Many liberals (and even some conservatives) are pimping the idea that Romney is having the worst month ever and that he might as well quit now. That is, objectively, the stupidest, least supportable conclusion one could draw from the events of the past month. The status quo prevails.

Coincidentally, U.S. distrust in media hits 60 percent, a new high.

1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Friday, September 21, 2012.  On this day in 1897 The New York Sun published its famous essay “Yes Virginia There Is A Santa Clause”. It was written by Francis Pharcellus Church.  The New York Sun is no more, and neither are columns like this.  The Sun was considered the “conservative alternative” to the other NYC papers.  It ceased publication in 1950.

6 Obama sits with Univision who grilled him on “immigration reform” (IOW amnesty).   This Miami Herald article (I will not use the Drudge link to Politico) say he gets “high marks” for that but the TV show grilled him hard. He will get the Puerto Rican vote but he will lose the Cuban vote.  FL is critical to Obama and without the Hispanic vote there he has no chance.  There are not enough transplanted Northerners in South FL to override the northern half of the State which is still like the rest of the South.

23 Some more of why I hate lawfare in the US.  NYC teacher gets $450,000 because students threw condoms at her.  She can not control her class so she gets big money.  But looking at the pics in the paper you can see the racist dog whistle.  This being Brooklyn, the students were most likely black.  The school administrator she filed complaints with was black.  The teacher is a white woman from Mississippi. Also interesting to see in some recent polls, only something like 20% of people think Romney's comments on Libya were appropriate, but he still gets 46-47% of the vote. Suggests people may be brainwashed into thinking it was a "gaffe", but that it makes no difference to their vote.

58 Good grief, just had a little chat with my daughter. Stuck her head out to let me know she needs lunch money which led to a conversation about lunch at school. It seems there are new lunch rules this year. No more pizza EVER, chips and fries have dissapeared and in their place is carrots or beans. No 2 of anything is allowed. If she arrives at the cashier without veggies on her plate she is sent back and not allowed out until she scoops the proper amount of carrots onto her tray. This is beyond stupid....we aren't talking about grade school here either. This is high school. I'll have to do some research but I can probably guess who is behind this.

I couldn't watch the "debate." For starters, others in this house, fresh from their nightly dose of Brian Williams sucking off Osama Obama, raised a fuss about watching. Second, much as I despise Fauxcahontas, Brown is what almost any state other than MA (or CA) would call a Democrat.

103 Re schoool lunches:   Ate with granddaughter for Granparents Day yesterday.   Menu:  Spaghetti (broken and mixed with sauce so more like a casserole,  not too bad but needed a little salt) canned peaches in a cup, carrot & celery sticks with a couple of cherry tomatoes and cups of lo-fat ranch dressing. Alternative main course was a giant cup of yogurt with granola and fruit.

It was ok,  but wouldn't have been enough food for my grandson.   I did find it funny that the school PTA was handing out free chocolate chip cookies to everyone as they left the lunch line.  I gave mine to my granddaughter.

It seems there are new lunch rules this year. No more pizza EVER, chips and fries have dissapeared and in their place is carrots or beans. No 2 of anything is allowed. If she arrives at the cashier without veggies on her plate she is sent back and not allowed out until she scoops the proper amount of carrots onto her tray. My daughter stopped buying school lunches for that reason. She gets up early, and makes her own these days.....and she's not alone. A lot of her friends are doing the same thing. Moochelle is behind the new federal 'rules' on what kids are allowed to eat. Just another step toward the totalitarian dreams of the left...get the kids used to the Feds dictating things as mundane as 'lunch', and they'll be that much easier to convince that subsequent federal over reach into their private lives is just fine.

113 Another thing about school lunches.  Elementary school students here get to school at 8:30.  If they eat breakfast at home,  they have to go until 12:30 or so to eat lunch.  That is a long time from eating at 7:30.  Then they don't get out of school until 3:30 and have to ride the bus home.

That lunch I ate wouldn't have lasted me all day when I was a kid.   My grade school lunches were things like grilled cheese sandwiches with a bowl of tomato soup and a bag of Fritos,  chili with crackers and large American cheese chunks cut in strips with jello and fruit,  ham and beans with cornbread,  etc.   Plus we could buy snacks after lunch,  like pretzel rods,  peanut butter cups,   etc.

That is after all the giant elephant in the room with regards to this election cycle.

From what I've seen, Obama is an above-average but nothing special debater who will say absolutely anything he thinks he needs to say to win, because he knows with that the media moderators during the debate and so-called fact checkers after the fact will not call him on it. The fact that he can lie with impunity is obviously a major institutional advantage. Surprisingly, Romney was an excellent debater during the Republican primaries, and somehow came across as more relaxed and natural (and hence "likeable") in that environment than he does just standing on the stage alone giving a speech. My early prediction: Assuming Romney brings his prior intensity to the Presidential debates (we'll see), he will in fact get the better of Obama at the debates, but not enough to turn the tide and rally any significant portion of the 40% or so who usually don't participate (and btw, wtf is wrong with these people?!?) to show up and outvote the moronic, hate-filled, freeloading left. I have it as Obama by a field goal at this point.

Re: School lunches. My daughter is in Kindergarten in public school here in FL. Lunches aren't terrible. Minor stupidity. A typical lunch for her, when she buys, is a PB&J, veggie (weird kid LOVES broccoli), milk/choc milk/juice and a cheese stick. She hates the cheese stick. Refuses to eat it, but they make her take it. School rules say you can't trade food with other kids and you can't take any food out of the cafeteria. So every time she gets it, it gets thrown in the trash. Stupid and wasteful. But they still have real food too. They have Sloppy Joe's some days, they have pizza on Fridays, etc.

