Budget office: “Fiscal cliff' cuts, tax hikes would lead to recession
Austere "fiscal cliff" tax increases and federal spending cuts set for the end of the year would send the economy back into recession and cause a spike in the jobless rate to 9.1 percent by next fall, congressional budget analysts said Thursday.
I have some news for you dolts. We have never recovered from the 2008 “recession” and unemployment is already at 20%.

Reading over AceÂ’s Larry Sabato post from last night I see he has finally come around to the idea that Obama didnÂ’t win the election because there is some new shift in the demographics. He won because Romney failed to inspire the base to come out and vote. We thought we had a wave and Obama had a sinkhole. Well, Obama did have a 10M vote sinkhole, but we had a 3M vote one too.
When is the fucking worthless RNC going to learn that lackluster “Moderate” candidates do not inspire the base? Change the Primaries NOW RNC before you become a third Party.

Twelve Months
Don DiMarco lives a wonderful life with a family he loves, a comfortable lifestyle, and amusing passions and interests. He also thinks he has time, but some terminal news changes that. Summoning a dormant inner strength, Don seeks to prove 12 months is enough to live a life in full.
And thatÂ’s it for Friday.

1) I note from the county by County map that y county went blue. I fully expected that as it is normal. We are roughly 42% black and that means the R's really have to get out the vote to win.
2) Now this is a WTF moment on Utah. I note that EVERY county in the State is RED. So Why did not Mia Love win her run????

Not nearly as efficient as the system used in Philadelphia where 99% of voters turned out, a model of efficiency seen only in Soviet Russia.

The much bigger failure is the refusal to address the massive and widespread cheating engaged in by the dems in every election.
Somehow where the republicans were kicked out in Philly the voters were over 90 percent for obama. my what a friggin miracle.

2. Romney got 3M votes less than the incompetent McCain who actively stuck his thumb in the Conservative's eye at every opportunity.
All of the rest of the shit right now is speculation until some trustworthy outfit interviews at least a thousand Republicans that sat it out and can tell us why they sat it out.

Good morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. I’m going on a media fast for the rest of the year, so I won’t (and can’t) link to it, but apparently Massachusetts’ new Senator Spreading Bull had a disaster of a press conference yesterday, so incoherent and clownish that even the Boston Globe wonders if it was petulance at actually having to answer questions or evidence that Warren is a complete airhead. You’ll have to find it yourselves.
TodayÂ’s story is about the 1968 horror film RosemaryÂ’s Baby. If youÂ’ve seen it, youÂ’ll recall that one of the most frightening scenes is where Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow) is stripped and then raped by Satan. It took director Roman Polanski several takes before the sequence finally looked as chilling as he wanted it, which meant that Farrow and the extra* playing the devil were in rather intimate proximity for several hours.
When Polanski finally got the shot he wanted and called “print it!”, the extra got out of the bed he and Farrow had shared, formally introduced himself and said politely, “Miss Farrow, I want to tell you what a pleasure it’s been working with you.”
And thatÂ’s it for today. IÂ’ll be back on Monday with a new story.
*“Official” references say that the part of Satan was played by an actor named Clay Tanner; however, other versions of the story say that the role was played by Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan.

DAve in FLA (from ONT) -thanks for the great analysis (and good luck on your run) Your post last night shows R did a better in almost all FL counties except Miami where he did worse which looks odd Yes Miami may be some schenaigans there but R should have improved sizably on McCain's numbers, not just meet them
Also on FL - even the Dems were putting FL in the R camp even up to mid to late Tues - any thoughts on why it went from +3/4 R to narrow O win?
Dave and Others - I am still trying to reconcile all the evidence of strong GOP turnout (Ras, Gallup, EV, anecdotal) with a D+7 turnout result
yes there was probably fraud - esp in Philly But it feels like we are arguing over a questionable holding call that led to our team losing by a FG at the end of the game when our team should have been up by 2TDs
As #36 notes we need to find out why the most energized GOP ever didn't translate into actual votes

A note on debt limit increase.....note how carefully the last one was calibrated to last just past the 2012 elections. Reid is up to that again......why is the number he seeks for the next increase set at $2.4 trillion? Because with a built in fudge factor, that increase should safely get them beyond the 2014 mid-terms. That's why he wants that number, out of all the possible increases he could ask for.
Are our House dogs going to follow meekly along once again? The last increase was planned to just get us through the 2012 vote.
Quit playing their game! Make the next increase for $1.5 trillion, or no limit. Put the election in play, or let them own the increases forever.

Hey Vic, Bitch McConnell is just setting up his "negotiating position" here. Remember that he allowed the ObamaScare vote to proceed so he could go home for Christmas.
Translated, that means Boner is being himself, a worthless, spineless hack who just wants to be able to play the DC game, while McConnell is waiting for some sort of pathetic "reason" (or personal payoff) to cave.
Notice, too, that an increasing number of so-called conservatives are being converted to the religion of amnesty (Teh Kraut, Hannity, et al) to boy off a voting bloc.

I prefer my version.
But once we begin to question the integrity of the voting process (as indeed we should), then all the many other problems we face sort of take second place. Voting integrity rests on two factors vote counting fraud and voter ID fraud. There should be a national movement to insist that all voting methods have a verifiable paper trail to insure that we believe that the recorded count is valid. There should be a national movement to require both a valid voter ID and registration (at some point weeks prior to the election). The states could (and probably should) make a voter ID that is free and offer every assistance to anyone claiming an inability to pay for an ID or to appear at a county office to register.
If we don't trust the vote (and right now I don't), then the actual candidate and platform promises are meaningless process noise.

