— Gabriel Malor Happy Wednesday.
Not much news from me this morning. Actually no news, just three stories that caught my eye.
First, an article on tattooed congressmen. Includes the observation that not many are willing to talk about their tattoos.
Second, the wiseass over at Film Drunk did the math on Miley Cyrus' latest big-screen flop.
LOL‘s per-screen average was $440. Divide that by $11, which is about your average ticket price, and it comes out to 40 people per theater who saw LOL this weekend. The closest theater to me showing LOL had five showings per day. Multiply that by three days, fifteen showings, and that’s 40 people into 15 screenings, meaning, if my math serves (and I fully acknowledge that it might not), that the average screening of LOL had LESS THAN THREE VIEWERS (2.667).
Ouch.
Third, Romney shoots down the silly rumor, possibly started by Hermain Cain, that he's going to have a "unity tour" with his former rivals for the GOP nomination.

The recall, triggered by the collection of more than 900,000 petition signatures, was spurred by anger over Walker's proposal passed last year taking collective bargaining rights from public workers.
Remember that a huge portion of those petition signatures were fake with names like Mickey Mouse. And the crooked attorney general who was in the back pocket of the unions refused to sort through them and eject the obvious fakes. No mention of that from the AP. The recall is a total fabrication of the unions because they see this as the potential end of union power. They have already lost the private sector and the public sector is all they have left.

Well here is theft on an even larger grand scale. Eco watermelon groups sue the federal government and the individual departments like the EPA roll over and pay them off.
Under the Equal Access to Justice Act, or EAJA - which was signed into law by President Carter in 1980 to help the little guy stand up to federal agencies - litigants with modest means who successfully show government agencies wronged them can get their legal fees back from the taxpayer.
But the act also covers 501(c)(3) nonprofits, including environmental groups that aggressively sue the feds to enforce land-use laws, the Clean Water and Clean Air acts and laws protecting endangered species. Their lawyers are getting reimbursed at rates as high as $750 an hour, sources tell FoxNews.com.
What this article doesn't mention is that the DOJ isn't even making a half-hearted attempt at defending these lawsuits.

Yep - a lot of Republicans crossed over to vote for Kathleen Falk. If you look at the number of voters who went on to vote for the Dem candidate for Lt. Governor against Rebecca Kleefisch, the actual true Democrat total number of votes probably drops by about 40,000.
What a stupid stupid waste of time, money and energy - all for the Union Thug Temper Tantrum.

Actually, the party responsible for not sorting through the signatures properly is called the GAB (Government Accountability Board...don't laugh). They're *supposed* to be non-partisan, but they've been bought and paid for by the unions on this. There are a few people who got caught signing the recall petitions for others that are being prosecuted.

Well, despite all the great election news, I am just crestfallen this morning. #AskMichelle did not answer a single one of my questions. Some of them were:
When Barack leaves in January, would you be willing to stay on to tell us how to live our lives?
Is FEMA building those camps for people who don't eat their broccoli?
You let your daughter go to Mexico with 25 Secret Service Agents. Is that good parenting?
Have things improved between you and the President since Reggie left? IYKWIMAITYD
Who is going to write Barack's next autobiography?
Who flies with Bo on his plane now that Reggie's gone?
Will you visit an Islamic Republic before the election? Will you wear a hijab?
When you and Barack need to have a serious conversation, does he bring his teleprompter?
At what age do you think it is appropriate for the girls to have their own vacation planes?
How come I can't see your answers? Are they over with Barack's records?
The question I wished I had asked came from @DefendWallSt. What's it like to be married to a lying sack of shit who sold the 18-35 vote a giant lie then stuck them with the bill for it?

I can't wait to see the take on this later today.
What I will say is that people, and especially polls, are way underestimating the anti-Obama vote.
When these type of events occur, you have to be curious why most polls even show this to be a close race on a national scale.
Turnout was actually good for this race, and when more people show up at the polls, it's going to be bad for Obama, IMHO.
No amount of distractions and fake issues are going to dissuade people who are unemployed, out of their homes, working two jobs, struggling financially and tired of divisive rhetoric as a substitute for action, from voting for someone that gives them hope. And it ain't the underwhelming person currently occupying the White House.

Wormy Obama. That criticism against Mr/Mrs Obama applied BEFORE the SS scandal broke. Even if disregarding the father's travel warning announced nationally as policy, GOOD parents don't send a 12-year-old daughter with peers to Mexico without accompanying the daughter personally. It's not the SS job to invade the child's privacy in the bedroom. That's a parental responsibility, the specific job Obama dismisses out of hand. BAD parents do permissively allow a young daughter with immature juvenile friends to travel against national warning into Mexico to "party" specifically allowing parents plausible deniability of their child's indiscretions or criminal activity should such transpire. Conservative parents don't provide their kids a party in Mexico against national warning, especially girls in puberty without parents. CYNICAL parents would use their young daughter as bait so as to pump public sympathy should a tragedy occur on vacation in Mexico. The like would be a set up to take down the Mexican political administration, threatening all sorts of kinetic responses, destabilizing the Western hemisphere. And the Obama's themselves presented this image of their "cool" young daughter to sell parental and juvenile promiscuity as if legitimate behavior. The SS sexcapades are the cherries atop Obama's can of worms.

