— Gabriel Malor Happy Thursday.
After getting soundly mocked, CNN pulled that post on the hormone/voting study. "Some elements of the story did not meet the editorial standards of CNN."
Cable provider Armstrong Utilities, which operates in 6 states including Ohio and Pennsylvania, is offering "2016: Obama’s America" as a “Free Movie Special” to all its subscribers on-demand at no charge.
There's lots of speculation on Twitter about how bad it would be for Obama if Hurricane Sandy hit New Hampshire or Philly right around Election Day. There's no early voting in Pennsylvania, so if the storm makes voting in Philly difficult on Election Day . . . well, I expect there'll be talk of letting voting go on the next day. An explainer on why Sandy's so hard to predict right now.

A Life in Stitches
In these 20 heartfelt essays, Rachael Herron--celebrated romance novelist by day, 911 dispatcher by night--explores how there's always a way to knit your life back together when it unravels. Honest, funny, and full of warmth, Herron's tales were inspired by something she knit or something knit for her.
And thatÂ’s it for this morning.

I'm not so sure that's a bad idea. Not because I'm blind but because I live in the boondocks and it has occurred to me on a couple occasions that those quiet cars would be perfect for thieves.
There's nothing that spooks me as much as a car that suddenly silently appears out of no where. I like to hear them coming.

Seventeen out of twenty computer models on the Drudge link show it hitting the NorthEast USA. It's a combination of the hurricane and another low pressure area arriving at the same time that is going to tug it east. I doubt that it will have much wind speed but it's gonna be one hell of a rainmaker over a huge area.
Not good for 0bama if it's on un-Election Day.

I salute you for that. I would vote for both Akin and Mourdock if I lived in their states. With that said, it is way past time for GOP candidates to stop answering the infanticide by tortuous dismemberment questions. Every damn one of them should develop a rote, formal, and very boring answer, such as:
"Abortion is a settled issue. I would rather talk to you about why women have not been able to get a job in this economy. Today as never before women struggle to keep a roof over their heads as never before."

Absolutely agree, Sherry. I am stunned that they ALL didn't have something prepared after Akin's problem. I happen to have worked with Mourdock back in the70's, and he didn't seem to me to be a stupid person backthen.
To me, just because you are asked a question in adebate doesn't mean you have to ANSWER it. If a questioner in a debate asked "Do you pick your nose while driving your car?" would they feel like that had to give an answer?
No? Then why not treat questions like this with the same contempt? It is a personal opinion anyway which would have no effect on the current abortion situation, since there will not be an amendment to prohibit it and until a state challenges Roe vs Wade successfully, it will stand.

I post this periodically: http://tinyurl.com/75q9can
It's a link to a database of teachers in NJ and what they make.
There are 137,519 records. The average salary is $75,000.00
or roughly $10,000,000,000 spent on salaries alone.
To give you an example of the waste let's take one school that I am familiar with.
Kearny NJ - Kearny HS - Student Population: 1,775
Principal: $151,482
Asst. Principal 1: $137,081
Asst. Principal 2: $137,074
Asst. Principal 3: $136,716
That is not a misprint, there are in fact 3 Asst. Principals for a student body of less than 2000 students.
That's half a million dollars tied up in just 4 people at one school
They have 25 English teachers their average salary is 75,000.
The highest paid English teachers make in excess of 100,000 dollars a year.
Multiply this over the thousands of schools across the state and you looking at bucket loads of money.
And this is just the people who are on the books, the number of retired teachers. The amount owed to "retired" teachers is gargantuan.

How many Commanders-in-Chief can you get in one family tree? When itÂ’s former Massachusetts governor Mitt RomneyÂ’s family tree, the answer is six.
According to Ancestry.com, the worldÂ’s largest online family history resource, RomneyÂ’s family tree connects him to Franklin D. Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, Franklin Pierce, Herbert Hoover, and both George H.W. and George W. Bush.
Romney is connected to Presidents George W. Bush (10th cousins, twice removed), George H. W. Bush (10th cousins, once removed) and Franklin D. Roosevelt (8th cousins, twice removed) through Ann Marbury Hutchinson, a key figure in the development of religious freedom in America and early settler of Rhode Island and New York.
Romney is related to Presidents Calvin Coolidge (10th cousins), Herbert Hoover (10thcousins) and Franklin Pierce (6th cousins, 4 times removed) through Thomas Richardson, a landowner in the late 1500s in Hertfordshire, England.

