— Ace Well you can't buy them. The American government can, though.
Just some filler while I wake up, before I start poaching all of Ben's links.
Weapon X, the Laser Avenger, is a vehicle-based laser that can take out an aircraft. Well, a drone, at least. The 1 kilowatt beam is weak. But a 100 kilowatt beam is coming, supposedly soon.
Not mentioned here are the various sniper/gunfire detection and location systems, which use either accoustics or optics (the latter by beaming laser light around, looking for reflections from the sniper's scope's lens) to pinpoint the location of a hidden shooter.

I always liked the sound of a phased plasma rifle in a 40 watt range. Of course, I also wondered about the 40 watt range, since i can buy a far more powerful blow drier. But then it's not phased, is it?
I still want one, before the ban takes effect.

Can you imagine how advanced we could be if we stopped wasting time on all these non-lethal, politically correct bullshit weapons and focused on things that efficiently kill people?
And why are we still buying human pilot operated planes? What a waste.

Go to a local gun range.... explain what you are doing.... most have weapons you can rent and try out (or being in the industry can point you somewhere where you can)... and they will most probably be very helpful...
Thing about guns... as I posted a couple of threads ago... its like asking if you are a Tits or Ass Man... or are blondes, brunettes, or redheads better.... it all depends on what works for YOU.

Nor should we. The 5.56 has proved its worth as an everyday battle cartridge in M4/16 and 416 rifles.
But there is also availability of many battle rifles using the .308.
So it's really not an all or nothing approach. It's more of what works for the role (DM, Rifleman, etc.).
That IMHO is a better approach.

It break garrett's heart that Monica was fat in high school. He knows what it's like to be an outcast, feeling alone like that. Sometimes, at night, he cries for that boy he once was...
BTW, could a .308 penetrate Monica's fatsuit?

Because drones only work against Second or Third Tier opponents? In real Modern battlefield, with Electronic Warfare going on both sides? Drones will quickly become useless for any type of combat mission.

"We desperately need a gun thread at some point. Going to be buying one soon and I am pretty sure I am not the only one. "
Part of it needs to involve new and inventive ways to finance them without the Mrs. finding out about it, making your life miserable for a week, and finally clubbing you to death with it in your sleep.
It's a real problem.

Because drones are limited in what they can do, I imagine. I tend to think that the idea of replacing all human-pilots with remote operators is in the same category as the idea that bombers made land-war obsolete back in the '30s...

Remotely operated aircraft with crews of 4 to 12 people, smaller, faster, cheaper, better armed and totally fearless, making turns so fast it would rip the teeth out of a human pilot, would quickly destroy any archaic air force.
A second or third tier power that put their money into UAV's would quickly become the dominant force in the sky.

Then, you'll need to factor in ammo costs, and just as importantly, training costs.
Your tacticool new shotty or 1911 is worthless unless you learn how to use it effectively ... start with a basic safety course, then get tactical training from your local NRA guy.
Then, practice practice practice. It ain't cheap, but it's necessary nonetheless.
Sorry for the killjoy. Proceed.

Right until someone detonated a flux compression generator and grounded all of your UAVs. Then you realize a single 20k$ bomb can torch every radio inside of 5 miles, and UAVs are effectively worthless.

And why are we still buying human pilot operated planes? What a waste.
Because a fleet of planes remotely piloted from Nevada are going to look real pretty sitting on the ground when we go up against an enemy that can mess with our communications networks, and in twenty years that capability will extend to quite a few countries.

Among the many inventive ways quilters hide their purchases from their husbands: when you buy groceries, use your debit card and get $20 cash back. It goes in your financial records as "groceries" (the line in the online checking only says "purchase at Food Store") and you get $20 to spend as you see fit.
Then you drive around with your new fabric in the trunk of your car for awhile before you sneak it into the house, and then when your husband asks if that's new fabric, you truthfully answer, "No, I've had it for awhile."
Or you could just be an adult and talk to your spouse about what you're doing, but I'm told that's an unrealistic view of the world held only by women too defective to be married, so what do I know.

I would suspect that anything utilized against a UAV would have just as big an effect against the electronics-laden flying moneypits we currently have in inventory. Also, redundency would be the order the day with laser/microwave/whatever communications carrying the instructions.
People in warplanes is as outdated as soldiers on horseback.

Why would flying remotely be any different than being in the plane yourself? If anything, it would be far easier to fly in formation remotely.

I'm just guessing but it might be because of confusing radio signals when that many recievers are in close proximity

Best home defense weapon is a short barreled shotgun commonly called a "coach gun". 12 gauge is OK but don't get any shot bigger than 6 shot. (note smaller number is bigger shot)
Best concealed carry gun is one that can be concealed, that fits your hand, and that you can afford to practice with. I have a 6" barrel SnW .357 that fits under the seat of my truck and a Colt .45 officers model that will fit in my back pocket.
Best long gun? There are so many they can not be listed. The caliber depends on what you will hunt.
