— Gabriel Malor Walp... back to work.
We struggled through four years under that idiot, we'll just have to struggle through four more. And, happily, he won't have a Democratic Congress with which to ram his second-term agenda through, at least during the next two years. Now it's our job to make sure our congresscritters don't lose their spine. Major items on the agenda: (1) sequestration and budget; (2) the debt limit; (3) taxes. Other issues that would require control of the Senate, like nixing Supreme Court nominees and chipping away at Obamacare, are basically conceded.
Colorado and Washington, meanwhile, voted to approve state initiatives legalizing marijuana. So, if you live in those states, raise a bowl for us.
Alabama, Wyoming, and maybe Montana approved measures to amend their state constitutions to prohibit people from being compelled to participate in Obamacare. Lawsuits will ensue, but here's hoping.
Maryland, Maine, and Washington approved initiatives legalizing gay marriage. Minnesota became the first state to reject a ballot initiative to amend their constitution to ban gay marriage.
I will probably tune out the storm of accusations and recriminations that are coming. Gov. Romney ran a strong campaign. His error, one that all of us in the Republican Party shared, was in not realizing just how far the election in 2008 had shifted voter demographics in presidential elections. We were led astray by the unusual win in 2010. We believed that 2008 had been an aberration, rather than a new normal.
Do not believe any nonsense that this is the end of the GOP. Democrats say that every time. Tea Partiers also say that. The fact is that the popular vote was 48% to 50%. That's amazingly close. It means that almost one out of two people agreed with you and are hurting today because of it. The President lacks a mandate and, as we have seen, lacks the skills to effectively govern this country. Sit tight. As the man said: do it for love of country. And, as the other man said: if you must, do it for revenge.
Edited to Add: Major props to CAC and JohnE for their work on the AOSHQ Decision Desk. It was an amazing resource last night. Maybe one or both of them will write a post about all the work, the behind-the-scenes maneuvering, the volunteers that made it possible. I hope so.

Looking at the maps it is the same old die-hard blue States carrying the JEF over the line. His supporters do not give a damn that they are unemployed. They like it that way. And finally, did the stupid primary rules and even more stupid “debates” give us the right candidate? The Republican Party needs to do some serious soul searching. Looking at the map it doesn’t look like it would have made much difference but you can not tell until the final vote count is in. I would like to see what turnout in VA and OH looks like.

Sly Fox
Emmy-winning Judge Jeanine Pirro has brilliantly leveraged her legal experience to create a gripping debut set in Westchester, New York, during 1976. It's a town suffering from rampant cocaine abuse, a fraternity-like courthouse, and a culture of domestic violence. Enter Dani Fox, an ambitious 25-year-old assistant district attorney seeking justice.
And thatÂ’s it for this blue Wednesday

It's fucking OVER Malor. Go read up on the national debt and the effect it has on economies. By the end of this Obama term the country will be entirely fucked, owing more money than can ever be paid back. Taxes and the welfare state will be permanant features as it will be impossible to remove them without instantly impoverishing half the country. The America you grew up in is dead, it's been deliberately destroyed in an effort to recreate it as a socialist republic. That effort succeeded last night. Fight if you want to, but the ship is holed and we are all going down with it. You efforts, my efforts, everyones are now futile, except as an act of pride. Great nations have fallen throughout history, despite what the best men in them could do. So has this one.

This election was like taking a million dollar loan for a vacation. Everyone has a great time for a short time but the debt is now there forever. You can't "fight" the debt or try harder against the debt or hope to do better with the next loan. Some decisions are taken in an instant and last a lifetime. This election was one of them. We'll never do anything but work and hand over our money to the debt. That is their plan, because we can't undo it, ever.
Happy talk about the next election or struggling over this bill or that is rediculous. We've lost.

That's just it though, Obama doesn't want anything. He already got it.
The House can sit on its collective hands (and probably will) for the next 4 years, Obama wins by keeping his first term "accomplishments" in place, and letting government spending go up by inertia.

If you look at the exit polls from 2008 it wasn't women in general going for Obama. It was minority women by 96%. A majority of white women went for McCain. I suspect it will be the same this year.
So the minority block vote edges the split white vote. And as I said earlier, I want to see what the vote breakdowns in VA, OH, and NC are.

We *also* won the 2009 governors' races AND the '11 Walker recall. Those elections were the normal. They are bookended by potus elections stolen by O. PERIOD. You know what this election has taught me? How fast I can adjust to the 'new normal'. I don't know what this election really means, but I do know that smart, resourceful people will eventually win out over lazy parasites. The tax department hoovers up everything I earn, and very day, in the way to work, I walk past welfare scum sitting in the park getting drunk, but you know what? I wouldn't trade places with them for anything.
In the end we win, one way or the other. We're strong, they're weak. We pay for ourselves, they wait for a handout. In the end, once they have created a desert they themselves are ill-equipped to survive in, we will come out on top.
We're the people. Not the tape worms, not the leeches, not the parasites- the people who do things. we'll win. One way or the other.

