Happy Monday.

The Supreme Court is still leaking like crazy, if this unsourced report-cum-analysis is any indication. The Chief Justice's late switch in the Obamacare case, along with his attempt to strong-arm Justice Kennedy into switching too, looks to leave long-term problems. BTW, I never understood why people were claiming that these leaks came from the liberals or from liberal clerks. This is very obviously coming from the conservative wing of the court, which is seriously, perhaps irrecoverably, pissed off at the Chief Justice.

President Obama will give a Rose Garden speech today calling for extending the Bush tax cuts for another year, but only for people making less than $250,000. As you know, the GOP is pushing to permanently extend the Bush tax cuts for all Americans. Each time Obama went up against the GOP on this before, he caved and approved the tax cuts for all, but only after lying his ass off about it.

The Romney camp raised $106.1 million last month and has $160 million cash on hand. The Obama folks haven't released their June numbers, but Democrats say that Obama was out-raised, just like in May. The interesting number would be Obama's expenses. Even though he's been making taxpayer-funded trips to avoid paying full cost for travel, the word is that Obama's already spending more than he's taking in.

Wait, people think this is coming from the left wing? I've assumed two things: first - that these leaks are coming from Kennedy and/or Scalia, possibly even directly and two - that this has fundamentally altered the relationship of the justices no matter who is leaking as leaks like this are unheard of.

I've also been pondering the decision more and the more I ponder, the more convinced I become that this didn't actually decide anything.  The Roberts argument, such as it is, is that the mandate is constitutional under the taxing authority.  That is different than saying explicitly that it is a tax.  Now, there may be such an explicit statement in the decision as I haven't reread it.  But if not, then I think there may be grounds for a dec action by some entity having to start implementing the 2014 requirements now to say "well, yes or no, is it a tax?"  I admit that this is because I want the Obama admin to have to go on record and explicitly state that this is a tax.  Not that there still won't be those Dems who say it's not, but still.

meh.. even if they admit it is a tax.. it is only a tax on what they term "freeloaders".  There are a lot of voters, even conservatives, who will feel sympathetic to that.

It's really not much of a winning argument.

Posted by: Gregory of Yardale at July 09, 2012 03:48 AM (aGX9l)

30 24 - I think that's one reason it's a particularly rotten decision. Sort of like OJ's book about "IF" I killed Nicole... Dread Justice Roberts is saying "IF" this was a tax... which effectively makes it a tax, but he's too chicken***t to come out and say it.

Posted by: BurtTC at July 09, 2012 03:51 AM (2pG7H)

31 I am leaning towards Crawford's source being Kennedy or one of his clerks and the cynic in me feels the leaks are not entirely due to anger at Roberts. In terms of the leaks resulting from anger, the leaks (true or not) emphasize Kennedy's role in the process. It was said that Kennedy was visibly angry over the decision to uphold ObamaCare and we know he felt strongly enough about this case to read the dissent. As for a secondary motive, I could see Kennedy using this as an opportunity to redeem himself. It it also not far-fetched to believe ego is playing a role in all this.

I agree that this decision has fundamentally altered the relationships on the SCOTUS. We do have legal scholars on the bench, and ignoring the unconstitutionality of the decision, it was a poorly crafted, illogical and inconsistent legal argument. It has tarnished the reputation of a court that is reeling from recent bad decisions (Kelo). I am sure that at least two of the justices are embarrassed!

As for the non-decision decision aspect? Nah, the law stands, and that means that we are well and truly fucked unless Romney wins and promptly signs a repeal...and then unleashes the market in health care.

39 We have other universal service things that the government has imposed along with fees and or taxes, and they are not challenged on Constitutionality. Electricity and phone service. But the government makes those utilities make it available to you - they don't require you to buy the product, only that you have the option. Universal service increases liberty because it increases your choices. ACA reduces your choices. Because if you don't buy it, you get "taxed." That doesn't make any sense.

