2 Lot out there.  I haven't finished going through it all yet but here goes:

Good Morning Morons.  Today is Wednesday, July 18, 2012.  ON this day in 64 the great fire of Rome occurred. And no Nero did not start it so he could “fiddle while the city burned”.  He wasnÂ’t even in the city at the time it burned.  He did seize on the fire as an excuse to blame Christians and begin persecuting them but that was after the fact.   It did result in a new city plan and what were probably the first urban fire codes.

5 Obama unveils plans to throw away another $1B in unconstitutional interference in the public school system.  He wants to create “master” science and math teachers.  My feeling is that this would soon grow into just another social outreach program aimed at minorities and the so-called underprivileged.   No money has been authorized for this program and none will. But will this stop him from telling the DoEd to start throwing money at it?

7 Emmet Otter and his all jug band attack swimmer in MN lake.   This is the craziest thing I ever heard of.  Most likely the otter had rabies but this is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing. Well, maybe not the craziest thing.  Jimmy Crater had crazy bugs bunny coming after him.  Probably another case of rabies.

9 Bullshit article from the Russian Times about  GIGANTIC HORROR radiation levels reaching the U.S. West Coast from the Japanese reactors.

The reason I am linking this is that it is absolute bull shit but I am sure the watermelon-commies will latch on to it like Louisiana swamp leeches.  The proper response to it should be sunken Russian subs have released tens of thousands of times more radiation to the water and we have seen nothing.

10 Americans joined disability ranks higher than those finding jobs.  No shit, 50% of those disability people scamming SSDI have been estimated to be fraudulent.  Private companies with disability donÂ’t have that problem.  When people try it they get caught and prosecuted for fraud. Not so with the Gov.  The Gov doesnÂ’t give a shit because it isnÂ’t their money.  Its yours.

18 Federal Judge orders NYCFD to implement racial quotas and pay $129 million in back-pay because of “exams”.  This was done under the stupid “disparate impact” theory that is being used all over the country to reinstitution legal discrimination and other fraud on the public.  Congress needs to fix this bull shit that is “court legislated” to begin with.  It assumes automatically that if minorities fail the test it is because the test is unfairly or illegally discriminatory.

Yes, the test IS designed to be discriminatory.  It is designed to filter out dumb asses and incompetents that can not be trained. But it is not designed to filter out blacks and other minorities.

Thanks for the news, Vic.  If I had a hat, I'd take it off to you.  I don't know how you can round up all this stuff every day without having a stroke.  I truly, truly HATE the SCOAMF and every one of his "bipartisan" enablers.

Today is the birthday of Lupe Velez, an actress known in her lifetime as "The Mexican Spitfire" - after a series of RKO comedies with Leon Errol - but now known for the disgusting Hollywood Babylon story that she drowned in her toilet.  The story's not true; it began through mixed reports about her being found in her bathroom by her maid.  She committed suicide ostensibly because of the shame of being pregnant and unmarried, but there are suggestions that she suffered from bipolar disorder and that it finally caught up with her.

TCM occasionally shows a "Mexican Spitfire" movie, which are wonderful fun to watch.  Go to their website and type in "Mexican Spitfire" and you'll be able to see a trailer from her first, 1940's Mexican Spitfire.

And that's it for me.  Your Hollywood Anecdotist got hammered last night, so there's a bit of discord in the Poppins household today.  Hope you all have a wonderful day.

So sorry Miss Marple.  Back during the last drought here they raised the price of water (County) and added a new tier of pricing for punishing people who used over a certain number of gallons (because of the drought you know).

Well the drought went away but those new high prices and punishment tiers didn't.  I quit watering my grass.  I can't afford $200 water bills in the summer.

42 Mrs. Sailor was a little upset yesterday. It seems one of her employees came in her office totally stressed because her formally easy to employ husband cannot find a job. This is happening a lot. Why is this worth writing about? Unemployment is beginning to hit those it had never hit before. Those that are uber talented at the top of their game are getting cut and they don't understand why. They are not handling it well. Lots of people are popping solexa, prozac, zoloft, etc like pez. The country has been in worse shape but this and the two previous generations have never felt it. Many of our grand parents went through the great depression, they preached saving and living within your means. Now it seems that tragedy is defined as having to stop the daily visit to starbucks. Whats your point OSP? We needed this. We needed the wake up call. It's going to get so much worse. If we survive it we are going to be a much better country because of it. If we don't win, look forward to combat in the streets. If we do win, look forward to combat in the streets. It's painful to pay the piper, especially for a society that doesn't know what pain is.