I have seen some horrid school cafeteria "dishes" with gray meat and pale veggies...I am all for preparing healthy, good tasting meals and it is not that expensive. But the stormtrooper tactics will only serve to encourage the exact opposite effect. When I was in high school (calif.) we had the most awesome salad bar...it was about 20 feet long with every thing you could imagine. My friends and I would pig out on a salad and then have a cookie and ice-cream after. We never had to do a weight watchers stint even with the yummy dessert.

We're talking weather, eh?      I'm in New England, so we get the four seasons pretty clear cut.     The winters tend to be more extreme than the summers   (more likely to have a major blizzard or ice storm than an unrelenting heat wave),      but the spring and autumn are both generally mild and lovely.   There was a bit of an early winter chill in the air this morning, though.  All it needed was that smoky, crisp smell in the air to signal snow and I would have thought it was November. 

 

BTW, alexthechick?   I agree with you.   I have a terrible feeling this is going to be an awful winter.    Last winter was ridiculously good    here in NH -- our biggest snowstorm was in October, and that was about it till late January!     Our summer wasn't bad, but we didn't get a lot of rain.   I'm convinced Mother Nature's saving up all that moisture to dump on us    as     massive amounts of snow.

The 2012 top grant, $250,000 is going to Egyptian Cancer Network which is basically an Egyptian charity that has 501.C.3 status here in the states. Apparently immediately  before the vote dead line they were not even in the top then all of sudden within 24 hours they are walking away with the top prize. (according facebook comments). Many of the small charities are crying foul. It looks like small animal shelters push very hard/campaign to get chance for this money and as result give Chase a lot of free PR. Basically it seems to be comment war between crazy cat ladies and jihadies. Well until Chase deletes the comments.

The mannsaid that the overwhelming response has caused everybody to take notice. he RNC has 8 offices in Michigan and the DNC has 2. Due to how many people have requested Romney signs, the DNC is opening 6 more offices, and is going to start spending money here. The man was very optimistic, and said that the Obama campaign was completely taken by surprise that Michigan was not the sure thing they thought it was. This is in Michigan, and I am in the upper peninsula. A college town, yet only 2 Obama stickers so far.

Only partially related, but this year I've seen a lot more competition between our    gray    squirrels,   red squirrels,    and chipmunks.   They're constantly chasing each other around.   They do that anyway, but it's been a lot more pronounced this year.   I fear they sense something we don't so they're fighting over who gets to stuff the most acorns in their    dens    for the winter.

 

I almost feel sorry for the gray squirrels.   They have NO shot of keeping up with the chipmunks.   Those chippies are stupid fast.

Well, that cat is already out of the bag. This is no longer the 80s and the DNC no longer owns 100% of the media. O and Jarrett don't consider the internet sites to be media. So they ignore sites such as this or Redstate and hope that enough of the population will also ignore the truth so that they can get reelected.

Yesterday I found myself looking at all the postings of bush saying "it's hard work". Not to show them that but to show them how they all firmly believed that Bush was responsible for the economy and everything else as president. I was showing them that their beliefs change if the president is a republican. I was showing them that they are really giving this guy slack and maybe they should use their "bush judgment model" on him and see how that works out. A lot of my friends got angry with me yesterday over this.

309 Another very damaging thing to the romney campaign besides people judging a republican president using different criteria than when they judge a democratic president is the idea that "both parties are the same, they are all doing the same things, so we might as well let the guy have his second term so he can finish everything he promised and started". Some how people have to be educated to realize that there are distinct differences.

318 My husband went to visit his parents (Dems) here in Loudoun and his dad thinks VA is going to go Obama by narrow margin because of Goode.  I don't mind him thinking that if he's wrong, but would love to hear a take from Kelley in VA on how she thinks Goode will do overall?  i can think of a few folks up here on the (supposed) R side who think it's a matter of principle to write in or vote Paul, etc, primarily because they'd rather see the R party become the Libertarian party (just as the dems have fallen prey to those who knew the CPUSA would never get enough winning votes to do much good), and also because a very few of them seem to be more comfortable railing as underdogs than winning and having to actually govern.  We have one guy who is born again Tea Party Libertarian (very small group, consisting primarily of him, his wife and about three others, among the several "official" branded personal TPs in the region) actually WANTS Rs to lose even if it means more O, because that will teach the rest of us to do it his way and vote for his candidates (most of whom pull maybe 20% in primaries or even conventions).  He is a definite turd in the punchbowl, who I can see going Goode if he doesn't go Paul or write in.  he certainly won't do Romney, and if that means Obama oh well, we should have listened to him.  Kelley, what's your take on Goode?  My personal opinion is that he won't have enough pull outside of a certain area and a certain committed protest vote to do much, but I'm up here in NoVA and an R who wins here isn't the same as an R some other places in the state.  Thoughts?

323 321 Barbarausa - as another VA and one from Closer to where Goode is from, he will not do much, but it won't take much. I know others who think they need to maintain their "integrity" by voting for someone other than Romney (or whoever the Rep candidate might have been other than RP). Explaining to them that a vote for other is really a vote for O does not seem to help. They call it a matter of principle. The interesting part is that by insisting on integrity and principle they may assist someone without either remain president. (Dem voters don't seem to care about either quality) Look, Romney was not my first choice, but he is the better choice now. If these people truly value integrity and principle; if character is important then the choice should be clear. I hope that I will wear them down in time.