41 As per my post of earlier this week, they're still talking on the talk shows about Romney being down by 9 in the swing states like OH, with calls to retool the campaign and get a positive message out about Romney's economic plan.  40% think Obama has one, while only 27% think Romney does.  How one could arrive at that conclusion is absolutely beyond me, but there it is.

I think Romney has a simplified version of his 59-point plan in the can, and is just waiting until what he perceives as the correct time to deploy it.

64 Roberts will famously go down in history as one of the most loathsome, cowardly justices. But it does not stop there. The SCOTUS has lost an incredible amount of respect and legitimacy with a majority of the public whom it serves.

This won't subside. It will only get worse for Roberts and the court. Most people no longer trust or has any confidence in their judgment.

Roberts decisions and the reason for doing so have nothing to do with the law. Any laymen reading his contra-intellectual opinion along with other expert constitutional  analysis can determine for themselves his opinion has nothing to do with our Constitution.

Roberts decision is nothing but abject stupidity and politics from an unelected branch of our government. Not only has Roberts disgraced the court and distorted its constitutional role, but he has displayed it is no longer a trusted, impartial constitutional arbiter. He has completed the liberal dream of a shadow government that uses the law to dilute and effectively amend our Constitution by extraordinary means.

People vote their pocketbooks.  Come November the voters are going to vote for the party they think will put the most money in their pocket.

For conservatives that means voting for those that propose less government, enabling you to keep more of your heard-earned money.

For moochers that means voting for more government.  Moochers include, but are not limited to welfare recipients, government employees (but I repeat myself), government contractors, teachers, union members, government contractors, and spouses of all the above.  Add in 90+% of the black population voting for Obama, plus most of the Hispanic vote and we get an enormous voting bloc for Obama and his fellow travelers.

80 File Under Gun Control

When I had my gangrene gallbladder taken out and spent 10 days in the hospital for what should have been an overnight stay the insurance company kicked me out. I had home nurse visits for two weeks and was asked if I had guns in the house.

I respond that if I did I would not tell them. So the below has some merit. FYI, I am passing this along...there are comments from two other people I have also been asked if we keep guns in the house. The nurse just slipped it in along with all the other regular questions.

I told her I refused to answer because it was against the law to ask. Everyone whether you have guns or not, should give a neutral answer so they have no idea who does and who doesn't. My doctor asked me if I had guns in my house and also if any were loaded. I, of course, answered yes to both questions.

Then he asked why I kept a loaded gun close to my bed. I answered that my son, who is a certified gun instructor and also works for Homeland Security, advised me that an unloaded, locked up gun is no protection against criminal attack. The Government now requires these questions be asked of people on Medicare, and probably everyone else.

Just passing this along for your information: I had to visit a doctor other than my regular doctor when my doctor was on vacation.  One of the questions on the form I had to fill out was: Do you have any guns in your house?? My answer was none of your damn business!! So it is out there! It is either an insurance issue or government intervention.

Either way, it is out there and the second the government gets into your medical records (as they want to under Obama care) it will become a major issue and will ultimately result in lock and load!! Please pass this on to all the other retired guys and gun owners...Thanks, from a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Officer: I had a doctorÂ’s appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along.

While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions:

1. Did I feel stressed?

2. Did I feel threatened?

3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?

The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.

It looks like they are going after the vets first. Other gun people like retired law enforcement will probably be next. Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have? Be forewarned and be aware.

The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun ownerÂ’s potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner, veteran or not,

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

If you know veterans and gun owners, please pass this on to them. Be very cautious about what you say and to whom.

83 In this horseshit AP 'investigative report', little old ladies lost their right to vote due to mean ole voter ID laws:

http://tinyurl.com/c8aunsz (yahoo link)

When Edward and Mary Weidenbener went to vote in Indiana's primary in May, they didn't realize that state law required them to bring government photo IDs such as a driver's license or passport.

