Happy Thursday.

And it is a pretty happy Thursday, no? My "instant" debate reaction is up over at NYDN. Short version: Obama was unprepared and unpresidential.

Powerline's John Hinderaker says "it's over." Well...that's a bit premature.

Chris Matthews' on-air meltdown is pretty funny. To improve, he suggests the President watch MSNBC.

Both flash polls of last nights debate say that Romney crushed Obama.

Obama spokescrunt takes a swipe at Jim Lehrer for not stopping Romney from beating up her boyfriend.

UPDATE, WATCH THIS: Oh, and it's still unlisted at YouTube, but I've got the magic link: the RNC cut a video of Obama's debate performance entitled "Smirk."

“Let’s be real,” Carville said. “They have run a very good campaign thus far. I don’t think that President Obama did what this campaign wanted him to do. I think he was off his game tonight. But let’s don’t go overboard here. It will be like a big sort of pushback. … My point is this — President Obama came in, he wanted to have a conversation. It takes two people to have a conversation. Mitt Romney came in with a chainsaw. He’s trying to talk to a chainsaw.”

what an excuse.

Posted by: ConservativeMonster at October 04, 2012 03:04 AM (7rlbO)

19 The comments at Politico in the Cutter/Lehrer piece look like the Preference Cascade I have been waiting for. Some guy tries a few lefty talking points bashing Romney and over a hundred people jump on his butt with, "Your empty suit got schooled. He's finished." Not one defense of Obungler. Not one.

It doesn't matter how they spin this one. The People saw an empty suit flailing around. They saw. They know what they saw. Only one looked like he could do the big job.

26 It is public knowledge that Mr Obama drinks every night. I suspect after that debate performance that it is a detrimental amount. He displayed Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome last night. If this is how he reacts under the most benign pressure, how did he react when advised of the Benghazi Consulate attack? Did he shut down like last night? Were the threat assessments leading up ignored because Obama and Hillary were busy getting drunk every night?

27 Ouch!

Frankly, I couldn't watch the debate simply because I do not want to hear the Scoamf speak.  I would love to see a more lengthy edit of the entire event like that, where I can see for myself how Romney performed.

There was so much good in that debate last night,  but I think my favorite line was when Romney pointed out that the 90 billion dollars spent on bankrupt useless green energy companies could have hired 2 million teachers.

(Yes we all know that the feds don't hire teachers,  but it was still a great line and I am sure made a lot of people realize how much money those programs wasted.)

I'm with Burt - I can't stand TFG's voice or his superior smirk, so I didn't watch the debate.  Now I'm sorry I didn't; from what I heard on the radio this morning, it sounds like Mitt took the SCOAMF's lazy choom-smoking ass, kicked it, handed it back and kicked it again.  But, in the words of the classic political philosopher H. Solo, "don't get cocky."

So - goooooooood moooorrnnning, Morons!  I'll catch up on the debate details on my own.  For all of you, here's a story to make up for the short one yesterday.  This is about the head of casting for MGM, a man named Billy Grady:

Grady was originally a booking agent in vaudeville, counting W.C. Fields among his best friends.

One day, he was in a long, drawn-out casting conference for a new movie.  The producer insisted on using Jimmy Stewart, but Grady didnÂ’t think him right for the part.  He kept offering suggestions, but each one was shot down by the producer and his yes-men.  This part had to go to Jimmy Stewart; he was the only one who could play it.  The discussion kept going round in circles for a couple of hours.  Finally beaten, Grady left the room to check on StewartÂ’s availability.

When he came back, his face was ashen.  “Fellows, I – I just heard.  Jimmy was in a car crash this morning.  HeÂ’s dead. . .”

The room fell silent as the stunned men digested the horrible news.  A few minutes later, after theyÂ’d shared a few fond stories about Stewart, the producer sighed, “Well, life goes on.  WeÂ’d better get back to work.  Jimmy would want it that way.”  Everyone nodded.

