— Gabriel Malor

Happy Monday.

In case you missed it over the weekend, the Taliban attackers on Camp Bastion on Friday wore U.S. Army uniforms. They killed two Marines, injured nine NATO personnel, destroyed six Harrier jets, and put another two Harriers out of action.

The Libyan President says the Benghazi attack was pre-planned by an al-Qaeda-affiliated group. The Obama Administration's Susan Rice says the attack was not premeditated. What do you do when everyone's known to be a liar?

President Obama has filed a WTO trade complaint against China for subsidizing auto exports. The article notes that Obama's newfound spine when it comes to China has appeared just in time for Obama's campaign trip to Ohio this week.

The Chicago teachers union is taking at least another two days off, explaining that they cannot approve the new offer until after Rosh Hashana. Said one parent, apparently without irony, "What's the point of going on strike if you don't get everything you need out of it?"

Headline: "Topless rally in N.C. puts focus on women's equality." More accurate headline: Topless rally in N.C. puts focus on women's boobies.

1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Monday, September 17, 2012.  Today is Constitution Day.  On this day in 1787 the Constitution was completed and signed by the majority of the delegates to the convention in Philadelphia. This holiday has been around “unofficially” for a long time but was not made an official federal holiday until 2004. It was inserted into a budget bill by Senate Robert “Sheets” Byrd.  It is important that we recognize this day because th forces of big government began undermining the Constitution almost from the onset. When the progressive movement struck in the late 1800s those forces accelerated the movement.  Now we have a President who ignores it and willfully violates it at every opportunity. A President who openly stated in the run for the White House that he did not like this document and that it did not have redistribution of wealth in it. (Which we have been doing since the 30s anyway).  53% of the people voted this worthless cockholster in anyway.

6 The Chicago teachers union decided Sunday to continue its weeklong strike, extending an acrimonious standoff with Mayor Rahm Emanuel over teacher evaluations and job security provisions central to the debate over the future of public education across the United States.

Emanuel said he would seek a court order to end the strike, which he said is illegal under state law.

If it wzs illegal under State law why didnÂ’t he take them to court on day 1?  Why hasnÂ’t he fired every damn one of them?  Why?  Because he is a Democrat and no RR.

Ordinarily it should be displayed only between sunrise and sunset, although the Flag Code permits night time display "when a patriotic effect is desired." Similarly, the flag should be displayed only when the weather is fair, except when an all weather flag is displayed. (By presidential proclamation and law, the flag is displayed continuously at certain honored locations such as the United States Marine Corps Memorial in Arlington and Lexington Green.)

1. Shitty design of a large core

2. Shitty safety and control systems

3. Disregard of procedures

4. Disregard of Operator protests for that disregard

5. Failure to warn public due to "secrecy".

6. No containment building

All led to total destruction and release of core in a column of fire.

"This is what tyranny looks like."
a jacksonian @ Dumb Looks Still Free:

The film of Mr. Nakoula had been on youtube for quite some time before these events, and the citation of it by those who have done the rioting and assassination is nothing more than pretext, excuse and yet another finger to point at the West not because we are inciting them but because they hate our liberties and freedom.  Like the freedom to speak one's mind about religion and to even criticize other religions and not be taken in and tried on blasphemy charges for such criticism.  The 'questioning' of Mr. Nakoula is done as a cover for the real reason: that he is inconvenient to the regime of current Administration and a handy scapegoat, a mere Goldstein to excuse tyrannical action.

First they came for the bad film makers and I said nothing as I did not make bad films...

Screw THAT.

I do protest.

Because I know that at the end of the long list, I will be included in that ever expanding enemy's list, just as normal people have been every time that the list of handy scapegoats had to be increased to excuse incompetence, lack of oversight or just plain old horror by those seeking tyranny.  This is about the freedom of each of us to say as we feel we must say to inform our fellow citizens, and if it is done with bad art then SO BE IT.  Censorship in the face of terrorism is appeasement and walking away from support of human rights AT HOME.  This must stop NOW or the result is a horror beyond imagining and rivers of blood under your feet and mine for not speaking out TODAY.

I do speak out as that is my job as a Citizen of the Republic of the United States of America.

And it's the start of another crappy week (sorry about that, 'rons and 'ronettes.  The usual Monday blues).  Four bucks a gallon for the cheapest stuff here in Taxachusetts and I'm surrounded by idiots who still think TFG is the best thing since sliced bread.

Anyway, letÂ’s finish our Fatty Arbuckle series. . .

It took three trials, but Arbuckle was finally acquitted of any charges in the death of Virginia Rappe.  The third jury even took the step of issuing a public apology to the comedian, declaring that there had never been any evidence or even suggestion that Arbuckle had done anything wrong.

It didnÂ’t matter.  Public opinion, inflamed by Hearst-owned newspapers, had horribly damaged ArbuckleÂ’s popularity.  Will Hays, head of the Motion Pictures Producrs and Distributors of America, declared that Arbuckle was emblematic of the filth infesting Hollywood and issued an order that he could never work in movies again.  Not only that, but all of his films were to be confiscated from distributors and all scheduled screenings cancelled.  Hays would change his mind later in the year, but it didnÂ’t do any good.  Arbuckle was finished.

A few friends – notably Buster Keaton – stood by Arbuckle, and eventually he was able to find some small work directing pictures under the alias of “William B. Goodrich.”  Finally, in 1932, Warner Brothers decided to take a chance on the rotund comedian and signed him for a series of two-reel talking comedies which, to almost everyoneÂ’s surprise (especially Arbuckle), were very successful.

He finished the last of them on June 28, 1933.  On June 29, he signed a contract with Warner for a full-length movie.  That night, he died of a massive heart attack at the age of 46.

