— Gabriel Malor Happy Wednesday.
No news from me this morning. If you're interested, Hans Zimmer's entire Dark Knight Rises OST is available for listening here. It goes on sale on July 16. I still find myself listening to the Dark Knight.

Because nothing is ever done from a base of principle.
It's all about gaining advantage over rivals.
You don't hear much from the left about Gitmo, rendition, or any of the other made up nonsense and outrages when Bush was President.

1) No one truly owns their home so the faster you realize that the better
2) Not knowing the full story, I have to assume this was long process and the homeowner had ample opportunity to come to an accomodation.
3) We need a movement to decouple the funding of local government and municipalities from home ownership so that a homeowner can literally be a homeowner.

I figure it's a bad scandal and he's hiding out hoping to make it until the election. And I figure Durbin saying something means that whatever it is, it will hurt democrats in general and this was a hint that he should resign.
What could the scandal be? My guess is it is more than bribes or an illegitimate child, as we have seen that those things don't bother democrats.
So, it has to be something really big, like selling arms to Syria or child molesting or something like that.

Be careful with that wish. They did that here too. The problem is they did not get rid of property tax, they just added on a lot of new sales taxes to "keep property tax from going up higher".
The sales tax over in that little Podunk town < 7K is now 10.5%. Its 8.5% in the county. And property taxes are still 4 times higher than they were when I first bought my house 31 years ago.

Good morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. Was offline for a few days, so no Hollywood stories. Hope you missed me. If not, don't tell me; my ego is flimsier than one of Ace's alibis after a weekend of hobo-skinning.
I'm in Massachusetts, so of course, smoking is banned here. At times I wish Philip Morris would play hardball and just say to every community that bans smoking: "OK, you don't want people to use our LEGAL product? Fine. As of this moment, we are pulling all cigarettes from your shelves and will not provide them to you any more." Then sit back and watch the states howl as that sweet, sweet tax money dries up.
Hell, since I'm wishing, why don't I wish that Romney's campaign would agree to release 20-odd years of tax returns AFTER the dog-eating retard releases his certificate of live birth, his academic transcripts, his real SS number and so on. Just shove this 'transparency' crap right down his throat.
Oh, well. Sorry about that. Coming back on line and catching up on news after nearly a week gives me agita. So here's a John Barrymore story:
At one point, Barrymore was making a movie in which a monkey also appeared, and he took a liking to her. He called the chimp's trainer and said he would like to buy the monkey and keep her as a pet. "How much do you make, Mr. Barrymore?" the trainer asked. "I make $3000 a week," the great man answered.
"Well, she likes you, too," said the monkey's trainer, "and she makes $5000 a week. She'd like to buy you."
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

When I first bought my house (I am out in the county) property tax was $200/year and sales tax was 3%. Property tax is now $1,000/year and sales tax is 8.5%.
What I find amazing is that they NEVER talk about decreasing spending to balance the books. I don't think a year has gone by that they haven't raised taxes. Last year I paid $100 taxes for my 14 year old F-150. If I was in neighboring GA it would be tag fees only because the taxes would be so low they would be noncollectable.

Understood, but the people are the government.
Unfortunately we seed too much control and authority to "the government"
be it state, local or federal.
When they say, hey we are going to raise your sales tax, we should say emphatically, NO!!!
When they say you can't smoke in this place or that place, we should say in a full scream, NO!
We just acquiesce to their designs and schemes because they are "the government"

The last big sales tax increase we had (2 cents) went down like this. The school board wanted to sell bonds for "new construction" and raise taxes by 2 cents.
Because it involved bond sales they had to put it to the voters. It was defeated by a wide margin in the normal Nov election. Not to be deterred they held a "special election 3 months later and gave all county employees the day off so they could vote. They also didn't pass a lot of word about the vote.
It passed 600 to 300 in a county with 70,000 people.
So 600 county employees got us a 2% sales tax increase. But it was for the chilluns.

I feel your pain. I live in a modest 1600 sq. ft. house, no swimming pool or other fancy accoutrements, and my property taxes are about $2200. Sales tax is now 6%. The property taxes are down - before the bubble burst they were upward of $2400.
Part of the problem is that they've convinced the locals that the only way to preserve property values is to max out school spending. All too often the locals agree to buy things that are not needed. They recently build a palace-like high school, claiming that the old one was unmaintainable due to being built on swamp land. Guess what - as soon as the new high school was built, old "unmaintainable" high school building was made into a middle school and is still used.
Grrrrr....

This is a distressingly common practice throughout the nation. This kind of bull crap should be banned in every state. And when it is accomplished, some local patriots should find out who the main culprits are, and publish their pictures and addresses (and phone numbers if possible) in the local rag sheet and on line. Do that a few times and these petty tyrants will think twice.

