— Gabriel Malor Happy Monday.
I got off the plane last night to find that a few people on blogs, twitter, and radio had been calling for Romney to go on offense, both in general and over the President's Bain trutherism in particular. Now, I'd generally been keeping an eye on politics while I was on vacation, so this seemed like a new attack on Romney from supposed allies and a peculiarly silly one. There are a few responses.
First, Romney has obviously been on offense. The campaign has been laudably focused on hitting the President where it hurts him most with voters: the economy. The same hard-hitting message discipline that laid his primary opponents low has kept the President's numbers static for a month, despite Obama's giant, largely unanswered, ad blitz. For two months running, Obama has spent more money attacking Romney than he's raised and it hasn't helped Obama's poll numbers.
Part of that is the phenomenally fast response team Romney and the RNC have put together. They're out ahead of Obama on almost every issue that matters to voters and when the latest distraction from Team Obama arises (gay marriage, DREAM, Bain) they're on top of it with outreach to media, bloggers, and directly to voters. The Romney campaign is doing a great job compared to the other side.
When it comes to the Bain trutherism, Romney pushed back hard last week, with multiple interviews, several surrogates striking back, and coordinated outreach to media and bloggers pointing out that Obama has been the Outsourcer-in-Chief. So the myth being peddled that Romney isn't or wasn't on offense doesn't even have the ring of truth.
Second, to the extent that being "on offense" is being equated with running expensive attack ads like the President is doing, there is no conceivable point. Obama's numbers are not on the rise. He's spending millions for no point. It would be one thing if the Bain trutherism were taking a toll on Romney or pumping up Obama's numbers. But the President's national approval numbers have been basically unchanged for a month. A majority of voters have never heard of Bain and likely won't.
The Romney campaign is doing the smart thing and holding fire until it really counts: the last eight weeks of the campaign. It would be one thing if it looked like the President's campaign was getting traction. But so long as it's not, Romney needs to stick with the plan: focus on the issue that matters most to voters, the economy. Blowing his campaign cash now would be pointlessly premature.
The "go on offense" freakout seems at root to be a crisis of confidence. Yes, it's frustrating that the President is a lying liar who makes stupid irrelevant lies about our candidate. But that's no reason to go off half-cocked and waste a lot of effort for little return. The Romney response to the Bain trutherism has been appropriate. Engaging any more on that ground would be just what Obama wants.
It's quite simple. The Democrats have nothing else to run on. Obama would be more than happy to make the rest of the campaign, all four months, be about Romney and Bain. I don't see any benefit to indulging him in that.

<i>" Obama would be more than happy to make the rest of the campaign, all four months, be about Romney and Bain. I don't see any benefit to indulging him in that. "</i>
But you ARE indulging him in that, as long as he gets to set the agenda for the day's conversation. And he is. By "go on the attack", people mean, "Make Obama respond to US", don't let him sally forth every day to 'tell his story'. HE should be the one responding to accusations; instead, he's being allowed to vent noxious fumes into the air, then everyone turns expectantly to Romney: "Well, what do you have to say to THAT?" That's not the way to win. It makes Romney look like a leashed animal, trotting wherever the master decides to lead him. It doesn't matter what Obama is saying, whether it's true or catchy or clever or anything. What matters is that he still looks like he's in charge, and THAT'S the perception that must be changed first and foremost. If Romney can change that, then he can criticize what Obama ate for breakfast in the morning and look and sound like he's a winner.

Yes - this, exactly. Thank you. This has to be continually repeated to the Eeyors. Everything going on right now is the skirmishing before the main battle lines hit. Happily Obastard, fool that he is, is already in the process of exhausting his forces, charging with too great a distance to cover. In the last few weeks when the know-nothing indies decide they better catch themselves up on the "current events" our side will be ready to hammer and hammer.

