— Gabriel Malor Happy Monday.
Walter Russell Mead has a must-read post on the energy revolution and environmentalists. It is, as typical for Mead, brilliant.
The NYTimes' Andrew Rosenthal is not amused by the White House's clumsy attempt to put to rest the story of the Churchill bust: "I got some facts wrong, because I made the mistake of relying on a White House blog post by the communications director Dan Pfeiffer. . . . The White HouseÂ’s handling of the issue was bumbling and amateurish. In other words, business as usual." Charles Krauthammer thinks an apology would be appropriate.
Some good poll results for Romney. After a month of Obama ads trashing him for Bain and after six months of media fixation on clown questions, e.g., Shamus, bullying, Mormonism: 48 percent of voters consider Romney the stronger leader, compared to 44 percent who favored Obama. Similarly, 47 percent of likely voters also said Romney most shares their values while 44 percent picked Obama. When asked which candidate voters considered more honest and trustworthy, 46 percent said Romney and 44 percent said Obama. The crosstabs are interesting (PDF).
According to the Daily Caller, a new book on the Obama Administration scheduled for release in August claims that Obama cancelled the UBL raid three times on the advice of Valerie Jarrett before finally making the gutsy call.
A new Gallup poll finds that voters' absolutely lowest priorities are taxing the wealthy and dealing with environmental problems. Voters want good job creation the most.

He really cracks me up sometimes. He'll tell you that you're focusing on one poll and ignoring the blizzard!!!111! of evidence that Obama is winning...and then he'll ignore all the polls that show Obama in the tank.
Or....my favorite...he'll tell you Rasmussen sucks and always has been an outlier in final results....until someone posts the research that proves otherwise.
Does Greg ever retract?!?!? No! He doubles down.

"Even before Romney was the [de facto Republican] nominee, ObamaÂ’s character and personality always polled better than his policies and better than his performance..."
His performance must be worse than I suspected, given that earflaps has no character outside of what is written on his magic plastic 'prompter paddles, and has the personality of a sewer rat.
"performance"?- golf outings, fundraisers, and regularly saying moronic and embarrassing things for six solid months does not in any way shape or form denote "performance".

"What has Obama accomplished? Ended War in Iraq, hunted down BinLaden, saved GM, reformed immigration/wall street and created 4 million jobs"
"President Obama took office when unemployment was trending towards 11%. Now it's near 8%. How's that failure again? The choice is clear."
"During their last 3 months George Bush and Republicans lost over 800,000 jobs. Since President Obama was elected 29 months of job growth."
And it goes on and on. Any idea how this guy's getting his tweets past a block?

Carville too, now that I think about it.
Yes, I remember the famous Marquette poll that was going to doom Walker about 2 days before the election. Greg was here trumpeting it at 10 am. When it was released at 1 pm it was the exact opposite of what he was saying it was going to be.

Normally that would probably be the case, but there's never any "Retweeted by ___" tag. It always pops up in the timeline as a tweet by Christopher Zullo and it says "Promoted by Christopher Zullo". And then I check his followers list, filter for people I know, and it says I don't follow anyone who follows him.
His bio also says he founded some progressive PAC. I guess he uses his PAC funding to pay off Twitter to spread his word around, or something.

Good morning, Morons. Hope you all had a great weekend.
Gabe, it'll be interesting to see what the left comes up with next to throw at Romney. What have they got left? I only see four choices left, since the dog-eating retard wants to stay away from the economy at all costs:
Bush!
Romney's a rich bastard;
Mormons;
Racist!
The only one I can see getting any real MFM traction is Mormonism. I'm expecting a doubled-down emphasis on that in the next few weeks, to push the meme that, well, if Obama's not really an American because of Jeremiah Wright, then Mitt's not really an American because of Brigham Young.*
Anyway - during the grand age of Hollywood, you had the major studios such as MGM, Paramount and Warner Brothers, the second-tiers like Columbia and RKO and the "Poverty Row" studios which churned out B pictures, cheapo Westerns and serials. One such was Republic Studios, a collection of small independent producers who got together in the early 1930s. Shooting on the old Mack Sennett lot in Edendale, Republic made Gene Autry and Roy Rogers Westerns, country musicals and detective stories.
One of their producers was a man named Nat Levine, famous for his cheapness and ability to cut corners wherever possible. A story which became Hollywood legend concerned a 12-part serial in which the villian always wore a black hood. Levine hired a well-known character actor for the part - at least, that's what the actor thought. Levine, he found, had only hired him for one day of shooting; it was the final chapter in the series, when the villian is captured and his hood removed.
And that was that. For those key shots, the bewildered actor received one day's pay - and for that one day's pay, Levine had a box-office name for his serial.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
*as a corollary to this, there's a poster over at Althouse who's completely bug-fuck crazy about Mormons, insisting that they're a child-raping cult who are going to throw us all into the chains of Mormon doctrine once Mitt's elected. Real what's the frequency, Kenneth? weapons-grade insanity.

Hard to get into the Olympics via media post-results broadcasts...had to be there?
The Olympics are not about last time's athletes but what's happening NOW, and it would be great to see a race without commentators blahblahblah about the guy who isn't winning this time.
If the media would go figure, they'd be a lot more interesting and maybe worth watching whether covering the Olympics, or to the larger interest group of US viewers and likely voters combined, covering the Potus campaign. When pigs fly.

Bark Obama's teevee ads here in MA are big on the "Mutt Romney hates wimmins!" angle. Comparing the Redskins to the inept Cubs is badly misplaced. The Cubs have been non-champions all my life while the Redskins won three Super Bowls with 3 different QBs under HOF Joe Gibbs. Even though they haven't fared well under Snyder's ownership, he's at least turned over the running of the team to real football people and the future is bright under Shanny and RG3.

My position on Mormons is this: They have been in our country for over 100 years and have done nothing but build a state in the desert and expand their church. They do not bother anyone. The worst I can say about them is that they inflicted Donny and Marie on us. And on some of their tenets, like food storage, they look remarkably prescient, given the way food costs are going to rise.

“African Americans lack equal access to highly effective teachers and principals, safe schools, and challenging college-preparatory classes, and they disproportionately experience school discipline,” said the order, titled “White House Initiative On Educational Excellence.”

I made the mistake of asking the guy to back up his assertions, especially since I'm in Massachusetts and still manage to be able to live as a Catholic. His answer was that Massachusetts was broke specifically because of Romneycare, and that it had been designed to do that from the beginning. He also noted that Romney's church elders had "told him it was OK to say he supported abortion" while he ran for MAGOV.
Totally insane. Mormons are the new Jews.
Which reminds me of that great lyric from Tom Lehrer's song National Brotherhood Week:
Oh, the Catholics hate the Protestants,