If you remember, in part 1 I noted that there were some suspicious circumstances surrounding the whole Arbuckle-Rappe encounter.  The author Andy Edmonds, in her book Frame-Up!, advances a theory which can never be proven, but seems to fit all the available evidence:

In 1918, Arbuckle had signed a $3,000,000 contract with Paramount for a series of 18 full-length movies over three years.  Adolph Zukor, Paramount chief, was said to be very incensed at ArbuckleÂ’s high cost and was looking for ways to strip down his renumeration.  Zukor was also said to hold a grudge against Arbuckle because the comedian – citing his heavy workload – refused to appear at certain Paramount publicity events.

Fast-forward to September 1921.  While concluding the last of his contracted shorts, Arbuckle accidentally sat down on an acid-soaked rag, receiving a very painful burn on his ass.  He thought of canceling his planned party, but cameraman Fred Fischbach – remember him? – was absolutely insistent the party go on.

Edmonds believed the appearance of Virginia Rappe at ArbuckleÂ’s party was part of a Zukor-orchestrated blackmail plan.  Remember, Maude Delmont, RappeÂ’s escort, was a known blackmailer, and before the women appeared, Fischbach had vanished from the party, returning only a few moments before the two entered.  Edmonds suggests that Zukor, in order to knock down ArbuckleÂ’s negotiating position and in petty revenge for his failing to toe the publicity line, had Fischbach arrange to have Arbuckle found in a compromising position with a woman.

What nobody knew, however, was that Rappe was a very sick woman and may have had another abortion shortly before her arrival at the St. Francis Hotel.  If there had been a little innocent horseplay at the party, Edmonds wrote, Arbuckle might have accidentally hit Rappe in the abdomen (which would account for her reported moans of “he did it” or “Roscoe hit me.”), mortally damaging her already frail internal organs (as RappeÂ’s ovaries and uterus vanished from the coronerÂ’s office, no one was ever able to follow up on this supposition).

Now faced with a manslaughter charge, Zukor then decided the best course of action was to hang Arbuckle out to dry, rather than be forced to admit his own culpability in RappeÂ’s death.  Evidence, too, of a bribe being paid by Paramount to DA Matthew Brady also supports the idea of a complete frame-up.

And there it is.  The sad end of one of the greatest comics of the silent era.  If you get a chance, check out some of his work, especially The Butcher Boy, a wonderful short that shows off Arbuckle's amazing dexterity, as well as being the first film appearance of Buster Keaton.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

I have no doubt that the question of who actually carried out the attack is totally immaterial to the Libyan president's assertion of AQ involvement.

They are only burning one at a time hopefully and outside well ventilated.  Also, the American made flags may be less toxic due to regulations.

But I would not count on that.  Anything made of plastic or plastic containing synthetic fibers releases toxic gasses when burning.  This is why you need to get out of any burning house immediately even if you think the smoke is light.

The article notes that Obama's newfound spine when it comes to China has appeared just in time for Obama's campaign trip to Ohio this week.| Last night there was some discussion of the Politico/Business Insider articles about problems in the campaign among the staffers allegedly impacting the convention speech, at the very least. I recall an awful lot of known republican pundits arguing that romney had to get specific, put out his plans, draw a nice picture of what he's going to do. They were literally relentless with this meme. So, Romney did get specific with one thing. He said he was going to be tough with China. And, predictably, like happened with John McCain. it will appear that BO is again "me tooing" the good stuff from his opponent. Doesn't matter what the complaint says, no one is going to look at it or read it. What matters is that everyone thought romney's stance on China was great, so did BO. Lack of specifics, pundits is a good thing.

126 96 before the US got involved.
---
before the US Government got involved.

There were already the established American Christian Missionaries and freelance journalists in China as witnesses, themselves wary of the combating factions within China, all being victimized by the Japanese. And of course, the private US Volunteers included those whom John Wayne's "Flying Tigers" movie dramatized.

Beyond the vying global investments behind the Chinese Revolution for Independence via communism, that the USA relied on the Chinese during WWII to aid our pilots is a story buried by the Cold UN Korean War.

That the Japanese Government refuses absolutely any apology ever to the People of China for the Rape of Nanking tells more than meets the eye, far more than Americans are willing to acknowledge, let alone to consciously evaluate.

/And I can already hear the radically violent responses, "Never Apologize!" aka No Apologies. Yeah, and love means never having to say you're sorry. pfft/ Today, rightfully, Americans want redress for the acts of war committed against our government's dignitaries abroad, tortured by barbaric, blood thirsty, conspiring assassin organizations that demand/spread the hate of liberty and freedom, aided by our own tax dollars no thanks to our corrupt government officials and their policies that don't even recognize the rights of US citizens. My point, we can appreciate the "righteous anger" that the Chinese yet bear vs. the Japanese. /It isn't as if China benefited globally by the outcome of WWII, or as if Western nations rebuilt China with US Dollars as occurred in Japan, and I'm acknowledging without listing all those other reasons too many to enumerate./

145 Not just media bias but Hollywood bias in TV shows goes way back. I saw an example just this past weekend. I had been talking with a guy about an episode of the old Fox show 21 Jump Street and curious I went looking for it, found it on YouTube. A couple of things jumped out at me.

1) The episode was about runaway homeless kids (ever notice how homelessness is a "problem" that only ever appears during Republican administrations? In this economy, I am sure that there are plenty of new homeless out there, but we hear...nada) and it was called "Blinded by the Thousand Points of Light", a jab at Bush 41.

2) One of the cops pretending to be homeless took the name "Trump", mocking the Donald

3) The kids turned tricks to survive, and one john says he's rewarding himself because he signed a contract "To rep a big gun manufacturer".

4) The bad guy was a yuppie in a Beamer

There may be more, but these I noticed without trying, and that goes back 25 years. Some things never change.