The 'go on offense' freakout seems to be at root a crisis of confidence.
Spot on, Gabe. It's also, if I may add, shell-shock from McStain's piss-poor excuse of a campaign. We're expecting the GOP to fold; we know they're a bunch of gutless pricks who would whore out their own daughters before giving up on their precious 'comity.' So when the SCOAMF lies and we don't see a Mornon-strength pushback from Romney - "listen, you dog-eating retard, you couldn't even spell 'Bain' if I spotted you the B, the A and the N and let you pick a vowel." - we see 2008 all over again.
I hope you're right and that Romney will blast the jug-eared crackhead with both barrels come October. It's just that we still hear that "my friends, you have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency" hiss and it still chills us.
Today is the birthday of Mary Philbin and Barbara Stanwyck. I'm tied up at the moment, but I'll try to dig out a Stanwyck story in the next hour.
Later, 'rons and 'ronettes.

Sometimes I hate when I agree with Gabe. This is one of those times.
Obama excels at frustrating opponents (when he's not actively trying to keep them off the ballot) and goading them into pointless and diversionary arguments. Let Obama keep trying to change the subject, because the subject for the voters will always return to "why doesn't Daddy have a job yet...?"

I'm not too anxious to interrupt Otard during his latest round of dancing on his own dick wearing golf cleats. By all means, continue to insult and infuriate every business owner in the country with this idea that all their personal sacrifice and hard work means nothing. That all the 7-day workweeks, the years without vacations or even paying yourself a salary so you can make payroll - all of that is meaningless. Because it was your government that allowed you to succeed. PLEASE let this motherfucker continue for as long as he wants.

1. In response to the president's refusal to apologize, he pointed out that the entire thing is an attempt to distract from Obama's terrible record on jobs.
2. On Rahm saying he should quit whining, he said when someone falsely accuses you of a crime, you get a bit upset. He is proubd of his ethical business record
3. On business in general, he pointed out the forgiveness of government loans to political donors (Solyndra, etc.) stinks to high heaven.
4. On transparency, he pointed out the executive orders regarding Fast and Furious, which he said was unprecedented and something else (maybe suspicious).
So, he used the openings Obama gave him to talk about Obama's terrible jobs record, the fake accusations and his own excellent ethical record, the graft and corruption with companies like Solyndra, and the White House involvement in Fast and Furious.
Still, the Eeyores will be complaining, I imagine.

It's that but not just from Romney. I know that for me a part of it lies in the utter hair pulling frustration that Pres. Bush refused to push back on all the lies told about him. Add to that the concern that conservatives have that Romney is only giving lip service to the notion that conservative ideas should be implemented then top that with the Dread Justice Roberts and it all combines to a toxic mix of oh no here we go again.

I agree with the principle, but there are limited resources. Romney can't buy an unlimited amount of air time. Nor can he hope to hold the attention span of the feeble minded low-info voter that determines the election for more than a short time.
We all like a butt-kicking offense because it feels great, and it's effective. But we can't wear down too early. There has to be enough budget for an all out blitz toward the end. We have to hammer the most damaging stuff home late in the game, so that Obie has no time to react. You can bet the enemy is holding something back for the end to slime Romney with - we need to be doing the same.

I beg to disagree. Trump was 100% correct in his argument that Obingo should put out his college transcripts AND applications before Romney meets any demands for voluntary documents from him. Trump knows that those papers show him claiming to be a foreign exchange student.
Trump was correct on the BC issue, and forced him to put out a forged BC (again).
Trump may be a little blunt and a little misinformed on things, but nowhere near as stupid as the other side. Shutting up so you don't make waves among the stupid isn't a good policy.

He talks, people point and laugh. He will not sway a single vote, he will not move poll numbers and the only part about him that's an asset to the conservative cause is his checkbook. Period.

Was forced to watch NBC News last night, when gave prime reporting space to sucking Bark Obama's toes and sniping at Romney. Mainstream newspapers are doing likewise, as President Historic First's© campaign says "fuck no, we won't apologize!"
Every time SCoaMF's minions slap Romney and he replies with "but...but...Obama is bein' mean!" we lose votes, IMO.
We can't win with tepid "responses." It's time to go full-tilt nuclear on the Traitor-in-Chief, demanding the release of everything from his old passport records to his ties to terrorists, felons and America-haters.
In short, we have to demand -- incessantly -- that Obama plays by the same rules he expects Romney to follow.

