Happy Friday.

Most of the politics news out there this morning is debate related. But since we all know how that went, I'll just stick with a few items.

The DNC fired the OFA director who James O'Keefe caught coaching a voter to vote in two states.

And Google is caught up in the election again as image search results are turning out odd results for Team Romney. (I won't use the words because I don't want to add to the problem.) Shades of "Google bombing" here.

1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Friday, October 12, 2012.  On this day in 1960 Soviet premier Nikita Krushchev created a disturbance at the U.N. General Assembly by pounding his desk with his shoe.  Only a few decades later the JEF created a similar disturbance by flipping a bird while giving an address.  Which one was more obscene?

WeÂ’ll start this morning with the debate since it is sucking all the O2 out the news today.

Posted by: Vic at October 12, 2012 02:52 AM (YdQQY)

2 FoxÂ’s take on the debate.  They (this one) called out none of BidenÂ’s lies but managed to say Biden called Ryan a liar on something.  One must remember the night shift and weekend shift at Fox on-line is more liberal than NBC. (proved later)

Posted by: Vic at October 12, 2012 02:53 AM (YdQQY)

3 In a separate story they do point out the conflict between Biden and the State Department over whether of not the WH was told about request for more security in Libya.  Of course, he lied.  He did the same thing he did in the debate with Palin.  He made himself look better to the average uninformed stupid by lying his ass off.

Posted by: Vic at October 12, 2012 02:53 AM (YdQQY)

4 However, a different Fox writer lambastes the liberal tilt of the moderator and the unchallenged lies by Biden. Also allowing Biden to continually interrupt and go over time.  Of course we expected this.  Republicans are going to have to learn that they cannot go to the MFM for debates.

5 NBC does call out the lie on Libya and actually calls Biden and Obama liars.  IÂ’ll be damned I suspect if I go outside I will see pigs flying across the moon.  This is the one thing that is consistent among the news media this morning.  They are all killing the Admin on Libya and the ones who mention it out of the debate called Biden a liar.

6 Liberals are whining about inactive voters being purged from the rolls.  This practice has been around since I was a kid and it is designed to purge people who are likely dead or moved away. These SOBs will whine about anything that removed their likely voters.

8 Is Byron York losing it.  Appears to be saying Romney needs to be cautious in attacking Obama on handling of Libya.   He is full of shit.  One thing ALL the news media agreed on in this debate was that Biden lied and they have totally screwed up the Libya issue.  Romney needs to hammer this, as well as the shitty economy.

9 USDA is requiring no proof and very little of any evidence that you actually were a farmer when applying for the Pigford-II settlement money.  Basically this is a $50,000 payout for being black, a woman, or a Hispanic now. This is obscene.  Perhaps I should get my wife to apply.  I need a new truck.

10 Kindle Daily Deal:

The Spy Lover

Thrust into the savagery of the Civil War, a Chinese immigrant serving in the Union Army, a nurse doubling as a spy for the North, and a one-armed Confederate cavalryman find their lives inextricably entwined. It's a novel of extraordinary scope and a defining work on the Chinese immigrant experience.

And thatÂ’s it for this morning.

Just trawling around online, the reaction to the debate seems to be basically a hard fought draw......"both sides went toe to toe, clashed over issues, more fired up than the Presidentail debate, highlighted the divisions between the parties, no clear winner unlike last week", etc, etc.

So.....with no critical knockout punch scored by either side, Libya and Biden's over-the-top performance seem to be the two big takeouts from the debate. That's pretty good news really for RR.

That's what I was thinking after scanning around for a bit, too. The MSM seems to actually be reporting on Libya (and the admin's BS about it) now, and Biden was obnoxious...especially, seems like, to a number of female blogger/observers who generally don't care much for Republicans...something along the lines of "Biden sounded/acted like everything that makes women hate to talk to men sometimes" or thereabouts. I think that line is from Althouse on her blog. So, hopefully the move of female votes to RR will continue...I don't think Crazy Uncle Joe did anything to fix that.

34 I thought Biden appeared juvenile with his animated facial expressions. Ryan could have held his head straight during delivery and it would have helped his appearence. This is the VP debate, and i agreed with the Lunz focus group that my needle did not move one way or tha other based on it. I was shocked the moderator came out swinging with Libya right from the get-go. Biden got pummeled by the truth and lied thru his teeth about request for additional security.

49 My take is Ryan was ernest, factual and serious. At times he was facing two opponents and handled himself as best he could.

Joe was Meandering, Deceitful and Disrespectful, he received help and lifelines from the 'moderator' throughout the evening.

The one thing Joe had on his side was energy, which his adherents have lapped up.