I think the thermodynamics don't really work. A Hurricane needs warm water to give it energy - typically there isn't the kind of warm water off the mid-Atlantic Coast as there is in the Caribbean to feed the storm. So by the time the storm reaches the mid-Atlantic, it is losing energy precipitously.

Morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. My desk is piled higher than Sandy Fluke’s spirochete count, so only time for three quick stories today. I think I may have told the first already, so if I did, skip it:
At the wrap party for the movie musical Bye, Bye Birdie, everyone, starting with director George Sidney, got up and offered toasts to Ann-Margret. She was “the most talented,” said Sidney. “The nicest,” offered another. “The most beautiful.” “The most adorable.” One and on it went, the men in the cast and production crew trying to outdo each other on their praise for the lovely, bunk-worthy star.
The last person to offer a toast was Maureen Stapleton, who played the mother of star Dick Van Dyke. She’d had quite a few drinks by this time, and more than her fill of praise for AM. “Well,” she slurred, “I guess I’m the only one on this picture who didn’t want to fuck Ann-Margret.”
Earlier this week, I talked a bit about sex in Hollywood, mentioning in passing the Twentieth Century-Fox producer Darryl Zanuck, who kept a stable of starlets available for a daily 4.00pm fuck. Not that it stopped him from pursuing other women; when he managed to push comedienne Judy Holliday down on a couch, she attempted to stop him by pointing to a photo of Zanuck’s wife and children. “How can you do this?” she wailed. “There’s your family!” “Keep my family out of this,” Zanuck snarled as he stuck his hand up Holliday’s dress.
But that’s not the story I wanted to tell. In 1953, Zanuck signed a bisexual European actress of little talent named Bayla Weiger. Besotted with her, Zanuck changed her name to Bella Darvi and did his best to turn her into a major star. She didn’t have much of a career, and studio insiders were baffled as to why she had such a hold over the powerful mogul. “Simple,” explained writer / director Nunnally Johnson. “Bella took him to bed and until then he thought it was something you did on top of a desk.”
And, finally, a quick vignette from the book I mentioned yesterday, Tony RandallÂ’s Which Reminds Me: One time, Randall and Groucho Marx were sitting backstage at the Booth Theater for a Tony Awards broadcast. In one dressing room were all the men from Broadway shows and in another, directly across the way, were all the women from the Broadway musicals. The womensÂ’ door was open and you could see some of the chorus girls running around stark naked.
Pointing out one especially delicious chorine, Groucho leaned over to Randall and said, “You don’t get this in the pants business.”
Gotta run. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

You're right. At this point, I'm not sure ANY of what is happening in this campaign is about garnering votes. For the Presidential candidate or anyone else. I've almost reached the conclusion that there are campaign managers and staffers who are in full "pad my own resume" mode.
In other words, if 2 or 4 years from now, you can advertise yourself as the guy who managed to raise $10 million* over the last two weeks of the disastrous Obama campaign, even though your candidate was going down like Andi Sullivan during fleet week, that's quite an accomplishment.
* I have no idea if that number is even close to accurate, it's just there for illustration purposes.

Funding of urban mass transit is not an "earmark" as earmarks are traditionally allocated. It is included in legislation decades ago when the Democrats perpetually ruled congress. 20% of all gasoline taxes are automatically diverted to urban mass transit and they add to it in every damn highway bill.
And the spineless Republicans go with it.

For Romney and the GOP to produce a budget.

An expert from Black Box Voting Inc., Bev Harris is the author of Black Box Voting: Ballot Tampering in the 21st Century.
I've been against computer ballot voting all along. Too easy to "fix" in the most egregious ways. No paper trail. The paper ballot with ink fill in the blank (ex: SAT exam format) tabulated by computers is the ideal, leaving a paper trail, and not identifying/connecting the log in of the voter/ballot. Computer voting machines do provide an opportunity to abuse, closer to terminating the private ballot.

