well, bless their hearts... (via drudge):

Lake County School Board officials are considering attaching cameras to school cafeteria trash cans to study what students are tossing after officials found that most of the vegetables on the school menu end up in the trash can.

New federal laws require students to take a healthy produce at lunchtime, but last year in Lake County, students tossed $75,000 worth of produce in the garbage.

"It's a big issue, and it's very hard to get our hands around it," said School Board member Todd Howard, who suggested "trash-cams." "They have to take (the vegetable), and then it ends up in the trash can, and that's a waste of taxpayer money.  It's also not giving students the nutrition that they need."

8 Shocking abuses against civilians by south Sudan "security forces"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19810431

These are the same vile thugs Obama is backing and supporting the use of child slave labor soldiers for.

http://t.co/pFtEjqJD

This crew in the south Sudan seems to have had a lot of mission creep since the earlier Darfur days when John Garang and his rebels had some actual moral authority.  Once Grarang very conveniently died in a "helicopter crash" everything went to shit.

9 Morning Joe, surprising no one, made the Obama is a racist clip about his fake accent and cut out all parts about him slamming white (j00) 9/11 victims. But more importantly, Paul Ryan said last year that 30 percent of the country wants a welfare state, which is apparently devastating, or something

30 Wasted vegetables ARE pretty expensive, especially if your school district "partners" with local organic hobby farmers in a "Farm to Fork" operation, where kids get to go to assemblies and on field trips to meet the people "who grow their food", and learn the healthful benefits of locally-sourced kale.  Yum.  Not.

Fortunately for my teenage son, they are not only legal in our district, but only cost .85.  He can either spend $3.00+ on the balanced meal with whole grain and locally sourced fruits and vegs, or buy a la carte and get two sandwiches, milk and a piece of fruit.

When I was in elementary school, way back in the dark ages, they would have pizza once a month for lunch.  It was horrible pizza but it was our favorite anyway.  Accompanying the pizza was always an ice cream scoop of what I can only now assume was spinach.

At the end of lunch, the entire trash can would be full of virgin green spheres.  I don't need a camera to figure out why.

57 On this day in History: With the admission of Iraq into the League of Nations, Britain terminates its mandate over the Arab nation, making Iraq independent after 17 years of British rule and centuries of Ottoman rule. Britain seized Iraq from Ottoman Turkey during World War I and was granted a mandate by the League of Nations to govern the nation in 1920. A Hashemite monarchy was organized under British protection in 1921, and on October 3, 1932, the kingdom of Iraq was granted independence. The Iraqi government maintained close economic and military ties with Britain, leading to several anti-British revolts. A pro-Axis revolt in 1941 led to a British military intervention, and the Iraqi government agreed to support the Allied war effort. In 1958, the monarchy was overthrown, and for the next two decades Iraq was ruled by a series of military and civilian governments. In 1979, General Saddam Hussein became Iraqi dictator; he held onto power with an iron fist, until disappearing in the face of an American-led coaliation's invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Anyone feel like answering this query from a friend of mine?

Need research help when you have spare time. Up against a liberal in a forum. He's provided a graph showing falling wages in the 1980s. Would like a good explanation and counter argument.Let me know if you got anything.   I suspect the answer might have to do with demographics. I need a good answer for this jack ass liberal. Or maybe I am just wrong. But I need to explain how despite a growing GDP in the 1980s real wages fell. Maybe you can pose the question in one of your forums where conservatives hang. I need links that can support too.

60 My elementary school had really good food on big light green trays. We could go back for seconds if we ate our veggies and they didn't charge us. The lunch lady's husband was a janitor and scraped the trays before handing them in the little window. If you hadn't eaten your veggies he would look at you a certain way and you would go back and eat them. It wasn't all sweet harmony though. They lived across the street from the school. They were robbed and tied to chairs. The husband died of a heart attack and I always felt so sorry for the lunch lady.

70 Oh yeah, I remember the food garbage can from elementary school.

Parents should furnish and prepare their kinds own damn breakfast and lunch.

IIRC, the original school lunch program was designed when the central planners learned that too many recruits for one of the wars were kinda stumpy from undernourishment as children.  (World War I?)  Back when half the population was rural and the other half was spending on average around 30% of family income on food.  Refrigeration was primitive, ready-to-eat was pretty much canned beans and soups, the feds weren't paying corn producers...there were no food stamps.