Back they went to casting the movie.  Various suggestions were made and Grady took down notes on all of the names.  Finally, when a list of possible leading men had been settled on, Grady stood up.  “Now that weÂ’ve got this out of the way, I have to tell you – JimmyÂ’s not dead.  I made it up.”

The room erupted in anger.  “What the hell did you pull a stunt like that for?” the producer yelled.

“I wanted to prove to you that Jimmy Stewart wasnÂ’t the only one who could play this part,” Grady yelled back.  “And I did!”

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

53 Some counter to the thoughts coming from both sides regarding Romney prepared more. 1) Romney is simply being Romney. If it was more, then that is his standard and his standard is better than Obama's. 2) When truth and the facts are on your side, I'd bet you can "prepare" less to defeat the guy who has nothing to offer so I'm not convince it was simply a matter of preparation quantity.

Agree that "Smirk" is masterful.  It encapsulates the description above, and makes Barry look petulant, mean, and brittle.  You'd think with all of the warnings from everybody, including here, that he would avoid the smirk and be respectful.  You'd think.

As I've been saying for years, just give the imbecile a math pop-quiz ... 8th grade level ... and his pathetic failing of it in public would have gotten his idiot ass bounced from a position that he's not eligible for and certainly doesn't have even 1/100th the intellect to handle, even if he were a decent person, which he most certainly is NOT.

69 The 'Smirk' video pointed something out...the stage prep. Some pundits said that Romney looked Obama in the eye with his answers and that Obama looked at the camera. The some said looking at Jim made his eyes appeared downcast. I thought a little about stage prep last night and i saw what was bothering me last night...for Romney to look Jim in the eye he had to turn completely away from Obama. I think the setup was home field advantage for Obama...no matter what, they set him up to always be in eye contact with the camera. Now why I noticed last night is because the camera was off center. You couldn't notice till they pulled back. But for all the attempted gamesmanship, the effect (probably due to an aggressive Romney) made Obama appear to be tee'd up for a field goal. And Ronmey was kicking them all night.

75 Obungler's mask dropped at a crucial political moment when the people who hadn't already seen what is behind that mask were watching. They saw a petulant child trying not to deal with the demands of reality as presented by a confident adult. The best part is that it was predictable and the one person who needed to adjust to the predicted situation decided he wasn't going to do so. Instead, the smartest guy in the room does it his way and loses.

86 Most telling to me was, Romney would tell us exactly what he planned to do. Thn in rebuttal, the president would set up a straw man that was in no way related to what Romney just told us, and burn it down. See, straw men don't fool anyone when here set up next to real men.

You're right.  I am angry at how they've change the game I have loved all my life, and right now I'm not prepared to give them any credit for doing anything right.

Yeah, there are great players in the game now, and it's possibly a cleaner game, substance-abuse wise, than it's been in its history, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to love the game again.

95 @72 Absolutely! The Dem.-Commies have long knives and a long game for their Long March. We should expect "spontaneous demonstrations" of the sort they wanted us to believe sprang up in Benghazi, and the sort that asteroturf-meister, Red-diaper Baby David Axelrod, hires. When they're voted out of office, the true extent of their scorched earth campaign will become visible. They've even salted the fields in vast swaths of formerly productive areas. The Debt... the Debt... the Debt/QE III.... they've looted the Treasury. The Glorious People's Academic Soviet is now mostly only useful as a party organ. Popular Culture promotes indolence, illegitimacy, and illegal drugs. And I am certain they have a plan in place d'apres 1968, to restrict Liberty further. http://preview.tinyurl.com/38e9ksv http://preview.tinyurl.com/3ddunq

97 I grew up loving the game too Burt. And as a 'little Guy's it was the one I was able to compete at into high school age. I'm 57 now and if I hadn't jacked my knee up sliding into third a couple years ago I'd still be playing in an over 30 fall league. I don't pay as much attention as I used to though. No cable, all in all probably a good thing, but there have been much more important things to stay on top of the last few years. Actually they've been more important all along but I didn't wtfu till Clinton/Reno.