The husband and wife, both approaching 90 years old, had to use a temporary ballot that would be verified later, even though they knew the people working the polling site that day. Unaware that Indiana law obligated them to follow up with the county election board, the Weidenbeners ultimately had their votes rejected — news to them until informed recently by an Associated Press reporter.

This 'report', which focuses on rejected affidavit ballots, then states that very few of the ballots were fraudulent. Thus, they say, the ID laws do nothing more than disenfranchise legitimate voters. But they are trying to prove a negative. How many fraudulent votes were NOT even attempted once the need for ID was put in place? Would a fraud voter be willing to go that extra step and fill out an affidavit ballot, knowing it leaves a prosecutable paper trail behind and will be probably rejected anyhow? Yeah, I think not.

I'm sure that some people didn't get their votes counted. I'm also sure that every effort was made to warn voters via PSMs, signs, news articles etc. about the new requirements. If you are paying that little attention to the world around you, should you even be voting? Personal responsibility is such a bitch. Go hang a chad somewhere.

Still, this news will get some traction I think as it furthers the narrative of the evil GOP taking away the peeeple's right to vote. Hey AP, howsabout a hard hitting investigation into disenfranchised military voters? It happens every Presidential election and involves slimy tricks by state SOSs to prevent actual voters trying to follow the rules from having their votes count.

Right after you do that AP, you can remove your dork from your squeakhole.

Just a quick SAT question here.

Given a consideration of the platforms of the two parties, after the November 2012 election which party is more likely to cut spending?

A.  Republican
B.  Democrat

92 FREDERICK, Md. — Katie Marks-McAuley’s husband proposed on a Saturday. The couple married on a beach the following Wednesday — just a few days before her groom deployed to Afghanistan. The short engagement didn’t leave much time for wedding planning. “It was on the beach, so I just wore a sun dress,” Marks-McAuley said of her hastily thrown together nuptials in March 2011. The couple will have a reception in August. One thing Marks-McAuley won’t have to worry about just happens to be among the biggest components of any bride’s big day. She picked out her dress, a sleek, simple halter gown Wednesday at TLC Bridal Boutique, on North Market Street in downtown Frederick. Quite possibly the best part about the dress was the cost. Marks-McAuley didn’t spend a dime. She benefited from TLC Bridal Boutique’s participation in Brides Across America, a national program that makes free gowns available to military brides who are facing a deployment of their own or their fiance’s. As of Monday, TLC Bridal owner Terry L. Warfield had about 90 gowns — many of which were samples that are being discontinued by manufacturers — set aside to give away. She estimates they cost her as much as $95,000. Warfield said she hopes to have about 100 gowns for a giveaway event planned at the shop July 10. In order to participate, brides must provide military identification and a deployment number. “Most brides know it like it’s their social security number,” Warfield said of the number. The national program began in 2007 and, so far, about 5,000 dresses have been given away, according to the website.

99 The more I think about the ObamaCare decision, the less I understand it. We have an intellectually bright Chief Justice who prides himself on his writing and logic crafting a poorly written, inconsistent argument regarding the mandate as a tax. As for motivation, while Roberts has sometimes overly focused on the legitimacy of the Court, it has not stopped him from overturning laws. Also, while we know that the liberals ran a campaign against the conservatives on the Court and Roberts in particular in the hopes that it would turn his vote, the last time they tried this tactic (over Citizens United), the Chief Justice was offended*, not intimidated. Finally, as for arguments that Roberts has always secretly been a liberal, the people who know him best said/say he is conservative and my understanding is that his opinions usually sound conservative. So his decision is somewhat in-character yet out-of-character. *http://youtu.be/ARV_eHsyaHo

These Supreme Court leaks are unprecedented. I can't recall anything like this. It underscores the anger at Roberts. And it is almost certainly not a clerk, because clerk to a Supreme Court justice is the most prized law-school graduate job in America, a ticket to anywhere, and no one would jeopardize it. The leak is almost certainly Kennedy himself. If anything good comes of this debacle, it may be the conservative steeling of Kennedy.  Another thing to take is perhaps Alito is solid, as apparently no one tried to flip him. (Scalia and Thomas, of course, have long confirmed their conservative bona fides.)