Go look at Good Housekeeping from the 20s and 30s, the ads for foods and some of their recipe articles tout their "calories per penny" to keep your children safe from "underweight."

Now families spend less than 10% on their income on food (can't remember if that includes dining out, which I personally file under "entertainment" but I mostly live alone),  if you're too poor to run a fridge there's a host of ready-to-eat things that don't require it,  subsidies make processed foods wicked-cheap.  The program isn't needed anymore.

One of the typical arguments used on the left is "well, everybody has jobs, but they're not good jobs."  I suspect this graph comes from that line of thought.

I don't do economics, but this seems pretty basic to me.  Rising employment rates mean more entry level jobs, which means lower average wage rates.

It's the same lie that gets told about American education.  We score poorly on international measurements.  Why?  Because we have higher rates of attendance, which means the nitwits stay in school longer, pulling down test score averages.

In other words, it's a typical misrepresentation of stats.

Ask him for a graph of median incomes, not just mean/average.

Today news is saying video shows Obama making racially divisive comments (okay he's a Democrat so even uncontested video is "purported") and now Dems and press BIRM are on defense. That's good.

Hey, everyone - slept through my alarm (Mrs P had to wake me), so am behind the 8 ball today.  Only time for a quick zinger:

Groucho Marx was once asked how the brothers decided which gags to use in a movie.  Groucho replied that they had two ways of doing it; firstly, as they usually tried out their movies as stage shows before filming, whatever the audience laughed at the most stayed.

After that, he said, they'd run the remaining jokes by Zeppo, the team's straight man, to get his reaction.

If Zeppo laughed at a joke. . .they cut it.

Sorry to be brief.  I'll make it up to you tomorrow.  Hope you all have a wonderful day.

ESPN of all networks ran a clip from the Colin Cowherd (sp) show where he played a parody of a Presidential polling question. EoJ (and so many others who were deriding the release of this vid last night): The tape was not meant to affect you in any way.

Instead, it was aimed at the average low-info voter who, after 2008 and this year's campaign so far, probably is not aware that Choom Boy is a racist, pandering shitweasel.

Wake the fuck up! Presumably, Teh Mutt has your vote, but pulling a few former worshipers away from the Anointed One's legions is more valuable to the campaign than sating your desire for only the finest in red meat.

We need a flood of this shit getting out, whether from 2007, 2001 or last week, even if it doesn't meet your lofty standards.

I am so friggin' tired of the Poppin' Fresh Brigade running the campaign. If they prevail, we lose. Get used to that, and if the thought of another four years of the Traitor-in-Chief really bothers you, accept that there are times when shit must be flung in hopes some sticks.

My daughter gets to "order" her breakfast from dad. I ask her what she wants for breakfast...most of the time it's "i don't know" so i throw out some ideas. This morning she had nachos. The perfect breakfast: grain, vegetables, protein and fats from the cheese and sour cream along with grape juice. When you teach kids healthy they eat it. She does't like candy. We have never offered her soda when growing up so she has not aquired a taste for it. She prefers fruit juice or water (water, the stuff you drink when one is thirsty). Occasionally we go out and since i married a pinoy it's the Chinese buffet. Daughter loads up on chicken and broccoli. She likes vegetables because that is what we prepare fresh at home.

It's a mystery to me that the libs have a wish come true in EBT cards, then allow people to buy garbage with them, then complain that the progeny of the wellfare class have poor eating habits. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

When i was growing up i got minute-rice with milk, butter and sugar for breakfast. I still get a craving for sweet rice to this very day. Bon apetit!

128 We have now reached the logistics exercise part of the election.  Romney should do fine tonight.  He isn't going to "knock out" Obama, nor should we expect him to.  He will be solid and aggressive just like in the primary debates.

Obama will be Obama.  The MSM will be the MSM.  They will be furiously spinning Obama's performance as an amazing combination of Lincoln, Douglas, Cicero, and Daniel Webster.  All while hoping we don't notice their sad clown eyes behind the frantic spinning.

The story above about declines in Dem voter registration is part of the logistics exercise.  Romney spent much time and money from 2008 until the present helping get Rs elected at the state level, especially in state Secretary of State offices.  Jon Husted in Ohio is a great example.