Pennsylvania and Michigan have now gone D in the last six presidential elections. Swing states my ass. Why can't we seem to break through there, especially in the Philly and Detroit suburbs? The almighty sacrament of abortion trumps 7.9% unemployment-- unthinkable 20 years ago.
Iowa and Wisconsin are two other Midwestern states that confound. But Ohio did go to zero by 2 points-- and by the identical 50-48 that was his national margin. IA and WI are always to the left of Ohio at the presidential level so I guess it kind of makes sense. There was something that no one was picking up on in the last 10 days, despite all of the huge rallies and "Minnesota and Pennsylvania are in play" and "Romney's up 1 in Michigan" euphoria on the righty sites.
Was it Sandy? The "empathy gap", likeability, all of the above? Jesus H. Christ we're fucked.

I’m sure I speak for a lot of the Horde when I say I feel sicker than any hangover’s ever gotten me. I felt bad in 2008, but I knew we were going to lose; and hey, the SCOAMF was a red diaper doper baby, but perhaps Congress would keep him in check. Now? Forget it. He’s got his precious ‘flexibility.’
And to anyone hoping that Benghazi will be his Watergate – I want what you’re smoking. That worthless cocksucker Boehner is, I’m sure, already calling the caucus saying, “he’s got a mandate! We’ve got to be good Americans and get behind the president!”
I see on the other threads that a lot of you are figuring out how to go Galt and pulling off the web. I’m doing the same. I’m sick of playing a chump. It’s time to sign up for every free program I can and also figure out how Mrs P and I can skip out on the mortgage. And as far as personal relationships – I’ve already blocked the few Obama voters I know from my phone and e-mail lists. I have also told Mrs P that, while I can’t tell her what friends to have, none of her Obama friends are to set foot in the house ever again. I do not want to see them, talk to them or have them on my property. I will physically hurt them if they do.
I’m also pulling out of the web for a few months. No AoS, no Insty, no anybody. No newspapers, no radio except for the weather. If 53% want the country to die, then in the words of Admiral James T. Kirk, ”let them die.” I have reached the end of the line. If you vote Democrat, you are not my countryman. You are a traitor, a parasite and a devotee to the party of Moloch. I have no wish for you other than that you reap the whirlwind you deserve.
So hereÂ’s a Hollywood story. YouÂ’ll forgive me if I have little enthusiasm for a long story today:
With the coming of television, studios were desperate to get people back in the theaters, and this meant the creation of ever vaster photography – Cinerama, VistaVision, Technicolor, “stereophonic sound” and so on. In 1956 came out a Cinerama picture called Seven Wonders of the World, basically a travelogue designed to overwhelm the viewer with the power of movies. In one sequence, the camera follows a man (really an actor) who is determined to get his family to St. Peter’s Square to be blessed by Pope Pius XII on Easter Sunday.
To get a good shot, the director built a platform facing the balcony where His Holiness would appear. Pius was very interested in the goings on, and asked a number of questions about the how and why of film technique, so courtly and charming that the crew were absolutely won over and what had begun as a difficult project turned into a labor of love.
Finally came Easter Sunday. The Square was full. The cameras were rolling. The pope stepped on to the balcony and blessed the faithful. “Cut and print,” the director ordered. “Thank you, Your Holiness.”
But the pope wasn’t so easily satisfied. “If you don’t mind, could we do it over again?” he asked. “I’m sure I can do it better.”
IÂ’m sorry I canÂ’t hope you all have a wonderful day; IÂ’d feel like a hypocrite. If youÂ’re a classical movie buff, IÂ’d listen to MozartÂ’s Requiem today. Dies Irae, indeed.

Not just the MFM, Vic. Much of the credit goes also to "our" media, those gutless eunuchs who didn't think it was "fair" to challenge Obama on his every felony, the sketchy version of his past we were given, the traitorous actions of his regime.
Thanks, Ed Morrissey. At least you can keep spewing out "Obamateurisms" for the next four years. We can all giggle along while the shit hits the fan.
More than that, what we've just seen was the national version of the OJ Simpson trial. A jury of millions stuck it to the Man, all right. Mix in some Rodney King, except the looters won't have to go out and riot to get their supply of Free Shit; the government will deliver it to their doors. The Oppressed Peoples have spoken; it's their world now.
Was there massive election fraud? Maybe, but it will never come to light. In a normal world, election judges wearing Obama caps and portraits of Dear Leader on polling-place walls would ring alarm bells. But not now. In four years, those accessories will be mandatory.
Yes, Romney made some mistakes. But it wouldn't have mattered if he didn't. The so-called Preference Cascade went the other way, and it's time for the looters to empty what's left of the national treasury. Millionaires will only have to pay a little more; the Anointed One said so.
I don't expect to survive the next four years. I don't think America will, either. But it was a lovely experiment.

We lost because we allow ourselves to be led by losers who are content with second place. As long as the moderate GOP Establishment remains able to make a buck while losing, nothing will change.
1) This was a replay of 2008 with their chosen loser nominee (s). If this is the best that the smart guys and a billion dollars can do, it is pathetic. Second place is last place. We are losers being lead by idiots or saboteurs.
2) The SoCo0n PR war was lost long ago. It is time the shut the fuck up about abortion while campaigning. Abortion is the middle class white woman's morning after pill. She will never give it up. Either find some smarter Evangelicals or kick them to the curb at election time. You don't have to give up your principles but you do have to learn when a sales campaign is dead.
3) The debates, and the buying into the MSM's rules must stop or all of this is pointless.
4) We stood here and listened to horseshit from our own people and let RINOS kill off every candidate other than "the one who can win this" who lost yesterday. Those of us who screamed loudest were right.
5) Until someone tough enough to change these things and all of us show the backbone to support that person. Yesterday will be repeated endlessly.
6) When you are willing to change all these things, call me. Until then, I'm done. Done with the horseshit you are selling me and done with playing this fucking game to lose.
7) In twenty minutes I came up with a better analysis and game plan than the best you've got. You will ignore it. Figure it out. Then ignore them. You might start winning.