As for the campaign, I have to agree with the assessment of The Hill: Romney has a stronger hand, but Obama is playing his weaker hand better. $100 million on hand? What are we saving up for? I keep hearing that Obama's 'likability' numbers are high. Well, let's get them down, and that is only done through negative ads. Or is Romney going to emulate the McCain punching-bag 'lose with honor' campaign.

As for the non-decision decision aspect? Nah, the law stands, and that means that we are well and truly fucked unless Romney wins and promptly signs a repeal...and then unleashes the market in health care.

What I'm trying to get at with the non-decision decision aspect is that, by leaving open wriggle room for the Obama administration to say that it's a penalty and not a tax and then turn around and say it's a tax and not a penalty, that opens the door to further litigation. If it is a tax, then that possibly brings to bear additional issues regarding the manner in which the bill was passed, possible equal protection challenges and a whole host of other issues.  We got into a fight here last week about a Romney advisor saying hey it's not a tax.  He has a point.  If the Dems want to go out there and say it's not a tax, then, pursuant to the Roberts opinion, the mandate falls as unconstitutional.  The fact that there's still an argument about this demonstrates the complete intellectual incoherence of the opinion.

I will freely admit that this is somewhat dancing on the head of a pin and mainly just me being bitchy about how very few members of the press are confronting the Dems about how if its not a tax then the mandate must fall.  OTOH, if I were counsel for an insurance company, I would give serious consideration to filing some type of declaratory judgment action as the company is having to spend a metric fuckton of money to comply with something that the Obama administration is saying both is and is not constitutional.

(CNN Money) Don't spend that unemployment check too fast. The government might ask you to pay it back.

Overpayments are a rampant problem in the unemployment insurance system. The federal government and states overpaid an estimated $14 billion in benefits in fiscal 2011, or roughly 11% of all the jobless benefits paid out, according to reports from the U.S. Labor Department.

Ryan Greminger, 36, of Richmond, Ind. collected unemployment benefits while serving two years in a county jail for a drug-related crime.

Vice President Joe Biden is charged with leading the Campaign to Cut Waste, an initiative started last year that aims to cut overpayments at federal agencies.

"Unemployment checks are going to people in prison. Unemployment checks are going to graveyards," Biden said in September.

121 More junk science from NASA:

Studies refute report of arsenic-loving bacteria

It was a provocative finding: strange bacteria in a California lake that thrived on something completely unexpected -- arsenic. What it suggested is that life, a very different kind of life, could possibly exist on some other planet.

The research, published by a leading scientific journal in 2010, led to overheated speculation about how life might exist elsewhere -- and quickly some dissent about the original finding.

On Sunday, that same journal, Science, released two papers that rip apart the original research. They "clearly show" that the bacteria can't use arsenic as the researchers claimed, said an accompanying statement from the journal.

The saga began when scientists led by Felisa Wolfe-Simon of NASA's Astrobiology Institute published a paper that said the bacteria, found at Mono Lake in eastern California,  The researchers had looked at Mono Lake because of its high arsenic levels, and they reported their conclusions from lab experiments

Because words mean something Mama AJ.  A 'tax' is a tax.  A 'penalty' is a penalty.  As a practical concern, a tax can not be 'double taxed' - and thus must be paid with pre-tax dollars - hence, if I'm reading it right, you're eventually looking at a new deduction from your paycheck while those who aren't collecting a paycheck will get it 'paid for' and the amount that was 'paid' refunded to them from those who were taxed.  Which you know...more fun stuff for morons that work.  "Here's some healthcare...oh, and a nice annual Christmas fund, on us."

