The Obama administration's plan to let thousands of young illegal immigrants stay in the country and apply for work permits reportedly could cost more than $585 million to carry out.
Perhaps the costs should come out of his pocket.

Here is an opinion piece at Fox that describes how he has flouted the law and granted defacto amnesty via executive orders and just willful violation. So let it be written so let it be done. A Republican would have been impeached after the first year in office.

Will the Obamanite ICE department go after them the way they do AZ for actually enforcing the law? Hahahahaha.
According to the Obamanite theory it is “illegal” to enforce the law when it deals with migration and voting. How much fungible federal aid is Baltimore getting? And how much more will they ask for to support these illegal leeches?

Lets hit them with some emotion that maybe they can understand. Lets make it a class “A” felony punishable by 1 year in jail to publicly call for any type of gun control legislation. After all, if we can ignore and violate a plainly worded second amendment, why not the first amendment as well? When you hear a libtard calling for gun control, hit them with this.

Does this also open up merchants to lawsuits to fraud, misrepresentation, etc. across state lines now also? Right now to sue you're kind of limited to filing action in the state the merchant is located somewhat. I got a felling this will make it so merchants will be chasing all over the country defending themselves. Lawyers will love it though.

All I can say is that when I was a young woman, we were constantly bombarded with media crap, movies, and songs which extolled the wisdom of youth and the corruptness of anyone over 30.
Now, as an older person in my 60's, the same exact tactic has been dredged up again. The idea is to divide the generations so that leftist goals can be accomplished, the exact same goal as the 60's and 70's.
After all, when all of us older people are gone, who will have memories of how this country once was?

Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes.
Since yesterday's ONT finished off (as it were) with pictures of Grace Kelly and today has no Hollywood births of interest (except for William DeMille, screenwriter / director brother of C.B.), Your Hollywood Anecdotist will mention the known-to-everybody-in-Hollywood-but-Rainier that Kelly was a complete mattress back.
She was notorious for fucking on the first date (her signature move was to bring a fellow home, excuse herself for a moment, then come back completely naked) and had affairs with nearly every leading man in Tinseltown - Bing Crosby, Gary Cooper, William Holden and Marlon Brando, to name a few, as well as that paragon of men, JFK. Apparently only two men put a kink in her style -
One was Jimmy Stewart, whose wife was constantly on set during the filming of Rear Window, having heard about Kelly's roundheel reputation.
Another man who gave her a bit of trouble was Clark Gable, who really wanted to sleep with Ava Gardner, but was scared of Sinatra's wrath. Kelly not only stripped for Gable on various occasions, she even got down on her knees - not for what you'd think, but to beg Gable to sleep with her. One suspects that after she got her wish she was quite disappointed, as Carole Lombard (Gable's wife and one true love, who died in an airplane crash in 1942) confessed that her clit was bigger than Clark's gable.
She did not sleep with Alfred Hitchcock, though the director made no secret of his desire. She did, apparently, allow him to peep at her through a window as she undressed, the closest she ever came to granting him the ultimate favor.
When finally engaged to Prince Rainier, a notorious story going around town was that the Prince, in Hollywood to meet some of Kelly's friends, cornered a star (the identity varies; most often, it's Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) and asked him who was the best cocksucker in Hollywood.
"Oh, everybody knows Grace -" Fairbanks began before stopping in horror, "Grace - Darling" he finally managed to blurt, pulling a name from the air, "is the best." And before Rainier could ask for an introduction, Fairbanks headed for the nearest drink.
And that's it for this morning. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

He was the first to verifiably make high pressure, high-temperature synthetic diamonds. However, synthetic diamonds are now also made by a gas phase process called chemical vapor deposition. That process for making diamonds was discovered by a Russian, IIRC. The process is best for making semiconductor grade diamond in a thin film, although it is (and has been for some time) on the cusp of being usable to make large gems. A 3rd method uses explosives, but the diamonds are tiny (< 10 nm).
Yeah, I used to work in this area.

If it hasn't already been said, you may want to consider picking up a Glock 26 for your CC. It can accept Glock 19 (and 17, for that matter) magazines, giving you some options. I often carry a G17 magazine as a backup, giving me 27 shots.
On the other hand it is a bit chunky so the Ruger might be a better choice. Just thought I'd suggest another option.

The so-called "counter-culture flower-child hippy movement" with the yoots of the USA filled with a bunch of "Easy Rider" types was a myth created by the MFM. The youths of the 60s were just like the youths of all the other years. They went to HS, graduated and either went to college or went to the draft. And almost ALL went willingly. Only a few scumbags went to Canada to avoid the draft.
This. My parents are always remarking on how hippies were the exception, not the norm. As my mother says, "Hippies were the spoiled children of rich parents who were able to waste a decade playing 'flower children' because mommy and daddy gave them an indulgent allowance. They were aberrant circus freaks."
I'm pretty sure if my father had ever met a hippy, he would have punched him/her/it square in the nose. Well, he probably wouldn't have punched a woman. But he'd have punched the nearest guy.