I think Breitbart was building to that. The only way to break the spell is a bucket of water. I think those he left behind in charge... suck... they don't know how to build to that. They know how to build another introspective right-network. I think Andrew's goal was to break through to the other side. I think those in charge rest on their laurels and ends up being a internal gripe fest. He wanted to have so blatant that people had to look and then react. Make it something that can't be unseen. What ever happened to that whole "candidate vetting" bullcrap they were supposed to be doing?

I'm not sure 2008 was a "new normal." I think it's more likely that 2006 and 2008 allowed the Left to **create** a "new normal" that 2010 dented but failed to destroy.
In part, the responsibility for this failure lies with the GOP caucus in the House, which demonstrated no great amount of political courage. It utterly failed to use the House's power to restrain appropriations, which was the principal reason for that chamber in the first place. I'd wager that a goodly number of conservative-minded Americans were seriously turned off by that: note that Romney got 4 million votes less than McCain did in 2008.

1. I've been wrong. Moderation and compromise are not electoral virtues. Noted and I'll keep my RINO-ish tendencies in check to prevent party infighting. Why do I say this? It appears (last I checked) that Obama -lost- a huge number of his 2008 votes, but Romney -also- lost a huge set of McCain voters. That's why we thought numbers were wonky. We knew Obama was losing a bunch of votes, but we were not counting on so many defections to Gary Johnson and lack of turn out for Romney. Conservative candidates can win, provided they don't say stupid things about rape. On the other hand, we also learned that abandoning your electoral loads does not help you. Akin and Mourdock soured their races, and may have cost us additional seats/enthusiasm. Look at Warren as a counter-example. The lesson from this election is that McCain was wrong; party before country is the winning electoral strategy, and it was foolish of us to even consider holding our own people accountable.
2. Negative campaigning works. Romney never really recovered with voters after the initial character assassination. No amount of earned, won or bought media makes up for the power of incumbency. We need better systems to check the media; Breitbart, Limbaugh, FOX News and blogs are not enough. Just like after McCain's loss, elections will become nastier and meaner in the future. Obama got away with calling Romney a murderous tax-evading felon who hated dogs; just imagine what'll happen to the first minority at the top of a Republican ticket with that precedent set.
3. Ideas are dangerous. If you have to run on an idea, run on as fluffy, value-less ideas as possible. Putting out ideas means you can lose votes; you will never gain votes for having a good idea. Expect more fluffy unicorn campaigns from both sides in the future. Ryan had big ideas; Romney had some ideas. Obama ran strictly as far away from ideas as possible, even clinging to Geinther's "We don't have any ideas, but we know we don't like yours" line of argument. Campaigns will become even more tribal and even less about ideas.
4. Debates still don't matter. An outgrowth of #3. Winning the debates didn't help Romney nearly as much as we thought it would. In fact, utterly demolishing his opponent didn't matter. Even though millions tune in, they either don't pay attention, or it is like a football game. You tune in to see how badly your team wins or loses.
5. Base turn out matters more than persuading moderates. I think there aren't nearly as many undecided voters as everyone else seems to think there are. Either way, they don't matter. If you can get your turn out high enough (or depress the other side's turn out, or trust them to depress their own by having their candidates say stupid things about rape), you can lose all the moderates that come out.

I was very upset, praying for our nation and for my children's future, last night, unable to sleep, deeply sickened, when I suddenly felt strongly impressed to remember the Psalm 146 that states "Do not put your trust in princes, in men who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing."
Instead we are told to remember "Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob and whose hope is in the Lord our God. . . He watches over the oppressed . . .The Lord lifts up the oppressed . . .He loves the righteous."
It concludes that God "frustrates the ways of the wicked" and He will "reign forever."
I was so deeply stirred by this that I wanted to go and tell my husband.
At that moment he walked in and described that the exact same thing had happened to him - with the sudden memory of the same Psalm.
We've not read this Psalm in a long time, so it really was not on our minds.
Forgive me if you think that this is foolish nonsense, but I really felt that God was tell both of us to have courage and to keep faith with Him.
This election was deeply disturbing to me. This is not the America I grew up in and I am sad not to pass that America on to my children.
But I am grateful to know the moron herd is here. You are very like-hearted - not to say necessarily spiritual or Christian, but I feel so many of you really get what is going on and see what would be better too.
Most of all I am deeply thankful that God is reminding me that he can take care of us not matter what comes.
Sorry for the rambling post. I've never posted anything like this before but I felt I really had to.
god bless moron herd! Stay warm and stay safe!