4. What the Republicans pulled at the RNC with the whole delegate nonsense. (This MIGHT have been the biggest factor of all in suppressing conservative voters, IMO.)
5. Trying to appeal to democrats. Democrats are NOT going to vote for a republican offering compromise to give them half of what they want when they know they can vote for the democratic candidate that will give them all of it.
6. Trying to appeal to independents. These people are so fickle, there's no TELLING what they want. Independent doesn't necessarily mean 'middle of the road' moderate. So there's no point in trying to be as much of a moderate as you can.
Republicans need to start understanding that they DO, in fact, have enough right-leaning people in this country that will vote for them and will be able to overcome the amount of democratic voters. But they have to run someone that is going to actually STICK to conservatism to get them to turn out in huge numbers. They're sick of all the bullshit. The democrats should be treated as our enemies. They have been our enemies for a while now. Stop trying to appeal to them and conservatives will dwarf them at the polls.
Just what I'm thinkin' anyhow.

This election was lost over race. It's as simple and ugly as that.

I agree in large part with that, simply because a lot of run-of-the-mill ordinary political campaign attacks that might have been made, could not be made because they would lead to charges of racism. Think Obamaphones. That takes a lot of stuff off the table before you even start. Pre-emptive muzzling.

Because it's easier for most people -- and, BTW, easier for Teh Pundits -- to blame Romney for the whole mess.
If we were to look into voter fraud, that would entail work, not reposting some other blogger's "analysis" of yet another blogger's recounting of what he heard from yet another blogger.
We would have to send in attorneys, computer experts and, ultimately, the police to search for evidence.
It's much easier to sit in Mommy's Basement and diss the candidate.
Besides, accusing Choom Boy of a crime would be racist!

And then have every Republican vote "present" on every single piece of Obama legislation. Light a match and bust the joint out.

It is disheartening, but we knew these people were out there. It's probably less the diehard Republicans in a snit over Mitt, and more the casual voter, who isn't really a Republican, but could have been counted on to vote our side if they had ANY confidence in the Party.
Which is why I refer to them as ex-McCain voters, not as Republicans who stayed home.
But there is a lot to still analyze about these results. We may never really know who did or did not come out. I just know that if Dems are gloating, they should realize that their savior is about to get exposed for the fraud he is.

Romney got 3 million fewer votes than McCain.
Obviously, there were lots of factors at play here, but I don't think you can pretend Mormonism wasn't a factor.
My 89-year-old father voted for Romney (as he has voted for every Republican since Dewey in '44), but he's groused about the Mormon issue for a while and told me on Tuesday, "I won't be too upset if he loses," or words to that effect.
(I don't mean to be Obama, throwing my older kin under the bus, but it is what it is. Old Southern Evangelicals, our most reliable base voters, are still not comfortable with Mormons. And remember, back in the time of George Romney, these Evangelicals were still mostly Democrats.)

Here in conservative SC we had roughly the same amount of Republican turnout as 2008. So I don't think it was necessarily "conservatives" that sat it out.

There may be nothing we can do. Advocating actual equality -- you have the same opportunity to work hard and better yourself as anyone else. Also, the same right to fuck up and fail -- doesn't play well. The current official definition of equality is "your great-great-grandparents had it bad? Move to the head of the Free Shit Line!"
Once we figure out a way to achieve true equality, Obama and all like him are toast. They will fight like rabid jackals to ensure that never happens.

In Missouri, Romney and a sitting incumbent Lt. Governor were the only Republicans to win state-wide races. And Romney took about 54% of the vote, the incumbent Lt. Gov less than 50. All other R candidates were in the mid to low 40s, with Rapin Akin pulling up the rear with less than 40% of the vote.

There is a bright side. It reminds me of a scene from Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Trying to get Steve Martin home, John Candy creates one bungled aggravation after another. Driving down the highway, Candy unknowingly tosses his lit cigarette butt out the window, but it hits the back seat instead. Some minutes later, after a near death crash left them stranded on the dark highway, both men sit there and suddenly hear a "poof!" Martin gets up, turns around and sees the car completely in flames. Slowly he starts to laugh until he's buckling over. Candy laughs too and says, why are we laughing? Martin says, "you've finally done it to yourself." That will be my own sweet revenge toward all these people that just ripped my country from my hands. They've finally done it to themselves. And I will enjoy watching that. Oh, and after their laughter dies down, Martin punches Candy in the stomach.

#167 - Generally agree with your point (that statewide officers are best for senate seats) but in states like ND and MT there are so few house seats that a House person can represent most of the state and essentially be like a statewide office holder
As noted above a bunch of senate candidates did worse than Romney in red states. Akin and Mourdock are understandable but the others? I wonder if there was some ticket splitting and they assumed R had the presidency so the voted D for senate?

