Happy Friday.

Sen. McConnell in the Washington Times: "ItÂ’s time for Democrats to stop defending the indefensible and to join us in repealing this colossal mistake." Also, a good interview with NRO.

Romney set a GOP fundraising record last month.

Aaron Worthing (Walker) won his appeal from the idiotic, obviously unconstitutional peace order.

3 Good morning,  Gabe and morons.

I woke this morning to hear that the Indiana corn crop is 90% lost due to the drought.  This is beginning to look like the dread year 1936 (Look up how bad that year was on Wikipedia.)

It is so bad here that you don't even see insects.  I am putting out water for small mammals,  who increasingly are being hit on the roads in their desperate search for water.

5 Nice words from McConnell, but if past history is any indicator, the GOP will
flinch when the Democrats/MSM go apocalyptic on their asses.

Does anyone really believe the GOP will do anything and everything to repeal ObamaCare/RobertsCare?

7 #5  I do.  There are quite a few doctors in Congress,  and it has FINALLY dawned on the dim bulb drug and insurance companies that this is not a swell deal for them,  either.

People hate this bill.  It's full of all sorts of regulations like my friend's husband being required to wait 2 weeks before the insurance company could ok a replacement defibrillator for him.  Prices have gone up for those who do have insurance (remember,  they were promised it would go down). Doctors are taking early retirement.

I firmly believe they will repeal it if we can get them elected.

11 @5 From your lips to gods ears.

But people always say, "I'm sick and tired of government, politicians, this law, etc." but do absolutely nothing about it.

In fact, we seem to keep electing the same people over and over and over again to raise our taxes, strip us of our rights and freedoms and create new and larger bureaucracies and generally allow our country to slip farther and farther from our founding principles.

We are reaching, if we are not already there, the point of no return.

Good morning, all.  Today is the birthday (1887) of Annette Kellerman, the Australian-born swimmer who was the first woman to attempt to swim the Channel (she didn't make it).  She was also famous for designing and wearing a one piece bathing suit, which in her heyday was considered quite risque.  In 1907, she was arrested at Revere Beach in Massachusetts for public indecency while wearing the suit - pretty hysterical when you consider the bikinis and thongs infesting Revere Beach now.  And that's just the men.

In 1916, the Fox Film Corporation starred her in A Daughter of the Gods, where she appeared fully nude.  Like nearly 90% of silent films, it's lost.  Esther Williams - another acquatic honey - played her in the 1952 movie Million Dollar Mermaid.

I don't have any Esther Williams stories.  The only Hollywood story connected with water that I know off the top of my head concerns William Holden.  During the filming of Sunset Boulevard, a friend asked Holden - a well-known cocksman - if he'd bedded Gloria Swanson.  Holden replied that he'd like to, but he couldn't because her mother was always fluttering around.  When the friend sympathized with him, Holden added, "And that's not the worst.  The worst is that her mother wants to fuck me!"

Yeah, I got nothing.  Hope all you morons have a wonderful day.

17 There's no way Romney is 10 points behind in Ohio.  The JEF isn't nearly as popular in Ohio as the MFM would have you believe.  The glacier in pantsuits slattered him in the 2008 primary.  His events in Ohio have been carefully staged to only let the koolaid drinkers attend; if he ever had to face an accurate cross section if he didn't get completely booed it would be only because of people having more respect for the office.

SACRAMENTO (Reuters) - The California Senate passed a bill on Thursday that seeks to shield illegal immigrants from status checks by local police and challenges Republican-backed immigration crackdowns in Arizona and other U.S. states.

The Democrat-led state Senate voted 21 to 13 to approve the California Trust Act, dubbed by supporters as the "anti-Arizona" bill. It blocks local police from referring a detainee to immigration officials for deportation unless that person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony.

24 I have been kicking this around in my head for a while now and with this bullshit healthcare law passing the SC base on lies I can't help but thinking I am right so I wanna get you morons opinion on it. So basically the entire democrat party apparatus and the majority of their voters literally condone lying as a legitimate political tactic. This can be cited as fact referencing how they sold and passed the healthcare law. They lied about its cost, what it would do, and lie about it being or not being a tax depending on the day of the week. how the president was allowed to lie about his support of gay marriage for years with a wink wink you know I'm lying. Also the democrat party also cheats, forging votes, sueing to stop voter roll purges of illegal voters. So when are republicans going to start cheating and lying? Really, they can sit there and hold tight to their sacred honor like British red coats forming up in lines to get shot by the enemy hiding in te woods, or they can decide to do the dirty work necessary to win. To be honest if Romney came out in public and endorsed illegal immigration or "saving social security", but then would give speeches at cpac where I could be give a wink right about now I don't think Id give a fuck. Sad to say but if our political opponents can literally lie to the public saying they will do one thing, and literally keep their voter base in doing so, they will win. Why not just promise goodies to the middle while laughing like Obama as you set about destroying the social safety net for welfare leaches? I mean I'm so disgusted with everything right now I'm pretty much ready to throw decency out the window and play by the "rules" set by our opponents rather than the antiquated ideals that obviously only we respect.