There are now two main parties, both ethnic parties.
The Democratic Party is the anti-White party, which includes a lot of anti-White who are themselves White but feel superior to crude politically incorrect Whites, but which increases its hard core vote by a percent or so every election cycle by mass non-White immigration. The anti-White party knows what it is, and uses it ruthlessly. President Obama knew what he was doing when he urged Hispanics to punish their enemies.
The Republican Party is the White Party. It is also an ethnic party; it gets 90% of its support from Whites, and the more the electorate turns brown, the lower its ceiling of support gets. The Republican Party institutionally thinks it is not for any particular group but for everybody. This means in practice it isn't all that much for anybody, and it is steadily losing the ethnic politics game.
It doesn't matter whether you like ethnic conflict or not. America has imported a clash of ethnic interests on a massive scale, and it continues to do so. This is real.

West, sad to say, I'm not surprised to hear about after he got screwed on redistricting and having a Dem target on him for 2+ years. Love, I am shocked about though. In Utah? Even if it is the most Dem district in Utah, but it's still Utah. You'd think if Mitt had goddamn coat tails anywhere, it'd be there.

i honestly think that "Mitt was too moderate" is missing the point, as much as "Obama totes won cuz of the culture war" is
the latter is true for certain groups but I doubt it was decisive in, say, Ohio

This is exactly what's coming. And tomorrow is when they start telling us how it's good for us. It's what's for dinner. I've thought since Boehner took over the House that the Tea Party was his and the GOP's number one concern and it looks to be playing out that way.
Funny all those reports of massive, serpentine lines stretching around the block with people waiting for hours to cast a vote at polling stations all across the country, yet 18,500,000 fewer people voted last night than 2008.
Very strange.

Agreed, but for different reasons. It's hardly Mitt's fault that half the country wants a handout, this is the bottom line. You think getting up there like a warrior would convince them they won't want a handout? LOL, how did that work out for Allen West?
What is interesting to me though is the huge shift in voter turnout. 15 million fewer people voted this time than in 2008? WTF? why? I would argue by and large that's because there isn't a huge difference between the GOP and DNC. In 2010 GOP sweeps into power in the House, and what do they do? Cave in at every turn. A lot of disgusted people that are done with even participating in this farse.

Those "rebels" were AQ linked and we knew it way back then. But it didn't stop Palin posting on FB how we needed to help them. It was only because she wanted to do the opposite of what O was doing.

I don't blame Romney/Ryan, I'm blaming the American people. Maybe this country just isn't what I thought it was anymore. Or maybe I'm overreacting and will feel better in a few days. First, how many provisional ballots were cast in the close statees? Were the military votes counted?
In OH they aren't counted for 10 days!
Next, block all MSM news channel, on TV and on net. Sign up for Blaze TV. Send a message that we aren't playing the game anymore. Cancel all newspaper deliveries that are Dem slanted.
Figure out a way to work with college Republicans, etc to get the true news out. Maybe a weekly paper, etc?
Look at the numbers of total voted. They don't make sense. I spent yesterday in Southern blue districts in OH and the amount of R/R stuff was amazing. Your talking entire streets in inner city Cincy with R/R signs. The victory centers were full of AA volunteers. Young college kids.
Between 12-2 all of the pricints I went to were over the number of voters they saw in 08. How is that possible if no one came out to vote?
Look at the number of new voters the Ds signed up. Insist that they are gone through.
When I voted in my red district yesterday I personally saw 2 people thet had to vote by provisional ballot because their names weren't on the rolls, even though they have lived in the same house and vote every election all their lives.
We must push for a new standard of electing our nominee (even though I fully supported Romney) and we need to push for an end to early voting and a purge of voter rolls so the dead and illegal can't vote. How many dead/illegal voted in this election?
We must stop any attempts to get felons to vote (like they are allowed to in several states).
We must take the Republican party back.
One major problem we had in that the GOP DID NOT stress that many states were recovering because of the Republican Gov they elected in 10.
Josh Mandell lost because he went negative and didn't run commercial touting his Conservative ideals.
We need to fight for BlazeTV or something similar in airports, etc.
We accept that things are they waay they are but that doesn't have to be the case.
Anyway, I have been all over the map on this post, but aaaahhhh!
Voter fraud was rampant in OH yesterday, none of the provisionals have been counted and I doubt the military votes were counted either.
Stop early voting or limit it to the week before.
End new voter registration 6 months before the elction so we have time to go through them all.
Change the assinine way we elect our nominee.
Get the truth out to college campuses.
Hurt the MSM were it matters most - their pocketbook.
Stop supporting companies that advertize on their networks. Not a boycott, just a personal choice.
Start paying attention to state politics. If your good at journalism get a hold of Freedom works etc and try to come up with a way to mass mail a true newsletter once a month in your state.
We can not give up. We must fight to end the fraud. We must fight for our states. We must fight for the truth. We must take an active roll in our schools. Start going to school board meetings. Join the PTO. Start going to city council meetings.
DO. NOT. GIVE. UP.
Figure out what you do best and then adapt it so you can help get the truth out. If the unions can send out a mounthly newsletter, why can't we?
BTW - the union workers here in OH we NOT Obama voters. Many supported R/R. So much so that the union had to come in to 4 plants that I know of and threaten their members to remove all R/R stuff from lockers, cars, etc or else.
******Also, why was Romney/Ryan the last name on the OH ballot for Pres. nominees? Obama was first then about 3 other ccandidates, and then R/R. They were so far down I was thinking that they weren't even on my ballot. Seriously, if you didn't keep scrolling down to end of page, you wouldn't have seen their names. Was it like this every where or just in OH? Plus, i knew Johnson would be on the ballot, but did the Ds pay to have all the other names on it? R/R should have been the second choice, it always has been, but NOT this time. How many people just assume they were number 2 and hit it without reading the names?********

If you did that in 2008 for red States that went blue you saw a large decrease in Republican turnout. That was one of the things that worried me about Romney. There were a small percentage of conservatives who said they would "sit it out" rather than vote for him.
And in a swing State like VA that is all it would take.

