Happy 'This Changes Everything!' Day.

There are new NBC/Marist polls showing Obama and Romney within the margin of error in Michigan, New Hampshire, and North Carolina.

Tim Carney has yet another amazing column this week, this time on the Left's "Strategic Epistemic Closure."

A German regional court, demonstrating neither sound judgment nor historical awareness, held that circumcision on religious grounds is abuse, for which doctors can be criminally charged.

Google is out with a new $199 tablet, the Nexus 7. "7" because it's a seven-inch tablet, more like the Amazon Kindle Fire than a full-blown iPad.

Sen. Brown (R-MA) has joined calls for AG Holder's resignation. Two House Democrats have already announced that they will vote for holding AG Holder in contempt, and up to 29 more are expected.

5 Good Morning Morons.  Today is the big day and it is Thursday, June 28, 2012.  On this day in the Clinton year 2000 Elia Gonzales was returned to Cuba.  And who could forget this beautiful picture of the Clinton DOJ in action.  Of course on August 16, 2006, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit affirmed the dismissal of an excessive force lawsuit brought by Dalrymple and others against the Federal Government and Reno.  After all every 9 year old kid needs a squad of Gestapo goons with machine guns raiding their home and poking those guns in his face.

8 Fox reporter defines judicial activism.

Judicial activism properly refers to how a judge interprets the law, rather than the subjective desirability of the outcome of a case. It occurs when judges write subjective policy preferences into their decisions rather than interpreting the constitutional or statutory provisions according to the lawÂ’s original meaning or plain text.

I say the term has been so abused by liberals in the past that it has now become meaningless.  Note that the same thng is happening now to the term “racism”.

9 RINOs sell us out on the boondoggle highway bill.  They approve student loan crap that Obama wants for the 2012 election (more spending of faker money) and drop the Keystone Pipeline.  So what was the great compromise that they got?

n return, House Republicans won Senate concessions that would halve the time allowed for environmental reviews for highway projects, and squeeze money for bike paths and pedestrian safety projects by forcing them to compete with other transportation projects, said congressional aides and environmental lobbyists.

In short they got another frakin bag of beans and hearty handshake.  They got shit and we the taxpayers got shaftedÂ…Â…..again

10 Not every area of TX is good.  Take a look at the new strip club tax in Houston and look at the incredibly stupid reason they give for passing it.

Supporters of the Houston ordinance, which was supported by Mayor Annise Parker and approved on a 14-1 vote, contend that strip clubs should shoulder some of the costs of rape investigations because the establishments can cultivate unhealthy attitudes toward women that can lead to sexual assaults.

IÂ’ve got an idea, how about a huge per ton tax on newspaper newsprint.

15 The charge that the Obama administration coordinated with the health-care industry in 2009 — during the Obamacare fight — to send a good chunk of business to the consulting firm founded by presidential adviser David Axelrod has resurfaced in the news media, with the House Energy and Commerce Committee recently releasing a barrage of emails showing communications between the administration and the industry sent ahead of the push for Obama’s health care overhaul.

The WH says its “old” news.  Of course thanks to the MFM we have never heard about it. DonÂ’t worry though, its just more crony corruption from the most crooked regime in the history of the United States.

To me media and hollywood are tied at the hip, and virtually the same thing, now.

45 Most people hate the healthcare scam because contrary to all the lies published by the MFM 85% of the population had coverage and a large part of the ones that didn't were yoots that really didn't want it or need it.

So the liars elevated the numbers by including them and illegal aliens.  What has happened since they passed the BS bill is the premiums that people were paying went through the roof and their coverage went down.

Any poll that doesn't reflect that people don't like that is bull shit,

46 /Longhorns, I was once told it was the biggest university in America.

Texas college hacks government drone
scientists at an Austin, Texas college
A group of researchers led by Professor Todd Humphreys from the University of Texas at Austin Radio Navigation Laboratory took control of an unmanned aerial vehicle operated by the US Department of Homeland Security. After being challenged by his lab, the DHS dared HumphreysÂ’ crew to hack into their drone and take command. Much to their chagrin, they did exactly that.

“Spoofing a GPS receiver on a UAV is just another way of hijacking a plane,” Humphreys tells Fox. "In five or ten years you have 30,000 drones in the airspace. Each one of these could be a potential missile used against us.”
...domestic drones are likely to use the same unencrypted GPS signals provided to civilians, allowing seemingly anyone with $1,000 and the right research to hack into the system and harness a UAV for their own personal use. “What if you could take down one of these drones delivering FedEx packages and use that as your missile?” Humphreys asks. “That’s the same mentality the 9-11 attackers had.”

