— Gabriel Malor Happy Tuesday.
Today is the second day of Supreme Court argument in the Obamacare litigation. Yesterday, they spent 89 minutes on whether the individual mandate penalty is a tax. Today's 2-hour topic will be the individual mandate itself, specifically whether it is authorized by the Commerce Clause, the Necessary and Proper Clause, or the Tax Clause.
I'll be at the RNC for most of the day at the "Blogger Row" they're doing for the Obamacare anniversary and the Supreme Court argument. Members of Congress, RNC Leaders, and surrogates will be coming by and if there are protests at the high court again, I'll wander over there to get some photos. Look for updates here at the HQ and at @gabrielmalor.

Why doesn't the president do something?:
Oil above $125, supply concerns support
Oil held above $125 a barrel on Tuesday, boosted by supply concerns amid tightening Western sanctions on Iran although expectations for an increase in U.S. crude inventories dampened sentiment.
Tension over Iran and supply disruptions in Syria, South Sudan and Yemen have supported oil prices this year.
On Tuesday, South Sudan said neighboring Sudan's air force had bombed the main oilfields in Unity state as violence between the two escalated.

Somebody pissed in Obama's oatmeal and the MFM isn't happy about it:
Japan goes off script at nuclear summit to slam North Korea
(Reuters) - Japan steered off the agenda at a nuclear security summit on Tuesday to hit out at North Korea's plans for a rocket launch next month, as U.S. President Barack Obama cautioned against complacency in dealing with the threat of nuclear terrorism.
...
The forum is meant to deal only with safeguarding nuclear materials and facilities and preventing trafficking.
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda ignored protocol and urged the international community to strongly demand North Korea exercise self-restraint over next month's planned rocket launch.
"The planned missile launch North Korea recently announced would go against the international community's nuclear non-proliferation effort and violate U.N. Security Council resolutions," Noda said in an opening speech.

Personally,I think we are done for anyways. As bad off as this nation is I can't find anyone that wants to talk about it.The libs in my area are too embarrassed by the pretender in chief to dare even debate me anymore at my favorite watering hole. It's as if politics are verbotten as a subject. The mere mention of the retard is met with "the hand"and a quick "I don't want to go there" comment.People who I once respected as somewhat knowledgable are absolutely clueless about what is going on.They are ignorant of QE(quantitative easing),don't know what our debt is,and thier eyes just glaze over when you talk about unfunded liabilities.
Yes,I believe we truly are fucked.

It's one thing to do it with a cool, calm, and contemptuous demeanor, as Gingrich did. It's another entirely to do it while shouting and losing control, as Santorum did. Sure, the NYT deserves it, but presidents maintain control. Santorum lost all credibility, IMO.

That's the one. Our family missed it by a few months. My dad flew over the area months after the quake and said it was still devastated.
There was an epic film taken from the mast of a ship that was washed hundreds of yards inland by the tsunami. The news used to play it a lot but somehow it has vanished. No trace of it anywhere on the internet.

When I was in Seward for a day in 2005 (cruise), there was a little town museum in what looked like an old hardware store that had photographs of the aftermath. Locomotives tossed around like children's toys.
I enjoyed the museum--handmade displays and all kinds of random artifacts (local resident's WWII uniform! local resident's father's old bear trap! that sort of thing) jumbled together kind of chronologically, like an old cabinet of curiosities--but I'm sure it's been "updated" to be slick and pre-digested for tourists.

Pennsylvania representative asks if female co-sponsors of state ultrasound bill are 'men with breasts'
Pennsylvania State Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Philadelphia, picked up the political hand grenade that is the state's ultrasound bill today when she wondered aloud at a Capitol rally if Republican women who had co-sponsored the bill are "men with breasts."
...
"What is wrong with these women? What are they thinking about?" Josephs continued. "Are they women? Or are they men with breasts."
Ironically, the Pennsylvania ultrasound bill has been shelved indefinitely by House leaders, in part because of outcries by more moderate GOP lawmakers who don't want to deal with it in their election year.

She was beaten to death with a tire iron in her own dining room. Her father's a Shiite Mullah in Iraq.
This story smells like an honor killing with a cover up of a threatening note blaming a racist vigilante American for terrorism stateside, another "hate crime".
"Everybody is outraged," Imam Husham Al-Husainy of the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center in Dearborn said. "This is too evil, too criminal."
That it is, too evil and criminal to not thoroughly investigate. I am outraged.
The story implies her head was bashed in because she wore her jihab. Pfft. Wearing a jihad does not protect a Muslim woman from being murdered by her Muslim family or Muslim friends. Conducting such an Islamic "honor killing" does not require fessing up to the truth in order to appease Allah or save face. It's unlikely that a lame brain American bigot will sneak into a devout Muslim home and bash the woman of the house's brains out with a tire iron in her own dining room. That's what her husband would do, more likely than not, for embarrassing him or not sufficiently remaining his servant while living in "satanic" America, California at that.

If there were ever a Republican for President Obama to work with, it was Maine Senator Olympia Snowe. She was one of just three Republicans in the entire Congress to vote for his economic stimulus plan in 2009 and even tried to work with him on health care, but in an interview with ABC's Senior Political Correspondent Jonathan Karl, Snowe makes a remarkable revelation: She hasn't hasn't spoken to President Obama in nearly two years.
Snowe said that if she had to grade the President on his willingness to work with Republicans, he would "be close to failing on that point." In fact, Snowe, who was first elected to Congress in 1976, claims that her meetings with President Obama have been less frequent than with any other President.

Wissinoming was populated mainly by whites when I lived in the city, it may have changed some, but the "tell" is that victim's race is not identified. Pretty good indicator that he is caucasian.
Mayor Nutter's "assassin" comment is very disappointing. He has been fairly level-headed and grounded re: governing the city so far - (except for soda tax proposal). He is an educated man, and presumably knows the meaning of the word assassin. Even before the news leaked about Jorge Z. getting his head slammed against the pavement, there was nothing about the shooting that indicated an assassination.
When all is said and done, this is going to be shades of the Duke lacrosse incident, and Nutter is going to look like an ass. I hope the special prosecutor that was appointed to this case knows the meaning of the term "Nifonged".

He's always been Mr. Malleable in my book.
Gaddafi tagged him for the world to see; Obama depends on "Egyptian Sale" campaigning (Mitt echo) "Promise them anything; just get their votes." At the time Gaddafi endorsed the Muslim half-black Obama, he warned Barry to not fall for the racist tactics of leadership that would prove the downfall for all. Why would Putin or ANYONE place trust in Obama given his sacking of Libya and murder of Gaddafi who not only endorsed Obama, but organized massive campaign funding from the Middle East on Obama's presidential behalf?
"Reset" PrissyPants, whether scrawny Barry or brawny Hillary.
It's worth speculating whether Putin prefers dealing officially with Obama/Hillary or Romney/Condi, and what Americans would make of Putin's preference. Either way, US Taxpayers are over charged for what we elect. Our choice is in mannerism and style, not in affect, effect or result.

The project assumes 3 million people in the first year will drive half way to Vegas, park, then pay $100 to hop on a train to go the rest of the way to a train station in Vegas, then take a cab to their hotel. All this instead of just driving the rest of the way to town or taking a $100 airline flight in the first place.
