Gallup: Even a majority of Democrats (56%), and a majority of those who think that ObamaCare is a good thing (54%), say the individual mandate is unconstitutional. Overall, 72% of Americans think the mandate is unconstitutional.

Nah, what we should do is video tape troops pissing on the Quran and show it. When they all gather in the streets to agitate hit the crown with a barrage of 120mm morters.
Do that a few times and they will quit gathering in the streets.

Happy Birthday, Mrs. Vic. Get well soon. And you too, Vic.
B'Gal's b'day was yesterday, had tickets to the Daytona 500, but got rained out. We'll go as soon as the weather lifts, either tonight or tomorrow. The Nationwide race Saturday was a lot of fun.

I monitored the weather yesterday and could tell that they wouldn't be able to get the track dry, which they weren't. The race is scheduled for today at noon, but that same pattern is holding over the area just north of here. Don't see them running the race today. Tonight, maybe. The track is only an hour from the house.
We'll see what happens and go when the weather permits.

Second. WRT the occutards, I am wondering if, since prominent Dems, including Obumbles, have loudly supported this rabble, there mightn't be a backlash among swing voters.
I looked up the 1968 election results to see if that generation of bomb throwers, shit bags, and commies generated a backlash. I couldn't tell from the wiki results.

Russian and Ukrainian security services have foiled a plot to assassinate Vladimir Putin after next week's presidential election, Ukraine's SBU counter-intelligence agency said on Monday. Russian pro-government Channel One television said Ukrainian special services in the Black Sea port of Odessa had held two men linked to a group seeking an Islamist state in Russia's North Caucasus.
Some Russians reacted with skepticism, making clear on social network sites that they did not believe the report or suggesting the timing of the announcement was intended to attract sympathy for Putin before the March 4 election.

New York was very, very dangerous place.
So dangerous that a "vigilante" group called the Guardian Angels was

One reason I will always be grateful for Rudy is the way in which he transformed NY in the early 90's

Perception and reality rarely coincide.
Without any documentary evidence of fraud, it's just speculation.
You are making assumptions that simply aren't valid. For instance...why do you assume that small cities are, by definition, safer than large cities? There are plenty of examples of small cities that are incredibly unsafe.
And my experience is that NYC has become much, much safer since the 1970s
(I am not talking about midtown Manhattan. I mean the Bronx and Brooklyn too).
More boring too, but that's another issue.

Democrats and liberals quickly ridiculed the remark on Twitter. Based on the statistics, NYC is safer than Oats, SC., at least in terms of whatever crime you are using for comparison. The calculation is simple: total population /#of crimes.
Why is that difficult to understand?
And why is it that Oats SC reports correct numbers, but according to anecdotal evidence from a few people, NYC may be under-reporting? There are a lot more people looking at NYC's numbers than are looking at Oats' numbers.
In fact...it's a national disgrace that Oats, SC is under-reporting their crime statistics! It's fraud!

The cities are headed back to the state of the early 70s. All it takes is one little thing to spark white flight and it's all over. Overall crime statistics don't matter nearly as much. It's how people begin to feel about their situation. That can change in a heartbeat, given the proper environment, and today we certainly have the proper environment.

Best wishes also to her regarding her health problems
Thanks for mentioning our politics - yes we don't vote for our Prime Minister, his or her party is voted in and the party chooses the leader who is then the Prime Minister
It's truly a dog's breakfast politically Down Under at present - bring on the election in 2013 when we can get rid of this current mob
Lastly go Marcos Ambrose in the NASCAR race - he was my favourite Aussie racer and I'm hoping he gets the win!
Go Marcos!!!!!
Good night all and have a great whatever day is was yesterday!

That was hands down the worst Oscar show in my lifetime. If Hollywood can't do better than this they need to just stop and Tweet the damned awards at the Vanity Fair party.
But I am tickled with all the awards won by The Artist. Much deserved. Thank God they didn't just hand the awards to all the usual suspects like Scorsese and John Williams. As the mom of an aspiring film composer, I was especially thrilled to see Ludovic Bourse win his first Oscar for the score. Someday I hope to be my son's date for the Oscars when he is nominated. ;-)

but if it is, then maybe we should enforce sharia law by bombing the hell out of the disrespectful bastards.

The Obama administration's relentless assault on our country's private sector is having the intended effect. If our wallets and bank accounts contain fewer and fewer dollars over a period of time, then we have less and less freedom. The end result is obvious.

In large cities, you have higher population density - even with a lower crime rate, there could still be a higher chance of crime happening within your neighborhood.
Curious how that might affect the reality of crime stats. It might be safer statistically, but you also might feel less safe just because you end up seeing more crime nearby.
And if there's a single street where everyone caught alone there get robbed/murdered; in a city with a very large population - it may be safe in the entire city, statistically, but it would still be a bad idea to walk down that street.
