grade level down but filled it up with underlined incomplete sentences. After that I figured it out. If you made long sentences it jacked up the grade level. Nothing else mattered. In short, it was a POS.

By making it possible for the vast middle to afford being in the job, you can attract the right people.
An honest press would also go a long way towards restoring a bit of sanity to our electoral process, too. If I were to run for orifice today, I'd last about three seconds given the outright hostility of the MFM to any sort of conservative candidate.
I can't figure out a way of changing that without violating the First Amendment, tho'. The press is free to do whatever it wishes, and it wishes to be decidedly anti-American. They are doing this of their own free will, mostly.
I often wonder, where are all the normal people? Morons excluded, naturally. I read comments from other sites and am amazed at some of the rediculous ideas that some people have and how blind to Reality most of them are. That poll from a couple of days ago, the one that said more Americans are concerned about the disparity of wealth here is really scary, as it's gone up recently. This tells me that there are way too many people who just can't think for themselves and are so easily led to believe the most outrageous ideas.
I once had confidence that there was a real "Silent Majority" of people who were just busy with the rigors of modern life, but who still had a modicum of common sense and a grasp of the way things should be, and that eventually they'd get to the polls to correct the course of the Ship of State.
I'm not so sure about that anymore.

California's cellphones, tablet computers, power tools and hundreds of other portable electronic devices will be required to have energy-stingy battery chargers beginning next year.
The California Energy Commission, by a 3-0 vote Thursday, approved first-in-the-nation efficiency standards designed to drive stakes through the hearts of about 170 million so-called vampire charging systems that waste as much as 60% of the electricity they suck from outlets.
Yeah, who cares if it drives up the product prices for everyone on the planet. It's for Gaia. LA Slimes link.

You know? I thank God for our fighting men and women, but I often wonder at their sanity. Given the scorn and derision with which they are viewed by their own government (not to mention too much of the population), I am often amazed at their sense of duty in spite of all that.

If you made long sentences it jacked up the grade level. Nothing else mattered. In short, it was a POS.
Posted by: Vic at January 13, 2012 08:10 AM (YdQQY)
Actually, reading level is determined by two factors: sentence length and the average number of syllables per word. A high number in either case bumps up the reading level. You could probably find out exactly how grade level is calculated with some searching, but I'm too lazy.Posted by: Ed Anger - Certified Kos Kid at January 13, 2012 04:44 AM (7+pP9)

Makes me glad I will be out of town all next week, only problem is that because of that I will have to vote today and I still have no clue other than not Huntsman. I can't find an affirmative reason to vote for any of the others.

You don't need to be a lawyer to tell if someone needs to be boarded out. In fact, I would say that it actually hurts. There are a lot of things that make a person unfit to be a military guy that are not illegal and some things that are illegal that have no bearing.
I have sat on a few boards myself. I managed to make 3 cruises to the WESPAC, 2 in Vietnam, with over 6,000 crewmen and not a single JAG officer aboard. We did damn fine.

Vic:
My father, (an officer with no military background) was assigned the defense of somebody facing a court martial. He said the guy was a young kid who made a stupid mistake that would follow him the rest of his life. He stole a .45. My father convinced him the Army would eventually find it, and when they did it was off to Leavenworth. So he talked the kid into telling him where he hid it. My father threw the pistol off a New York ferry, the Army never found the weapon and the kid was acquitted.

Posted by: HH at January 13, 2012 08:52 AM (KB0hv)
It's not a matter of power, it's a matter of control. Controlling that thing at speed would be like flying in close formation at supersonic speed in rough air with minimal control. You might do it after years of research and wind tunnel work, with computer operated controls like fly by wire, but the problem is the thing is dependant on running along the ground at bullet speeds, anything upsets steady state conditions and you are gone in milliseconds. In an aircraft, a quick deviation from a straight line of 10 feet is not a problem, along the ground, disaster.

More Recovery Winter™ news:
Almost 5000 employees will be out of a job when Food Lion closes 113 stores in the next 30 days. Looks like most of the Jacksonville stores are going down. This is going to leave a lot of strip malls without anchors, which is going to kill many of the already struggling smaller businesses in the strip malls they occupy.
Speaking as a business owner whose center doesn't have an anchor right now (and who is probably going to pull the trigger on his own business sometime in the middle of next month), that's going to be fatal. Given the economy down here right now, there's no way Barky takes FL. The anti-Obama bumper stickers are rampant.