I think this misses the point. It's been past time to got "full-tilt nuclear" on the SCOAMT for a while now. For the Conservative Media. Let blogs and right-leaning news agencies (which are, admittedly, few and far between) throw bombs at Obama. Let Romney remain aloof and "on message."
Then, in the last few weeks of the campaign (Gabe says 8, I think it's more like 12) Romney can bring out his own big guns.
It's easy to forget, and we have to remind ourselves, that most people aren't paying attention. Even most people who "take the New York Times" aren't reading it for anything but the Style section, the Funnies, and the crossword puzzle (which they complete, if at all, in pencil, then go over in Pen to "prove" how smart they are). Hmm. No Barbara Stanwyck stories right to hand, so many apologies. Instead, let me offer some viewing selections:
Mary Philbin (born 1903) is best known for her role as Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera (1925), playing opposite the great Lon Chaney. When the movie was dubbed for sound, she did her own voice, but her talkie career was, for all intents and purposes, nonexistent. A lifelong spinster, she was also a recluse after leaving films; one of her few public appearances was at the LA premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom.
The gorgeous Barbara Stanwyck (born Ruby Stevens, 1907), was a Ziegfled Girl during the 1922-23 seasons. She's best known for Double Indemnity, Sorry, Wrong Number and The Lady Eve, but I prefer her in the pre-Code movie Baby Face (get the uncut version released by TCM in their "Forbidden Hollywood" series of DVDs) and with Gary Cooper in the modern-dress retelling of "Snow White," Ball of Fire.

It's worse than worthless, if you expect positive results. What Romney ads do right now is make the President play defense. Realize, the sitting President does not normally start active campaigning until right around the Convention.
Now, the SCOAMT has been on a years-long campaign anyway, which should surprise precisely no one who reads this blog, but the fact is he has to be campaigning right now. He doesn't have a choice. He can't wait until after the DNC. And that means he's more vulnerable than he looks at the moment. Since the only people really paying attention are those who pay attention all the time, the only people BHO is "reaching" with his advertising is his own base- whose support he shouldn't have to be ginning up.
I think the reason we're not seeing a huge number of Romney ads, even in battle ground states (though they are on the air- I just don't think they're being carpet bombed, yet) is that Romney doesn't need to kick it into overdrive yet. He just wants to get his name out there, and knows that will be enough to force the President to respond.

Just as Egyptian officers are frequently trained abroad, often in the USA Military Institutions, the "Arab Spring" Islamists also were trained abroad in Western institutions of higher education, and of course, in the ways of secret service.
It was never "Mubarak" to be removed, but the entire Egyptian Military stabilization of the region. If Hillary/Obama presumed that by removing Mubarak, the entire Egyptian Military would fold like a house of cards, it would not be the first time she's been absolutely wrong. Their current new President is from that same Military Regime formerly governed by Mubarak.
To lose the sanity factor that Egypt provided its Arab neighbors, and its own indigenous complexion of multiple religions, will bring no good. (#5 above)
Radical Islamists are not the only ones ranting to rule the world. It won't benefit Peace or America to feed Islamist's rabid Cerberus, whether the House of Saud Sunni Brotherhood or their counterpart in Syria or Tehran.
"The 'go on offense' freakout seems at root to be a crisis of confidence."
Then again, "the best defense is a good offense." Romney does not need to fund commercials in order to cut to the chase with one liners that catch on and spread of their own impulse. With facts, cut the MSM to the quick, down to size. The truth hurts cutting both ways on the razor's edge. Whittle Obama agenda to his core; it's rot. And what Romney offers instead must not require or enable the downfall of Syria to the House of Saud, bringing the US Military to war against Russia and China. If Netanyahu is advising Romney to take down Syria, what has Condi to advise in this current 'go on offense' international freakout? What is the Republican 2012 platform agenda on the Middle East if not more Bush "Doctrine"?