First on the list is to return all those requests for donations that my business have supported for 24 years. I will simply write on the donation form, "Please foward all future requests to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave."
Then I will start calculating the ramifications of dropping Health Care for my 9 employees. We pay half ($3,800/single, $11,000/family per year)
From what I understand, the fine is $2,500 per employee. Saves me about $60,000/yr. Too bad for my employees as the exchanges don't start until 2014 and they make too much to qualify for Healthy NY.

This is just a hunch but I bet we'll end up finding out that 1) the Evangelical/conservative Catholic wave that some were expecting to show up and vote for Romney didn't, at least not in nearly high enough numbers (and more than expected voted Dem anyway if they did show up; 2) the self-identified Tea Party folks didn't vote at nearly the levels of 2010 (likely part of what did Brown in in Mass.) and 3) the Dem GOTV turned out to be as good or better (especially in heavily Dem areas like inner cities) than the GOP GOTV had claimed it would be but wasn't.
No, I have no data of any sort about any of that, but I bet both turn out to be true. (shrug) Looks like RR convinced a pretty good chunk of Obama voters to not vote for him this time (or his record did), but they didn't succeed in talking enough people into actually voting for RR. I do actually think Romney ran about as good a campaign as a candidate like Romney could run, but I think this will end up being another case of not giving voters enough of a choice to get them to 1) turn out and 2) switch presidents. If that's true, then a different sort of nominee might still be able to win. If, instead, it's true that the takers now outnumber the producers *and* they also can be motivated to go vote, then the GOP and the nation is screwed no matter who they nominate. (shrug) Take your pick, depending on how gloomy you care to be.

First, despite the seemingly easy math on our current economic situation that apparently wasn't so seemingly easy for many voters, I'm not sure I'm ready to just buy into the meme that this is the takers over the makers. I think there's more going on and a lot of disconnects in the brains of a lot of voters (albeit some of it surely is due to stupidity).
I think some of this is, to be blunt, an ability from our side to communicate a big, coherent message/idea of conservatism/capitalism/republicanism/whatever-you-want-to-call-it-ism. TFG had no plan or vision, but was successful enough in dividing certain groups of voters on very small issues and break off enough to join his kool-aid drinkers for the win. The only way you can really beat that, IMO, is to have a Reaganesque message AND be able to communicate it like Reagan.
That is not a knock against Mitt. i could nit pick and say he could have fought back better against certain arguments/lies that TFG was throwing out there, but honestly, I think that only gets you a narrow win versus a narrow loss, and you're at risk again in 2016 against the next snake oil salesman.
I live in Virginia, Loudoun County. two years ago we elected a good R Governor by a decent margin. Last year, we elected a completely 100% R Board of Supervisors, but last night we go for TFG by 52-47. There's a disconnect in there, that is not driven by the taker versus maker dynamic.
same thing elsewhere, we pick up governorships, state houses, gain in the HR, lose in the senate, but can't beat TFG. People are splitting their votes for reasons that this morning, escape me or any logic I can concoct.
Like I said; may do a double take on some of this, but that's what I'm thinking right now. Thanks to Ace and all the others who make this site what it is.

I was explaining to my friends that liberalism is like alcoholism, you can't change until you hit rock bottom. We will never take the Senate in 2 years without letting them drag us there. And this isn't wishing for America to fail, this is giving liberals what they voted for.
Speaker Boehner, give them the bare minumum votes they need to pass whatever crap they have in store. We have, four? Justices hitting the 80 in four years? We need to concentrate on taking the Senate in 2 years so we don't get anymore Kagan or Sotomayor rubber stamps.
And if that doesn't work, maybe we are wrong. Maybe turning earned money into given money is the way the economy grows. Human nature seems to suggest that people will stop putting effort into earning money and opt instead to wait for someone to give them money but....maybe I am wrong.
The only way to find out is to give them a free hand. We just need to use a little political judo. We don't know what the democrats' skill level for budget writing is...they haven't written one in a term...but I bet it will be as awesomely written as Obamacare and the stimulus. Let them run on class on warfare this cycle and then use thier preferred vehicles for crony capitalism to take from the middle class and give to the rich cronys.
I believe the only way to stop the slide is to let them crash as quickly as possible.

I think the country has now slipped beyond the point of no return. The demographics are now against us. Our current coalition isn't enough to win national elections, only state level races. This is especially true if we can't depend on major portions of it when they lose in a primary and sit out. Lugar's people in IN should be shot for what they did to all of us.
Say what you want about the Democrats, but on election day their voters go and pull the lever like they are told to. If they are black, but an Alan West or Mia Love is on the other side, too damn bad. They still vote Dem.
I despise the concept of catering to the illegals, but the simple fact is that if we don't grow our demographics especially with Hispanics, we will not win. Either that or go back to backroom deals where all the players in the coalition get together and decide who the candidate will be.
Anyway, I'm going to try and start paying less attention to politics. I also plan to inform the kids soon that they need to start planning to live their lives and fend for themselves. I have a few more years before I die, and I might be able to enjoy it before the Country completely collapses. But there isn't going to be anything left for them, and they are royally screwed.