Yep. Been this way for a long time. Not only that, the State Dept does not have to accept your renunciation of citizenship should you choose to move away forever. They can decide that you're just too damn rich to lose, and demand that you pay tax no matter where you go. And most nations will just go along with it.
The only thing that moderates this somewhat is that you take a credit for foreign taxes paid. But there's no escape from the US tax rate.
While this irks me, what bothers me way more is that the US is one of the few nations that does damn little to help its citizens when they are over seas. Even rinky dink nations like Norway or Finland will go to great lengths to help their own people when they are in trouble over seas. Uncle Sam says "Why are you bothering me peasant? Go get yourself out of trouble. You're making my job of kissing the local potentate's ass a lot harder. Piss off."

The muslims bring death and horror to EVERY SINGLE PLACE that they live, without even 1 exception. They are the slime of humanity, and yet we tolerate them. As I have repeatedly said, the constitution should be altered to strip those people of all rights. America should be wholly rid of them.

Most of the trouble in the US comes from what I like to call "the damn do-gooders." These are the mommy-state people. Most are libtards, but sadly there are many on the Right who fall into this camp. Moralizers.
I say, if you want people to act like Christians, spread the gospel. Don't try to pass laws to make people good. Convince them to be good. Instead we have nonsense like the temperance movements, drug bans, FDA approval for everything under the sun (they'd NEVER allow asprin on the market as an OTC if it were invented today). Seat belt laws, helment laws, health insurance mandates, etc. etc. etc. It is all the fault of the do-gooders.

We located here originally for the low taxes. After the 1980 economy slumps before the dot.com bang, during the massive building boom gone bust given the epic derivative scam and global economic fail permeating the globe, our local ISD originally kept focus on low taxes by building the functional architectural strategically located schools keeping up with the region's population boom, but not overextending expectations of growth. But given the huge influx of new taxpayers, the big bucks went to the School Boards' heads. And of course they determined to line their pockets and their friends' pockets with contracts and kickbacks. One high school was designed to resemble an architectural "temple" as if to inspire the students to study more. That affluent neighborhood school's scores are lower than the other high schools of normal appearance. It's pedestrian but "authentic" locally manufactured/installed light fixtures in the hallways cost $300. each though they match what utilitarian designs you find at Home Depot. Easy come, easy go. Needless to say, there's a budget short fall now and a huge debt growing with interest which rising taxes won't cover.

The K-12 free daycare/sports camp back in my hometown in Iowa had to build a third gym because they couldn't schedule all the students into their federally-mandated 300 minutes of phys ed per week in the two existing gyms. 85% of kids grades 7-12 participate in interscholastic athletics--they're already getting more than 300 minutes of activity every week. But some dipshits in Washington got all "ZOMG! FATTIES!" and passed an unfunded mandate.
That's 300 minutes they're not in a classroom, btw, and you know they're going to cut into the reading/writing/math time, not the Social Justice or Sex Ed or Gaia Worship time.

Way overdue, in my opinion. But then there are always the soft-hearts who think that the best time to take action is when the enemy already has hit boot on your throat.
Well, look at Europe. Cities already have muslim no-go zones across the continent. They systemically rape the local, native, non-muz women. 100% of the recent increase in rapes in Sweden, for example, has been by the muz, and that rise has been massive. We now have what is nearly a muz no-go zone here in Dearbornistan, in Michigan. The cops allowed Christians, who were doing nothing illegal, to be stoned and beaten with no response at all other than to tell the Christians that THEY were the problem.
Muz are devoid of worth. They contribute zero. Zilch. The few that simply call themselves muslims, yet act decently, would be killed by their own kind for apostacy.
If the world woke up tomorrow and aliens had taken all the muz, no one remaining here would miss them. At all.

DNA From Chains Used By Occupy Wall Street Protest Linked To 2004 Murder CaseÂ…
Officials have linked forensic evidence from the 2004 murder scene of a 21-year-old Juilliard student to the scene of a recent Occupy Wall Street subway protest, NBC 4 New York has learned.
...
[Sarah] Fox was found nude and strangled in the park in May 2004, days after she disappeared during a daytime jog. Investigators recovered her pink CD player in the woods just yards from her body.
Sources said Tuesday the DNA found on the CD player matches DNA found on a chain left by Occupy Wall Street protesters at the Beverly Road subway station in East Flatbush on March 28, 2012...

If there were any Muslim hospitals, the Muslims might not have been exempted. The point of the thing is to control medicine in all its aspects. You can't allow another entity (Religious Group) to provide medicinal care when your goal is 100 percent government ownership.

