Happy Monday.

In case you missed it over the weekend, the Friday night document drop was a notice from the Obama Administration that it is sending the Palestinian Authority $192 million in aid, contrary to a Congressional ban.

WTC 1, the Freedom Tower, which will surpass 1,250 feet today, will taunt the Empire State Building (height: 1,250 feet) by lighting a blue and white color scheme this evening. Those colors were chosen to mock the Empire State BuildingÂ’s controversial 2010 decision not to light the building in honor of the 100th anniversary of Mother TeresaÂ’s birth. Didn't see that coming.

7 Three judge panel in DC tells SC they have until today to explain the SC voter ID law if they want to use the law in this year's election. This has been the Dems strategy all along, to drag this out past the election. The explanation is very simple, the law is modeled directly after laws that the Supreme Court has already upheld. That however is not good enough in this world of Obama EEOC tyranny. You must present reams of expensively collected data showing there is no disparity of impact. Every bit of that BS is outside of the actual VRA and is a construct of the liberal courts and EEOC.

10 In a move to help lower the costs to medicare the FDA wants to make a bunch of drugs OTC. This includes drugs for cholesterol and high blood pressure. This will reduce the cost of Dr visits but will raise the price of drugs for most Americans because most insurance policies do not cover OTC drugs. In addition, health savings accounts do not cover OTC drugs. So when pravastatin and metoprolol become OTC you will pay the full charge and will not even be able to use your health savings account. The government hits you twice. But then it doesn't answer the real question. Is it safe? The BP medicine is probably ok as long as you are tracking your own blood pressure. But if you are taking statins you need a blood test every 6 months to look for liver damage.

They quoted a couple "legal experts," saying the jury may not have gotten enough info on the intricacies of campaign finance law. I don't know anything about law or campaign finance laws in particular, but it seems to me if you can't convict Edwards for violating these laws, then I can't see what good they are.

They didn't appropriate this money per se. Hillary is taking it out of general State Department funds. Which is borderline illegal and unconstitutional. That is the question I raised back when this was first announced.

The problem is, there is no health professional involved in interpreting the results. Section V is the part giving everyone fits. It is blatantly unconstitutional on two separate fronts. But it has been challenged many times. The first challenge was shortly after it passed and the liberal courts of the day made up some BS that said they could violate the Constitution and the actual law as long as it was for helping blacks.

The last challenge was not too long ago in a case from TX. The Roberts court has this thing about BS stare decisis and they decided it was "settled law".

What we need is a court to rule that it is no longer a tool for helping anti-discrimination, but a political tool to aid the Dems in delaying anti-fraud measures.

So then I did a little research. We the peeeeple hold 500 million shares of GM. Per a Feb.14, 2012 CNN article, if they were sold at the then current price of $25.40 per share, we would show a loss of $12.7 billion. That is on top of the $7 billion we are already in the hole on the deal. Source:

So gee, at 500 million shares that's another $750 million loss. The stock will have to reach $51 per share for us to break even.

John Stossel had a good program on last night. Our lawmakers have passed so many laws Stossel was saying nothing was legal anymore. Even lawmakers couldn't keep up with all the laws. The guy made a good point. Makes you want to tear it all down and start over again.

I can't buy GM or Chrysler, and my wife had such a bad experience with Ford's customer service for her last vehicle that she flatly refuses to buy Ford (I'm working on that: nobody has better trucks). That basically leaves the "foreign" (I know many of the vehicles are built here anyway) automakers: Toyota, Nissan, etc.

128 In the county I live in there are no leash laws. It is considered a God given right to have a dog and allow it to run free.

When I first moved here one of the idiots had a doberman that roamed lose and it would get after my daughter. I called the cops and they told me to shoot it.

I think I can say, without fear of contradiction, that Jesus does not make all the dog laws.

However, this is what happens when the government gets involved in "root causes" instead of punishable behaviors. People didn't want to be bitten by dogs- instead of holding dog owners liable (to a degree that would make them sit up and ~~beg~~ notice), they instituted leash laws and such. Then people complained about the leash laws, so they added to the existing laws, and, eventually, led to the mishmash you're trying to decipher now.

139 BTW, a 22LR is not subsonic. At 25 yards it is about 1200 fps. The speed of sound at sea level is about 1100 fps. You have to go down to a 22 short to get below that, and not the "high velocity" short.

And? Most of the cars sold here are built here, and Americans invest fairly heavily in Toyota and Honda. I really should have added Volkswagen in there, too, in fact. All three are agitating to reduce some of the regulations on car sales- allowing things like true turbo-diesels, and lowering tariffs and such: all of which would be good for them, but also for consumers.

They're more "pro America" than GM or Chrysler, that's for sure.

147 I just did some research and it seems I am behind the times. SC has passed a Statewide leash law in 2009.

Too bad they do not enforce it. What it does is make it easier to sue if someone's dog bites you. You could do that before, but this makes it easier.

One most people here do not understand is how their insurance company treats dog bites. When I had my swimming pool built I went down to the insurance company to talk about fences and liability. They said it was smart to put up a fence but it would effect the cost of my insurance which would not change because of the pool.

They said the bottom line was that I was covered for one pool accident or one dog bite. After that I was solely responsible.

Yesterday my 17 yr old who is supposed to be smart destroyed his very nice dresser by ripping off the drawer front. I managed to drag the drawer to the basement holding on to the wall, drilled out the dowels, patched the nail holes he made in the front trying to fix it, stained the filler, put in new dowels etc. In the process the drill slipped and I have a nice gash now across my left hand. Which might allow warm air to to transfer heat to the ground, but this is unlikely to work well. But, by slowing down the wind the windmills could reduce the ability of the air to remove heat from the ground. Ground temperature would not go up but it would stay up.
