— Gabriel Malor Happy Tuesday.
The pace of new voter registrations is off its 2008 high in Virginia, leading the Washington Times to conclude that low Democratic enthusiasm is sapping Obama's opportunities.
“Kiss my ass, this is a holy site for the Polish people,” said Romney aide Rick Gorka in response to shouted questions from the U.S. press as Romney was visiting the Polish Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. “Show some respect.”

Good fucking riddance to one of the Repuke votes against holding Stedman in contempt over stonewalling Fast and Furious. So...we talked about Fast and Furious, the NBPP Philadelphia voter intimidation issue, GM upping their sales numbers by increasing the number of sub-prime loans, and a few other issues.
All topics that my neighbor seemed to know very few details about.

Check out the "questions" those Democrat assholes were shouting at Romney. "What about your gaffes?" asks the WaPo. Hey, jackholes, why don't you pester your dog-eating boyfriend about the 57 states he visited or where he learned to speak Austrian? The only bad thing about the story was that Romney's aide apologized after telling Politico to shove it. He should have said "When a reporter asks the governor a question, he will answer it. I haven't seen any reporters on this trip."
Meh. As Vic says, it's the doldrums. Not much for the last day of July. However, in 1915, the slapstick director Mack Sennett created what would be the second-most readily identifiable silent "image" next to the Keystone Kops - the Bathing Beauties. Designed to be eye candy, the Beauties - dressed in (for the times) sexy bathing costumes - were background attractions in many Sennett shorts as well as being used in PR shots and public appearances.
A number of women who began as Bathing Beauties graduated to their own film careers, including Juanita Hansen and Carole Lombard. Sadly, at the end of the silent era, many of those same women lost their star appeal; the most famous, perhaps, being Marie Prevost. Drug, alcohol and food addictions doomed her to poverty by the mid-Thirties, and she died of heart failure in 1937. A popular legend (repeated in the disgusting Hollywood Babylon has it that Prevost - whose body wasn't discovered until two days after she died - was eaten by her dogs.* In fact, only her legs showed bite marks, and these were from her pet dachshund, Maxie, who had been trying to wake his mistress up.
And that's it from me. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
*Songwriter Nick Lowe (Cruel To Be Kind) hat-tipped the legend in his song "Marie Prevost" with the lines "She was a winner / Who became a doggie's dinner."

Re the shipwreck myth, the article was pretty sketchy on the methodology. As far as I can tell all they do is compare the numbers for survival rates. To assume that this is really telling is stretching it. Shipwreck victims don't all just casually portion out space on the life boats as the ship gentle settles, ever so slowly, into the water. I think it's fair to say that most folks are stuck trying to survive actually IN the ocean for a while. The weaker you are, the greater the odds that you'll croak, even if given preferential treatment. Thus, children die first, and hardened sea farers die last.
As usual, sloppy work by economists - the squad that is only slightly more reliable than climatologists.

Aside, how long will the staff "enjoy" such popularity, more work at current pay? High school kids aren't the smartest or most experienced when it comes to quitting for greener (slower paced) minimum wage pastures. Hopefully, the employees appreciate working in a well organized and highly functional environment that doesn't hesitate or frustrate paychecks on schedule.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Missy Stevens is refusing all promotions and endorsements, in order to keep her amateur status. So, no Wheaties box cover for Ms Stevens, at least in the near future.
You do know what this means, of course? She is refusing income. And that, of course, affects interstate commerce - think of all those boxes of Wheaties going unsold because her picture isn't on them.
And that means that Missy Stevens is deny the government the tax income it would otherwise get from her endorsement income. Money that the government would use to feed and educate impoverished minority children.
So, do you know what this *really* means? It means that Missy Stevens, because she refuses to appear on the Wheaties box, is a *racist*!!!11!!1!

After authorities imposed unprecedented security measures on the 2012 statewide exams, test scores tumbled across Pennsylvania, The Inquirer has learned.
At some schools, Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Ronald Tomalis said, the drops are "noticeable" - 25 percent or more.

Infernal Devices - All Steamed Up
The Two Aces. Victorian London’s most salacious secret, the club is a place where erotic fantasies are played out among clockwork automatons and aether powered machines. Where nothing is off limits and the pleasures are as wicked as the imagination will allow... Permilia Deering goes to The Two Aces looking for the sexual excitement that she knows she will not find with the man to whom she is affianced, notorious cold-fish Wallace Sterling. On her first visit to the club, she meets the Ace of Spades, a masked stranger who drives her to heights of passion she’s never dreamed possible—and makes her seriously reconsider becoming a mannerly society wife. When Wallace Sterling first glimpses his fiancée standing outside The Two Aces, he assumes she’s uncovered his secret identity—the Ace of Spades. But Permilia has no idea that her intended is living a double life, and Wallace worries that he’ll be out of the picture once she gets a taste of what the Ace of Spades can offer her...

Yep - no surprise there. Libtard ethics at work, as usual. They will do anything to cover their gross failure. Especially if it enables them to do so without voicing the real truth - that inner city culture is the biggest reason for their ongoing failure. When education is seen as a form of collaboration with the "racial enemy" it tends to depress those test scores a bit.

