Oy. Tuesday.

ICYMI last Friday, the corruption trial of John Edwards has been delayed because he has a "life-threatening condition" that requires surgery.

Wikipedia, as well as some other websites that I don't care about, will shut down for 24 hours tomorrow in protest of SOPA/PIPA. Rep. Cantor announced yesterday that he would halt all movement on SOPA in the House, but PIPA is still in the works in the Senate.

A Russian tanker began refilling fuel tanks in Nome, Alaska. The town missed its last fuel barge shipment after record snows in November and would run out before the next possible shipment in April.

Speaking of record snows, Seattleites, Portlanders, and the folks in between are bracing for a mega-storm that could dump up to 12 inches in the next 48 hours. Recall the absolute cluster a few years ago after the City of Seattle banned the use of snow salt for environmental reasons. They're not putting up with that BS again.

Good Morning Morons. Its Tuesday, January 17th, 2012. On this day in 1706 Benjamin Franklin was born on Milk Street in Boston, MA. Not much news out there today. Another debate, but at this point, who cares?

Valerie Jarret uses MLK church for political speech and voter registration

These black activist churches get away with this shit all the time. It is an outright violation of IRS 501-3(c) rules and should result in removal of tax free status. But, like Obama, they are protected by blackdemocratium and will never see any action.

House GOP trying to call back $100B in IMF loan guarantees that Dems made in 2009.

Yes, lets give the Europeans $100B to throw in the Greek socialist shithole. It may keep them up another day or two. And make no mistake, any loan for those idiots we guarantee is an outright gift. But good luck in getting it rescinded.

It's the Senate version of SOPA. Slightly, but not significantly, different than SOPA. It also needs to die.

OK thanks. Probably will not die in the Senate since that is controlled by the commies and they want this. They will have to send it back to the House though and it can die there.

14 As usual, this thread came up right after I posted this comment in the ONT this morn: 551 Am I the only one tired of Saint Martin's Day, and of being constantly told by the Media what a Holy Day it is? As I recall, some states didn't even want to mark it. You just know the little kiddies are being worked over by their Re-educators in the public schools to worship him. What if the little boy offended by Christmas and the Pledge of Allegiance is ALSO offended by the "I've Got a Dream" speech? What ABOUT that poor child?? How come no one worries about him?

Probably will never be able to get standing. Maybe a slim chance if filed a writ of mandamus to enforce the law, but even that is doubtful.

28 From Wiki:

A writ of mandamus or mandamus (which means "we command" in Latin; pronounced /manˈdeɪməs/, man-day-məs), or sometimes mandate, is the name of one of the prerogative writs in the common law, and is "issued by a superior court to compel a lower court or a government officer to perform mandatory or purely ministerial duties correctly".

Posted by: Vic at January 17, 2012 03:20 AM (YdQQY)

29 BTW, a writ of mandamus is the scam that gave us the Supreme Court being the primary "interpreter" of the Constitution.

Thanks Vic, and to those fleet fingers of yours.

One would think that an enterprising young legal professional looking to make a name for him or herself could do so if he or she could successfully prosecute a case like that against the head of a government agency.

This administration seems rife with its refusal to enforce so many laws (like immigration), and the SCOAMF bragging about not enforcing laws he doesn't like.

We are well and truly boned. And we've done it to ourselves by electing the exact wrong people.

31 OT: Our missing cat came home last night. Someone had turned him in to the pound, his microchip was scanned and we were called. Happy ending. He was starving, though, which got me thinking. This is a 48 hour kill shelter. Why would they put out money for food? Either the animal will be rescued and fed at home, or the food will be eaten by a soon-to-be-dead animal. It's a business model I hope I never have to experience again.

38 34 - I seriously considered buying one of the B&N readers, but there were a couple basic problems I don't foresee them being able to fix: if the "print" is large enough for an old fart like me (I'm not that old) to read, it requires too much flipping of "pages" to make it useful during a workout. I need a book that sits there open when I'm on my stationary bike, and only requires my eyeballs every few minutes or so. The nice, pretty lady I talked to at B&N, whose job it was to sell these things, essentially told me the thing was not for me. And if books costs more than print versions? Yeesh!

This is just a local story here in NH, but it's just so cruel I have to share it to vent my spleen.

1 Dog Dies, 1 Hurt After Eating Food Laced With Hooks

SOMERSWORTH, N.H. -- A dog owner in Somersworth is devastated after one of her Doberman pinschers was killed and the other hurt after they ate food laced with fish hooks that someone threw in their yard...

I don't care how much you dislike a neighbor's dog, or how much you dislike dogs in general.  If you have a problem with someone's pet, you take it up with the owner.  If you don't want to go to the owner, you call the police.  You do NOT throw sausages laced with fish hooks into the fenced-in backyard of the house where the dogs live.  That's despicable, and the sign of a diseased mind.

I hope they find whoever did it and shove a few fish hooks down his throat.

It's become pretty fucking obvious that when Nooner put together the speeches for Reagan that she didn't believe a word in them, she just liked the way he read them.  Likewise with El JEFe she just squirted whenever he read his 'prompter; no telling what she thought about the content because she's too far gone on her "arthritis medication" by the time she hears it to make any fucking sense of it.

41 -

I probably didn't say that well.  What I meant to say is, if I need to adjust the font to be large enough to read, there are so few words per "page" that I would be scrolling so frequently as to interfere with my workout.  Right now the only problem I have with paper books is that I need to put something heavy on the page to keep it from flipping on its own.  Not a big deal, I just thought an e-reader would solve that small problem, but it won't.

The convenience of zapping a book onto the reader?  Nah, I like going to bookstores... the ones that still exist, that is.