Elections have consequences and winners play a long game.  More R SecofSt means more dead Dems and felons cleared from the rolls and fewer opportunities for Dem fraud.  Romney's efforts behind the scenes in 2010 may gain him the WH this year.

It would not surprise me in the least to find out years from now that Romney and Palin had a tacit deal to let her take the rhetorical lead [and the MSM heat] from 2009-2011 so he could win the WH in 2012.

131 lincolntf, http://www.nber.org/papers/w11627 It wasn't just an '80s thing. This has been ongoing for a long while, and it will continue for the foreseeable future. Middle-wage jobs are disappearing thanks to automation. No more steno pools. No more in-house print shops and graphics departments. People generally have their own numbers and answer their own phones. Look at what's happening to newspapers. The losses of middle-wage jobs were somewhat masked in the peace dividend and 401k years starting in the '90s. The boomers hit their peak earnings years. That supercharged the markets, and just about everybody spread the wealth around with all kinds of make-work, bullshit jobs--primarily superfluous layers of middle management. That margin is gone, and the income inequality is catching up on the path to where it has long been headed.

This.  Requiring, say, the starting Varsity Offensive Line to hold to the same calorie count as, say, the chess club is really, really stupid.

And, as school districts are finding out (most of them knew it already, but they're addicted to that sweet, sweet government money) you can't force kids to eat healthy.  Mom and Dad might be able to say, "You'll eat your peas, or you'll go to bed hungry."  A teacher can't do that for a variety of reasons.

135 Here's my little rant about government, school lunch plays a part. Most of government is "stuff white people like." For example, white liberals can say that they are for school lunch programs because it feeds the hungry. But it also means that someone else is subsidizing their kids lunch, and they don't have to make it. Social security and Medicare are good for white people who won't take care of their parents, and who haven't bothered to reproduce so that someone will be there to take care of them.

The program isn't needed anymore." You are very right that you can keep yourself and your kids full very cheaply. I would add, though, that keeping yourself nourished with good food instead of processed crap is harder to do at a decent price. We've changed our family diet up over the past year or so and have cut out almost all pre-packaged and processed foods (except for bread for the kids and the occasional treat) and our grocery bill has gone through the roof. We're all much healthier for it but don't let anyone tell you shopping the edges of the grocery store is cheap! That's not to defend these idiotic school lunch programs. The muckety-mucks running the show are obviously morons and I dunno how they could have messed it up and wasted even more of our tax dollars but they apparently found a way. I live in Lake County (the school district the article posted early in the comments was talking about) and I'm appalled that they wasted $75K of our tax dollars on food tha was trashed.

No.  See, that I don't believe.

I think Ronald Reagan had it right when he said, "A recession is when your neighbor loses his job.  A Depression is when you lose yours."  I think people notice the gas and food prices.

What they may not realize (and this is something the Media has been pushing more subtly) is exactly how much of that can be laid solidly at the feet of Washington- specifically the Democrats.

Every so often I'll say, "Silly politicians, corn is for food!"  Partially because it's funny, and partially so people will (hopefully) realize that the ethanol subsidies are perhaps the single most harmful thing in our economy right now.  We already used corn in everything from food to paper-products to clothing, and then we're going to add the least efficient possible use to the list?  That's crazy.

The problem is the "one size fits all" mentality of bureaucracy.  There is never a consideration of second and third order effects.

They make these kids take a vegetable.

So the kid thinks, "OK, I'll take one, but I'm not eating it."

Then the drones wonder why they have a problem with food waste.  Their solution is to put cameras on the trash cans.

OK genius, what you going to do when you bust Junior throwing out a vegetable you made him take?  Force feed him?  Arrest him?  What's the charge?

Mr. Black does not follow politics at all.  If he hears some big story going around, he just asks me what it's all about.  He walked by Hannity's show last night where he was playing that clip and stopped dead in his tracks.  He looked at me wide eyed and said, "why the hell is he talking like that?"  He thought he sounded ridiculous.  When he listened further, he said, "what a racist!"  So....people on the periphery will see this for what it is.  How can you not?  I don't give Hannity (conservatism on training wheels) much credit, but his side by side was awesome.

156 We've changed our family diet up over the past year or so and have cut out almost all pre-packaged and processed foods (except for bread for the kids and the occasional treat) and our grocery bill has gone through the roof.