We can't fix it, we're done.
The 16th & 17th Amendments have finally done their insidious work, and the Republic as Constituted is dead, or at least has taken a mortal wound from which it will never recover.
Because the States themselves have no voices in Congress, they have no wherewithal to oppose the more egregious usurpations of their power. Because of the Income Tax, direct taxes can now be levied on the People by the Federal Government, something the Founders desperately sought to avoid.
The Constitution is dead.

They abandoned the House, the governors, and the state legislatures.
Ohio voted solidly Republican for the state House and state Senate. All of our statewide constitutional officers are Republicans, including Josh Mandel, who remains State Treasurer. Our state Supreme Court remains Republican. Both Democrat-sponsored state initiatives failed spectacularly. Our House delegation is 13-3, Republican and we got rid of Dennis Kucinich and Betty Sutton through redistricting.
In Ohio, as in the rest of the country, all the Dems' effort went toward saving Barack Obama and a Dem senator, Sherrod Brown.
In my own county, no Democrat for any office got above 35% of the vote. We have no county-wide Democrat officials. We voted down a tax increase in my city.
I live in a city, a county, and a state, that functionally is Texas with real seasons.
Except for the top two races on the ticket. The Dems blitzed this state for 9 months in order to get Obama a 2% win and Brown a little more than that.
I honestly don't know what more could have been done.

Re the need to cope with the new normal, this is going to be a difficult challenge. My hopes for a US recovery are now gone. It's over. Thus, not only must I change my investment approach in order to grow my wealth, but I must also find a way to get my capital out of the US, preferably in way that makes it easier to hide later when the confiscators come. I've already got land in another country - one where the brown people already rule (and thus can't blame the white man for their failure) and have figured out that killing whitey to take his shit is not a winning proposition. The question is - how do I get enough money out of the US to get down there?
I had hopes that shit would hold together for another 10 years. Now I don't see how that can happen. I was so close to making it out - and now I'm fucked. May every damn libtard piece of shit die screaming in a fire, after a lengthy battle with rectal cancer.

Acedia (also accidie or accedie, from Latin acedĭa, and this from Greek κηδία, negligence) describes a state of listlessness or torpor, of not caring or not being concerned with one's position or condition in the world. It can lead to a state of being unable to perform one's duties in life. Its spiritual overtones make it related to but distinct from depression.

And until we accomplish that, I don't want to hear any more apologists telling us to accept this absolute corruption: assimilate, resistance is futile.
No, nothing's perfect in this world. But I didn't sell MY birthright for a bowl of soup. I haven't given up, though I know full well that until Americans face our own faults and cure our own failings, our own corruption is what destroys us. That is why it is so important for the Republican apologists of corruption to reconsider their amicability with fraud rather than endorse its results. Our nation's founders had to pledge, dedicate, sacrifice and battle EVERYTHING in order to create our more perfect Union. So to hear bloggers here propose their own piracy as legitimate because everyone else is doing it, "because I could" is the real failure, lacking integrity.
The Republican National Party officially refused to campaign for Liberty, Romney refused the platform of Constitutional Governance, and the GOP leadership deliberately practiced fraud at their own Convention. Damn.
I hope that Alan West contests his State's electoral results. I also pray that he is able to expose the fraud. Sempre fidelis.
And with the grassroots American conservatives who hold true to our nation's Constitution, May God Bless. May our Constitutional Republic yet be through the determination of American citizens and the good will of people everywhere. Idea determines form.

For the first time in my adult life, I am ashamed of my country.
By a relatively narrow margin, the people on either side of you have set this country on a 40 year course that can only end poorly. The choice was to be allowed to do "well" if you were willing to work hard, or to do "well enough" if you didn't mind getting free stuff from other's hard labor.
What these people don't realize is that "well enough" is now defined by a government that has no real interest in the individual, but a vested interest in the accumulation of absolute power to itself and its apparatchiks to be used in controlling the masses.
I weep for my children and grandchildren for they have been effectively sold into slavery for less than a mess of pottage.

It's the Republicans who had the increased turnout over 2008. Those votes went poof!
People are trying to assert that our country chose Socialism, race and class grievance last night. The same pundits who have asserted an infinite number of times over the last decade that the US is a Center-Right country have switched on a dime and are now trying to convince us that we're a full-blown Leftist Dystopia.
It's not true. We're the same sensible, Center-Right God-fearing country today as we were yesterday.
THEY'RE LYING.
Our country hasn't changed. It's they who have failed to change us- now they're trying to drum it into us that we're not who we are.
Resist it.

I agree. They'll be a bunch of talking heads suggesting the GOP do some soul-searching and figure out what they need to do to get back in power but there is nothing to be done. There's simply not a large enough small government, classically liberal, pro-freedom/anti-dependency constituency left. The only direction the GOP can go is in a direction where I would no longer want to vote for them (I'm on edge now as it is). I'm not voting for policies that are only slightly less idiotic than those offered by Democrats. The only hope, I think, is to do nothing and see how this plays out. Liberal policies don't work, so I have no doubt that we'll be stuck with anemic growth and high unemployment for years to come (unless the Republican House successful blocks most of Obama's initiatives, but even then, we're stuck with Obamacare). How long will people be willing to put up with that?