If I was motivated -- which I'm not -- I'd animate a gif and post

Which leaves me only one conclusion -- the GOP did a lousy
job of getting out the vote in high enough numbers. I remember
in years past I'd come home and there would be a message on
my answering machine to the effect that 'we really need your
vote' that the (D)'s were swarming the polls. So I'd woof something
down and stand in line. As to whether there was an over reliance

I think there is a complete disconnect I've experienced in thinking this is 1900 still. A time when immigrants worldwide sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, only to start crying at the sight of the Statue of Liberty as they approached the harbor. Thanking God that they were lucky enough to reach America's shores. Knowing full well the misery of what they left and knowing the American dream was here for those willing to work hard, sacrifice and make something of themselves, without the jackboot of their own Old World governments holding them down. Those people are long gone. Why do people come here now? Are the reasons the same? I think overall, the answer is a resounding no. There is no pride of truly being an American to anybody immigrating to the US today. No love of country. Nobody cares its destiny. Nobody knows history. Only living for the moment. It's inevitable, given that even the poorest among us do without nothing because they are given everything they need by the government. Hard work and dedication are no longer needed.

After the GOP establishment geniuses gave us McCain and Romney, I think the next nominee is obvious.
After all, no Republican had criticized and undercut Republicans more than McCain. And Romney gave us Obamacare, Jr. So, after Christie's actions this week, I think the establishment will turn to him.

Boy, if only Republicans had a permanent organization responsible for creating and maintaining an infrastructure to support the party and help it win elections. We should think about creating one of those. It might help.

It is entirely his fault. He has no balls and he can force some of the issues by stuff like refusing these stupid continuing resolutions to keep the original $1.1T deficit budget.
He allows these to pass rather than not because Pederast Harry threatens to shutdown the government.
Fuck Harry, shut it down.

problem with that is Il Duce has that exactly in mind. Its what the

They might want to really re-think that. A LOT of people on both sides died in the process.

One small comfort I always remember is that the Left is playing with powers it can't really control, and in the event of a true collapse and civil war it is extremely unlikely that any of the DC crew will remain in power by the end. Controlling the narrative is well and good when physical problems are not a pressing concern, but it tends to fall short when a pissed-off armored division is rolling through your backyard. I think the most likely scenario is that at the end of the day the real winner is Col. O. Cromwell, USMC, currently a captain in Afghanistan who is very upset with the way things are going, and Obama ends up against the wall for treason.

In your studies to alter the election outcome, have you come up with any required actions yet?
Just curious if any of them might resemble what occurred this election.
And I got to thinking about elections, and realized something.
When we talk about winning/losing strategies, it seems we look for the one single winning or losing thing.
I am starting to look at elections as a dish of prepared food....a cake if you wish.
Altering any single ingredient will have an effect on the finished product.
And just because you put in too much flour, it doesn't mean you can't also put in too few eggs, and so on.
Sometimes our cakes fail spectacularly, due to a single ingredient being left out, or too much added.
Sometimes our cakes don't come out as expected due to many ingredients being altered slightly.
Each alteration in itself, not enough to screw the cake, but in the aggregate,
the outcome is tremendously altered from expectations.

Anyway, I just read this article: "Obama Wins 8 of 10 Wealthiest Counties in US."
And I’m saying to myself, why am I going to war for these people? All this effort to try to protect the “job creators” and they’re voting for Obama and ever larger government and more taxes. I think it’s time to give them what they want! I would love to see a Republican bring forth a bill to tax the sh*t out of those making over $500k (the 1%). These are the people who live in these enclaves. Let’s do comprehensive tax reform, eliminate most or all deductions and lower rates for everyone…except them. Let their rates go back to the Clinton era rates AND eliminate their deductions...Now granted, this would not do a whole lot to address the budget deficit. Anyone who is good at math knows that. However, it completely cuts the legs out from the Democrats, gives these rich jerks their just desserts for voting for Obama and supporting him financially, and will help insulate the married working professionals who Obama and the Dems REALLY want to soak. You can even defend it in public to your base by telling them “Look at the stats, these people vote in DROVES for Obama. They want this. They deserve this”. Once you’ve passed this bill to raise taxes on these liberal elite, when the Dems come back to try to get the rest of us, they will no longer be able to demonize R’s for protecting “the rich”. The Republicans are now protecting working families who are just trying to finance their own retirements, their kids’ college educations and pay their mortgages. They could KILL the Dems in ads and they would have nothing to fall back on. Am I crazy? I think this is the way to go.

Great post. It is only what we work for that we value. It is only what we've earned that we treasure. It is the sacrifice that makes success sweet.
Parents instinctively know this. Give your kids everything? They appreciate nothing and only demand more. Make your kids earn their privileges or their "extras"? They appreciate them and take much greater care of them.
Give people everything for nothing and they will trash it in much the same way a teenager tosses their 100 dollar jeans on the floor because they didn't pay for them, and if they get ruined, mommy will just buy you another pair.

It should be apparent that it is an unhealthy situation to have a country in which 70% of whites vote for one party and 80% of non-whites vote for the other.
But that is the divisive environment the Democrats have intentionally created for the sole purpose of short-term political gain.
For that, I detest them.

This! During the day, the voters showing up were mainly seniors and people in their late 30 through 50's. Many were asking how they changed their affiliation back to Independent after voting. I actually noted that I wasn't seeing very many of the 'youth' vote turn out. It was looking like the Obama voters where just not turning up.
At about 5pm, we got a huge rush of 'first time' voters who all needed to register to vote on election day and surprise - all would fit the definition of the 'youth' vote. I would say that based on what I observed 90% of those first time voters were for Obama.
I asked one of the legal observers if this was usual and he said that he was surprised by the number of people who had to register to vote that day - he said by his count it was between 200-300 people.