We haven't experienced the same problem, and we did the same thing.  Of course, our costs are hidden in labor- we'll buy heads of lettuce, for example, and chop them up ourselves.  We tend to buy in-season fruits and vegetables, not because it's hoity-toity, but because it's cheaper (if it's in season, that means both the local farmers and the big agra-concerns have to compete for my dollars), and so forth.

You can eat well cheaply, but you do have to make some sacrifices.

I expect that there will be 130 million voters this time, and we will be seeing long lines in both Democrat and Republican strongholds.  Both parties will turn out their base in huge numbers.

That doesn't happen when people are disengaged.

Ah.  Yep, that'll do it.

Find a local butcher.  If you've got a good freezer, and can afford the initial investment, you can get a good 3 months of meat from a local butcher for cheap.

Many of them even have purchasing plans so that if you don't have a good freezer, you can buy set amounts of food every month.  The discount isn't quite as good as buying all at once, but it's cheaper than buying a la carte every two weeks.

The key to winning this is getting a majority of the Independents and getting Republicans to vote.  In 2008 they dropped 5% from their 2004 percentage.

The MSM was in a panic trying to spin the debates as the (coming) reason that Obama is going down in the polls and Mitt is coming up. For weeks they've been trying to create the meme that the election was over and The One was winning by a landslide.

Now, the lying press can point to the release of this video and blame Obama's fall on racism. Actual voter preference hasn't changed in months. Mitt is going to win by a substantial margin. The only thing that has changed is that now the MSM has an excuse for how their juiced polls changed so much.

221 I'll go two better: No financial aid at all for higher education. And no subsidy of colleges for any reason. If they can't compete in the education marketplace then they have no reason to exist. College is stuff white people like. Having someone else pay for college (or make it easier to pay for college) is even more stuff white people like. And they can also feel egalitarian about it paying for minorities to go to school, too. Education is not really a marketplace. We as a society believe in education. I think the problem is that people figured out if they call something education they can get a nice sinecure out of it, paid for by someone else.

Imagining Romney/Obama in debate makes me nauseous. And like a dog to its vomit, we're all going to tune in for some of it.

"The Mitt Stabilizer"

CNN: [After bringing his dad to mind on stage] But there is more to the routine, she says. "And then he looks in the audience and he finds me. He has to find where I am. And– he just– he needs just that connection. And almost after every answer that he gives, he'll find me in the audience, to see, 'Was that good? Was that okay?'"

---

Ann's gone too far spilling Mitt's magic beans, pearls before the public swine. This is asking for bad luck. And to make Mitt out to be her puppy is pathetic, not to mention seeming weak, unpresidential. As if Mitt must have her approval before he does squat. It isn't as if it shouldn't be that way necessarily; but to announce that it is sheds all which should remain personal into the public combat field. That's one way to strip for a thrill. She had no business making "it" all about her, even if "it" is that way between the two of them. This is one vane woman, already broadcast live for viewers to witness after her "love" speech was followed by Christi's "respect" speech, and she shot daggers at him as he spoke, if looks could kill. She's exposed Mitt's weakness and vulnerability, his dependency on her to a fault, making him out to be a sissy mommy's boy, a big titty baby. Big help, that's how it's going to spin. You can bet that every MSM camera will be documenting Mitt's glances to Ann from now on. This possessiveness of hers is unhealthy in the public limelight. But then, she has precedence with Nancy Reagan. However, referencing a least popular element from the Reagan "legacy" isn't the smartest route for comparison when seeking more votes from the Independent (more of those than either R or D on voter registries). And if this is the Republican "proof" that there is no GOP "war against women" -- it won't buy any more voters than are in the poorly worded "legitimate rape" tank.

On public perception of a President through his First Lady, Ann could learn from Laura Bush. Laura and W might have the same sort of devoted relationship as Ann and Mitt. But Laura didn't go on national/global television saying that George needed her approval each time he spoke. Laura's' influence didn't go public with anything until the "dead or alive" remark; and even then it was W who took it back, admitting she'd had a word with him in private.