50 Besides the financial blow to the farmers here (and higher food prices as we discussed yesterday) it is just damn depressing.

Indiana is normally a green state.  Lawns are dead (not dormant as many people believe mistakenly) and landscape plants are dying.  I was over at the mall and saw a whole line of brown shrubs in straw-colored grass,  all deader than a doornail.    I have pie plates of water out for small animals,  who are increasingly being hit on roads while they search for water.

It is worse than a long winter.   We got about 10 minutes of rain last night through a shower but it was really nothing,  and I doubt it even penetrated the baked clay ground.

Actually it was racism.  the Democratic Party in SC currently consists of white people who grew up in the FDR days (commonly called yellow dog Democrats) and blacks.

The blacks, who out number those octogenarians, all voted for the black candidate in the primary.  Since there are about 40% blacks in the counties here good old Alvin took the primary.

The League of Fair-Minded Moderate Conservative Bloggers (Ed "Poppin' Fresh" Morrissey, president) has decreed that any criticism or questioning of Bark Obama's birth certificate is racist, "bad optics" and Just Not Fair to President Historic First©.

That apparently applies to college transcripts, passport records (how did the Choomer-in-Chief get to make vacay in Pakistan when Americans weren't allowed in?) and all the other sealed documentary evidence of Obama's brilliant career.

In fairness, however, Mutt Romney MUST release all his tax records and provide proof that he hasn't committed a felony because, well, that's simple propriety. We wouldn't want the Democrats to think we have anything to hide, would we?

Arpaio may me crazy as a friggin' loon, I don't know. But it's also damn possible he is actually doing the work that the eunuchs in the so-called conservative media won't do.

98 Brother, can you spare a dime?

DETROIT: Plan to Raze Detroit Empty Homes in Final Stages in a bid to make the city safer. Bing's pledge three years ago to demolish 10,000 derelict buildings by the end of his term in late 2013 (4500 already gone) using demolition as a way to address blight. The Michigan Governor is working on a state plan for better city lighting and safe routes to school, incorporating state police with local police towards safe schools the hub of the community. The demolished real estate is selected for community gardens and "public projects" meaning private sector non-profit neighborhood organizations [emphasis "non-profit" being tax funded via grants].

[Our US tax dollars at work in Detroit and Michigan demolition projects.] The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is compiling a geo-mapping and coding effort to detail information on the structures to help guide decisions on which buildings will be demolished and provide a better estimate of the costs involved; the governor is exploring multiple funding options.

[Does the open real estate amount to a near-free land grab for the well intended? So what?] Among the state agencies involved are the Department of Treasury, the Michigan Land Bank, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, the Department of Human Services and the Michigan State Police. Also involved are the Detroit mayor's office, Detroit Public Schools and a variety of private sector, nonprofit and neighborhood organizations.

Reuters, July 17

Good luck, Governor, running "Imported From Detroit" demolition using federally accrued tax funds. No doubt the work needs doing. But given the Michigan unemployed getting tax subsidies and food stamps, put them to work for their own neighborhood clean-up to follow through with gardening and new construction for those government designated "public works". Obama's days are numbered, as are our own. There's no "free" blood from turnips. Ask Mitt's opinion.

Yo.

I learned something about maps this week.

We had to get from point A to point B, in an area I didn't know too well.

Looked at the map, saw I could turn left on a certain street and it would all be easy.

Except we never found the street and therefore could not turn. I'd looked at Bing maps and on the map app on my phone.

Neither one indicates in any way that one street is an overpass, which makes it slightly challenging to turn onto it.

Google maps does show, if you zoom in closely enough, a sort of line that goes through the intersection, whereas other intersections are open squares. Neither Bing nor the app showed a darn thing.

Twas a good lesson for teh short people about how you need to know the area, not just rely on a map or GPS.

We already saw how that worked out in Los Angeles. King Drew Hospital was created in the aftermath of the Watts Riots in a strange reconciliation bid. It had a hiring policy that placed melanin levels above competence. It doesn't take many bad doctors and nurses on an otherwise good staff to make the results awful.

This place was notorious for years as a place that ambulances arrived at with unconcious patients because anyone awake enough would beg and bribe to be taken elsewhere. The place was finally shut down except for a small portion doing urgent care and walk-in clinic work.