Last year's drought in Texas is part of what is driving cattle prices. Ranchers had to slaughter a lot of cattle last year, because they couldn't afford to keep them. That means less cows to slaughter this year. Additionally, the nice rains we got earlier in the year mean that Ranchers are taking this year to rebuild their herds, so prices are going up even more.
But also inflation and ethanol.

Cumulus Radio just bought WBAP here in DFW, and one of the first things they did was re-format the morning show. It's still good, but not as good as it used to be. One of the next things they did was s-can Mark Davis (who, aside from Rush, was their main draw). I have little doubt that when it comes time to renew the syndication agreements with Rush, Hannity, and Levin, those will suddenly be "too expensive."

That happened in the Philly market. WPHT rearranged its schedule to accomodate squishes and libtards in the midday and drivetime slots. Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity: GONE.
Then a beautiful thing happened. A new station on the FM band picked up the Big Three, added Mark Levin for good measure. They have a couple local guys in the morning, haven't listened enough to determine their political leaning. So now we truly have choice. (WPHT still has some reliable local conservative guys on its schedule, mainly in the morning and buried in the 10pm slot.)

Only problem is that Sirius/XM gives you the great American Hannity in the afternoon(could be worse) but then follow him up with Mark Levin- the great one. Mike Church in the AM is a total Paulbot but speaks good Constitutional stuff. Andrew Wilkow is by far my fave in the mid-day, just wish I could listen to him more.

LINDA WERTHEIMER, HOST: So today is Poland. Why is he stopping in Poland. What does he hope to accomplish with that?
Cokie Roberts:
Well, I think part of it was a desire to portray President Obama as
something of a wimp, and say he's abandoned Eastern Europe. But look,
you remember well the Reagan Democrats. Those ethnic white voters who
had been Democrats for many years; turned out for Ronald Reagan, and
have been fairly predictable Republicans since then. Now it's a smaller
percentage of the population -- of the voting population -- than it used
to be, but white voters are still much more Republican than any other
group in the electorate. They went for McCain in 2008 by 55%. And I
think that getting those ethnic voters excited is really what Romney has
in mind here. It's more for the folks at home -- the descendents of the
people that he will be speaking to -- in Poland.

OSP- it ain't as bad as everyone says. Yes the climate is pretty awful much of the year, and sheila jackson lee. But... great restaurants, decent public spaces like Hermann Park, a good bunch of museums, Bush Int'l is a very nice airport, and no state income tax.
Check out Feast restaurant on Westheimer- their logo is a hog. You can get pig's ear cake, intestinal pretzels, roasted pork belly, roasted bone marrow, pickled lamb's tongue etc. Also, Goode & co BBQ over on Kirby has bbq sweetwater duck. Plus the cajun food is real good, due to proximity to LA as well as Katrina.
And so on.
Good luck, meng.

Oh well, looks like this thread is nearly dead...
I know it feels good in a blog comment section to tell the press to kiss your *ss, but theoretically the guy is supposed to be trying to help Mitt get elected. I fail to see how it helps to have your SPOKESMAN letting reporters being rude and disrespectful get under his skin so much as to be rude and disrespectful.
I don't care about hurting reporters feelings, so my question is, how do you demand respect from someone in a sacred place by resorting to profanity to get your point across? You either can't control YOUR emotions, or you have no idea what the word "respect" means.

I can respect your POV, BurtTC, but there is a time and place for reporters to be shouting questions and a time and place for showing some courtesy. They were visitors in a foreign country, visiting a sacred place. That's two checkmarks against them for their rudeness. I mean, just read the transcript:
CNN: "Governor Romney are you concerned about some of the mishaps of your trip?
NYT: "Governor Romney do you have a statement for the Palestinians?
Washington Post: "What about your gaffes?
NYT: "Governor Romney do you feel that your gaffes have overshadowed your foreign trip?"
CNN: "Governor Romney just a few questions sir, you haven't taken but three questions on this trip from the press!
Gorka: "Show some respect"
NYT: "We haven't had another chance to ask a question..."
Gorka: "Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect."
I see absolutely nothing wrong with that response in that context. The reporters were acting like spoiled children, and Gorka treated them as such.

I absolutely agree with what you're saying but.....what's going to be reported? That the press was being rude OR Gorka's response to them?

Worried about Ohio going blue?
Well, let's punish our enemies, shall we?
A very good start for the Romney Administration would be a national Right to Work law targeting the auto unions, laced with provisions making mandatory dues illegal for any union, public or private.
Break the unions into little, itty bitty bits.
No more worries.

Don't you find the response to their disrespect though, to have been disrespectful? Not necessarily to the reporters, I'm talking about that sacred place.
What I suspect is that the transcript may have been "edited," and that it's possible the "kiss my *ss" line didn't occur in that same sacred place, but unless and until we get a report from somebody other than THOSE reporters, we'll never really know how it transpired.