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says the odds of Republicans taking over the Senate after November's elections and him becoming the new majority leader are "50-50." McConnell is not predicting a sweep for Democrats or Republicans in the fall Senate elections. With 50 seats needed to take control, McConnell says "at the end of the day, we will have a very narrow Senate one way or the other."

The comments came Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."

If you had "we've got a majority -- but too narrow a majority" in the Beltway Republican excuse pool, you win.

Still seeing plenty of "re-elect the choomer" stickers here is MA, of course. The delusions are strong here....

Also seeing Bark Obama's lying ads on TV, too. Often they're shown between the free Obama ads -- news programs out of Boston and NYC -- but the slimy sonofabitch bought time during the NASCAR race on Saturday night. That's going too friggin' far.

The big advantage for the SCoaMF is that his lies are simplistic, and are told to people who are predisposed to believe them. Refuting them, as some Repub "experts" are calling for, requires viewers to use brain cells they people don't have.

But it's past time to get rough on the Traitor-in-Chief. The stakes are too high to "attack" him the "Poppin' Fresh" way, by giggling and tittering at his minor gaffes. That doesn't work, and doesn't begin to address the magnitude of his felonies.

All of them. It came up when we were discussing my migraines and how I once apparently knocked myself out or passed out because I was in the bathroom throwing up and came to some undetermined time later wedged between the toilet and the bathtub.  This happened early on a Saturday morning.  That was one of the few times I was actually scared to be living alone since if something happened no one would be there to help me and no one would have known anything was wrong until a few days later when I didn't show up for work.  She said yup and how she pointed out to all her patients who lived alone, regardless of age, that they needed to have someone(s) who would be concerned if they didn't hear from them via text, phone, facebook, twitter, whatever, every day.  As she said, anyone can slip in the tub and smash their head.  It's one of those things that single people who aren't 80 don't think about.

178 Israel has long faced the scorn of Islamists. Iran's Ahmadinejad has sworn over and again to wipe them off the map, supporter's of Egypt's new president have talked of conquering Israel and making Jerusalem the capital of Egypt, and Palestinians have taken opportunity after opportunity to fire a rocket into the Jewish state and stir things up. But it looks like Israel is going to have share the Islamist's scorn with Christians, at least for a time. For a group with ties to the United Muslim Nations International has released a 23 page booklet titled, "The Global Islamic Civilization: The Power of a Nation Revived." And in it, they put forth plans to "wipe Christianity from the face of the earth." Sheik Farook al-Mohammedi, the leader of the group, has made his intentions clear: "Christianity should be destroyed and wiped from the face of the earth [because] it is an evil, demonic and Anti-Christ system" He added: "The Revived Global Caliphate has set eyes on the West to once and for all rid the world of Christianity and there is nothing you can do about it." And in other news, President Obama has spent his presidency telling us that Islamists and Westerners share so much in common: that our differences are minimal but our desires, our hopes and dreams, are so similar. I guess Obama hasn't read "The Global Islamic Civilization" yet.

215 34Romney up by three!

And yet pontificators whine about Romney's strategy.  Romney should do this, Romney should do that, etc...

Right now Romney has played Obama into spending early much of his campaign cash.  Romney knows that the economy is not going to get better by fall.  When Fall comes, Romney will have a huge war chest in which to hammer Obama and all Obama will have is the left wing media - which helps but will not be enough.

Manstein told Hitler he had to give him the flexibilty to give up land to the Soviets so that he could practice maneuver warfare against them.  Hitler refused and the Soviets crushed the Nazis (a good news bad news sort of thing).  Many pundits are trying to play the role of a short sighted Hitler and have Romney spend big to stop Obama now.  Problem is that now is not the election - I hope Romney plays it cool and sticks to his plan.  The nervous nellies are not thinking to clearly on this (including Obama).  So let Obama spend his campaign cash the way he spends our money - wastefully.

And the ads, to use a cliche, write themselves.