111

from Althouse:

I'm just scanning the web (and listening to the TV commentators). Romney certainly seemed to be trying to win, and Obama was quite mellow. Obama dished out policy points and always sounded steady, if a bit tired at times, but I think he was relying on his famous likeability, occasionally flashing his famous smile (for little reason). Romney might have gotten too passionate, but he was bubbling with policy ideas, and the message was: Give me the job, let me work for you, I can help.

113

innaresting point from Coulter:

In the speech, Obama lied about America to portray the nation as irredeemably racist. Channeling Kayne West, Obama said the government doesn't "care about" black people in New Orleans. This was based on his assertion that New York City received more help from the federal government after 9/11, and Florida got more after Hurricane Andrew.

Unlike blacks in New Orleans, he said, those victims were considered "part of the American family."

Obama was a sitting senator when he spouted this nonsense. He had to know that months earlier, $100 billion in federal disaster relief had been sent to the Gulf states hit by Katrina -- or five times more than the disaster relief funds sent to New York after 9/11.

Posted by: mallfly at October 04, 2012 04:39 AM (NI3M5)

114 You have to wonder, could this debate give liberals and the legacy media (BIRM) their "I, Claudius" moment? Realizing that he is irredeemably flawed, the palace guards turn their long knives on Obama, using (character) assassination in hopes of saving liberalism from its once beloved leader... Of course, Claudius couldn't blame Bush either...

118 Shock and Awe INSPIRING!

Hands Down Romney Victory.

LOL Carl Cameron, clamoring in first take to Shep that "it will take weeks to determine who won," trying to glue Humpty Dumpty back together again.

I made my doubts clear yesterday morning, anticipating the worst so as not to be "let down". In short, thank God that Romney prepared himself as POTUS to lead America out of economic moral deficit decay.  Neat phrase there, linking the "morality" of social conservatism to the banner of economic revivalism. Conservative amalgamation. And only Mitt was "presidential". God Almighty have mercy on us, given Obama's mental breakdown in public view.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see Mitt Romney's EFFECTIVE sincerity functioning to annihilate the "simply inaccurate" opponent in debate. Obama could not bear being persistently reprimanded with the best etiquette for fabricating his own facts, for being INACCURATE in all things represented. When faced with baptism by fire, it only took the purity of water to melt Obama in full view of American voters. And Obama's last resort was to assume messaging his shared audience from Rev. Wright's congregation, encouraging the vote for an irrational "angry black man" bringing a gun to a Washington knife fight another four years.

With all pleasantries, Romney stared down Obama who lacked self credibility and stared down or looked to Lehrer, pleading to be saved from himself. Lehrer, "the teacher" did his best to cheat, prompting his failure of a student through the final exam. Obama can't stand good manners. Barry requires a street fight, armed by his own thugs, himself insulated behind a TOTUS egging on mob action. Look at Libya, Mr. President, and take responsibility. Hillary's "We came, we saw, we killed" is exactly what the Libyans did to our US Ambassador and those directly obliged to await presidential orders, Obama and Hillary AWOL, drunk out of their minds. No one was answering calls made for DAYS. Just imagine Debate II: Foreign Affairs.

Obama is not only self destructive. As POTUS, he's decimated America,  revising our Constitutional Republic into his dictatorship, decimating our soldiers, our diplomats, our home owners, or our ill citizens. Intentions aren't worth the air spent expressing, whether good or bad, Mr. President.

Obama could not look Romney in the eye. And when Obama searched for the camera light, it wasn't to speak to the television audience, but in hopes of finding St. TOTUS there.

LOL, CLEAN COAL!!! TOUCHÉ, Mitt.