Long story short- I got behind Mitt, dontated several times to Mitt, dragged people to the polls even showed up to them hours before they opened.
AND I LIVE IN CT.
What other choice did I have? Vote for the Chicago thug and lobster wookie first mate? Note vote at all and let some idiots vote count twice as much?
I'm sorry I don't buy the numbers, Republican voters were ready to crawl across glass to get rid of the idiot in the White house whos record is crystal clear now and you are going to tell me 3% LESS SHOWED UP than John McLame?
Perry was my first choice till he went down in flames and I had very high hopes Mitt would use his business savy to clean things up a bit in conjuction with Paul Ryan.
The Tea Party isn't the problem here. I saw 10 tims more signs and bumper stickers for Mitt than I did for Obama IN CT. Hell we even have a local business with a large sign that states "FIRE OBAMA" visible from I-95

You start at the bottom 50% of the 1%. You drag enough folks down a notch, all of a sudden you're looking at 3-4M new Republican voters.
They wait "fairness." Well, that's my definition of fairness.
Personally, I no longer give a shit about the "job creators" because (a) they're not creating jobs, given that $2 trillion of private capital is on the sidelines and (b) they vote for Obama anyway. What they are all about it pulling up the ladder of success after they've gotten what they wanted.
Once your income is in the $3-4M range, you can afford a lot of legal help to make sure you stay there. The rest of us who would LIKE to be there? They don't care.
I also agree - with some caveats - that going after the 1% insulates the REAL job creators. They are the small business owners who file personal returns for their businesses and are in the $200-600K per year range. Those are the people who need to be protected because they are the ones who create 2/3ds of all the jobs in this country.
Hey, the rich wanted class warfare, they voted for it in spades, let them have it.

"We wuz robbed by that shithead McLame!!11!!" "Romney got 3 million votes less than teh awful RINO!!11!!" "Teh SARACUUUUDAAAA!!11!! would save us if the Media didn't shit all over her!!11!!"
I expect to see the Compromise Crew come to the fore now, giving Choom Boy everything he wants. Because then he'll "own it." Does that ever work? No. He'll get his way and use the power given him by the Republicans to keep on doing stupid shit.
It's easier to complain than do the hard work of selling a coherent, sensible policy to the mouth-breathers among the voting public.
The only way I can see to stop the current tide is to cut off Obama's money supply. Make the treasonous fuckweasel stay in the White House, take away his ability to dole out Free Shit. That may not win us votes, but it will help save the country.

"The downside there (I agree with you, btw) is that no nation has ever recovered itself after the 'burn to the ground' phase. None. Ever. "
And the list of those nations who have survived our kinder, gentler, slow-motion, $16T and counting crash is long and distinguished?
Look, a week ago I ridiculed those who think as I do now. I said we were damn lucky after the Revolution and the Civil War to thrive and prosper the way we did and we should never roll those dice again. Tyrrany was sure to be our payout.
There was at least hope of a step back from the brink, a half-step toward sanity, and a condemnation of past practices. The manner in which Romney, a moderate, meet-me-halfway peace offering of a candidate if there ever was one, was beaten by The Free Shit Army told me I was wrong. Tyrrany is here. The tyrrany of the majority. The tyrrany of too much "democracy".
Tyrrany doesn't listen to reason. Tyrrany can't do math. Tyrrany has no sense or right and wrong. Tyrrany doesn't care a whit about anything but perpetuating itself.
Tyrrany has to die in a fire of its own creation.

Location, location, location.
Its like real estate.
Where does the overwhelming amount of fraud occur? In blue state bluer than blue urban districts like those in Philly yesterday.
The hard core "minority" commies control the district and the polls. Their "minority" mayor protects them from prosecution.
Their Democrat Government protects the mayor and the fraudulent poll sitters.
This at the same time they prevent efforts to make it harder to cheat.
In short, there is not much of a GD thing red State conservatives can do about it in blue State hells.

Morning, all!
As you may or may not have noticed, I've been AWOL from the HQ the last few days. As you probably expect, it was because of this fucked up election result. I've progressed quickly through the stages of grief -- you don't want to know how much I bawled my frigging eyes out Tuesday night -- and have reached ... well, not acceptance. I don't accept what happened. I know I have to live with it, but I don't accept it. Instead of acceptance, I've chosen to circle back around to replace the "acceptance" phase with round two of "anger." I'm so fucking furious, it's pretty mindblowing.
I've decided I want to make it my personal mission to absolutely, unequivocably destroy the MFM. I'm issuing an RFP as to the best ways to do so. And I don't mean the standard things -- boycotts, nasty letters, etc. I want to find fun, creative ways to make the MFM's existence a living hell. I don't want the major media outlets to merely wither and die on the vine; I want them to be utterly, completely, irrevocably bankrupted and tossed on the ash heap of irrelevancy. And I want it to happen NOW.
Suggestions?

Amnesty is not the answer, but not sure they like big government that much. Latinos own a lot of small businesses, tiny even - like street carts selling churros; they try to find work, any kind of work if there is any; sure there is a percentage who are dependent on govt handouts, but, it seems a lot of kids strive for education, try to go to college at least....This is my own observation, be nice to see studies - from more than one source. So, no business person likes to give more than needed to government, no person who wants to do better than his parents, will want to live from handout to handout; I believe they will be open to small government, less red tape, tax cuts, strong nuclear family message that conservatives have. We have good messengers too.