Put more water in the soup, there's better times a coming. Say a prayer for Romney, he was the right choice and must be feeling really bad about it all.

Who "forces" anything? There are elections. Primaries. Conservatives are a formidable force. If a great "non-RINO" (whatever that means) candidate was capable of winning the primaries (and thence likely capable of winning a general election)... they would. They will.
If your favorite candidate can't cut it in the primaries-- they can't cut it. Blaming "the establishment" for that seems like a kind of affirmative action.

This. I used to, kind of, buy into the James Taranto view that media bias actually hurt the left because it caused them to live in a bubble and be unable to defend their policies. That's obviously not the case. Or, at least, the bubble is now so large that it doesn't matter.
Media bias has to be good for at least 2-3% or more of the Democratic vote. And I think that's low-balling it.
In any case, not that I care much, but I wonder what will now happen to the media. They pride themselves in being "watchdogs" of those in power. That's obviously not true, unless those in power are Republican. But now that we are essentially a one-party state, will they continue to be parrots of administration talking points, making themselves irrelevant? At least with Republicans around, they could pretend like they were doing their jobs.

-- Part of it is that Democrats know how to talk to their coalition members as individuals. This may be a bit of apostasy to speak well of Team Blue here and now, but hear me out. Look at Romney ads; they are big picture ads designed to speak to Republicans. Look at Obama ads. They are discrete, small picture ads designed to speak to specific voting blocs. Romney puts an ad about the economy; Obama puts an ad out about auto workers. Romney puts an ad about Ryan being awesome; Obama puts an ad out voting for him the first time in a kind of creepy "hey girl" kind of way.
That's a lesson Republicans need to learn. Our coalition needs some tender love and care; we need to cut targeted ads for pro-life Republicans that focus on their single, hot-button issue. We need to send information to Log Cabin Republicans about why their vote matters. Lumping people together into the group "Republicans" and being a big tent is great, in theory. But, when it comes to driving out votes, the only way to do it is by being a salesman, one vote at a time. That's something Team Blue does better because they are willing to talk to individuals about their identity and self-interest as opposed to Team Red's insistence that something that is good for all Americans is good for each individual. Yes, a strong economy is good for everyone; but individual voters want to know "What have you done for me lately?"

I think the idiots have won. We are the era of feeling, and logic is the victim.
Mitt Romney is wrong. Our principles do not endure. Our parents and grandparents, the Founders and de Tocqueville are old and outdated...they were old closed minded racists who lived in a different simpler time. We're in the era of the liberal arts "we know better" generation versus "we know how to do things" generation
Two or three generations of kids indoctrinated with "Republicans are greedy evil sexist racist homophobes who make you pay for things that should be yours"
The culture war is lost. We've become infantilized. Gender roles mean nothing. "Men" are seen as relics. Religion and faith, openly mocked. Hollywood which was never a conservative hotbed now reject quiet strength and doing the right thing in favor of 40 year old teenagers, weed,
Liberalism is the new American religion. Go against it, you will be destroyed. Believe it, and all sins are forgiven.
Supply side economics is now a myth per the Keynesians. Business is not admirable, but rather a means to an end.
Journalism is all about "making a difference" and "changing the world" so it appeals to young liberals. Given the religion, all who oppose must be mocked derided and exposed.
The military is noble insofar as a talking point, but it's an imperialistic tool, prone to recruit the stupid and take advantage of minorities, turning them into brainwashed drones and forcing them to kill innocent people.
Embrace new generation of Conservatives? Nikki Haley and Bobby Jindal will be Mia Love and Allen West who were the new JC Watts and Rick Santorum. They will find the young ones we embrace and destroy them, leaving us with old establishment candidates who sound like our parents.
Welcome to our new ruling class. Technocrats who believe the right things who have been told all their life how smart they are, and have never had to really prove it. Our expert class, and our media will tell the morons that they are spewing "facts."

And all their talking points will just happen to mirror the Jeb Bush RINO talking points against the groups making up the GOP base who stick to the principles the elites find "uncomfortable" or "off-putting to Moderates".
They're setting up the scapegoats and attempting to condition us to accept their crappy accommodationist agenda. Let's not fall for it.

We can't overcome the narratives. The world hates us because of Bush. Reagan created more poor and let gays die from AIDS. Greedy unregulated banks caused the economy to collapse and the housing bubble to burst. High taxes pay deficits and deficit spending grows economy. Obama has spent less than any President since Eisenhower, turned this economy around and lowered unemployment better than anyone could have because "math" and "facts."

The plural of anecdote is not data.
Romney ran with the electorate that is, not the one he wished would be. There isn't a whole lot he could have done but didn't do. Accept it.
The Dems put everything into saving Obama and a Senate majority. They did everything possible to scare the shit out of people like my lesbian neighbors. And it worked.
I was wrong. We all were.