"I get what you are saying, but blaming Bush (or McCain) for the current political climate doesn't make any more sense when we do it."
Oh I didn't say it made sense, it's simply the wellspring for the arrrggghhhh factor. It's not precisely unheard of for the RNC and the Republican candidate to roll over and play dead. As a result, any possible maybe sort of kind of indication of that tends to press the now is the perfect time to panic button.
"I think the reason we're not seeing a huge number of Romney ads, even in battle ground states (though they are on the air- I just don't think they're being carpet bombed, yet)"
It sure as hell feels like I'm being carpet bombed. I will say that I'm seeing probably 50/50 Obama and Romney bumper stickers. I've only seen one Obama lawn sign and no Romney ones yet.

For most of the week, gas in NM was about $3.09/gal (if you didn't go to the stations catering specifically to tourists, where it was generally about 10 cents higher). Then, on Thursday, the price jumped by about 15 cents. Did I miss another illegal war or something?

An "Obama 2008" sticker I can understand. Those folks were gullible, hopeful, wanted the see the black dude do well. They were wrong, I'd knew they'd be wrong, but sometimes you gotta get burned once to learn.
But at this point in time, "Obama 2012" stickers are a whole 'nother matter. It's nothing more than a sign you don't read the papers and don't understand economics. "Willful ignorance" is not an attractive trait. Pick a metric, any metric GDP, unemployment, foreclosures, etc. etc. etc., you name it, and Obama is the worst President ever. If anyone is voting for him at this point they're either mind-numbingly stupid (likely), or picking him based on the color of his skin. In which case they'd be racists.

Really nice. Though I'll say the ER in Alamogordo needs a hefty dose of professionalism and efficiency. Other than that: highs in the high 70s, rain every day but one (usually for about 15 - 20 minutes), fun with family at White Sands National Monument and Carlsbad Caverns. A great time all around (well, except the ER experience).

My daughter (3, next week) has had Nursemaids Elbow (for those unfamiliar- as I was- this is a "minor dislocation" of the elbow common in infants and toddlers) in the past. Actually, the only time she had it was a time she was throwing a fit while I was holding her hand and managed to pop her own elbow out of joint. That was about a year ago.
Sunday evening, we were in the Alamogordo Walmart picking up a few things. My parents were off in one section of the store with my son, while my wife, daughter, brother and I were in a different section of the store. Brother was watching Daughter, and she tried to run off. He grabbed her, she pulled harder, he heard a "pop" and she started screaming bloody murder.
We immediately concluded Nursemaids Elbow again, since it was the same arm, and if it's happened once its more likely to happen again. So we drove to the hospital.
The entire stay- that evening- is worthy of its own post. Short version: they didn't fix it, and they wanted us to come back the next morning if it didn't get better on its own. It didn't. So we got to go back to the ER the next day. That visit, too, is worthy of its own post. Short version: they still didn't fix it.
On the up-side, it turns out not to have been Nursemaids Elbow, she probably just strained or sprained it, because a couple of days later it was better all on its own. On the down side, I'm now responsible for a couple of ER visits with less-than-confidence-inspiring staff.

New plan to make heads explode on the left: If Romney releases prior year taxreturns - RELEASE THEM AS PDF DOCUMENTS THAT HAVEBEEN SCANNED AND PHOTOSHOPPED. Make sure they have the same markings as the ones Obama had when he released his birth certificate.
----------
That'll definitely make heads explode. And then they'll ask for a signed IRS form 4506 which is an authorization to the IRS to release the form directly, then the other side can ask for the same type of authorization for the BC and transcripts.

Find a pediatric orthopedic surgeon with good credentials (good medical school and excellent residency and fellowship). Make an office appointment with him for your daughter and find out how he will respond to possible future injuries. Will he or one of his partners meet you at the emergency room? Will he respond to phone calls, etc.
Physicians are becoming more and more passive (gee, I wonder why?) and unwilling to do what was expected of them just a few years ago. It is imperative that we all hold them accountable and demand excellence.