I believe we will see a cottage industry rise with Muslims as nominal heads of small businesses, so that the law can be skirted. Also, does the law exempt non-Muslim employers from having to pay a fine for non-coverage of Muslim employees? That would give Muslims a leg up in some industries (hospitality, especially).

It is not just Catholic hospitals that Sebelius is trying to force into paying for things against their religious beliefs, it is all Catholic institutions that provide group insurance for their employees.
It is a slippery slope to exempt any religion from a set of laws and regulations while forcing other religious groups to comply.

Questions over whether Fed did enough over Libor concerns
Then-New York Federal Reserve chairman Tim Geithner calendar included 'Fixing LIBOR' meeting in 2008
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York may have known as early as August 2007 that the setting of global benchmark interest rates was flawed.
Following an inquiry with British banking group Barclays Plc in the spring of 2008, it shared proposals for reform of the system with British authorities.
The role of the Fed is likely to raise questions about whether it and other authorities took enough action to address concerns they had about the way Libor rates were set, or whether their struggle to keep the banking system afloat through the financial crisis meant the issue took a backseat.

The effort will be made to fan the flames of dissatisfaction. It begins with trolls, and in a day or two you see articles about "Republican doubts" and "GOP anger at Romney campaign."
I suggest that perhaps all of our print and talk people try to dial things down a bit instead of acting like Romney doesn't know what he's doing. It might also be helpful if they took the time to point out things that would anger Americans at Obama, like the Muslim exemption. Of course, if their most important goal is to prove that they are smarter than Romney and always right, even if we lose the election, then I guess they will keep it up.

Yeah - I guess you're right. Better to just practice a never-ending policy of containment - eternal warfare. Fend them off, with minimal force, allowing them to spread the faith in the US (especially in all the prisons, and in the military). Until, of course, they catch up and figure out a way to end us. That's the end-game, if there ever IS an end to the global misery that those people generate. No matter what we do, Iran will have nukes sooner or later. Then more will have them. And somebody is going to start leaking them. One day a cargo ship is going to sail into the harbor of a major US city, and then that city will burn.
We are incredibly spoiled here in the US, because the muz are so few. We are not constantly victimized by them - yet. The Europeans are not so lucky, and even their leftist press is hard pressed to keep a lid on the stories of near-daily attrocities.

Well, sort of. We do have an idea of what they think it should be, at least for starters, in the form of Obama’s raise-taxes-on-the-rich proposal. Part of his usual argument for raising taxes on the rich is that we’ve been going down the wrong path for the past three decades — which is shorthand for: since Ronald Reagan was elected and sharply lowered marginal income-tax rates.
Conveniently, the CBOÂ’s report includes data going all the way back to 1979. So, how did things change over the course of 30 years?
One of the ways the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (or OECD, the Paris-based club of industrialized nations) measures tax-code progressivity is by calculating the ratio of the tax burden to income earned for each income group. For example, if one quintile earns 20% of the income and pays 10% of the taxes, its ratio would be 10/20, or 0.50. The higher the ratios for the upper-income groups, and the lower the ratios for the lower-income groups, the more progressive the tax code. By this measure, the OECD has determined the U.S. has the most progressive tax code in the industrialized world.

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. Matt6:24
Give unto Obama bloody lucre and Obama will sacrifice your body to that same master, no distinction between God as Money. Obama just wants to "help" by playing Allah to remove free will.
"How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how are you cut down to the ground, who did weaken the nations! You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High. Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: 'Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble, the man who made the world a desert, who overthrew its cities and would not let his captives go home?' All the kings of the nations lie in state, each in his own tomb. But you are cast out of your tomb like a rejected branch; you are covered with the slain, with those pierced by the sword, those who descend to the stones of the pit. Like a corpse trampled underfoot, you will not join them in burial, for you have destroyed your land and killed your people." Isaiah 14:12-20

Speaking before the NAACP, Attorney General Eric Holder departed from his prepared speech on Tuesday, decrying voter ID laws, that have been proposed in 10 states so far. Talking Points Memo reports:
"Under the proposed law, concealed handgun licenses would be acceptable forms of photo ID, but student IDs would not," Holder said. "Many of those without IDs would have to travel great distances to get them, and some would struggle to pay for the documents they might need to obtain them. We call those poll taxes."
Holder isn't the first to say such laws are racist. Benjamin Todd Jealous, CEO and president of the NCAAP, evoked the civil rights movement Monday, comparing the moment to "Selma and Montgomery times."If this were an Attorney General appointed by a Republican the MFM would be screaming about politicizing the office and demanding that he resign. But because he's a race baiting clown who loves to stomp all over the law the MFM has no problem with him. And how in the hell is showing an ID to vote racist?