It will not take that long here in America. Our standard of living is one of the highest in the world, and we have the world's reserve currency. That standard of living will start falling quite massively, no new growth and more debt, the decline will be much more noticeable much more quickly. And the self feeding collapse will be much more accelerated. They will keep chanting "tax the rich", until the middle class will be considered rich, and that's when the real collapse will come. It will not take 75 years, 2 years tops. 2013, there will be a deep recession in this country.

Well as far as going after "Akin and SoCons", I'd have to agree with them there. Akin was and is a selfish moron, and there is a segment of Huckabee style SoCons to whom smaller government is a secondary concern.

Interesting point, but refuted because of this: it's MUCH more difficult for Republicans (unlike Democrats) to get away with such a fragmented or particularized campaign, appealing separately to different groups...
Because of MSM bias. The MSM will always play up any "wedge issues" or contradictions or tensions in the GOP coalition (or with respect to independents) that might crop up in the GOP campaign. The GOP is forced to maintain a more "harmonious" (and thus more "bland") overall message because the MSM will seize on anything they can use to divide the GOP (or alienate independents/ Dems from the GOP).
Cf. The Akin saga. The entirety of the GOP distanced itself from Akin's remarks, but the MSM conflated them anyway.
Whereas the Dems can get away with appealing to all sorts of different groups (which are in many ways in tension with each other), and there's little risk that the MSM will use that diverse messaging against them, aim to exacerbate tension or create intra-party conflict. Whereas they LOVE to seize on any intra-GOP tension/ conflict and magnify it.

You are seeing something that has not been said. I see no one coming to a conclusion of massive voter fraud that took 10 million votes away from Democrats compared to 08. So stuff it.
There is something fundamentally different about this election and openly conjecturing about the reasons for it is not the same as putting a tin-foil hat on.

But I have to say, in this particular campaign-- Romney vs. Obama-- I thought Romney's "big picture" campaign was an asset, a positive, something I was proud of (as opposed to Obama's big bird/ binders/ birth control/ etc. campaign, a campaign of little pieces).
In other words, I don't know that I would ascribe Obama's victory to his fragmented, petty messaging (as opposed to Romney's more overarching vision). IMO This is one reason Romney *deserved* to win (and Obama deserved to lose). But I don't know whether this aspect made a difference in who won and who lost, in terms of political efficacy.

2010 was a massive electoral landslide- an epic rejection of the Statist agenda.
How many pundits opined that Obama "misread the nation", that he went far Left with a Center-Right electorate.
Yet these same pundits pronounced just last night that the electorate had changed- had embraced with open arms that same Statist agenda.
So at which point during the last two years did this nation switch on a dime?

Actually, that reminds me of a funny opera story. Tenors are known for being a little crazy; one of their quirks, on the professional level, is abstaining from sex before big performances, in order to save their manly essence for the high C's.
Years ago, a bass-baritone at La Scala found himself riding on a train with the wives of two very famous tenors. "How long has it been for you, madame?" he asked the first. "One month," she replied.
"And you, madame?" he asked the other.
"Seven weeks."
At which point the singer bowed to them and said, "If I can be of service to either of you ladies. . ."

It didn't, Obama didn't turn his machine on for the midterm, much like the first debate that he thought he "won" he was complacent. That was the moment the Tea Party became evil, and he nonstopped campaigned for two years. We misread an anamoly as a "mandate"

I feel absolutely devastated by the election results. Like I took a solid punch to the gut. I had to take the day off work. I couldn't face the inevitable glee from the many O-bots that are most of my Capitol Hill coworkers. All they want is to continue their cushy jobs. To hell with the country! They couldn't care less.
I don't think Romney was a bad candidate. He ran a great campaign. However, our side doesn't set the narrative. The Dems control the real organs of power: the mass media. As long as the openly liberal MSM control the gateways to information then our message will never be effectively displayed.
A few slices of unvarnished information that manage to slip past the gatekeepers is not enough to overcome the daily barrage of innuendos, lies, and slander from the MSM. The media is still able to paint a negative picture of all things conservative. And face it, many people still take at face value the narrative the press feeds them. How do you overcome the propaganda wars waged by the fourth estate?

I saw the strike list in several counties in OH and the numbers of R votes DO NOT match up with the number of Rs we had voting on the strike list.
Not by a long shot.
So, (making up numbers here) if the vote count says 20,000 Rs voted, our strike list had 30,000 Rs voting.
They should be the exact same. Plus, I saw these earlier in the night and I know that I voted at 8AM and was called twice because my name was not marked of the voting roll for yesterday even though I signed the book and showed my ID.
How is that possible?
Yes, our Sec in charge of voting is an R. That is why it made no sense to see R/R's name as the last name on the Pres. ballot under 3 or 4 other names. I bet the guy in the 2nd slot garnered voted by people who waited in line for hours and just assumed they were voting R/R when actually they were voting for a no name in the 2nd slot.
And yes, our Sec of /

A friend of mine in AA used to talk about "high-bottom" and "low-bottom" alcoholics. The high-bottom drunks were people who got sober after one or two very bad incidents - they were fired, or got a DUI or their spouses threatened to leave them. The low-bottoms were people who had to lose everything and completely wreck their health before they quit drinking. I had hoped America was a high bottom drunk, but no, people are so addicted to federal spending and freebies and sweet little lies told to them by pols and MSM, that we, as a country, will have to end up sleeping on that park bench before we wake up.
And for some people, that park bench will be literal.
