The Friday document drop was the Obama Labor Department once again telling defense contractors affected by sequestration to violate the WARN Act and fail to issue layoff notices as required by law. The change since the last time Obama did this in July? This time he's telling companies that the Labor Department (by which he means taxpayers) will pay for the cost of WARN Act lawsuits from fired employees who weren't given the legally required layoff notices. Obama is trying to keep millions of layoff notices from being sent by defense contractors in swing-state Virginia just before the election.

Buzzfeed notes the perceptual bias that has led to such divergent views of the economy between Democratic voters and Republican voters. An utterly insane number of Democrats think the economy is hunky-dory, not because it actually is, but because it simply has to be for their other silly beliefs to hold true. As a result, only 15% of Democrats reported that they're hearing mostly bad things about the economy.

It is likely that Khadr will be walking the streets of Canada within the year, joining his mother and his siblings in speaking out in favour of terrorism -- and nothing can be done about it. Given the pressure from labour unions and the left wing media to release Khadr the celebrity terrorist is unlikely to be without work for long.
And shortly after that he will be in the U.S. looking for a target.

The success of Starbucks Coffee Company is one of the most amazing business stories in decades. What started as a single store on SeattleÂ’s waterfront has grown into a company with over 1,600 stores. Just as remarkable is how Starbucks has maintained its commitment to product excellence and employee satisfaction.

I tried watching the Univision special on F&F last night....no English subtitles, which had been advertised. I was able to make out some of what was going on....and their depictions of actual violence with those guns was brutal....including closed circuit footage of a massacre in a night club. They showed the shooters moving through the club, and shooting each patron in the head. I can't imagine this will play well for Obama. I gave it a good thirty minutes, and gave up.
This morning, just after 4 am, while out on the front porch for a smoke, a rather large coyote went loping by. I see more bears in my area than anything else...the coyote was a surprise.

Good grief. Lemme see if I understand this correctly. The Labor Department is telling people to go ahead and violate a law that its supposed to be enforcing but don't worry about it because the DOJ will defend you when you get sued for violating that law over there.
Huh. I was unaware that laws can be repealed like that. I'm sure the Left will think that's just fine when the Romney Administration tells everyone to just ignore Obamacare, right?
I got into a discussion with some people last week that made me want to weep in frustration. Otherwise intelligent seeming adults accused me of lying when I said that government funds come from taxes and fees and thus the only money the government has is it what it takes from me. There really are a bunch of people who think there's a stash out there.

Actually, illegals (or, as the LA Slimes calls 'em, "undocumented immigrants") have been able to get licenses in CA for years. And they've been able to vote, at least in some districts of L.A.
Osama Obama and CA are running things the same way. Give to the illegals, shirkers and/or loudest "minority" groups, take from the productive, and let those why at least try to be productive go under the bus. Spend what you don't have, and push off the reckoning as far as you can.
The only difference is that the CA's toll of those murdered by government policies is lower than Choom Boy's.
Those who are claiming that the Traitor-in-Chief will easily lose the election should look at CA. Despite visible decay, the local incompetents are returned to office over and over. We ignore the warnings at our peril.

FREDERICKSBURG — "A 92 percent drop in absentee-ballot requests by military personnel in Virginia is raising concerns that the Pentagon is failing to carry out a federal voting law."
Another presidential election, Military APPLICATIONS for absentee ballots AWOL.
Who stands up for their votes? All the Congressional funding of wars shows just what Congress cares about, leaving our military personnel stationed abroad without a vote. Once you're "over there so it won't happen here" kiss your vote goodbye. Your application for an absentee ballot is lost. Talk about nipped in the bud.
And where's Congress' outrage? Rather, relief not to hear from our military personnel. And where's Romney/Ryan and the Republican Leadership on this outrage? AWOL
Back in the early 70s, many expressed rage that the draft sent our boys into undeclared and futile war. The songs of the era remind us that our "betters" in government determined that drafted young men were determined old enough to kill and destroy, but not old enough to vote. So Congress fixed the problems by providing volunteer military personnel with the "right" to vote a nonexistent ballot never counted for their next CinC and representatives who represent the government and their own political-financial interests at the dire expense against The People.
While our military personnel votes are not being tallied in elections, their votes are effectively being cast stateside illegally by dead zombies and non-US citizens, with the best intentions of course.
"over there so it won't happen here" ah, the nuance of the mute

