June? Huh. June.

Two videos this morning.

First up, Orrin Hatch opponent Dan Liljenquist says he supports tax increases (he calls them "revenue enhancements") if necessary to cut the deficit and as part of a deal to cut entitlement spending. Hatch says no to tax hikes, even as part of a deal.

Second, from the folks over at Breitbart, last night President Clinton shot down President Obama's attacks on Romney's business record, explaining both that Bain's activities were both good and necessary, and saying that Romney had a "sterling business career."

Have a great weekend.

(And don't give me that "just get a blackout curtain" nonsense--my body still notes the position of the sun when I go to work and drive home.  At 5 p.m., the sun is in the 3 p.m. position.  At 7 a.m., the sun isn't up yet.  In JUNE. The only way not to notice this is to never leave the basement with boarded up windows, ever. The blackout curtain is necessary to block the streetlights, otherwise I can read in bed with the lights off, but it doesn't affect the lizard part of the brain that reacts to the position of the sun.)

(I wonder if this is why Hoosiers are getting so much fatter than before...not enough sleep = fucked up cortisol, getting up at six to go to work after five hours of sleep = snacking on sugary carbs all day to stay mildly alert....hrm.)

Of course, but he has to say that.  He doesn't want to be accused of torpedoing Obama-that would be bad for Hill in '16.  It's what he doesn't say about Obama's policies (they'rrrrrre GREAT!), and what he does say about Romney's experience.

28 This article appeared a couple of days ago at Cato and is another example of the ever expanding reach of the feds:

If youÂ’re a small merchant and you do a lot of cash business, please read on very carefully:

A federal law called the Bank Secrecy Act requires that banks report to the feds their customers’ transactions of over $10,000 in currency. More menacingly, the BSA makes it a federal crime for customers to try to dodge this paperwork burden (or just hedge their privacy) by making repeated smaller deposits or withdrawals that, totaled up, would meet the $10,000 threshold. When the Supreme Court ruled in 1994 that defendants could not be convicted of this “structuring” offense unless they knew the practice was illegal, Congress promptly changed the law to delete the willfulness requirement.

30 I have changed my mind about Orrin Hatch. While it is true that he has made a few bad votes, over his career he has consistently defended conservative principles as well as unwavering and fierce support for our judicial nominees. Clarence Thomas and Robert Bork come to mind. You may not agree, but Hatch is definitely not in the same category as Dick-weed Lugar. Liljenquist is no Tea Party candidate and is looking and sounding more like an establishmentarian RINO with each passing day. I support Hatch. Now go get your fucking shine boxes.

46 Bloomberg's BusinessWeek is reporting that there was a bunch of quid pro quoing going on with the drug industry and the Dems to get OCare concessions.

Drugmakers led by Pfizer (PFE) (PFE) Inc. agreed to run a “very significant public campaign” bankrolling political support for the 2010 health-care law, including TV ads, while the Obama administration promised to block provisions opposed by drugmakers, documents released by Republicans show.

The internal memos and e-mails for the first time unveil the industry's plan to finance positive TV ads and supportive groups, along with providing $80 billion in discounts and taxes that were included in the law. The administration has previously denied the existence of a deal involving political support.

I still can't fathom how New Yorkers don't toss Bloomberg out on his ass.

No the serfs like him. I don't get it. They are basically tenants paying fees to their landlord (Count Bloomberg )for their homes. They can be evicted at whim and replaced by illegal immigrants.

Good to see you're up, Vic.  After yesterday's headline thread, I don't think anyone begrudges you a little extra sleep.

Today in 1913, D.W. Griffith began filming "Judith of Bethulia."  A retelling of the story of Judith and Holofernes from the Old Testamen't "Book of Judith," it was the first feature-length (meaning an hour long) movie released by the Biograph company.  The Biograph directors were worried not only about the length of the film - they didn't think people would watch a movie for that long - but by the cost of the film (over $30,000), which strained the limited Biograph budget.

They refused to allow Griffith to make any more films of "Judith's" length, so he left Biograph, taking a stable of actors with him, including future stars Blanche Sweet, Henry B. Walthall, Mae Marsh, the Gish sisters, Lionel Barrymore and future movie Tarzan Elmo Lincoln.  He formed the Reliance-Majestic studios and began work on "The Birth of A Nation."

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend, 'rons and 'ronettes.

". . .Jack the Ripper as a cannibal."