Mouna Diab, 26, was charged with committing a crime “for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group,” the RCMP said in a statement. She faces a possible life sentence if convicted.
The Laval woman was arrested at MontrealÂ’s Trudeau airport last year and accused of violating an international arms embargo targeting Lebanon, but police added the far more serious terrorism charge on Friday.
While Canadian police have laid dozens of charges under the anti-terrorism laws enacted after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Ms. Diab is the first woman to face charges related to a foreign terrorist organization.
The case also marks the first time Canada has laid charges in connection with Hezbollah, and comes amid concerns Tehran is preparing to unleash the Iranian-sponsored terrorist group in the event of a strike on its nuclear program.

Retail sales fell 0.5 percent in June from May, the Commerce Department said Monday. Consumers spent less on autos, furniture, appliances, on building and garden supplies and at department stores.
The drop in sales followed declines in the previous two months. Retail sales haven't fallen for three straight months since the fall of 2008, at the height of the financial crisis.
Some of the weakness in recent months reflects falling gas prices. But even excluding sales at gas stations, retail spending fell 0.3 percent in June from May.

The cocksuckers at ESPN aren't exactly objective sources on this. Turds like Bayless and Musberger have been shilling for JoePa every fucking step of the way as "doing things the right way and not just settling for doing the minimum amount" when it was apparent even, before the Sandusky stuff was revealed, that it was indistinguishable from any large Div 1 program. And if the NCAA doesn't nuke the fucking program and the cult is allowed their football fix uninterrupted, the world's leader in sports entertainment broadcasting will be right there to serve up maggot-gagging garbage about the redemptive power of kollidge football.

You know there is a truth here that has gone unutilized forever and I don't know why. When our office (state) was cutting us all back little by little in our pay, I always maintained at some point people had to go. Plain and simple, you cannot keep everyone and just lower pay untill they all lose their homes/can't pay their bills...let a few go and keep the rest employed. But I guess that flies in the face of the fundelental philosophy of the nanny state where we keep all workers despite both their ability to do the job and our ability to pay them.

Because, when you're the one who is losing a job, you don't care much about the people keeping theirs.
People are selfish, and aren't largely given to introspection. So when you say, "Pay cuts or Job cuts" most people say, "Pay cut, please!" And, in some cases, that's actually the best answer.
Now, that's true even in the private sector. In the public sector, where perception is more important than reality, it's even worse.

"How many hours is full-time employment? How many hours is part-time employment?
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does not define full-time employment or part-time employment. This is a matter generally to be determined by the employer. Whether an employee is considered full-time or part-time does not change the application of the FLSA."

But, it hasn't worked and won't work--negative attack ads only work in good times. In bad times, thanks to the Dems campaigns of 1992, 2004, 2008, you are supposed to blame the President--their own bullshit has come home to roost.

Mittens has stepped on it a couple of times and knows the power of a soundbite in your opponent's negative ad.
After all, that was the way Mitt won the primary, by demonizing the successive front runners.

The NCAA is really on the spot with this. Strictly speaking, this falls outside their guidelines of what to punish, which are usually set up to prevent an unfair competitive advantage. But this is the largest sport related scandal of all time and turning a blind eye to it was done to protect the cash cow of football. If the football program is allowed to proceed uninterrupted, there will be heckling at away games as if there was a stadium full of Westboro Baptist Church. Or maybe everybody's so fucking jaded that nobody will care; I've said for a while if a Black Sox scandal occurred today people would probably just shrug their shoulders and keep watching.

Report: Obama Sent His National Security Adviser To Israel To Stop Them From Attacking IranÂ…
President Barack ObamaÂ’s National Security Advisor Tom Donilon visited Israel secretly over the weekend in what one Israeli newspaper says was an attempt to convince Israel not to attack IranÂ’s nuclear facilities.
He met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defe nse Minister Ehud Barak and National Security Advisor Gen. Yaakov Amidror.
...
Maariv-NRG says DonilonÂ’s visit reflects heightened U.S. concern that Israel intends to attack Iran sometime during the summer or early autumn. That concern has been heightened by the recent failure of talks between western powers and Iran. The news site estimated that the visit was intended to convince Israel not to launch an attack anytime soon.