Thanks for the news, Gabe and Vic. You know, it’s funny how the SCOAMF’s “greatest orator in the world” shtick gets thrown under the bus when he needs sympathy. As if his butt-lickers in the MFM haven’t already written their “A masterful Obama crushes an amateurish Romney” stories already. In any event, if all the O ads I’ve seen this weekend are any indication, Mitt better be ready to jam that "47%" line back down the Crackhead-in-Chief’s throat, because that’s all he’s going to hear.
Today’s Hollywood story is a familiar one, but just in case there are any ‘rons or ‘ronettes who’ve never heard it, here it is:
One of the most famous cue lines in movies is in Casablanca, when Ingrid Bergman tells Dooley Wilson, who plays Sam, the Rick’s Café pianist-singer, “Play it, Sam. Play ‘As Time Goes By.’”
After the movie became a hit, Wilson was offered a contract as a nightclub headliner. The name of the club changes depending on who tells the story. For us, we’ll say it’s the Mocambo over on Sunset Boulevard (which was also the setting for the Bugs Bunny cartoon “Slick Hare”). Come opening night, Wilson is waiting offstage, listening to the chatter of the packed house, when he feels a tap on his shoulder. Turning around, he sees the Mocambo’s manager standing there, a puzzled look on his face.
“Where’s your piano?” he asked, pointing to the empty stage.
“Don’t have one,” Wilson answered. “I’m a singer.”
“But I know you can play!” the manager protested. “I saw you!”
“Nope,” Wilson shrugged. “Can’t play a note. It was all dubbed.”
And there we are. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

1- Along with higher prices, shortages of some items are being noticed at supermarkets- particularly staples such as flour, sugar, and cornmeal. (This will no doubt feed into shortages of finished foodstuffs down the road).
2- Gas holding steady at $3.99/gallon in Crystal City, VA.
3- Overheard at a Northern Virginia bus stop this AM: "Well, why shouldn't we try someone new? We want four more years of this sh*t?" Nods and "Harrumphs!" all around- and these were *government workers*.

I'm sure they "know." The next question has to be: "so what?"
It takes work to send out layoff notices. It's also bad for whatever productivity you have to maintain at the moment and creates an unhappy staff. If the gubmint tells you that ignoring the law is OK and you will be indemnified, why shouldn't you heed Choom Boy's wishes?
And there's all that pesky shit later about contracts you have being taken away, more federal interference in your business, etc. The Feds giveth, and the Feds can easily taketh away.

I hope we can turn this around but we started way too late. This awakening(Tea Party) should have happened 10 maybe 20 years ago.I was laughed at and ridiculed endlessly for my "chicken little"act for the last 25 years, yet most of my predictions have been spot on.
This government has grown too big.Between its employees/contractors/dependents it has a built in 40 to45% of the vote. They only need to convince anywhere from 6 to 11% of the other retards that inhabit this great nation of ours to vote for thier free shit.As I said,I hope we can turn this around, but without something drastic happening I don't see enough of the sheep waking up before its too late.
FWIW,I will vote for Mitt Romney(as ill as that makes me)but I don't think he is the solution. This country is so far down the shitter it will take an economic miracle to right the ship. They could do it by cutting the government in half(at least)but who the fuck am I kidding.

That lying little shitweasel at the NY Times, Nate Silver, was at it again over the weekend.
To "debunk" the right-wing cries of bias in the polls, Mr. Numbers used his extensive database to run an analysis of polls vs results in presidential elections. Unsurprisingly, it showed a very slight preference for democrats, but nothing that would matter.
Also unsurprisingly, he skewed the analysis to come out with results he wanted. First, he used only the final polls just before the election. No one is arguing these polls come close, they almost always do, that's how the pollsters cover their ass. What republicans are arguing is that 45, 30 and 15 days out, what is being reported to aid the preference cascade?
Second, in his analysis Silver uses only polls of likely voters. What he omitted was all the polls with headlines shouting how the democrat was winning using polls of adults and registered voters.
I see that Jazz Shaw is also questioning the timing over at Hot Air. It sure would be interesting to see the results of a real look into this.

The question isn't what manufacturers -- or even employees -- know as much as it is maintaining the fiction that All Will Be Well for the President Choom supporters right up to the last, ugly second. Perception trumps reality in the mind of the average voter/union member, so if they think that friggin' useless traitor in the White House can pull a rabbit out of his hat somehow, they'll buy in.

Let's be clear about this (as TFG would say...), that guidance did not come from the Labor Department. Oh sure, it had Labor Department letterhead, but all the words came directly from the White House.
That was the office I used to work in when I was at DOL, and the guidance issued in July, and this new take on WARN, is pure BS. It does not, in any manner, shape or form, conform to how the WARN Act was understood and enforced prior to this "regime."