Obama won Ohio by 4.6 in 2008, and we're supposed to believe his support has gone up to +10? Yeah, not buying it. Obama's margins will go down in every single state. There is no one in this country who voted for McCain who will vote for Obama this time, while many Obama voters will switch (or at least stay home.) But Obama had a pretty big cushion, and his mission will be to minimize lost voters.

And on that note, I was looking to see if any President was re-elected to a second term while winning fewer votes than in his first election. My lazy, cursory look going back to McKinley showed the answer to be "no"; every one had increased both his number of votes as well as his percentage of the vote. So, there's a bit of history working against Obama. As I said, this was a half-assed three minutes of research, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

49 #39  There are,  at last count,  22 bills relating to the jobs and the economy that are bottlenecked in the Senate due to the Head Worm,  Harry Reid.  Boehner got all of those passed.  It is the Senate that is holding things up.  As far as I know,  until the democrats in the Senate see the torch flames and pitchforks coming up Capitol Hill,  they aren't going to do a damn thing.

In order for Tea Party people to retain clout,  they have to keep pushing people who are not used to fighting.  This can be effective (example from history being Robert the Bruce who FINALLY got off his rear and drove the English out).

I think this puts too much emphasis on a number most people don't believe any more, or just ignore.  No matter what the new number, it doesn't matter that much.  Real unemployment is still on our side, and Romney just needs to hammer it all home.  The time for the propaganda blitz is that last month of the campaign, with a focus on the last couple weeks.  The lame-brained squishes in the middle can't remember anything for more than a few days at a time.  Pound Obastard hard at the end, go full negative and rip him apart, and then win.

That's the right strategy.  For now it's time to build up the positives Mitt has to offer.  Build the image of the competent, business-like guy who will not make a lot of sudden moves.  Make people feel safe with Mitt.  Make Mitt look like the winner he is.  Then bash our current worthless loser prez in the final weeks and stir up all the disgust, discontent, and animosity possible.

"Its a slum from end to end due to piss poor local government and dirt poor residents for the past 50+ years. Not surprising its a dem haven."

You are both unarguably correct on this point- grew up in the Detroit area, and Toledo was always the grimy 'tard cousin of Detroit that ate boogers and didn't have any nice stuff. And had a crummy hot dog stand and t.v.'s Jamal Farouk (Klinger, woo).

But the aim here is to denigrate the earflapped queen of the sand traps- truth in this case is merely an accidental occurrence- or not.

C'mon, if dumbocrats can craft a narrative, so can I. And being a conservative, I am by definition more creative and intelligent... so my stories will be better.

Poll: Obama leads Romney by 18 points in California

President Barack Obama maintains a double-digit edge over Republican Mitt Romney in California heading into the summer months, leading 55 percent to 37 percent among likely voters, according to a Field Poll released today.

You know, just giving the Dems 20% of the electoral votes they need to win every four years is probably a bad idea.

87 Mr Pink

Truth is a two-edged sword that cuts both ways. The truth shall set you free. Honesty is the best policy. O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!

Nothing more effective in debate than using solid, truthful evidence as one's foundation.

Propagate Truth. Reiterate truth as standard. Carry proof of truth to disperse the lie. Especially re: ObamaCare costs to those earning under $50K -- converse without argument pulling up Google's own calculation website to prove the individual's cost figures. Those who believed in the hopeychange lie will be disillusioned with the lie and turn hard against the liar, of their own free will. And they won't be silenced.

Matthew 7: 24-29
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."  When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

88 NY SLIMES - Economists are slashing their already tepid growth forecasts. The unemployment rate seems stuck at around 8 percent. It is a tense time for the American economy. It is also the time that some experts believe the countryÂ’s undecided voters are beginning to cement their presidential picks.

That is why many political scientists and consultants consider Friday’s jobs report and the ones immediately following it to be so important — perhaps more so than those of the previous three years.

“I don’t know whether it is because American voters are myopic, or because they are forward-looking,” said Andrew Gelman, the director of the Applied Statistics Center at Columbia University. “But they appear to care most about change in the economy in the year preceding the election,” rather than the state of the economy over an incumbent president’s first four years.