RIP Sally K. Ride, America's first female astronaut, a great woman of science and loyal friend to her associates.
Sally Ride's headline link does injustice. How many of us can boast her professional achievements? She chose her personal life to remain private, so RIP. As if her sexual preference mattered or matters and should be the focus of her obituary, coloring her professional accomplishments and her public life, all defined by who shared her home life? If her surviving companion is making it out "all about me, " our condolences to the bereaved. Yes, socialist public educators (including the media) with their own agenda will continue using sexual orientation to propagandize. That is not Sally Ride's legacy, but their own.

SS has long been the "third rail" of politics. Touch it at your peril.
Funny how a robust economy, which seems to be the very last thing on the minds of politicians, would cure a lot of our current ills. I'd like to see an option to either have a personal retirement account OR SS. But that would be waaaay too much freedom for us to have, now wouldn't it?

She's the reason I would say I wanted to be an astronaut when asked what i wanted to be when I grew up, unlike the other little girls around me who wanted to be princesses or ballerinas. Then and now I couldn't care less about her sexual orientation. It had nothing to do with what made her a great role model for little girls (and boys!) everywhere.

You act like this isn't still common practice from the regressives. Let's not forget, anyone who isn't a regressive tool is automatically tarred with one or more of the following brushes:
1) RAAAAACISSSSST
2) Moneygrubbing fat cat who would evict orphans in the dead of winter
3) Woman-hating misogynist who thinks all women should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, or dying in childbirth
4) Bloodthirsty warmonger
5) Hitler
And they're not exactly coy about any of those distinctions.

Problem is that a personal retirement account OR SS offers you a choice and the possibility of getting out from under the thumb of the all-caring, all-wise gummint (not a good thing in the eyes of almost any politician, be they R, D or I).
The other political non-starter would be to separate medical insurance from employment and make all medical expenses (including insurance) tax deductible. This coupled with Health Savings Accounts would go a long way to solving health care, but again the government would lose control of your live so it will never happen.

Actually, after thinking about it, he could probably put an easy-to-remember URL in the ad that links directly to the full, unedited, uncut Roanoke speech and invite people to watch it for themselves and say, "He says we took his words out of context. But here we are, giving you complete context. This wasn't a slip-up. He's explaining his beliefs thoroughly," (quick cut to a clip from his new ad) "and then telling you you didn't see what you saw."
They could do this with a bunch of speeches where he's talking to his more fervent supporters. Make it clear that you want people to see Obama explain his actual beliefs in their complete original context, and that you don't need to stoop to clever editing or semantic tricks to make him look like he's telling liberal donors one thing, and then trying to tell everyone else no, no, he's not like that distorted attack ad caricature at all.

My guess? Because this is what Obama believes. When he goes off TOTUS, he tends to blab his TRUE beliefs, and during campaign season he goes off teleprompter more often than otherwise. So he's going to say something openly Marxist like this again, and they can't keep claimng he misspoke when he consistently misspeaks the same damn thing. So instead they have to try to recontextualize the comments. Which is perfect, because context just makes what he said even worse.
It's like Bammy's mouth is equipped with a tiny shovel, and everytime he opens his yap he digs himself a little deeper into a growing pile of shit.

The other political non-starter would be to separate medical insurance from employment and make all medical expenses (including insurance) tax deductible. This coupled with Health Savings Accounts would go a long way to solving health care, but again the government would lose control of your live so it will never happen.
No shit.
I'm wondering in my little black heart if it isn't about time for some activism on our part, starting with the ballot box. We're past the point of asking nicely for those we elect to do our bidding in DC.
Muffins and lime Jello ain't cuttin' it any more. We need to start telling these creatures that if they like their jobs, they'd better start listening to the conservative majority of the country or they will be replaced.
And right about here is where I encourage MWR to start a blog. There's strength in numbers, and teh Intarwebz gives us a voice we never had before. I'm considering doing as much with mine as I can, including maybe monetizing it for my fourteen readers. At this point, writing is about the only marketable skill I have open to me, despite my suckitude. I may as well try it, until manufacturing comes back, if it ever does.

If you want to monetize and market it, I'd be willing to chip in with occasional writing, if you'd like. Actually, I think several of the Morons starting a joint blog might be a Good Thing.