Exclusive: Darpa Gets a New Boss, and Solyndra Is in Her Past
Until last year, Arati Prabhakar worked for the venture capitalists who backed Solyndra, the green-tech firm that imploded in a scandal described by Mitt Romney as an example of the White House’s ”crony capitalism.” Now Prabhakar has a new job, this one in the Obama administration: running the Pentagon’s most important research agency. But being the geek-in-chief requires investing billions on risky, high-tech bets that aren’t so different from Solyndra.

The "keeping his powder dry" reticence to address America at large with his potus platform is that he's reached a point beyond his experience, to address all of America rather than one contingency at a time. Compound that with his own indecision as to his platform, and from there, how to sell all his eggs from his own basket.
He's had years to go figure since determining to campaign for POTUS. It's one thing to have been pliable en route to reaching determination; another to be indecisive in doubt.

Opponents of requiring ID to vote believe black people are too stupid and/or lazy to obtain a photo ID; thus, those of us who believe otherwise are racists.

NAACP lives for identity politics. Somebody needs to tell the NAACP that the influx of illegal immigrants is going to replace black politicians with hispanic ones. Thats what nearly happened to Charlie Rangel, what has been happening in Texas.

DNA evidence from the scene of Sarah Fox's murder in Inwood Hill Park eight years ago has been connected to DNA from a chain left in a subway station by Occupy protesters in March, NBC 4 New York first reported Tuesday.
Fox was found nude and strangled in the park in May 2004, days after she disappeared during a daytime jog. Investigators recovered her pink CD player in the woods just yards from her body.
Sources said Tuesday the DNA found on the CD player matches DNA found on a chain left by Occupy Wall Street protesters at the Beverly Road subway station in East Flatbush on March 28, 2012.

Nope, the angst and hoopla about Voter ID is about fraud and nothing but fraud, because getting enough fake IDs for a cadre of miscreants to cast fraudulent votes all over a major metropolitan city is a big damn hassle.
How in hell you gonna make sure the correct aldermen, councilors, and Congress Critters get elected if you damn snippy verifiers are gonna bitch up the process?

I like some country, but it tends to be the less "rocky" stuff, if that makes sense. So for example, I like some Hank Sr., but can't think of anything Hank Jr. did that I like. And it's certainly not about the politics, just the style.

I like folks like Lyle Lovett, Ricky Skaggs, and Jason Aldean, sorta fringe country, IMO. I really liked CDB when that band was more Southern rock and sounded like the Allman Bros back in the '70's.
Talk about a genre that's changed a lot over the past 20 years or so, Jason Aldean, if you took his vocals and guitar out of the mix, would sound like a heavy metal band, at least to me.

For the second summer in a row, my backyard is being colonized by hornets the size of hummingbirds who are building underground nests just outside the back door. Been using a foam insecticide on them. I do not care where in the food chain they are. I am allergic to wasp stings and have no desire to find out what a sting from one of these monsters would do to me. So it is all genocide all the time on the in-ground hornets.

You're all for an aggressive response to the Muslim expansionist Tendencies?
Excellent. Because they have a proven aggressive response towards YOU as a non-muslim.
With that said, I also object to the use of the word "genocide".
However, we are in a fight to the Death.
There are no other Religions that call for the death of those who do not believe as they do.
How do you reconcile this?
Posted by: USMC8541 at July 11, 2012 06:56 AM (v3pYe)
I have no need to reconcile Muslims' desire to kill me with my desire to keep them from killing me.
Muslims are entitled to ruin their own third-world shitholes. They can continue to kill each other for the next 10,000 years. I don't care. But when they try to kill me or members of my society then we have a moral imperative to kick the shit out of them and drive them back to their third-world cesspits.
Notice...I did not say, "we should kill all of them."

“I have already called for a one-year extension of all of the current income tax rates.
“Today, I’ll go further by asking for consent that we set up two votes in the Senate.
“One on the President’s proposal to raise taxes on nearly one million business owners in the middle of the worst economic recovery in modern times, and one that would extend current income tax rates for one year and task the Finance Committee to produce a bill that would enact fundamental, pro-growth tax reform.
“The Senate should make itself clear which policy it supports. This is our chance to do it.

"I have no need to reconcile Muslims' desire to kill me with my desire to keep them from killing me."
-ok, this is a tough one for me; "The purpose of War is to destroy the Enemy and his ability to wage war" This Tenet was taught to me all my young adult, Military life. And, although I am no longer young, the Tenet remains instilled in my basic conscious thought processes.
"But when they try to kill me or members of my society then we have a moral imperative to kick the shit out of them and drive them back to their third-world cesspits."
They have Already begun killing members of your (and my) society.