I'm thinking we need to refuse to answer on social issues. Those issues properly belong with the states and we should say so loud and long. Start re-educating people about federalism and if you are asked for your thoughts on abortion, it's a matter for the states; educaton, it's a matter for the states; welfare, it's a matter for the states.
And point out that making all of these items a matter for the states will shrink the federable gummint to its proper size and the people, bless their slimy little bread-and-circus-chasing hearts, will have much more say over everything than they can ever have if things are decided in Washington.
We're starting from scratch, so we should start now.

1. Blaming the So-Cons is stupid and pathetic. Social conservatives turned out in higher proportion this election, even as total vote count fell.
2. The choice really isn't between moderate vs. conservative. The choice is between inspiring vs. dull. Mitt ended up inspiring, but only towards the end. He needed to be that way all along and create an air of invincibility.
3. I read the GQ article that Ace linked (on NARWHAL) with alarm. It seems that what Team Obama did was to essentially create a cult. Once you stepped inside the cult, then you got bombarded with *tailored* messages about why Obama was such a wonderful guy and why Romney was such a mean meanie. Due to the personalized media that we all consume, that became their information bubble. We have to do something similar, except not as creepy and cultish, but to create a unity of purpose within our team.
4. Part of me really does believe that we have to get back to old-school ward-heeler politics. Create a place where people can get help for their problems under the banner of a political organization. The local Tea Party shouldn't be just protesting, they should be offering job placement help, picnics, parties, networking opportunities, meet 'n' greet with local politicos, etc. As it stands now, I gotta tell you, the local Tea Party here has degenerated into a bunch of Glenn Beck conspiracy loons. THAT has got to change.

MWR, I went through everything you did these last few days. I've said it before and will say it again. I've reached a calm about it and no longer see a viable path for our country to survive. My solace, however demented, will come from watching those that contributed to this clusterf*ck go down hard. Nonetheless, I'm right there with you on the destruction of the media, including Fox, who is only slightly to the right of the others. I have no real suggestions other than we have to continue to grow the new media.

I think this may get closer to the point than I would normally care to admit.
Think about it, though, what do we do during the off years to educate people? We've ost the education system- maybe we'll get our crap together and win it back over the next 30+ years, but we probably won't. So we have to educate people.
But we don't.
According to exit poling solicited by Breitbart & Judicial Watch, 77% of voters believe that the Media will get behind a candidate even at the cost of their own credibility. Only 19% of respondent didn't believe that. So people already know that what the Media is saying about Republicans is untrue, but they don't know what the truth is.
And Republicans don't educate them. We hold "CPAC" and "FreePAC" and "BlogCon." We have Tea Parties and local GOP meetings. None of that engages people who aren't intensely political.
The GOP needs to start getting into the Popular Culture war- big time. We know there are Conservatives in Hollywood- if they want things to be better, they need to step up and start making some good Conservative movies.
But they need to be "movies" not "films."
"Stuff" should blow up. There should be boobies. Bad guys should die in spectacular fashion.
Zombies should rise from their graves. More "stuff" should blow up. There should be more boobies. Stereotypical examples of "takers" should die in gruesome and interesting ways. Stereotypical examples of "makers" should win the day through sacrifice and hard work.
The perky, smart girl who is nevertheless socially awkward should win the boy through good values and honesty. The inevitable tension should not come from her (or him) telling a lie and having to apologize, but from her (or him) being truthful about something, and the other having to find a way to come to terms with it.
The GOP should be a minor sponsor of a NASCAR driver (I recommend Danica Patrick, but that's just me).
They should hold concerts and conventions for people who aren't political.
If Madonna can screech out her politics from the stage and get away with it, Lynnyrd Skynnyrd should, too.
The thing is, none of these should be overtly political- but the politics, and the values, should be in there nonetheless. And we shouldn't be afraid to talk about them.

Our Party effort for GOTV has always been shit. But when we had a candidate that conservative supported and the Dems had shit sticks we won.
Well the Dems had a shit stick this time and we still lost. BECAUSE 69% Republicans sat at home!
As I said before we do not know why. Al we do here is speculate.
It wasn't conservatives and I point to SC because it is one of the most conservative States in the union and Republican turnout was good.
It wasn't evangelicals and I again point to SC which has one of the largest church going populations in the country. In fact, the religious in this State still RUN the State and I point to the Sunday blue laws for that.

Some interesting interactions post-election.
I've run into a few, not many, blacks who voted for Obama but simply didn't expect he'd win, or that he deserved to. They know his policies suck, etc and they were voting in solidarity to race mostly to save face for him and by extension themselves, but they did expect whites and others would knock him out solidly otherwise. When I run into them and they choose to talk about it at all, they kind of look at the floor and murmur "... well, at least its over..."
Most had internalized that their vote never counted for much anyway so no harm no foul. They are currently reconsidering that. You can consider that either something to get angry about or realize there may be an opportunity within that reconsideration period to reach out to them.