That married couples discuss matters is expected. That a wife presumes the seal of authority over her husband's words, however, is unbalanced, especially if he is the POTUS.  As if America needs another Moochelle, or Hillary.  Voters who go for that already have it. The political agenda of Hillary and Moochelle is already public record. Even Hillary's hidden treatise is exposed given the subject: ALINSKY. If it's the "two for one" formerly Clinton sales pitch gone GOP '12, then Ann has a hell of a lot explaining to do regarding HER political background views on specific constitutional law v. federal policy.  And if she's claiming that's not her intent so as to avoid explaining herself, she shouldn't be out there announcing that Mitt needs her approval.  "And almost after every answer that he gives, he'll find me in the audience, to see, 'Was that good? Was that okay?'" Why not simply stop at "he'll find me in the audience," to go no further than "to see" [my eyes, or my smile, or simply to see me].

On public perception of a President through his First Lady, Ann could learn from Laura Bush how to be absolutely supportive without stealing the show. And if it's Nancy Reagan that Ann would emulate, then there it is. We know Nancy, and Ann is no Nancy. Nancy never spilled Ronald's magic beans for her own aggrandizement.  But then, Romney is no Reagan. As if Reagan would have anything to do with the Patriot Act to "create jobs" via establishing the top heaviest of all unconstitutional bureaucracies, the federal DHS behemoth. As if Gov./Pres. Reagan would have ever instituted the unconstitutional "Mandate" that Mitt will never rescind.

Anything that requires labor transfer is by definition in a market. The problem is that the government's subsidies of education have distorted the market to such a degree that there is no relationship between cost and value.

This.   There's been such a push for so long for EVERYONE to get a "higher education" that the actual worth of that education has been diluted to a depressing level.  The fact of the matter is not everyone needs or wants a college degree.  It shouldn't be mandatory to have a two year     associates degree to answer phones and work a reception desk,    or push a mop,   or do data entry.    I'm    not saying those jobs don't need intellectual    ability -- even    mopping up Burger King requires a little awareness of where to start and where to end so you don't mop yourself into a corner -- but they don't need a degree.      They         ARE     good starting points     for new employees,    getting them       into the employment    world and starting     them on the ladder    to better, more gainful employment.

If a receptionist chooses to get an associates degree in business administration so     he or she can go for    an administrative position in his or her company, go for it!     That proves you've got some skin in the game and some ambition    (not to mention a decent sense of loyalty to the company in question).    But when you go into a position like that with a BA or BS,   what are the chances you're going to stay?   What are the chances you aren't looking on Monster.com or checking the want ads every night in search of something more suited to your    degree (and more likely to help you pay down your student loans)?   Not very good.   You may find you actually enjoy the job and end up staying with the business in one capacity or another, but       when you    first    start you're GOING to be discontent.    "Why am I working the register at     the GAP?" you'll ask yourself.  "I've got a bachelors degree in psychology.   There's got to be something better   out there    for me."

Nobody's happy in that situation.   So why do we keep     holding    up the same canard that every person should have a college education?       You know what,     how about we start with every person knowing how to READ    AND WRITE    before we go shoving them into the same college-shaped box, okay?    Because as it stands now, even THAT'S a stretch.

BURLINGTON, Iowa - Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan found a rare point of agreement today with his Democratic opponent, after Vice President Joe Biden said earlier that the middle class has been "buried" over the last four years.

Ryan, on the last stop of his bus tour of this battleground state, said he and presidential candidate Mitt Romney agree that middle class Americans "are being buried by the Obama administration's economic failures."

And your point can be used to destroy the idea of a minimum wage.

Teenagers are going jobless because they have no skills that are worth the legal minimum wage.

New workers are worthless until they learn some skills, and when they are priced out of the entry-level job market the only skill they will ultimately learn is how to apply for welfare.

This goes to the point I was making last night on the Tape thread.   The MFM is desperate for a story that will allow them to further ignore Benghazi, F and F, the economy, and every other clusterfuck visited upon this country and the world by the miserable failure in the Oval    Office.    You're going to see them bringing up this tape A LOT,    and the line of attack is going to be, "Look how racist the racist rightwingers are, bringing out this racist video!"

But the people who are still in the squishy middle and who     don't want to vote against Obama because it makes them feel guilty and, after all, he's such a "nice guy," will see this video and they'll think, "Hang on... this isn't the guy I voted for last time.  This guy   is... well, he's everything he said he wasn't.     So is this the real guy?      Which is the real guy?"