I do. I just think it's time people put on their big kid pants and realized a job...any job...is not an entitlement. A pay cut is ok, I have taken three since this all began. I cannot take a bit more and I am not strapped by debt. So yeah, maybe I am like them and want to keep my job...but I cannot take more cuts so that we can all keep our jobs. To what end? To say we have jobs, yet the cost to drive there along with the pay cuts means I have to choose bills not to pay? Cut people at this point. Just reducing pay creates a different kind of nighmare in the economy.

232 Opposition in all things?
What we have here -- is failure -- to communicate.
UN mantra media doesn't post journalists within Syria, but reproduces releases promoting "Arab Spring" Islamists. How many have read this debunk of the MSM smear job v. the Syrian government, setting blame for THE civilian massacre that the UN/NATO use? Given the general media bias exposed below, reconsider the recent propaganda sources this week regarding biological weapons and closing the Strait of Hormuz. As if the global gluts owning media don't have their own agenda. We're so well trained, swallowing deceit and rejecting truth staring us in the face.
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung confirms: Houla massacre committed by Syrian “rebels” [May], by Rainer Hermann, 7 June 2012, 13 June confirmation. [The victims had refused to join the rebels. Go figure.]
The Houla plains region, Hermann writes, “is burdened by a long history of sectarian tensions. ... Of the names of the civilians killed, 84 are known. These are the fathers, mothers and 49 children of the Al Sayyid family and two branches of the Abdarrazzaq family. … Additionally killed in Taldou were relatives of the … member of parliament Abdalmuti Mashlab. The family members were targeted and killed with only one exception. No neighbour was injured. One had to have knowledge of the place to carry out these well-planned executions”.
11-year-old Ali, the only member of the Al Sayyid family to survive the bloodbath: “Those responsible had shaved heads and long beards”...this points to “fanatical jihadists” and not the “Shabiha militia”.
“After the Friday prayers on May 25 more than 700 armed people led by Abdurrazzaq Tlass and Yahya Yusuf, forming three groups from Rastan, Kafr Laha and Akraba, attacked three army checkpoints around Taldou. The numerically superior rebels and the (mostly also Sunni) soldiers fought bloody battles in which two dozen soldiers, mostly conscripts, were killed. During and after the fighting the rebels, supported by residents of Taldou, wiped out the Al Sayyid and Abdarrazzaq families. They had refused to join the opposition”.
In his article, Hermann refers to earlier reports by other journalists and nuns from the Jacob Monastery in Qara. Nuns had described to Dutch journalist Martin Jannsen how the rebels piled the bodies of dead soldiers and civilians in front of the mosque and told UN observers their version of the alleged massacre in front of cameras from rebel-friendly television channels.
The nun Agnès-Maryam had already described the escalation of sectarian violence around Homs in an open letter toward the end of April. She warned of a step-by-step liquidation of all minorities by the Sunni rebels and described the displacement of Christians and Alawites from their homes and the rape of young girls who had been given to the rebels as spoils of war.
Russian journalist Marat Musin who works for the Anna news agency and was in Houla on May 25 and 26, was an eyewitness of the events as well as a reporter. So far Musin seems to have given the most detailed description of what took place. His version coincides with HermannÂ’s and that of the nuns on all decisive points.

I don't care how much over the expected 15% contributions to his church Mitt has paid through life. It doesn't make him any more righteous than the widow with her mite. It doesn't make him any more evil than the Democrat like VP Biden who doesn't contribute to charity or his church. I don't care how Mitt Romney spends his personal income so long as he's not spending mine, so long as my taxes are CUT and our economy improves via a solid frame of value reference, if not gold, then a century based on natural gas, whatever. And that ain't gonna happen with Mitt, no revelation or prediction required.
No one is worse than Obama who STEALS not only from US taxpayers throughout his life, but who threw the most vulnerable, destitute black senior citizens into Chicago streets to survive after ransacking their public housing project. He organized the pinstripe crime, personally directing all public funds to improve the Altgeld Housing Project refurbishment into his attorneys' firms who aligned the reconstruction contracts to corrupt unions that went into the housing project and STRIPPED it of all wiring and piping and fixtures, tearing the place down, leaving the indigent literally on the streets without even that decrepit run down unit for shelter from the elements. There's Obama's "compassion" -- death panels in housing prior to medicine.
You just can't DO THAT to the most indigent elderly in America. No matter how he sells himself as the pied pipin' foodstamp preznit piper, Obama is evil to the core. AS IF he would keep any campaign promise once re-elected. Even the Pied Piper had scruples maintaining contract law, whereas Obama has none.