Related: I tuned out politics for a couple hours yesterday and turned on my talk radio sports station. A 'dad' calls in and says his 5 yr old son was a Dallas cowboy fan. So they're playing touch football together in the back yard and the dad asks the boy what team he wants to be. 'Cowboys', the boy says. So they start the game as the dad being the 'Eagles' and tackles the son, strips the ball from his hands and runs into the end zone. Repeats it a couple times. Finally, the dad says to the son, 'You want to try being the Eagles now?'
Son agrees. The dad rolls over and lets the son win.
Son becomes big Eagles fan after that. Psychology. How does that work?

Chemjeff is right. We need to establish an organization to do what the RNC is suppose to do.
The RNC has degenerated into a faction hobbled twin to an apathy ladened government agency. We need an outline of plan that could be pitched to the big money donors to establish a better way.
There is a lot of volunteer talent and labor across the country that could be tapped on a permanent basis, if there was an infrastructure there to support and stroke it. If done right, it could accomplish far more than with the same dollars pissed away on ineffective television advertising and tossed away direct mail.

Find issues that allow opportunities that both
A)help the working class in tangible ways
B)promote limited government solutions
School choice is a no-brainer to me. The one area where even the poor blacks who vote lockstep for Obama hate the Dem position is opposing school choice to lock their children into horrible schools. Hammer the shit out of them on it. They cannot moderate because they are so beholden to the teachers' unions.
And related to what Sean Bannion's been saying, there are ways to fashion a economic populism that supports rather than attacks capitalism. Big Business does NOT like the free market, and in fact does everything possible to restrict markets and limit competition. Make that a talking point, and show how the Dems promote cronyism and corruption that stifles the free market at the expense of the middle and working classes. Play up that "8 of 10 richest counties vote for Obama" until the cows come home.

As I said, it may not have been THE factor, but it works with every thing else. Voter fraud grows more and more every election because, again, we don't DO anything about it. We just say, "Oh, we need to make it not close enough so that the margin of fraud will allow them to win it." And their attempts are blatant and more brazen each year. No one on our side that matters will actually try to fight it.
If it's easy to believe that Obama could win this election despite how TERRIBLE his first four years have been, and people repeatedly polling that the economy was their number one issue and Mitt was the man to fix it... it's at least plausible that the democrats have figured out a way to move the margin of fraud in a BIG way.

The Free Shit Army gets a return on their vote immediately (more long-term unemployment bennies, EITC, increased tax dollars for having kids) and it improves their "standard" of living NOW.
The thought of having to work for years, build a business, handle employees, pay taxes, follow regulations, etc. to have long-term success in the out years just doesn't compute for them.
We have gone from a society based on people that want to do "well" by working hard to a society based on people that want to do "well enough", preferably without working very hard or at all.

I'm guessing over 1,000,000. Gary Johnson got the highest number of votes any Libertarian candidate has ever received.
You know, if he and Luap Nor had realized that their pet issues were back-burner issues (or already things the GOP planned to address), and had really supported Mittens, that might have been enough.
The more I see, the more I think this was death by 1000 paper-cuts. A little more here would have done it, a little more there would have done it.

Going back to that is going to require some mental adjustments for sure. It seems to me that none of the things I used to distract myself from the state of The State in those days are as good as they were 30 years ago. I won't make a list right now.
For those strongly considering leaving the GOP to its own and starting a new party, let me suggest that the L party is pretty easy to take over. It's been done several times. When the Browne-outs arrived, they had no problem shouldering aside a lot of guys like me, easy as Atlas shrugging. One sudden influx of pissed-off conservatives, and the druggies and one-worlders would go bother somebody else. Looks like Luapnorism is about played out. It would have to be a concerted effort, though, and I'm not going to go back in there by myself.

Didn't hear about the people that were caught destroying republican voter registration forms? How many might have done the same, but DIDN'T get caught?

The fact is, while BHO is an incompetant at governing, he is amazing at campaigning (or he picks a team that is, and largely gets out of their way). Team O's theory of the election seems to have been that this is a deeply polarized country, so the old idea that you have to win over the moderates doesn't hold water any more. You win elections by firing up your base, and then getting them out to vote. They excelled at both tasks. I know I thought it was a daft idea to alienate about 2/3 of the 'independants', but it turns out having independants prefer you and having them get out to vote for you are 2 different things.
Meanwhile, Romney's theory was that he didn't have to energize the base, the base was already so disgusted by Obama that they would crawl over broken glass to vote against BHO, even if they weren't thrilled with Romney. They also figured that the independants would be swayed by a total relience on a competency argument. They turned out to be wrong on both counts. Add to that their bungling of the GOTV effort, and you have a big loss from what could have been a big win.

Make legalization of pot a "someday" issue. Change the "Fortress America" stance a little (not even very much), and change the social stances from "It's not Government's business" to "States' Rights," and you can probably placate the SoCons just fine. Oh, and don't be openly hostile to religion. There's that, too.