Don't need to wait for Hollywood.  After the September 30, 1888 "double event" murders of Elizabeth Stride and Catharine Eddowes, a Mr. Lusk of the local vigilance committee received a package with part of a human kidney in it, enclosed with a letter (dated "From Hell") where the writer said that he took Eddowes' kidney and "fried and ate it was very nise [sic]."

Ripperologists believe the note was a journalist's hoax, although pathologic examination showed that the kidney itself was real.

119 95 Separating ourselves from Britain took all that Americans had in order to accomplish.

Wilson's worms rotting in the grave: 100 years ago he campaigned for president by pushing promises NEVER MEANT to be kept.
Supported States Rights
Supported Individualism
Supported No Participation in the European Wars for Empire

Yes, even while remaining silent on his desires to achieve the downfall of the "outmoded, irrelevant" Constitution and to push the USA into his dreamy League of Nations with insane Wilsonian propaganda "The Great War to End All Wars"; instituting the national income tax, government goon G-Men and the Federal Reserve.

Prior to Wilson, presidential candidates promised what they WANTED TO ACHIEVE (whether they could or not was another matter). Woodrow Wilson was the first to campaign utter Deception.

You'd think that after 100 years, voters would wise up. NEVER vote for the candidate with the biggest war chest. Blood money buys deception at an awful cost. And the fool who believes propaganda, failing to conduct skeptical research before voting, is torching America.

Does Bill actually intend to direct Obama's re-election bid on behalf of the Democrat Party? Obama couldn't convert skeptics regardless of how hard his TOTUS blubbers. So Bill is Barry's last hope. The re-elected Barry would be (specifically) Bill's Puppet. Does Bill Clinton have so much faith in himself to think he can own the miscreant Obama? Clinton has the Democrat voters behind him that Obama lacks. But having proved a most egregious amateur, incapable of successful internship in office, Obama lost all "hope". As ever, politicians rely on the idiot vote. 183 All these revised numbers downward....unexpectedly, of course.  Why not just wait until the actual numbers fall into place and then they wouldn't need to be revised at all?

The five-term Republican congressman submitted 1,830 signatures of which only 244 were deemed valid. When evacuated from the field, yes. No doubt, no better in the world.

Yet despite his best efforts, Michael Yon's critique of the available officer medivac helicopters remaining grounded while wounded soldiers bleed out has never been addressed by either the Brass, the POTUS or Congress.

I'll never forget the stench of urine in the Veterans Hospital when visiting my uncle.

206 If thereÂ’s anything Granny Warren hates more than a fake Indian or a plagiarist, itÂ’s one of these damn real-estate speculators buying up the hammered middle classÂ’ homes and flipping them for big bucks.

Unless, of course, Granny is the hypocrite conniving with the banks to do the hammering and the hacking.

Granny wrote in 2000 that foreclosure sales “are notorious for fetching low prices.” And boy, would she know.

HereÂ’s a foreclosed property she picked up in Oklahoma City at 2123 NW 14th St. for $4,000 in 1993. She transferred it to her brother and his wife in March 2004 and they sold it for $30,000 in February 2006.

Of course this is the same Elizabeth Warren who talked about...
"There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody."

210 Steve Rothman is meeting with Obama in the Oval Office today. I'm loving the deathmatch between him and Bill Pascrell. Some Democrats are saying Rothman should have gone after Garrett, but he was too yellow. But the radio ads with a message from Big Dog himself have been relentless. It seems the national party has taken a keen interest in this particular primary.

215 Orrin Hatch opponent Dan Liljenquist says he supports tax increases (he calls them "revenue enhancements") if necessary to cut the deficit and as part of a deal to cut entitlement spending. Hatch says no to tax hikes, even as part of a deal.

217 Cossacks of Zaporozhian pioneer the AoS lifestyle, circa 1676, writing a letter to the Ottoman Sultan explaining that no, they will not surrender:

Thou art a turkish imp, the damned devil's brother and friend, and a secretary to Lucifer himself.

What the devil kind of knight art thou that cannot slay a hedgehog with your naked ass?

The devil shits, and your army eats. Thou son of a bitch wilt not ever make subjects of Christian sons; we have no fear of your army, by land and by sea we will battle with thee, fuck thy mother.....

Pig's snout, mare's arse, slaughterhouse cur....

So the Zaporozhians declare, you lowlife. Thou wilt not even be herding Christian pigs....