I'm not talking about boring refutations of recycled WaPoo stories. A little homework, and a few minutes with a calculator, will get the job done.

For example: take the money spent on the GM bailout, divide it by the number of cars sold, and ask: "Did you buy a new GM car? Here's what it really cost.... And if you didn't, here's what it cost you anyway."

Or: "Obama says he's being outspent on the campaign trail. Here's what his campaign trips have cost you, even if you didn't donate to him...."

Or (and this is the way I'd go): "here are the Constitutional provisions and federal laws Obama has violated since 2008...."

Simple is best. Prove that the Choomer-in-Chief is a treasonous, over-spending America-hater. It can be done, if anyone has the balls to do it*.

* I'm guessing that excludes Mutt Romney, Repub "leaders" in general, and the "conservative" media.

226 Good news:

Two-thirds of likely voters say President Obama has kept his 2008 campaign promise to change America — but it’s changed for the worse, according to a sizable majority.

A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe ObamaÂ’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership.

The results signal broad voter unease with the direction the nation has taken under ObamaÂ’s leadership and present a major challenge for the incumbent Democrat as he seeks reelection this fall.

236 From WorldNut Daily:

Obama's 'missing year' at Columbia found?
Clearinghouse claims its reports were wrong, transcript still under wraps

Two separate database reports from the National Student Clearinghouse last year that contradicted President ObamaÂ’s claim he attended Columbia University for two years added to the intrigue generated by ObamaÂ’s unwillingness to discuss his time at the Ivy League institution, his block on the release of educational records, and the many political science students and faculty there in the early 1980s who say they donÂ’t remember him.

Swirling amid the black hole of information are a host of theories about Obama’s whereabouts – particularly during the 1981-1982 school year – including speculation he was working for the CIA in Pakistan.
...
Janine Greenwood, vice president and general counsel for the clearinghouse, told WND there was a “computer error” in their system that has been corrected. She said she confirmed with Columbia that Obama was at the university for two academic years, not one.

Greenwood said she “tried to untangle this” discrepancy one year ago after two “DegreeVerify certificates” from the Herndon, Va.-based clearinghouse –obtained through a fee-based request – indicated Obama attended Columbia College at Columbia University only in the 1982-1983 academic year, from Sept. 1, 1982 until May 31, 1983, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree May 17, 1983.

“All I know is [the record] was right originally, and somewhere along the line it went off the rails, and then it was right again,” she said.

Given Obama's history, this could be true.

It's very difficult to attend an institution for only one year and receive a degree as generally you have to do all of your classes for your major concentration at that institution.  This is why a lot of transfer students end up spending another semester or year in the transfer college/university as the transfer place, while accepting the person, doesn't accept the credit earned at the previous institution and, even if they do, they still require for the most part, all credits from the major concentration to be on their watch.

Will his plan to carpet bomb Obama shortly before the election work, probably.  As long as Mitt keeps out raising BO and BO keeps spending his campaign funds the way he spends our money, Romney will be able to lunch a large offensive against a cash strapped Obama campaign in the Fall.

The unfortunate thing for conservatives is that we have a sense of humor (unlike leftists), but at the same time we have     the ability to utilize rational thought (also unlike leftists).   So we can see how everything that should go right could so easily go wrong, and we know that very few people outside of our circle of blogs and rightwing media will ever pay attention.

Hence the Eeyore-ness.

Which is a shame, because Eeyore was always my favorite Winnie the Pooh character.  I hate having to use him for such an unpleasant purpose.

Mittens was able to clobber his GOP front-runner opponents by going heavily negative as soon as they emerged.

If he wins, just remember that you are getting the "everything's fine, nothing that policies favoring our traditional financial and big business constituencies can't fix" wing of the GOP.

The rot will still be there, and we'll need a Tea Party Congress if we ever hope to stop the train from going off the cliff.

France's government has sold short-term bonds at negative interest rates for the first time, a sign of investor confidence despite concerns about French debts and the wider eurozone.