That's what I mean when I say    the idiots in the squishy middle are going to take away a very different message from the video than the MFM expects them to take away.

And one more thing -- the MFM still thinks the race    card is in play.   They still don't realize that     shouting "RACIST!" in a crowded theater isn't going to generate a stampede anymore.   At best you'll get a few heads turning and one or two shouted, "Shut up, fatboy, and siddown."

Yeah, no shit.  You're not SUPPOSED to live on minimum wage.       The paycheck is good, but the importance    of a minimum wage job is that it gets your foot on the ladder.   You're supposed to CLIMB.    Those who hover on the bottom rung are either incapable of achieving more    due to      a disability of some sort (in which case they're probably receiving support from a family caregiver or the state), OR they're a lazy bum who can't be bothered to work hard enough to get promoted from dog's body to go'fer.

Whatever else about Rick Perry, he challenged the state university system to come up with a $10,000 degree and they did it. It makes sense to provide a good base education, we are better off with a society full of people who can read and write and have some knowledge in them. The GI Bill is widely credited with being a force in the post war economy. I agree - but that is when schools taught something rather than as Instapundit says confer credentials. Yeah, get off my lawn, but a return to readin, ritin, and rithmetic would help. If we had good primary and secondary education, we wouldn't have to worry about higher ed so much. it may take a while for that infrastructure to shake out - or it might happen really quickly. There are lots of online things that are really changing the game.

ADP is a private company that publishes a monthly jobs number.  It is not the official jobs number that will be puiblished by the BLS on Friday.  The ADP report has a poor track record in comparison to the BLS number - the August ADP was showing 150+ and the BLS came in at 90.  I fully expect the BLS to come up with number good for O on Friday (UE magically drops below 8% when in reality it is over 11%) which is why Romney needs to keep pointing that out

287 Good morning. The video wasn't as scandalous as I had hoped but it is a useful weapon if your eye is on the ball. First, it rattles Barry up on the eve of the first debate. Second and related, it puts BarryMedia on defense. They are now talking about it. Third, because the media is talking about it, people will check it out. Some undecided Indep. or soft Dem white voters will be turned off by the black preacher diction because it shows Barry is a fraud. If they actually listen to the most provocative parts, they will also realize that Barry is a racist. It may temporarily shift some talking head time away from Libya but it's okay to have multiple lines of attack. Especially if it rattles Barry. This 40-minute video will be broken into little You Tube segments of Barry acting like an angry black preacher. Not the post-racial man people voted for. It helps on the margins, and that's all we need.

299 "He's provided a graph showing falling wages in the 1980s."

First question: does the graph's "average" show the median wage, or the mean? The median is what the 50th percentile is making; the mean is the total wages divided by the number of wage-earners. Median is generally considered the more robust statistic. If the graph doesn't say, then the author probably is trying to pull a fast one. I suggest you pick up a copy of "How To Lie With Statistics" - a classic treatise on how to spot when someone is dealing from the bottom of the deck, statistically.

As another 'ron pointed out, another question to ask is whether the numbers have been distorted by a large number of entry-level positions: new hires generally make less than established workers. A spike in hiring will cause a temporary decline in median wages, as newer employees are added. The statistics to compare are the number of new hires, and the percentage of adults participating in the workforce. So, when comparing "average" wages, be sure that comparing like with like, rather than just having everybody pooled together: that is, compare look at the engineers with more than one year on the job, or agricultural workers, or assembly-line workers. Pooling everybody together can be more a reflection of employment demographics than of actual wage rates. If your liberal friend's source can't provide a breakdown by type of worker and length of employment, then said source probably is dealing from the bottom of the deck.