Thanks, AllenG and EoJ! Yeah, the "free" part is most important to me at the moment. I know it's not terribly expensive to get your own domain, but since I go through phases of "writewritewritewrite!" and phases of "*crickets*," free is probably the way to go for now.
BackwardsBoy: Aww, thanks for the encouragement! The fact that so many of the 'rons and 'ronettes already have blogs of their own is what's gotten me interested in starting my own. There is definitely strength in numbers.
And you do NOT suck. So you can just knock that off right now. *stern glare*

*head tilt* Martha Stewart?
Would the HQ already sort of count as a joint blog? Since everyone just reads the comments anyway.

That's not a bad idea, AllenG. I posted DrewM's post this past weekend on the Aurora shootings. Maybe we could just do that for a while as the market comes to us (nyuk, nyuk).
In the meantime, we could also make sure we have all the other Moron Blogs linked in our own. I've got as many as I'm aware of on mine, including yours.

Sure, Palin can still pack stadiums, excite the base and influence senate, house and governor's races across the country, but the smart move is to have Rob Portman explain to moderates why they should vote republican. 30 people at a time. Renting the Velvet Room at Holiday Inns across the land.
Winning is better when done the hard way.
Posted by: jwest at July 25, 2012 05:31 AM (ZDsRL)
Well, there's that.
No, the problem with that (if I may discuss it in seriousness for a moment) is that following a single thread through the comments can be tough. Especially in the 200+ comment threads. Also, we're at least sort of limited to talking about whatever Ace (or the Cob-Loggers) want to talk about. Sometimes we may hijack a thread, but that's really only for the people who read the comments anyway (and, let me assure you, there are plenty of people who read the blog but don't look at the comments. The hit counts of the two posts I've ever had can attest to that).
A real joint blog lets us get our own headlines (and therefore thoughts) "out there" more effectively. But it takes a lot of time and effort to market a blog effectively.

OK, OK, y'all. Message received and understood. I guess that's just "writer's anxiety." I'm never sure if anyone "gets it" or not over at my place.
I keep thinking that one of these days, I'll accidentally post something that gets picked up and goes viral.
Thanks for the kind words. That's all I need, well, that and this ashtray...

I've found (I think, anyway, please inform me if I'm wrong so I can fix it) that I get better at writing as I do it more. Also, the more posts you have in a day, the more Google will find your blog- increasing your hit count.
That's why I try to have at least 3 posts during the work day, if I can.

I've been testing that theory myself this past week or so. Hits have increased somewhat. I'll stick with it for a while longer to see if there's a delayed reaction. Back when I was working, I only had time for one post a day. Now that I'm funemployed again, I've got more time to devote to this decidedly unhealthy compulsion to blog.

Twitter is useful, too. Make sure you follow as many of the Morons as you can- we're pretty good (mostly) about following back, and some of the 'Rons and 'Ettes (not me) actually have fairly large followings- which means when they'll Retweet your messages (like, say, an announcement of a blog post) they're getting that in front of more eyes that you otherwise would.

Does anyone know how to do third grade math? Or open a history book?
Medicare and Medicaid were passed by LBJ in 1965. The oldest boomer then was 20 years old (some were off fighting in southeast Asia). The voting age was 21 until 1970. And, not that I personally witnessed this myself, but frankly they were too stoned or preoccupied with womanizing to make an impact in a voting booth until 1976.
The entitlement crisis was created by the greatest generation, as was the concept of limited war. They were great and we owe them a lot, but they were human and made some dumb mistakes.
So did boomers (e.g. Jimmy Carter).

A blog that focused more on a specific topic for a while might be nice (there is never anu telling where any AoS thread might lead). Of course, I speak more as a commenter than a blogger (although I have thought about trying the free software entre to blogging).

It was damn luck than the Andrea Doria disaster wasn't worse than it was. Italian Line practice was to discourage the ballasting of empty fuel tanks with seawater to avoid cleaning them causing a extremely topheavy ship than acquired a viscious list almost immediately after the collision. There was an grave threat of the liner capsizing well before passengers could be evacuated.

Tackle Authoritarianism
No argument that Wilson and FDR were WRONG to promise utopia via centralization of power, requiring public trust in the elitists who of course with the best intentions knew best. My WWII dad just passed away this month. He benefited immensely from the 1944 GI Bill of Rights that enabled his educational and professional achievements including government subsidized insurance benefits and retirement packages. His generation is the only one that "got it all" from FDR's multiple New Deals including the full package from Social Security and every other socialized federal program thereafter. Those benefit-entitlements aren't there for the children of the aggrandized "Greatest Generation" nor the grandchildren or posterity.
Hey, I've been voting against corruption all along, and because of principle, never participate in such opportunistic tax fund heist bribes as "Cash for Clunkers". I pay my taxes, bills, and debts with interest. So much for the mighty vote and personal integrity.
You think GenXY Senators and Critters will do better?