Despite the dropping rates, France's economic outlook is stagnant. President Francois Hollande said Monday that growth in the first half of this year is expected to be "nil."

Yahoo whistles past the graveyard:

With 'freedom' in fashion, is libertarianism back?
...
Something's going on in America this election year: a renaissance of an ideal as old as the nation itself — that live-and-let-live, get-out-of-my-business, individualism vs. paternalism dogma that is the hallmark of libertarianism.
...
There are questions of how all of that might affect the choice of a GOP vice presidential candidate and the Republican Party platform.

But what looms are far larger questions about whether an America fed up with government bans and government bailouts — with government, period — is seeing a return to its libertarian roots.

347 America Has Too Many Teachers

Public-school employees have doubled in 40 years while student enrollment has increased by only 8.5%—and academic results have stagnated.

President Obama said last month that America can educate its way to prosperity if Congress sends money to states to prevent public school layoffs and "rehire even more teachers." Mitt Romney was having none of it, invoking "the message of Wisconsin" and arguing that the solution to our economic woes is to cut the size of government and shift resources to the private sector. Mr. Romney later stated that he wasn't calling for a reduction in the teacher force—but perhaps there would be some wisdom in doing just that.

Sometimes being a conservative is Like Ripley on the Doomed Space Ship the Nastromo in Alien the Movie.

This makes me think of something I've been pondering for a while.

Everyone knows how the original "Dawn of the Dead" was supposed to    have the hidden message about the negative results of America's consumer culture, hence why the zombies were all attacking the survivors in the MALL, etc, etc.   Personally I just like it because I like zombie movies, but whatevs.

It occurs to me that, since zombies are popular now more than ever, the Horde could write a pretty damn good movie (or book)    with the underlying theme being how the leech mentality of the welfare state will be the downfall of   all civilizations.    The healthy and robust are inevitably overrun and consumed by the wragged, mangy hordes that have no focus other than their own satiation.   Cowards    throw their    courageous brethren to the zombie masses in an attempt to stave off their own    death at the hands of the mindless, shambling dead, but its like    feeding the animals in a National Park.  They know you'll give them easy meat, and so instead of being satisfied with what they're given, they come on doubly strong in search of more, more, MORE.

I have no screenwriting experience, but tell me that doesn't make a helluva lot more    thematic    sense than zombies attacking a mall as a critique of consumerism.

The lie was in reporting the fictitious March 23, 2003, gunfight so prominently, refusing to correct the error clearly, and letting President Bush and the Pentagon take the blame, with sinister motives attached, for issuing the false story.

Well, now we're hearing The Washington Post has sunk even deeper to cover up its chronic dishonesty. A few weeks ago, according to W. Joseph Campbell who has been following the scandal, it erased the story and the story's headline from its website. The Post gave no explanation.

I BELIEVE the figures are $250,000 individual, $275,000 per household.   I trust a more educated 'ron or 'ronette will correct me if this is wrong.

Of course, the MFM doesn't bother to make the distinction because by golly, don't they know that people who make a few hundred thousand a year are MILLIONAIRES?  Except themselves, of course.

362 Politico reports it as "taxpayers" (which sounds like individs, not households): President Barack Obama will Monday spark a new partisan battle over taxes and spending, calling on Congress to extend the George W. Bush-era tax cuts for one year on taxpayers making less than $250,000. But even lading Congressional Democrats, including Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), have diverged from what the president is now proposing. They prefer letting the tax cuts lapse only on incomes over $1 million — not $250,000, as the White House has proposed. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0712/78234.html

389 File Under Gun Control

Then, Fillibuster every bill in the Senate until it gets an up or down vote...

Then on to the Prezzys desk... where he either signs it, or he owns the biggest Tax hike in History....

So... at that point... either its NOT a Tax, and thus Unconsitutional... or... the Dems DO Own it as a Tax increase....