The likelihood is that Walker was not successfully recalled, if you throw out the bad signatures. What happened was that the courts decided to rush the process so that the fraud couldn't (or couldn't all) come to light.
Posted by: AllenG (Dedicated Tenther) SMOD 2012 at May 09, 2012 04:24 AM (8y9MW)
Exactly! I think I remember hearing that somewhere around 260,000 signatures could have been invalid if Walker had chosen to fight them. That would have put it *very* close to actually not being a successful recall petition.

Obama’s description of himself as “evolving” on the issue amounts to a public flirtation, and has prompted speculation that he’ll become a gay-marriage supporter in time for the Democratic National Convention this summer in Charlotte.
Beyond swing-state sensitivities, Obama is also navigating cross-currents within his party. Social liberals and young people are pushing him to support gay marriage. But African-American voters, crucial to an Obama victory, are divided on the issue. All this explains why the White House has struggled in recent days to define its position. Vice President Joe Biden made headlines Sunday when he expressed support for same-sex marriage, a statement the administration frantically walked back.
I'm guessing that they won't let Joey out of the basement from now until November. Evolving my ass. Barry is all for it. In more ways than one

Isn't it odd that the purported support of "gay marriage" never translates into referendum votes. I mean, I keep hearing how everyone is "for" gay marriage but, oddly, when people get into the voting booth they somehow don't select that option. Perhaps this "support" is not so, uh, real?
Posted by: dagny at May 09, 2012 05:05 AM (JoL4S)
The overwhelming North Carolina vote to define marriage as legal only between a man and woman is an unequivocal reminder that gay marriage remains unappealing in many parts of the country, even as its support grows overall nationally.
Yeah, it's appeal is becoming more selective. As for support growing, I don't recall the voters ever voting it in at the ballot box. Either the legislature passes it or the courts impose it.

Thank you. Gabe tweeted something yesterday about how "Gay Marriage" had won at least one ballot vote. I read his link and thought something was off, but my brain was too muddled yesterday to figure it out. Your comment just reminded me.
Gay Marriage has never been implemented by the voters. The best the Gay marriage lobby has is that, in a couple of states, amendments to specifically outlaw them have not passed. And the one he tweeted yesterday was overly broad.

Just think, if PA was on the Section V list Holder would have already stopped it. As it is, the racists and the commies have to initiate the action and depend on a sympathetic libtard judge to give them standing and an injunction to halt the law, despite the fact that all these laws now are modeled after ones the Supreme Court has ruled as acceptable.
It is "lawfare" pure and simple to try to get it drug out past the Obama election. One of the many reasons why this Section V shit is purely unconstitutional.

(MSNBC) - On other other side, some gay and lesbian rights advocates portrayed the North Carolina outcome as a case of voters being uninformed or deceived.
The gay and lesbian advocacy group Faith in America said that voters were “duped into believing their religious belief justified bringing harm to the state's gay and lesbian individuals, especially youth and their families.”
Yes, once again if you're against liberalism and its agenda it's only because you're stupid.
Among Democrats, 65 percent say same-sex marriages should be recognized by the law as valid, but among only about one in five Republicans hold that view. Among independents, 57 percent think sex marriages should be legally recognized.

It's not even that. Not only are you not facilitating it, you aren't even hindering it. They are free to engage in that activity as much as they want. For that matter they are free to go to a church of their choice and get "married." The only thing that is being limited is that the state is not giving legal recognition. It's no different than that TV show "Sister Wives."

And most states already have "civil unions."
At this point, the only thing I can think of that homosexuals can't get pretty easily that heterosexuals can is a "Married" tax status.
Insurance for your partner? Virtually every private employer already provides that option, which means virtually every insurance company does as well.
"Visitation rights" in the Hospital: You can already visit anyone you want whenever you want. If you're talking about HIPAA specific stuff, even married couples have to provide specific permission for doctors to talk to the spouse.
Inheritance Rights: It's called a will. Yes, it can be challenged. So can a straight person's. It happens all the time.

I don't believe that. The REAL issue is that most gays today are not totally accepted by their own families, and a lot of them are from Catholic families. They have this idea that if the state legitimizes them as "married," then everyone will automatically accept them. But some just want to be able to call their partner "wife" or "husband." It's an instinctive thing; they feel endlessly victimized and put-upon because they can't use "our" titles for each other. I know many gay couples who think this is BS, they have civil unions and some have even had ceremonies and call themselves married.
Mostly this whole same-sex marriage thing is an invention of political operatives on both sides. Liberals use it to point fingers at conservatives for being bigoted and homophobic and raise lots of money from affluent gays. Conservatives use it to gin up the vote from evangelicals.

@AllenG,
To be fair the hosptial visitation is for visting outside or normal hours when "immediately family" is usually the only people allowed.
That being said, if you're not being disruptive, most hospitals will probably just it slide. (And if it's disruptive, no state law is going to help you anyway. There are endless cases of hetero couples bringing their extended family troubles to the hospital. Someone always gets kicked out, and I'm not really sure it has to do with whose married, it's going to come down to who the lawyers decided is safest to trust with decision making if shit goes south.)