Obama not only picks all the losers, at US taxpayer expense, but IS the loser. There is no American citizen gaining anything but more debt from Obama. Even "a piece of the pie" population on the public dole are being led by their pied piper for slaughter over the cliff like rats. As if Obama cares. Consider well the object lesson: LIBYA. It ain't chickens but terrorism coming home, US manufactured to be spent abroad, rerouted by losers: misery loves company. The next debate on foreign affairs will certainly be noteworthy, and viewed internationally. America's enemies KNOW the inaccurate dupe in the Oval Office along with his entire administration are effectively brain-dead, staying stuck on their own stupid is as stupid does.

No illegal holds barred Obama's strings are attached to HIS Arab Spring which is not contained abroad, but dispersed globally according to opportunism. Strings connect point A to point B, both directions. And our borders are still open. So much for Obama's sole interpretation of our founding documents being security which "Present" lost. Security is AWOL while Omnipresent: neat revisionist mirage. Completely ignore so as to assassinate by policy, mandate, executive order and even bipartisan legislation  "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." For disagreeing with Mr. Obama or Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Holder, the law abiding US citizens can be "disappeared" by our own government agents.

On the domestic platform, no one brought up the abuses by DHS, as if that has no negative affect on last night's topic: THE ECONOMY, stupid. Hot potato, without an e.

121 On Constitutional Governance last night, Mitt responded with, "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." Whereas, Obama resurrected the middle of the US Civil War, "security" context: Martial Law and dissolution of Constitutional integrity, no civil rights.

Regardless of race, the Plague from the Democrat Party conquered the hearts and minds of self-imposed "slaves" who, this generation, forfeit rather than embrace their emancipation made so many generations ago during the 1860s, who forfeit rather than earn their way utilizing ALL OF THE OPPORTUNITIES LEGISLATED AND ENFORCED on their behalf through education and the work place.

Martin Luther King Jr. had a Black Republican Dream which the Democrat Party uses as a urinal to desecrate. Today's black Democrats have no idea how foolishly bigoted they've chosen to be, or worse yet glory in their bigotry "because they could", embracing slavery within "their" Democrat Party because it's just more comfortable given room and board by the master than to be held responsible for themselves. Even Malcolm X knew better than to be or trust a Democrat.

The President is not interested in "victory" but in "the take". "We came, we saw, we killed." The President is consumed by the Plague. If Congress actually cared about Americans and about our Constitutional Republic and for national security, Obama would be removed from the Oval Office immediately due to mental incompetency. Shockingly, Biden makes more sense than Obama.

So long as an idea lives, the memory remains in effect. In promising "Hope" in lies, the Democrats killed hope. "FDR is Dead" since there IS something to fear from fear itself as sponsored by the official DNC agenda. Fear life, fear liberty, fear the pursuit of happiness. Fear maturity, fear responsibility, fear success. Reject victory, embrace defeat: "you deserve it."

There is nothing when our Constitutional Republic is assimilated into the corruption of the beast which has no regard for endowments by our Creator.

"Blessed is the lion which becomes man when consumed by man; and cursed is the man whom the lion consumes, and the lion becomes man."

Kyrie eleison.

123 In New York City, WABC Radio "news" breaks are trying desperately to do damage control. First you listen to Rush Limbaugh, then the "news" comes on at the top of the hour: "SOME PUNDITS say Romney did better in the debate last night; but not all New Yorkers are so sure -- [cut to various Stalinists in the street for quotes]: 'I thought it was a draw; I don't think either man had a knockout punch.' ... 'I thought Obama did better than Romney.' "

They could apparently only find a couple of Leftist maroons who were willing to say Obama won, but they teed up these quotes, with NO quotes from anyone with an IQ above room temperature (Centigrade) saying the obvious, that Romney won going away.

So they created the impression for the low-info voter that it was at worst a draw for their boy. They're still using the "bury the story if it's bad for Us" tactic. Peckerheads.
