— Gabriel Malor This news is just breaking, so it may change radically and rapidly, but reports are that the U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, along with two or three other Americans, has been killed in a rocket attack in Benghazi.
ICYMI, the Obama Administration is throwing its Cairo embassy under the bus for its "hurt Muslim feelings" idiocy.
Both events allegedly stem from Muslim butthurt over some supposedly "blasphemous" movie that I've never heard of.
There's some very sci-fi medicine in the works, if any of this is remotely accurate.

When we last left poor Roscoe, he was in a world of trouble. The party he had thrown to blow off steam after filming three movies in a row had degenerated into a booze and drug-soaked bacchanalia, leaving one woman – 25 year old actress Virginia Rappe – dead. And according to her friend Maude Delmont, Arbuckle had killed her.
Rappe died on September 9, 1925 from a ruptured bladder. Arbuckle turned himself in, and on September 14, he was charged with manslaughter. The San Francisco DA, Matthew Brady, was looking to make a name for himself in politics and thought putting Arbuckle behind bars would be all the jump-start heÂ’d need.
Why? Well, Hollywood, at this point, was a byword for sin and debauchery. While Arbuckle awaited trial, the popular director William Desmond Taylor was found murdered in his apartment. Rumors quickly spread that the handsome Taylor had a collection of lingerie and nude photographs of the many actresses he’d bedded and two – ingénue Mary Miles Minter and comedienne Mabel Normand – were so tainted by their closeness with Taylor that it destroyed their careers.
Then, in 1923, popular leading man Wallace Reid would confess to being a morphine addict (having become hooked after an on-set accident where the drug was given him to ease the pain). He checked himself into a sanitarium, but died before he could kick his habit.
Add to this the already prevalent rumors of the “casting couch” and how “starlets” really got their roles, and it’s no wonder Brady thought the Arbuckle case was as good as won.
But he immediately ran into trouble with his star witness, Maude Delmont. As weÂ’ve seen, Delmont was known as a procuress and blackmailer. Brady might have been able to keep that from the jury, but the one thing he couldnÂ’t do was get a straight story out of Delmont. Sometimes she claimed to have seen Roscoe rape Virginia with a Coke bottle; at other times, she claimed she fought with the portly comedian as he tried to force himself on Virginia. She was a lifelong friend of Rappe, she said at one point, then insisted an hour later that theyÂ’d only met a few days before. A good defense attorney would have torn her to shreds on the stand, so Brady never called her to testify.
So determined was Brady to nail Arbuckle, though, that “Fatty” was tried three times. The first trial ended in a 10-2 vote for acquittal. The second deadlocked. Finally, in April of 1922, he was acquitted of all charges. So incensed was the jury at the blatant attempt to railroad Arbuckle, that of the five minutes they spent deliberating, four were spent preparing a statement to be read after the pronouncement of “not guilty:”
‘Acquittal is not enough for Roscoe Arbuckle. We feel that a great injustice has been done to him. . .there was not the slightest proof adduced to connect him in any way with the commission of a crime. He was manly throughout the case and told a straightforward story which we all believe. We wish him success and hope that the American people will take the judgment of fourteen men and women that Roscoe Arbuckle is entirely innocent and free from all blame.'
And so Arbuckle walked out of court a free man. But questions remained: how had Delmont learned about the party in the first place? Why was Fred Fischbach so insistent that Arbuckle throw a party? Had the comedian been set up? And what would happen to him now?
Nothing good, as it turned out. On Friday, weÂ’ll find out why.

Saw somewhere that teh political playbook calls for nice in early September, be hard in late September/mid october, and then shift back to positive before the election. Maybe that is what R2 is doing and they will get stronger soon

BTW, the gubernatorial contenders are Ovide Lamontagne (R) and Maggie Hassan (D). You all might remember Ovide as the guy who nearly won the Republican nomination over Kelly Ayotte for the Senate back in 2010. Hassan won the Dem nomination with 55% of the vote, with 50% of precincts reporting, over Jackie Cilley (the SEIU supported candidate) who had 37%.
This is going to be a very interesting governor's race. I voted for Ovide yesterday, and I damn sure will be voting for him in November.

I don't think that these events will hurt Obama significantly with the electorate.
Too many people in this country are: too dumbed down to notice, or Muslim sympathizers themselves (Muslims having been portrayed in the press as "victims" of U.S. and western oppression), or just plain cowards/appeasers, or those who just want their government check and care about nothing else except for being hostile to any event that might have even the faintest, imaginary potential for disrupting that government check.
If Romney hits this too hard he will "scare" people.
I would like to see whatever Obama's vague, non-response will eventually be defeat him at the polls in Nov., but I seriously doubt that very many in today's electorate care about stuff like ambassadors and embassies. Probably, many don't even know what ambassadors and embassies are. Too many people are just too dumb and can't/won't think beyond tomorrow afternoon.
I fervently hope that I am wrong. But even Bush's response to the original 9/11 was mostly handwringing, and very, very expensive handwringing at that (Homeland Security). No retaliation. We could at least have eliminated a lot of ME foreign aid and interviewed Saudi Arabian nationals to make sure that they were in this country for truly legitimate purposes.
