Happy Wednesday. Just a few items from me.

Romney choked up yesterday talking about a Navy SEAL who died in Benghazi on September 11.

Toyota has recalled 7.43 million cars that pose a fire risk if a sticky door switch is improperly repaired. U.S. owners will be notified by mail if their car needs to be fixed.

Wal-Mart, in a challenge to Amazon, is testing same-day delivery. Same day. What a world.

3 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Wednesday, October 10, 2012.  On this day in 1886 the tuxedo dinner jacket made its debut in Tuxedo Park, NY.  Yes, it is named after the village, not the other way around.

7 Yep, just as I thought. Romney keeps it all bottled, which does give him a nice even emotional base to work from but allows others to accuse him of being robotic. Of course, I don't know if I like my Presidents to be so demonSTRATive (warning, obscure Astaire & Rogers reference!)

The Secret Life of J. Edgar Hoover

No one exemplified paranoia and secrecy at the heart of American power better than J. Edgar Hoover, the original director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Issa reminds me of a little yappy dog. Out on a leash, it acts ferocious, but eventually wants to go back inside and be quiet. That's our boy -- he jumps up and makes a fuss over every illegal action, perceived slight or other disturbance, calls for an "investigation" (which gets him lots o' ink and cred) and then does nothing.

Like Boner, Bitch McConnell and other worthless, high-and-might Repubs, Issa needs to be handed his walking papers. Fewer "investigations" (that produce actual results) would be far more worthwhile than Issa's yapping and toothless pursuits.

48 Upon further reflection,  I am wondering if this is a revolt from the State Department.  Stevens was a career diplomat who,  despite his naivete and flaws,  liked the Libyan people and showed some personal courage in sneaking in to Libya during the fighting.

Other people at State HAD to know that he had requested security increases and that the team had been sent away.  They also knew about all of the attacks.  I bet there are some angry and grief-stricken friends of Stevens who want justice done.

Which brings me back to the diary.   What if that diary was taken from his room and given to someone with the admonition to say it was found in Benghazi?  I make note that the one person who was most upset about the diary was that Hillary assistant from State,  who has hitched his wagon to hers.  NONE of these questions would have been asked effectively if CNN hadn't acquired that diary.

I've been saying that from the get-go; that there are plenty of pissed off people that knew Stevens but are wondering where to turn to get the real story out without suffering the same fate.  That's why I was wondering if, by that CBS reporter covering the story (Cheryl Atkisson or something like that) that covered Fast and Furious, she's letting it be known that they can come to her to blow the whistle on the fucks who did this.  Because they sure as hell can't trust the rest of the quisling media.

63 #53  Yes,  and that is why Anderson Cooper having the diary made sense,  in a way,  because he had seen the stuff in Cairo and perhaps knew Stevens.

I noticed a marked turn in reporting on Romney right after that (such as Candy Crowley defending him on tax deductions).  Not anything overt,  but a change in tone.  I wondered then if that diary had been passed around and more than one reporter knew stuff.

I had not seen that about the CBS reporter.  Lara Logan is also highly critical and gave that speech about how the administration has been lying about the Taliban for two years.  THAT left a mark,  because Leslie Marshall was on Fox yesterday attacking Logan as "emotional" because she had been raped,  inferring that her criticisms (actually based on reporting she had done in Afghanistan) were not fact-based.

I am interested to see who will testify before Issa today.

If the MSM was doing there jobs, there would be torches and pitchforks in DC by now.  Because those shits are covering for Obama or just too God damned stupid to understand what they have been told, the Republicans have to force the story out there.  I knew it was a terrorist assault as soon as I heard RPGS and MORTARS were used.  Then I heard the safe house was hit too.  (By the way, I think that is where the Seals died, not the consulate with the ambassador.)

Now that I have heard Romney use Glen Doherty's name, expect this to really hit the fan, and become the story it should.  If this had been Bush, Reagan, or Clinton, I would feel the same way.  Someone really screwed the pooch, and four (4) people are dead.

By the way, why are there no stories on the wounded?  There were several people wounded on 9/11-9/12 in Benghazi.  Where are their stories?  Someone is hiding them.

Lara Logan is suspect as a journalist because she has actually seen the beast up close and all too personal so she obviously can't be "objective".

After much hope, I have concluded that Issa fits Will Shakespeare's "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing" description.  Of course, having Boner as "leader" doesn't help, because actual substantive legislative action  might rock the boat (and delay the start of the open bar).

75 #73  Yes,  I was discussing it yesterday.  Marshall is so obnoxious I can only think Ailes thinks she makes the left look bad,  so that is why he hired her.

I had better NEVER hear her using that "war on women" analogy.  What a horrible person she is!

80 #65  At one point,  someone in the FBI said that the others from the embassy had been evacuated to several hospitals and embassies in Europe, making the investigation more difficult.

At the time,  I thought this was a lame DOJ excuse for foot-dragging.  Now I am wondering if career State people and career FBI are HIDING the others so they cannot be eliminated.

This is what happens when a SCOAMF, evil to the core,  is in charge of the executive.  You begin to see plots and threats everywhere.

To me, Heinlein was a bit erratic, because some of his stuff always felt like he was trying to make the rent, but he did a  lot of classics.  The best political one I can remember off the top of my head is "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress".

He also wrote the line that "Civil servant is semantically equivalent to Civil Master!"

I think Ailes was scared he and the entire network would have been smeared as racists by the rest of the media in 2009.  Not that they didn't try it anyway.  But I think he was really afraid of the boycotts and smears, and told every one to lighten up.

Or it could have been Rupert himself?  He has a lot of trouble with the cell phone hacking shit in England.  He was probably afraid for his licenses here in the US.  After all, this administration is run by Chicago thugs, and license trouble or union trouble for their enemies is the Chicago way.