There's lots of speculation on Twitter about how bad it would be for Obama if Hurricane Sandy hit New Hampshire or Philly right around Election Day.
I was actually talking about this with my father just last night. I don't think Sandy will hold off another week and a half before making an impact here in the northeast, but if the impact is severe enough it could have lingering consequences in terms of the election. Then again, as I mentioned to my dad, I would crawl across broken glass, downed power lines and flooded sewers to vote the SCOAMT out of office. I can't imagine anyone going through all that to vote him back IN.

My model accounts for the current preferences of the Independents in each poll. The 2008 model just says "What is actual lead if the electorate matches the 2008 turnout, including how the Independents will vote this time".
Different polls show different results because they are seeing different levels of Ind support. This way I am able to average the Ind preference across multiple polls.
However, if the electorate really matched 2008, then Obama would be slightly ahead, even with Ind's supporting Romney. I have accounted for that.

WASHINGTON (AP) — What gender gap?
Less than two weeks out from Election Day, Republican Mitt Romney has erased President Barack Obama's 16-point advantage among women, a new Associated Press-GfK poll shows. And the president, in turn, has largely eliminated Romney's edge among men.
As the election nears, Romney has been playing down social issues and trying to project a more moderate stance on matters such as abortion in an effort to court female voters. The AP-GfK poll, taken Friday through Tuesday, shows Romney pulling even with Obama among women at 47-47 after lagging by 16 points a month earlier.
A month ago, women favored Obama over Romney on the economy 56 percent to 40 percent. Now, the split has shifted to 49 percent for Romney and 45 percent for Obama.
So the next 2 weeks are all going to be about "women's issues" because Barry is sinking in the polls

Happy to see the women gap close for Mitt. As a woman, my "women's issues" didn't revolve around the vajayjay. It revolved around that this president has done to my kid's future. I think the donks underestimated the importance that women place on the welfare of their children. Just my two cents.

Even if it's R 52 - O 45, is that enough to overcome cheating, this business with the voting machines is making me nervous. Imagine every other Romney vote actually becoming a Barky vote.

It is very fishy when the election official in NC said it happens every year and that they just need to re-calibrate the machine. Crazy stuff. Re-calibrate? This raises major questions and, as I understand, isn't each machine used is supposed to be tested prior to the election?

Local news broadcast interviewed the street venders and a bar owner setting up shop beside the 2-lane no shoulder, no merging lane 85 mph highway.
Just what we need, drunks fresh off the barstool on the 85 mph highway.
THAT makes and easy revenue target for the local cops to ticket before the cars leave the premises.

I think it is extreme disgust and fatigue with the obamas. If I had taken an oath to take a bullet for the POTUS, whomever that might be, and by extension, FLOTUS, any minor children, and the VPOTUS and his spouse AND then found out that meant taking a bullet for obama, mooch, biden, and jill, I might find myself partying like the last days of Pompeii.

They still talk about the 1938 hurricane here in NH. I was obviously born many years later, but the eastern half of my hometown was literally destroyed by that hurricane. There were all kinds of urban legends about an inbred motorcycle gang that haunted the area in later years. I don't know how that would be possible, since "destroyed by a hurricane" generally means "no roads for motorcycles and no buildings in which to be screwing your sisters," but that's why urban legends are fun.

JAY LENO: When you help your daughters with their homework, is there a subject you struggle with?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, the math stuff I was fine with up until 7th grade. But Malia is now a freshman in High School and I'm pretty lost. It's tough. Fortunately, they are great students on their own. And if something doesn't work I'll call over to the Department of Energy to see if they have a physicist to come over!
I don't know about you folks, but I'm comforted to know that the Preezy of the United Steezy, the genius who is smarter than anyone EVER, the brilliant mind who's better at absolutely everything than anyone else, can't do high school level math. I'm sure he'll be able to use his seventh grade knowledge of basic weights and measures to solve our economic turmoil!
I'm also impressed to hear that Jay Leno thinks Obama actually helps his daughters with their homework.

When my son was just getting 'into' computers and started writing some programs in HS I took some old Cobol code I had for a pretty little calculator, tinkered with the code for all of 10 seconds, then asked him to try it out.
1 + 1 equaled 3
2 + 2 equaled 5
He laughed, and I got indignant -- 'Whattdomean? It's a computer, it can't be wrong.' Now he writes software for ~100,000 plus users.