Well Andy the economy has been in shit shape since Barry Ojobscreatedandsaved took office. So exactly what is the difference between the last 4 years and now?

You can already feel Romney's momentum (if he had any) badly slipping away. And, don't forget, the public was evenly split on whether the last terrible jobs number was good or bad. Mitt is being defined as the "outsourcer" and isn't fighting back at all, instead deciding to sit on the back of a jet ski. Anything other than another really bad number and the media will spin this as just more good news for Obama. A good number and we're looking at Clinton vs. Bob Dole levels of Obama invincibility vs Romney.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. employers added only 80,000 jobs in June, a third straight month of weak hiring that shows the economy is struggling.

The Labor Department says the unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.2 percent.

The economy has added just 75,000 jobs a month in the April-June quarter. That's one-third of 226,000 a month created in the first quarter. Job creation is also trailing last year's pace through the first six months of 2012.

A weaker job market has made consumers less confident. They have pulled back on spending, even though gas prices have plunged.

High unemployment could shift momentum to Mitt Romney, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. An Associated Press-GfK poll released last month found that more than half of those surveyed disapproved of President Barack Obama's handling of the economy.

This won't be revised downward for a month.

Ah.  Sorry.

139 So all the angst regarding the Ohio polls.  I'm starting to get the feeling that a number of them are being purposely spun to bring shift the RCP average toward Obama.

As I asked CAC last week, can anyone name one single poll that is reliably oversampling Republicans?

No problem, I can wait...

Still looking? No problem...

Yeah, like I said, if the only one you can even consider naming is Rasmussen, who has one of the best historical accuracy ratings, then clearly the averages are being skewed in one direction.  It's just math.

In 2008 I spent almost the entire campaign season in Los Angeles. At this point in the process, the Obama bumperstickers could be found on every 10th or 20th car.  I was in LA last week and driving all over for 5 days straight.  I didn't see a single Obama 2012 sticker.  Not on Wilshire, not in Santa Monica, not in Orange County, not even on the 91 and 105 as I skirted Compton.

But Obama has increased his 2008 support in Ohio by 5 points?  Color me skeptical.

140 (CNBC) - The U.S. economy created just 80,000 jobs in June and the unemployment rate held steady at 8.2 percent, reflecting continued slow growth in the economy with the presidential election just four months away.

Spin it as slow growth. If Romney was president the world would be coming to an end

There were a few bright spots: The overall work week edged higher by 0.1 hour to 34.5 hours and average hourly earnings grew 6 cents to $23.50.

6 cent an hour increase!!!!!! Thank you Barry!!! I'm going to Disneyland!!!!!

141 I was just in Vegas and the tv is filled with Obama ads in the morning with zero ads from Mitt.

You're an idiot.  I'd say you're a f*cking idiot, but for evolution's sake, I hope that's not the case.

Vegas was never going to go Republican anyway.  The rest of the State might, but Vegas won't.  If Obama is flooding the airwaves in Vegas before Labor Day, it means he has a serious problem.

We're not talking political adds in Missouri or Kansas, we're talking about adds targeting his base.  He's having to spend money (on top of not raising very much) just to get his base back on board.  Barack Obama spending money in Vegas, Michigan, and the North East are good things for us.  Especially this early.

Then add in 80,000 jobs created last month?  That's roughly a quarter of what we need just to maintain for population growth, which means just since last month there are 240,000 more Americans looking for work have haven't found any at the start of this month than there were at the start of last month.

142 I can't wait for the spin on this. How about this:

Only 80,000 jobs were added because Mitt Romney outsourced the rest of them.

Heh, for Preezy's press conference this morning, let's hope he again says something like "The private sector is doin' fine."

In fact, Romney needs to creaet an ad every month with that quote from him when the unemployment numbers come out. Just keep hammering that point home.

#122 - It is early July.  Nobody but inside the beltway types are paying attention.  People won't start paying real attention until after the Olympics and the conventions.  The Jet Ski thing was the MSM playing their role of unofficial Obamas campaign workers.   As noted above the economy is not getting better, Romney looks like he won't be dramatially outspent like McCain was, and he is not going to sit back and take it the way McCain did.  And the history of being the first american american president in '08 is going to be replaced by one of the worst presidential records ever in '12.

Could Romney lose? sure but an objective view is that he is in a good position to win this thing

146  91, Mitt is being defined as the "outsourcer" and isn't fighting back at all ...

Mitt believes in outsourcing. And Mitt is a devout Keynesian. Don't hold your breath waiting for Mitt to deny what he believes, as with RomneyCare's resilience despite Mass. bankrupted hospitals.