313 TX Senator
I watched the first half of the Texas Cruz v. Sadler debate last night. Thank God that Cruz only agreed to debate Sadler twice. Nothing but abusive mudslinging. Sadler threw his shit weight into the fan and wouldn't shut up for any of Cruz' responses. The chief moderator nearly lost it, nearly yanked the microphone from Sadler. My better half wanted to watch the debate and turned it on, but left after 15 minutes. I outlasted, but it devolved into the swamp of eternal stench. I don't watch dog fights, cock fights, blood "sports".  Sadler wants to raise taxes in order to "pay off the national debt". AS IF taxes, raised or not, could of themselves pay off the national debt of over 16 Trillion buckaroos. Sadler wants to keep "buying" support from Egypt and Libya, etc., via US foreign aid because "if we don't buy it, they'll sell themselves to Russia or China." Bozo Sadler, whether we give money away or not, Islamist powers are NOT ours; their minds/hearts are not bought and sold to the highest bidder. Amazingly enough, they have their own agenda and play others, ironically the too big to fail powers including the US, to their own Islamist advantage. And it isn't as if any other nation doesn't do the same for themselves. That's politics. Cruz' point was that US tax-funded foreign aid must necessarily have stings attached, specifically, support for US enterprises. Therein, who all heard yesterday's radio interview between Gen. Schafer and Jerry Doyle?

When these political debates don't measure up to the contest of ideas, but are time spent regurgitating the memorized hollow talking points, or, without foundation are used to accuse the opponent of crimes against nature simply for affect, I'm not subjecting myself to more abuse. We've heard MORE than enough shit already.

Who all here has read Romney's 59 Points agenda? Debating Romney's ideas would be time well spent, especially if Romney isn't doing that, for whatever reason, or is not allowed to get into details. Whichever great points he makes, present them. And did Romney compose his own 59 Point report, or is that a compilation from his advisers? One thing unlike Obama, you can trust Mitt to do his own homework memorization. Of the five points the Romney campaign whittled the 59 into for public consumption, where are the ads making the case for these five? Has Drudge, Glenn Reynolds, ace or anyone been posting them for discussion? I've missed it.

Where is the list of Mitt's advisers for public scrutiny? Previous campaigns, ace did plenty of story scoops about top advisers. So far, Romney's campaign platform's only admitted surety is Mitt's endorsement of Netanyahu's version of Israel's destiny which is not limited to its own territories, but would function with the US in determining the fate of other nations. Beyond Mitt's foreign policy gem of more never-ending wars yet (Syria, Iran), McCain/Graham/Cheney/Rumsfeld/both Bush endorsements speak volumes as to "expectations" (but I was building a house) wherein deserve's got nothing to do with it. I don't see how Saudi Arabia and Israel could as "enemy of my enemies" remain allied behind the scenes once all other nations in the region are destroyed for usurpation. Wahhabi does not tolerate anything but itself. Plunging headstrong into chaos is hardly wise. And yet, Romney would continue the federal funding of Saudi allied Islamist radical military forces with the best training and supplies to attack the US Military, while advancing Netanyahu's agenda (against the advice/vote of Israeli intelligence/parliament) unleashing the entire world's dogs of war. Somehow, none of this is registering as insanity among neoconservatives. And those who are not neoconservative are "wrong" for not being neoconservative, for not assimilating with revisionism that erases our Constitutional Republic.

319 @75 you need work on your Latin declensions. And don't call me a Nazi. In Latin, there is only the fascis.

I liked how the school administrator couldn't "get his hands around" the food issue. You can say "get your arms around" and "get your head around," and you may express something. The only things, rhetorically, you get your hands around are a neck or a porno cock. Telling, isn't it?

I was raised under state socialism just like the restayaz. In the 50's we little students were totally convinced the only purpose of school lunch programs was to get rid of USDA price-control surplus foodstuffs, and I use "stuff" advisedly. I was 20 before I ever saw fresh spinach. Didn't recognize it. Now I grow bushels of it every season.

The bitter memory was of a system devoted to getting you used to the second-rate fare you'd be living with if you didn't break out of your crummy town, school system, job track. Teachers did patrol the lunchroom to make sure you ate the slop that passed for greens, and you had to sit boy-girl, too. They thought it kept the talking down.

It's just me, but I'm in a scout troop half full of hunters and farmers, and them little peckerwoods can't wait to get their hands on good vegetables, if, as we say here, you fix 'em right, meaning in with the venison. The ADD kids from microwave suburbs, though, will try to subsist on sugar candy for a whole week at camp. "Can't" eat meat, bread, peanut butter, beans. Mom says. Might be allergic. Might fart.

After I got out of high school, my sister's generation staged a coup, and there were cheeseburgers and halfway-decent pizza and a place to smoke. That's all over now, of course.  There were also courses like "Witchcraft and The Occult in American Literature." Not gone, yet.