It doesn't matter that his answers were flat out lies or that he meandered, he did what he had to do, which was be better than Obama.

I think  Romney understands now that the deck is stacked against him going into the next debate.

He will plan accordingly.

Because Obama is going to come out swinging and with a friendly moderator he could potentially do some damage.

51 Good morning everyone.  Yesterday I posted that Joe Biden would be overly aggressive, that Paul Ryan would be respectful, calm, factual, and reasonable.  I also posted that the job of Paul Ryan would be to introduce himself to that part of the American audience who is not acquainted with him, and show them that he is not scary or evil, but rather is serious, smart, sane, a man of character and conviction, and someone worthy of our trust.   I believe I got that just about right, if I do say so myself.

The take-away from this debate seems to be that this was an ugly altercation between a bar-bully and the nice kid, and the nice kid stood his ground.

I cannot imagine any independent undecided voter, particularly women,  watching that debate would be more inclined to vote for Obama-Biden after last night's performance by Smirking Joe.

My takeaway from what I saw:

Ryan's biggest flaw was that he came off a bit stiff and wonkish at times,  maybe a bit too polite and not aggressive enough when challenged.

Biden's biggest flaw was that he came off like an unhinged hot head  and condescending jerk.

I think I know which "flaw"  most people would be more comfortable with in their potential President.

Biden was a disaster. They just don't realize it yet because he was shouty and the left thinks that's debating.

==============================================================

On the Kennedy line; he was obviously going for a reprisal of the Bentson line from 1988- as he was no doubt coached to do.

That not withstanding, the whole debate was just chock full of fodder (both audio and cisual) for RR ads.

Biden really is the "Gift that Keeps on Giving".

78 a number of female blogger/observers who generally don't care much for Republicans...something along the lines of "Biden sounded/acted like everything that makes women hate to talk to men sometimes"

That kind of fits in with my tin-foil hat theory that Biden was 'doping' with testosterone. Perhaps as a knee-jerk reaction to Obama's poor first debate. I've taken the stuff before and it makes me verbally very aggressive. Whereas weight lifting (Ryan) 'ups' the testosterone level naturally without that side effect.

80 I hope Mitt's team fully realizes what they are up against in the next two debates.  Many times during last night's debate, Ryan was debating that vicious scrunt as well as biden.  It was a truly remarkable display of bias.  She actually badgered Ryan several times while he was trying to answer her question.  Damn these people to hell where they belong!  Ryan did very well.  He came across as the ONLY adult in the room.  I hate these lying SOBs with a passion.  Our forefathers are way past rolling over in their graves.  The past 4 years have shown us how great civilizations die.  If there's any hope for this country, these people must be  destroyed.

Better him than me. I would've been sorely tempted to ask her if she was a moderator or an interrogator and then mentioned that I realize that the President was a guest at her wedding and that her former husband is the chairman of the FCC but could she at least make an attempt to be objective?

91 Biden kept hammering the 47%, and I was thinking, if you are trying to sway undecideds, do they even know what you mean?  And yet he kept at it, like it was tattooed on his eyeballs.

The one line that got a reaction from the crowd was Ryan's quip about Biden knowing something about misspeaking, and you could tell Biden was ticked off by it.  He repeatedly said essentially that he always tells the truth, and always means everything that comes out of his mouth.

There's an ad right there, RNC.  Use it?

Biden is receiving some praise and good press, but even that is more  about simply "being aggressive" and "putting his party's views" rather than actually winning or  even scoring a decisive punch against Ryan.

105 I have to think it's strategy, and nothing more than that, because Ryan decidedly DID NOT whip out misstatements from either Biden or Obumbles.  As they were talking about who would get soaked with a tax increase, Ryan could have easily worked in the "at some point you've made enough," and "you didn't build that" comments.

I think the strategy is, if it's older than a few days, it's too old to use.  Which would make Biden's repeated "47%!!!" harping a mistake, even though the all-knowing pundits would consider it a zinger every time it got used.

As gratifying as Ryan telling off Joe Bozon would have been, that would play right into their hands.  Biden's goal for the evening was to get Ryan to overreact, so that he could then say he was a scary yoot and out of control.  Ryan didn't play that game, and so won the debate.

Wit the worthless porkulus they jacked up spending to 4T a year with a 1.1T deficit.  We have had that same amount of spending and deficit every year because the Senate will not pass a spending bill and the House in order to keep from doing a shutdown passes CRs which continue the same level of spending as the first year they were in when Dems controlled both houses.

So in effect the Dems still control both houses with respect to the spending.

Exactly right.  The aim was to go with the meme that Ryan "get's testy."  The goal was to provoke him into frustration and get him to say something they could use as a hammering soundbite.  They failed.  He did not rise to the bait.