Posted by: Justamom As you probably know but others may not, there certainly is a provision in Barrycare that gives a federal board that power. Not only that, but they will decide racial quotas per specialty; meaning a female Asian American who has brilliant scores in Med School and Clinicals might decide that all she wants to do in life is cardiology so she schedules residency interviews at 10 hospitals. Paul Gaylord, 59, developed the symptoms after he was bitten by a stray cat his family had adopted.

The cat, named Charlie, had caught a rodent which was stuck in his throat. It is thought that the rat was infected by fleas, which carry the disease.
Initially, Mr Gaylord thought he had the flu when he developed a fever after the bite.  After antibiotics failed to make him feel better, he was rushed to hospital when his lymph nodes swelled to the size of lemons.

With religious parties disproportionately powerful in the Knesset as they can make of break coalition governments, Mr Netanyahu proved unwilling to alienate them by taking a strong stance on the issue.

Neither one indicates in any way that one street is an overpass, which makes it slightly challenging to turnonto it.

There is a series of state atlases that do the same thing -- I forget who publishes them. The maps themselves are very detailed and accurate and show topography like USGS topo quads. The trick to reading them is figuring out what kind of roads are being shown. Streets don't generally intersect with highways.

149 (ABC)- The Obama campaign is going retro, circa 2004. Back then, President Bush supporters attacked then-Democratic candidate John Kerry on what was supposed to be Kerry's greatest strength -- his military service. A group known as the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth undermined that strength, calling into question Kerry's credentials and military awards. And thus was born "swiftboating" -- a term used to describe unfair or untrue political attacks.

And they've succeeded. Romney has been unable to effectively respond to the attacks.

It how bosses exert power. They personally may be limited to $2500 but if they make it clear that matching donations are a factor in employee reviews, they can generate far more cash for their candidate. The money is given back to the employees via bonuses later on, so it all effectively came from the boss.

I'm sure you've seen the naked pictures of Stanley Ann? Well guess what? There are TEN of them! They were published in a mens magazine back in 1961. The Photographer was Frank Marshall Davis, and this has been absolutely established because a man named Gilberts matched the wood grain pattern in the floor of the photographs with the actual house which is located at 2994 Kalihi st. in Honolulu.  That is Frank Davis' house in 1960. (Currently owned by a Japanese lady who allowed him to take pictures of the interior and exterior.)

I have my own opinion on Palin speaking at the Repub convention, naturally, but of far greater importance is having Brian Terry's parents being given a prominently spotlighted forum.  The chinless cocksucker has presented the Repubs with a giant gift and the MFM toadies have done their best to keep the public at large from finding out about it.  This is the perfect opportunity for the few dimwits who depend on the MFM for their info to find out just what the fuck happened in this sad situation, complete with clips of Stedman telling the Congressional committee that he should be given credit for the great fucking job he's done.

Failure to take advantage of this gift would show a lack of committment to winning in November; kind of like the McRINO disaster.

President Barack Obama, speaking to supporters Monday in Cincinnati said, "if you work hard, then you can get ahead; if you're responsible, then you can live out your dreams. You're not confined to the circumstances of your birth." But a new poll commissioned by The Hill publication found that 47 percent of likely voters believe becoming wealthy in their lifetime is impossible, and 37 percent of those surveyed say they will never become rich. Of the 1,000 voters polled, 40 percent regard "wealthy" as earning at least $500,000 a year. Meanwhile, 31 percent attribute wealth to an annual income of $250,000 a year, and 20 percent say wealth constitutes at least $1 million in salary a year.

Americans' personal wealth has decreased in the past few years after the housing and stock market crashes. Wage growth has been stagnant, and millions of unemployed Americans are forced to take part-time or lower-paying jobs to make ends meet. The growing disparity between the wealthy and the poor in the U.S. sparked the Occupy Wall Street protests last year and has become a central focus in the November elections. President Obama said he supports raising taxes on the richest Americans and has been campaigning on a platform to level the playing field between the "1 percent" and the majority of Americans.

(ABC) - Four dozen people have been charged in one of the largest drug-diversion schemes ever, a federal prosecutor said Tuesday. The alleged Medicaid fraud is estimated to have cost taxpayers a half-billion dollars.

"The defendants worked a fraud on Medicaid, a fraud on pharmaceutical companies, a fraud on legitimate pharmacies, a fraud on patients who unwittingly bought second-hand drugs and ultimately a fraud on the entire health care system," said Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama was the first presidential candidate to raise more than $100 million in a month and in 2008 was the first to forgo public money for his campaign. Now, he faces the very real threat of being the first president to be outspent by a challenger.