Really can't do more than this without going beyond fair use restrictions. But, here you go....
A New Course for the Middle East
Restore the three sinews of American influence: our economic strength, our military strength and the strength of our values.
By MITT ROMNEY
Disturbing developments are sweeping across the greater Middle East. In Syria, tens of thousands of innocent people have been slaughtered. In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood has come to power, and the country's peace treaty with Israel hangs in the balance. In Libya, our ambassador was murdered in a terrorist attack. U.S. embassies throughout the region have been stormed in violent protests. And in Iran, the ayatollahs continue to move full tilt toward nuclear-weapons capability, all the while promising to annihilate Israel.
These developments are not, as President Obama says, mere "bumps in the road." They are major issues that put our security at risk.
Yet amid this upheaval, our country seems to be at the mercy of events rather than shaping them. We're not moving them in a direction that protects our people or our allies.
And that's dangerous. If the Middle East descends into chaos, if Iran moves toward nuclear breakout, or if Israel's security is compromised, America could be pulled into the maelstrom.
We still have time to address these threats, but it will require a new strategy toward the Middle East.
The first step is to understand how we got here. Since World War II, America has been the leader of the Free World. We're unique in having earned that role not through conquest but through promoting human rights, free markets and the rule of law. We ally ourselves with like-minded countries, expand prosperity through trade and keep the peace by maintaining a military second to none.
But in recent years, President Obama has allowed our leadership to atrophy. Our economy is stuck in a "recovery" that barely deserves the name. Our national debt has risen to record levels. Our military, tested by a decade of war, is facing devastating cuts thanks to the budgetary games played by the White House. Finally, our values have been misapplied—and misunderstood—by a president who thinks that weakness will win favor with our adversaries.

Posted by: Sean Bannion at October 01, 2012 04:53 AM (sbV1u)
MrScribbler: there is certainly a Romney campaign. We're just calling into swing states. Making personal contact with persuadable voters and those who may decide to stay home. Makinf personal appeals to get out and cast the vote.
In 2010 in MA, the Democrats had to spend ten million dollars defending what should have been ten safe Congressional seats.
That's enough money siphoned off other places for us to win six close races in other parts of the country.
The GOP doesn't seriously consider Massachusetts in play. It's probably about a 90% Obama state. But there are activists here, and we are mobilized to GOTV where it matters.

Well, also remember that, for most businesses, Q3 is winding down or Q4 is just starting up. They've burned through all their budget this year, and don't know what next will look like.
My current client, for instance, just finished a couple of concurrent big projects (probably solid 7 figures each), and there's just no money at the moment to start anything new, even though we've still got 3 months left in the year. I'm sure that's the same pretty well across the whole economy.
My plan, if some things with my actual employer (as opposed to the client with whom I'm currently working) don't improve, is to start seriously looking in December.

It's D+3 but actually good for Romney. Romney leads in the poll slightly in all turnout models except 2008.
Their swing state results are bullshit though. The national sample size is only 817 likely voters, if they are using those to determine swing states, then their sample is too small to be valid.
I'll have a post up on this one shortly.

But I don't like this feeling -- reinforced by the media at all levels -- that Romney is phoning it in. The fact that supposedly conservative sites (NRO, Tepid Air, et. al.) are doing their usual full-on "in fairness" head-in-the-sand act doesn't help, either.
I am not liking the prospect that we will get another four years (at least) of Choom Boy. But a lot of signs seem to be pointing to it.

Joke from our Pastor last Sunday:
An Episcopalian, a Presbyterian and a Baptist minister had worked together and started a charity in a city. There was an accident at a charity function and all three, plus their wives, were killed and stood at the pearly gates.
St. Peter calls the Presbyterian forward and tells him "Well sir, you've lived a good life and done many good things, but there's a problem. You have a serious affinity for money. You even married a woman named Penny. It's gonna be a close thing for you to get in.
Then he calls the Episcopalian forward. "Well sir, you've lived a good life and done many good things, but there's a problem. You have a serious affinity for alcohol. You even married a woman named Brandy. It's gonna be a close thing for you to get in."
The Baptist preacher hears all this and goes "Ah forget it. We're never getting in here. Come on Fannie, let's go."

#220 - share your concern a bit. But I think the Wednesday debate will tell - either R shows up and nails O or he mails it in. I think it will be the former.
As for the ads there have been comments that the R strategy is to pour it on in the final weeks assuming nobody is paying attention until then
If you look at the 2 main polls (Gallup and Ras) the race is essentially tied or O has a small lead an R can still win this thing. I am not paying attention to the ABC/NBC/Quinnipiac/etc polls which are still assuming 2008 turnout (or fudging ttheir numbers)