47 Other cases today: Don’t expect the justices to announce the health-care ruling as soon as they take the bench at 10 a.m. The court has three cases left to decide and it will very likely announce the other two decisions first. In one of those cases, the court will decide whether Congress violated the First Amendment when it made it a crime to lie about receiving a military medal. The other case involves title-insurance referrals and First American Financial Corp. The case has been pending for an unusually long time – the justices heard arguments last November. The issues are a bit technical, but the court’s ruling could have important implications for consumers’ access to the court system. h/t wsj

Howdy, 'rons and 'ronettes.  And now we play the waiting game.  Like I said yesterday, I don't think SCOTUS will touch the SCOAMF's baby.  Neither do I think Mitt - despite his tough talk - has the stones to blow it up.  But then, I'm always expecting the worst.

So on to the classic Hollywood news you all love. . .

Today in 1927, Greta Garbo renewed her contract with MGM at $5000 per week.  Already championed by Louis B. Mayer since he saw her in the Swedish film The Saga of Gosta Berling, her first American silent, Torrent, quickly made her the most talked-about actress in Hollywood (not least because of her sphinx-like reserve), but it was 1927's Flesh and the Devil, co-starring with John Gilbert, that made her an international sensation.  Retiring from the screen in 1941, her last time in front of a camera was in 1949, when she made screen tests for an untitled movie based on Balzac's La Duchesse de Langeais, but financing fell through and the movie was cancelled.  She died in 1990.

And here's a Garbo story:  when the English playwright, songwriter and actor Ivor Novello came to Hollywood in the 1930s, he was asked if there was any special thing he wanted.  Yes, he did - he wanted to meet Garbo.  The director George Cukor agreed, but with one condition: "At the moment, she does not want to be known as Garbo.  You must live with the fiction that she is Harriet Brown."  Novello agreed.  After being introduced to "Miss Brown," the two of them got on wonderfully together, chatting about the friends they had in common.  Equally charmed, Novello and Garbo met again and then a third time.  During that third meeting, Novello suddenly got a serious look on his face and leaned in close to Garbo.  "Miss Brown," he asked, "now that we know each other so well, do you think I might call you Harriet?"

I said it was a story.  I didn't say it was a good one.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.  Thanks for the news roundup, Gabe and Vic.

Considering that access to hard-core porn has become just a URL away for the majority of people in this country, shouldn't the theory behind that Houston law mean rape stats should be through the roof?

As far as I can tell from what info I can find, rape incidence is either static or in slow decline. It may be way, way down compared to earlier periods before the era where every female character on TV was required to be raped at some point as a form of PSA.

We really need states to adopt laws requiring a standard of proof before people are hit up for money on the believe they MIGHT show a greater incidence of bad behavior.

Naw, Spy Magazine revealed the real reason for the cast changes over the years. Steve Douglas was a serial killer preying on his own family.

The explanation for the disappearance of Bub was that he'd gone off to Ireland to deal with his ailing mother. Really? A man of his advanced age had a living mother? The improbabilities stacked up. Very convincing article. Even covered the move to Southern California when the cops started getting suspicious in their original setting.

When the SCOTUS members are so twisted that they can't see past their own noses to read and judge according to LAW, they rule by bias, whim and prejudice.

Liberty.
Ours.

87 The interesting thing about My Three Sons? Fred MacMurray. He didn't want the daily grind of a TV series, so they would film all his scenes during one block of filming for the whole season. A few weeks of work and he's off, and the rest of the cast stays on and films the other stuff for the rest of the season.

OK.  I'm going to be lurking most of the day, mainly because I don't have the intellectual chops to go head to head on policy matters with the Horde.  So apologies if this has been asked, but I'm hoping one of you will put me some knowledge:

If SCOTUS shuts down Obamacare - or even parts of it - what would stop the jug-eared crackhead from ignoring them and using an executive order to force it down the country's throat?

89 The Stolen Valor law is probably toast. I can not fathom why they would consider it a free speech issue, but I don't see Congress having the authority to legislate in that area either.

Of course, it probably is some kind of interstate commerce or part of "necessary and proper" if it was about "stealing commies".

Exactly; and it would give Boehner the wherewithal to shut down every fucking penny of spending on it, which he should do anyway but....

93 Judicial activism properly refers to how a judge interprets the law, rather than the subjective desirability of the outcome of a case. It occurs when judges write subjective policy preferences into their decisions rather than interpreting the constitutional or statutory provisions according to the lawÂ’s original meaning or plain text. --- a.k.a. Outcome Based Judiciary

97 @91 - I am currently unconvinced that Boehner would take any concrete steps against Obama if the little scum decided to burn the Constitution live on MSNBC.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell last week, government data showed on Thursday, but remained too high to signal any major improvement in the labor market.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell 6,000 to a seasonally adjusted 386,000, the Labor Department said. The prior week's figure was revised up to 392,000 from the previously reported 387,000.

This week down 6,000 last week revised up 5,000. This week must be Barry's and last week is all Bush's fault. Rinse and repeat for every week

102 Don't be a dumbass. Yes, I miss Bush compared to Obama, if he was in office the entire ruling wouldn't have been necessary.