Immigration amnesty now. This particular fight was already lost and Tuesday was just further proof. Now let the Blacks and Hispanics fight over the spoils. The end result might be one or the other ethnic group becoming part of the GOP coalition but, of course, that will be a very different GOP than the one Reagan led to victory and will essentially be part of a non ideological fight over scraps. However, the political operatives who thrive whether the GOP wins or loses, the kind of geniuses who rolled out a half assed software project like ORCA without a backup plan will do well in such an environment.
Legalize pot. I personally don't care if pot is legal or if possession of two seeds is punished by the death penalty but obviously enough people in Colorado care enough to show up at the polls and while they were there to put Obama over the top. I would also be in favor of making cocaine (both crack and powder) and heroin legal. My suspicion is that the people most likely to be damaged by these drugs trend Democrat.
Give Obama all the tax increases he wants plus more. Tax municipal bonds. Repeal the Eisenhower tax cuts on movies. Tax the money George Lucas got for selling his studio to Disney. Tax the wealth that George Lucas has as a result of selling. Tax trust fund wealth, not just when it is inherited but every year. Tax beach front property in California. Tax college tuition. Tax art. Tax pledges to NPR. License and tax bicycles. Tax all financial transactions. Tax restaurant meals. Tax tattoos. Tax piercings. Tax gauges. Create a federal regulatory agency that will investigate all claims that food is vegan or vegetarian and impose heavy fines and prison sentences for claims that don't measure up. Tax vegetarian and vegan food in order to pay for this agency.
Give them what they want and more then sit back and watch it burn.

I heard about it; did anyone do anything about it? Here's the thing: If this ever happens, do not alert the authorities first. Take out your smartphone or whatever and take a video of it happening. Yeah, you're not supposed to, tough luck. Without video of it happening, I'm at a loss of convincing people not already inclined to agree on vote fraud.
Again: The fraud that happened? Does it make up the millions of voters that sat out? Yes. We should -stop- vote fraud. But, unless it was at a much more massive and ingenious scale, that's not what cost this election. I'm not saying stop combating vote fraud, just that it was not the silver bullet.

If you turn to drugs or alcohol abuse to "get you through" - you FAIL. You will likely put someone else at risk because you are a drunken, stoned-out-of-your-gourd, out-of-shape wreck.
If you are planning to run to another country because things are going to get tough - you FAIL. Goodbye, leave quickly, and stay out of the way... and you'll likely find things will be no better if the USA falls to communism.
Plan. Prepare. Get squared away.
There's a bad moon on the rise.

Unopposed.
The Democrats didn't even bother to put up token opposition.
Hell, at least there was someone running against him in the GOP primary!
The obvious conclusion-at least to me--is that the Democrats are perfectly OK with keeping Boehner as speaker. Why? And what has he done (or what will he do) to keep that favored status?
I voted for the other guy (who lost badly) in the primary. Didn't bother voting for Boehner in the general. My long-time rule: Anyone running unopposed doesn't need my vote.
Posted by: tsj017 at November 09, 2012 05:13 AM (4YUWF)
Look at it this way... if there's enough fraud early on to make the race look like its tilting more and more to the opposition when the exit polls start leaking, that alone might be enough to make a lot of people that can't vote until late decide that it's not worth the effort.

I agree with you; I said at the time the Republican primaries began that he we are with the worst president ever, economy bad, unemployment high, gas prices up, and the best the RNC could come up with to run against Obama was Bachmann, Perry, Romney, Cain, Santorum, Gingrich and Huntsman? I had an inkling we were doomed.
Oh well, the GOP is dead. There is no way-no way- that any other party can come up with a victorious strategy to beat Santa Claus. None. And when Boehner caves on Amnesty, that will add 20 million+ more voters to the Dem's rolls.

However, you have to admit that they had a plan, they stuck to it and they executed it in a brilliant way. If Romney had done the same, then the media and voter fraud wouldn't have mattered.

An anti-gunner who made Bill Clinton's assault weapon ban permanent in his state when it was repealed nationally.
If the Stupid Party moves to the left of that they deserve to go the way of the Whigs.
I can tell you some of the voters that sat out this time were Second Amendment voters. Every time I mentioned Romney to these people the reaction I got was, "He's anti-gun, no different than that other asshole, fuck him."
If the Stupid Party can't find a candidate that isn't a progressive big government asshole then they'll lose in 2016 too.

-- They're not the base if they don't vote for the party. Now, if you want that as a reason to create a third-party, I'm open to that idea. But, to refer to folks who sat out this election as the base, I think, is a problem. Republicans have fractured their normal ability to remain unified in opposition to political philosophies we disliked and have let the perfect become the enemy of the good.
I think the question moving forward is "Who are the base?" Democrats know their base, that's why they generally ignore them. They know they can count on people to come out and vote no matter what. Since they know this, they don't have to make pitches that turn out to be toxic to other parts of their coalition that are weaker/persuadable/likely to sit out. Let's find out who those are in the Republican base and stop squandering time, money and political good will appealing to them.

Whether or not this is a cyber warfare attack, Republicans should be wary of having their entire GOTV effort depend on one IT project in the future. Back up offline systems must be in place. The incentives to hack such a system are incredibly high, both because many Democrats have proven themselves to be willing to break the law to win and, worse, because overseas dictators almost always prefer them to the Republican. How much do you think that the ability to suppress 2-4 percent of the Republican vote by pressing a button on election day would be worth to Russia or Iran? Do you think that less than their entire cyber warfare potential would be directed at such a thing? And, assuming that the Romney campaign had an otherwise solid system, do you think it would have been capable of resisting a government level cyber warfare attack?
Whatever systems we use must be decentralized and have some form of offline backup available. The stakes are too high and our enemies too ruthless for anything else.