2008 Mitt's lost campaign rhetoric included his line to woo the manufacturing workforce that their highly skilled jobs are gone and not coming back. "Kiss them goodbye!" He promised to maintain socialist employment figures via unification of corporations with government contracts for big government. Meanwhile, he only advised that people get a "good job" -- stocking shelves at Staples, or tending children at Bright Horizons. Or go into debt returning to school as if to improve your lot given the unemployed college graduates already flooding America, not to mention the immigrants, skilled and not, legal and illegal made extra-legal, and Mitt's own malleable enabling of amnesty for illegals.

Mitt has his views. If he could not predict the outcomes of Obama's administration from the onset 2008 "fire in the belly" (AWOL), now he's had FOUR MORE YEARS to go figure the right tone and the right words to Win America with the work ethic and structural design to BUILD. Vacation or not, the "vision" is absent. And following personal vacation with globe trotting only props up the international player image as a neoconservative, which vote is already his base, not leaving him. So long as Mitt's team consists of Bush III, the end.

Regarding propaganda, when left in ignorance, given no means to either substantiate or disprove, people will grasp the most outlandish story. WWII GARBO the spy counters Occam's razor.

But wisdom is proved right by her actions.

At least Mitt didn't need to be airbrushed like Obama's boney ass 2008 photoshop 6-pack abs on the beach.

He's doing the same thing in the solid Democrat Wilkes-Barre - Scranton area. When you have to run a heavy ad campaign this early -- in a Democrat stranglehold -- you've got major problems.

I hate to say it, Pink, but to answer your question in brief, it's almost like they're playing good cop/bad cop with us. Republicans all universally rejected BambiScare, yet they had just enough votes to let it out of committee. In an astonishing coincidence, they also had just enough votes to ratify it at the Court level.

Elected Republicans also stayed incredibly quiet while the Demons ran roughshod over everything those first two years (I got reamed for pointing this out one other time, but it is absolutely true). The budget, the spending, the health bs. The deafening silence is what startled me, and woke me up to the fact that those people who have long claimed that both parties are happy expanding power over our lives (they just play games with who carries the ball at what time) are not uniformly crazy.

Yes. And perhaps free airtime "donated" despite. Reid didn't get barely re-elected without his own contributors with deep pockets and vested interests.

Are there still those insisting better Reid than allowing the likes of the Bible blonde Angle into the Senate as a Republican?

157 And with all the money Romney is raising, where are the response ads to the outsourcing charge? I was just in Vegas and the tv is filled with Obama ads in the morning with zero ads from Mitt. This is another terrible campaign and a lack of funds can't be used as an excuse.

Again - fighting hard now against every little sting is pointless, especially in Dem strongholds.  Those people are unfixably stupid to begin with and cannot be won over.  Only the independent areas matter.  Win the squishes, which can only be done late in the campaign when those fools make their ill-informed choices.

As for riding the back of a jetski, is that really even a thing?  Who actually knows about that?  Who's going to be petty enough to try to make some issue of it?  Preznit mom-jeans?  I think not.  If he wants to go to war over who is the more effeminate, I think that's a battle we should be eager to fight.  Obie doesn't exactly project masculine charisma.  He may like to thrust his chin out like a Musollini, but he doesn't have the testosterone to pull off the heroic-leader thing.

163 grew up in the Detroit area, and Toledo was always the grimy 'tard cousin of Detroit that ate boogers and didn't have any nice stuff.

Yeah, you've been saying that since Hudson's was still standing.

My symphony just played Carnegie Hall to rave reviews. Yours? Tits up.
My art museum will have the Manet tour this fall. Yours? Tits up.
Want to talk zoos? You're living in yours.

Despite Columbus' best efforts, Toledo is still making money.
Oh, but I miss the point. You left Detroit, didn't you. And still feel, somehow, vaguely superior? You gave up and ran away. Loser.

Do most things suck? Sure. It's...a city. You need to get over the notion that there's a Magic City somewhere that you can move to and be made whole by the experience. Cities are a lot of fucking work.

167 What do Brad Pitt and his mom share in common?
A squinted left eye. But not the same views.

Brad Pitt has long been an outspoken champion of gay rights. Pitt once told Ellen DeGeneres, "IÂ’ve said that we would not be getting married until everyone in this country had the right to get married."

THAT is the lamest, dopiest excuse for failing the commitment and doesn't sound better with repetition.

Try: We will not live in a mansion until everyone in this country has a mansion. We will not fly privately until everyone in this country has their own jet. Angelina will not inject her lips with fat until everyone in this country has fat lips.