Obama, who four years ago broke just about every fundraising record for a presidential hopeful, has now been forced to look his supporters in the eye and confess he might not keep pace with Republican Mitt Romney. It's a sobering realization for his campaign, which had imagined an unlimited budget for ads, offices and mail.

I was reading "Texas Darlin'" at the time, and I believe you've misstated what happened.  There was a fellow doing an analysis of Obama's COLB who claimed to be a document expert. (I think he called himself "Techdude" or some such. I think his real name is "Ron Polarik") He pointed out a lot of things about the document, and people were following his analysis with interest when he announced that he thinks he knows who's document Obama's COLB was fabricated from.

He then goes on to announce that Obama's COLB was a manipulated copy of his sister Maya's Hawaiian birth certificate.  The problem with this announcement was that his sister Maya was born in Indonesia, and had an Indonesian birth certificate.  Once this was pointed out, he was no longer regarded as having any credibility whatsoever, and soon became a huge embarrassment to the website.

I'm starting to think this is something that will turn into the next multi-generational unsolved conspiracy to ever rival the JFK assassination.

There are plenty of people who are multiplying the complexity of the entire issue, and who are actively trying to turn it into a massive "JFK" like conspiracy, but there are also people who are weighing the facts and who are not buying the kooky theories that other people are floating.

292 I'm thinking the one place that Sheriff Arpaio forgot to look for the birth certificate is up George Lopez's swishy ass.

293 289 Nobody cares about Sheriff Arpaio's discoveries regarding Obama's birth certificate? THAT ought to be the news of the day. Posted by: DiogenesLamp at July 18, 2012 10:12 AM (v7Nqc) Like I said last night, this shit has been beaten to death to the point moderates don't give a shit. I'd rather see this election as America's take on Socialism. If Romney wins by a 52-48 or 53-47, I'm packing my shit and getting ready to make for the hills. If Romney wins in a true landslide I'll be able to breath a hella lot easier.

294 Did you all see the story about how Rotten Tomatoes had to shut off comments for the new Batman movie?
Seems a bunch of the commentators were posting their usual vileness, up to and including death threats, toward a couple of movie critics that said the movie sucked.

Hmm.

Why do I think that the majority of those were also JEF voters who took it as an insult to their child-god?

Granted, I have recycled many, many beers since 2008, but I thought that "TechDude" admitted to TXDarlin' that he was knowingly  hoaxing her, and knowingly manufactured the various file comparisons to make them look like the name had been digitally erased and changed from Maya to Barry.

TXDarlin' shut down afterwards in shame, exhaustion, and bewilderment.  So  I never really got much follow-up to the story.  Was TechDude not part of the problem?

297 I think this President, who I assume was born here, nonetheless has made himself a "composite" history and hides a lot of shit because he does not want to reveal who he really is or what he really believes.  But when he has his second term, he will have more "flexability".  I don't think he is incompetent.  He intends the consequences of everything he is doing.

Playing Yakkity Sax while Ed Shultz lumbers in circles around his desk does not count as "talking" about it.

I'm personally not concerned about whether moderates care about it or not. I am also not terribly concerned that it will have any impact on Obama. What is of paramount importance to me is why so many people on our side decided to join the Democrats in spiking this issue.

Some Conservatives/Republicans went out of their way to kill any discussion of this issue, even to the point of ignoring obvious holes in the official narrative. I want to know why they did it, and if they will do such a thing again.

What I have learned from this issue, is that people whom we thought to be allies were just as willing to viciously attack us and cover for Obama as were our enemies, despite whatever facts were subsequently uncovered.  Apparently the principles embodied in our laws are more flexible to these people, and it is a good thing of which to be aware prior to dealing with them.

Morning, morons.  I'm back from a really great mini-vacation to Cape Cod.  Thanks to Obama's economy, it is all we could afford and was the first family vacation for us in 5 years.  Took my teenage kids to their first ever drive-in movie!  We saw "Brave," and it was excellent.

It is my understanding that "TechDude" WAS the problem.  I don't recall reading anything which indicated he TOLD her he was hoaxing her, but the conclusion that he WAS hoaxing her was widely expressed by commentators.

She also had contributors from a blog called Israeli Insider. They lent support until he came out with the "Maya" thing. Then they denounced the whole sorry mess.

DL - OK.  You and I are on the same page, then.  I thought he'd confessed, but I wouldn't put  money on it.  Confession or not doesn't matter anymore, I guess.

I was hoping that the event would have led to TXDarlin'  converting.  Haven't bothered to look and see if she ever fired up the blog or started cobbing somewhere else, though.