Maybe you guys can explain this to me. Before I even get my paycheck, which I don't get physically cause no one gets a physical check anymore, anyway, before I even get my pay, all, and I mean all the taxes have been taken out and I get what's left after they've taken their "fair share". Now, I have taken out more taxes now cause I don't want to have to write a check later which has been happening on a regular basis, but I have been doing that every year including the years I have to write a check, no matter how much extra I instruct HR to take.
But anyway, does the government not do this? Do they not take the taxes out of pay?

Someone on twitter is linking to this video. I'd never seen it. It's a good video. He covers a lot, says a lot and it doesn't only apply to Sarah Palin.
Watching the republicans respond to the romney debacle this weekend, made me see that this video is applicable to them.
It's interesting to watch the republican party come to the aid of romney, not. They aren't doing it cause they don't trust that the dems aren't right and they won't risk their own future, political and journalistic, on defending a man they themselves aren't quite sure about.
They should be ashamed of themselves....they're doing to romney what they did to sarah palin but on a smaller scale.
The folks on here who saw this a month ago are really smart.
But, of course, if he hired those same "operatives" that helped McCain to lose his lead after his sarah palin announcement and he doesn't fire them, then he probably will lose.

It's all well and good for Romney's taking heads to point out that the Obama talking heads' Bain meme are channeling Donald Trump's birther meme.
But they seem to be missing the most effective jujitsu move. That Romney cashed in his chips at Bain for a life of public service.
A largely flattering article describng this transition appeared in none other than the NY Times! (Of course, that was during the last election cycle, when the Times tried to swift boat McCain with the bogus infidelity smear.)
The Long Run
In Olympics Success, Romney Found New Edge
By Kirk Johnson Published: September 19, 2007"In a recent interview, Mr. Romney said the Games had prepared him for the complexity of public life.
“I never saw a more difficult turnaround situation than the one at the Olympics,” he said. “And the team, not just me, but a remarkable team of public leaders and Olympic leaders pulled off something which was a massive undertaking and which had a crisis written all over it.”
Asked how he put together the effort, Mr. Romney checked off his list: hire the right people, motivate them, make decisions on the basis of analysis and debate, set bench marks to measure success. '
He always has an objective in mind and a goal that he works toward,” said Randy L. Dryer, a lawyer and a former member of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee who worked closely with Mr. Romney and described himself as a Democrat, but also an admirer of Mr. Romney’s. “But he’s not unwilling to modify that objective if it’s an uphill battle and not worth the fight to get there — he is not bullheaded.” '
<snip>
'...Mr. Romney, the persuasive businessman, also defanged some critics. Stephen Pace knows about that. He was a business consultant who believed the Games would spell ruin for Utah and had made great sport of eviscerating Mr. RomneyÂ’s predecessors.
After the scandal broke in 1998, Mr. Pace and his friends paraded in front of news cameras with T-shirts that read, “Slalom and Gomorrah.” Organizing Committee leaders barred Mr. Pace from meetings, which of course only gave him even more ammunition.
Mr. Romney, however, was a different kind of foe. Instead of shunning Mr. Pace, he invited him to come to a committee meeting, and about the same time announced that all meetings would be open to the public. And when Mr. Pace arrived, with the cameras rolling, Mr. Romney proposed a trade — he wanted a “Slalom and Gomorrah” shirt and would give Mr. Pace a regular Olympics booster shirt...'