84 75 Have any recommendations for Robert Heinlein and Ayn Rand, George Orwell (besides the obvious for the latter two)? Check out Rand's first novel, We the Living", published in the 1930s. It's a fictitious story of life in the Soviet Union, but she later said, "it is as close as I will come to writing an autobiography". It was turned down by about a dozen publishers. One told her, "You don't understand Communism."

Goldenfield says no one has claimed responsibility for the prank.

Why would CNN [or CNNi] refuse to air the Nick Robertson report with Muhammed Al Zawahiri (brother of Ayman Al Zawahiri) that clearly shows the Egyptian uprising was 100% in response to his call for protests for release of the Blind sheik on 9-11.? Why would the “most trusted name in news“, hide the report showing the truth, and instead allow the false narrative to be sold, by them, to the American electorate?

CNN never aired the Nick Robertson report in Egypt because it completely contradicted President Obama and Hillary ClintonÂ’s assertions. In short, the Robertson report, if aired, would have proved Obama and Clinton were lying.

The Nick Robertson CNN report was filmed on 9/9 and, by coincidence, it would have aired at the exact moment Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama began attributing the Egyptian embassy protest to a “U-Tube Video”.

Cookie Monster makes sense at Agriculture, Oscar the Grouch at Defense, Snuffleupagus at Labor, and Miss Piggy at State (even if she never was on "Sesame Street").

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!

199 On the San Antonio Schools ID Microchip thing- I actually looked into that previously, and I was dubious about them. However, that particular story's complaints are trivial. Basically they were issued new IDs with RFID tags to track kids in school- from the time they walk in the building until they leave. Not unlike many offices do for their employees. Now, I have a problem with that, in that I think it's stupid that kids have to walk around school like they're in some high-tech, industrial-sabotage-prone industry, also because I don't believe that the RFID will remain limited to the school campus. However, the particular complaint brought up in that article is "Oh, no, the Administrators are doing what they said they would do! I didn't get to vote for Home Coming because I didn't have the free ID they issued me! Horror, they want me to have the correct ID when I enter common areas (which tend to have exits)!" Cry me a freaking river. The time to have fought this was before it was implemented, I doubt your oh-so-doting parents did so. The next time to fight it will be when they overstep their bounds (note the "when"). Unfortunately our system is, by design, reactive to such things.

215 The Bombings will be timed to coincide with one of two things:

1) if the hearings start going bad and catch traction in the not so free press and the questions start mounting

or

2) if Romney hands Obama his ass at the debate on foreign Policy and he needs to try to stop the continued momentum.

There are a couple of other scenarios.

If team Obowmao comes out bruised heavily from the town hall bs debate and thinks they are going to have their ass handed to them at the foreign policy debate,

A) the bombs will preemptively drop the day of the debate to bolster The Stuttering Clusterfucks what a pussy rating before he gets on stage, or

B) to give cover for cancelling the debate.

In the end this shit stain of an administration will stop at nothing to gain a political advantage.

But I dont see how they benefit by bombing at this point.

Don't forget that Rupert's kids have already stated that seconds after he dies FNC will fire Ailes and go hard-left. They whine that FNC as it is is interfering with their ability to get invited to all the hot parties in Manhattan and DC.

They may well do that but if we've learned anything the last four years it's that the broadcast and print media don't control the narrative anymore.

228 And when I say "had to reach down and grab the mat" I should have turned the car off at the ingition.  Oops.  I was not even 25 at the time, so driving while young adult I did the same stupid crap.  At least I took it out of gear so as not to kill anyone else unless they were hit by flying pistons or connecting rods.

230 Wildly OT, but did anyone see Walt Goggins (Shane from 'The Shield') on 'Sons of Anarchy' last night? He played a tranny hooker with big boobs and it was the funniest thing that I've seen in the last two months. Hopefully it will be a recurring role.

231 Thanks for all the b-day wishes, and Happy Birthday to JackStraw too!  w00t!

Now that I'm 40, I am officially eligible for the title of "Dirty Old Man".  I can lear at young women, ramble incoherently without anyone paying attention to me, ask my doctor about ED medication without embarrassment, and get comfortable with the idea of a prostate exam.  In other words, just another day in EC Land.

232 Okay, going to go do some work. I need to write myself a contract for working with potential candidates. With their responsibilities and mine. So I don't get fucked if the candidate goes sideways on me.

233 You all know you can buy military grade encryption right now?  It's called AES.

And yes, the military uses it.

He's got a sad story.

His wife committed suicide during filming of The Shield in the middle of its run.  She suffered from depression.

236 So, I just read an email from a guy named John Mauldin.

The 7.8% UE number is real.  The BLS is not the WH.

However, over 500k new jobs last month were PART-TIME.

Yes.  Companies are hiring.  The jobs are less than 30 hours per week
so that the Insurance requirements of ObamaCare do not apply.

I don't know why Romney didn't put up some resistance to the moderators. At least try to get us Megyn Kelly for one of the debates.

241 "I saw Elmo heading south in a white Bronco"? (ha ha!) That came off very very weird. I think he's losing it.

I also think that borders on RACIST.  Calling out OJ in front of people?

242 Romney should call for the JEF's immediate resignation over his mishandling of the Benghazi affair, as well as Hillary and Ms Rice, during the foreign policy segment of the next debate. It just got personal. This shit just got real to Mitt.

I know - dead thread.

This is by Zimmerman, the guy that pretty much delivered good encryption to the common man, back in the early days of the net (google PGP).  IIRC, he fought the government over it as well, over some of the same ground (criminals, terrorists, etc.) that this is seeing.