Day 3 of starving the beast.
Had our first meeting since the election of our local Business association last night.
Must have been close to 100% turnout of the 600 businesses.
Our leader is a very proactive and fights tirelessly for our interests.
He is however a negotiator and his recommendations sounded alot like Crying Boner.
After the meeting, about half of the members stayed to finalize a plan we had been discussing for months if Obummer won a second term.
Here is our plan:
We are not going to present this as revenge(although revenge is now hot right?)
Nope! We are now Obamabots!
100% behind his agenda. Obama is my daddy!
We agree that only Gubmint can truly administer charity.
We agree. All requests for donations will be returned with a message that all future donations requests be fowarded to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
We also agree that only Gubmint can run healthcare. We agree.
As of 1/1/13, we will not be offering Health insurance.
We currently pay half($4,000 single $9,500 family per year)
Even if we are fined $2,500 per employee, we will save over $60,000/yr.
Reducing our sales tax liabilities.
In my county, the current ST rate is .08375%.
Materials are always taxed unless it qualifies for a capital improvement.
Labor that involves new material is also subject to sales tax.
However, labor by itself is not subject to sales tax.
Members will now incorperate a second business that will act as the meterial end. End users will have 2 seperate invoices.
ei: I sell a $5,000 job that includes material and labor.
The sales tax on that is $418.75
Now the end user gets 2 invoices.
Say, $2,000 for material with a $167.50 sales tax.
And a $3,000 labor invoice with no sales tax.
A savings of $251.25 to the consumer and that much less to the Beast.
This should reduce my sales tax collection from $150,000 to $60,000/yr.
Fire as many salaried employees as possible offering them to work as sub contractors.
This will eliminate all the tax liablities that come with salaried employees.
My 7 installers will be given their options on Monday.
(This one really sucks but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do)
As Obama said.
Everyone needs to pay their fair share. We agree.
On any given day, we will have over 500 work vehicles on the road.
All will have cameras and if they come accross work being done without the proper Home improvement license affixed to their trucks?
Pictures of license plates and the work being done will be taken.
And then the appropriate agency will be notified of this for enforcement.
(And for those who hire illegal contractors. You will now be liable for the sales tax and possible fraud charges)
The illegal contractors will face multiple fines, possible jail time and most likely an IRS audit.
We are in a Sandy recovery here so the illegals are ripe for the picking.
A personal story regarding this.
An oldtime aquaintence has been doing carpentry work off the books for decades. I was shocked to find out he was a big Obot. Claims hes getting old and didn't want Romney to take his SS/medicare away.
This from a guy who skirted paying in for decades!
He also used me as a reference for a NY State pistol permit.
I received the form the day after the election.
We made a $100 bet which I lost.
I stopped by last night to payoff.
Mutha spent 2 minutes gloating and laughing.
Stopped laughing when I pulled out the pistol reference sheet and set it on fire.
He started ranting about friends don't do this etc.
I simply explained that Obama is now my daddy and I was 100% behind implementing his agenda.
I then told him that his God signed on to the UN gun restriction agenda the day after the election.
And if my daddy Barack doesn't want him to have a gun, I'd have to agree.
I then informed him how we agree with daddy Obama that all should pay their fair share and we would be actively going after illegal contractors suggesting he might want to get legal.
I got in my truck, informed him I wanted no further contact with him and drove away.
He has since texted me 6 times.

We are going to actively avoid giving $$ to libtard businesses.
One of the members has a sign store.
She has enjoyed the benefits of other members using her for all their advert visuals(Truck lettering, signage and advertising banners)
She put a big 6 x 8 Obama sign on her front lawn.
Hope she enjoys her 50% businees reduction.
So those are the basics of "The Plan"
Am I bitter? Probably.
But the sweet taste of Shadenfraud(sp) has peaked my spirits.

"510 I believe we may have just witnessed the cyber warfare Pearl Harbor in the convenient failure of Project ORCA. While it is possible that this was simply the result of a massive IT failure, the errors seem to be of a sort that would tend not to arouse suspicion while still destroying the GOTV effort. ..."
After AoS broke the Orca story, I was finally able to take my tinfoil hat off. There were things being said that didn't make sense. Vote were missing. ORCA explained that.
But some things in what I read about it made me wonder as well. The systems that went down seemed to include networks that were owned by certain companies, and I wondered if it was a real glitch that heavy traffic brought it down, or whether something untoward was going on.
That may be paranoid, but we are dealing with the Chicago Machine here.
OTOH, it also sounded like Romney's camp had ignorantly taken some foolish risks with new systems and software. This is the more plausible theory, but I hope they're keeping their eyes open.

If ORCA did cost R the election I am going to be sick. Changing electorate, O's popularity, Sandy impact, Akin/mnourdock you can understand. Losing becasue your campaign screwed up its most basic requirement is like watching your team fumble away the game on the 2 yard line

115Six times yesterday, I said here that I intend to look into what it would take to steal elections for republicans.
Nobody said a word.
Why?
Because we can't out Democrat the Democrats. That means we can't offer people more free shit than they do, and we can't cheat better than they can. Their entire party, from it's Jacksonian foundations, through Tammany Hall and Jim Crow to the Chicago Way of the Daley machine, is built on a corrupt client relationship with its constituents. As well as on a do anything to win ethos. We can't match that.

@514
Remeber that bit about cyber warfare stuff that we were running against Iran? It popped up back during the summer as a leak from the Obama administration to make them look like they were doing something about the Iranian nuclear program. It died out pretty quick though. Wonder what else that little program can do?

Good morning morons.
WaPo headline: "West Nile virus may have mutated, doctors report severe brain damage not seen in past victims"
