I'll purchase a "Breitbart Is Here" T-shirt from the studio whose owner was a friend of AB that Bigfurhat has on his IOTW site. All profits go to AB's kids, too.

On Friday, when I get paid my part-time slave wages.

7 Breitbart was a good egg. He fought, even when it didn't engender love. His joie de vitriol was endless, but never without a point. I suspect he probably took care of his kids as best he could; I don't care, I'll send money to his kids regardless. I'm going to miss him.

Wouldn't he want conservatives to invest their extra cash into the private sector, so those of us without family money or connections would have a chance to EARN it? Breitbart was 43, at the peak of his earning years. No doubt, he counted on earning much more. If you dug his groove, it's worth passing on a few doubloons to his family. It costs you little, and means much to them. If you didn't dig his groove, then don't. Simple as that.

50 No. No. No. No.

If you want to and can afford to give to Breitbart's family, great.

If you cannot afford to help financially, say a prayer for them.

When my kids were young, I had a thing called "LIFE INSURANCE".  True conservatives will understand.

It's a "free love" offering.  No pressure.  Do it if you want.  Don't do it if you don't want or cannot.

54 Yes, I did post at 35. Good catch. You're clearly very bright, and deserving of all the money Daddy gave you. I'm sure Mommy has told you that many times. Meanwhile, Breitbart's message of self reliance and meritocracy is clearly lost on you. I wish you well, name-caller. I hope I never meet you. Peace out, Ace. I don't like your followers.

Posted by: Hey.wheres.barry at March 21, 2012 04:35 PM (hyP1j)

55 To the person who is having trouble feeding their own family and is sure the breitbart kids are well taken care of, why not, when you have extra money, donate to Hannity's veteran's charity.  Can't remember the name off the top of my head but you can make the donation in memory of Andrew Breitbart.  He would have liked that.

56 "Not to be a dick, but he was fairly well off, wasn't he? Again, not to be a dick, but I'm borrowing money to FEED my kids, let alone put money into a fund for their abstract "future." Wouldn't he want conservatives to invest their extra cash into the private sector, so those of us without family money or connections would have a chance to EARN it?" Well this is what is called "charity". If you would like to give money and you can afford it then you can decide how much would be appropriate and send some money. If your not in a financial situation where you can do so, then you don't have too - it's entirely up to you. Also I would point out that whenever you start a sentence with "Not to be a dick" odds are very good your about to say something that will make you a dick. Much like saying "Well no offense meant" - it's bullshit. If you really didn't mean any offense, you'd keep your fucking yap shut

Posted by: Tami at March 21, 2012 04:40 PM (X6akg)

59 There's no shame in not being able to give to this or any other charitable effort.  Some times you're the giver, sometimes you're the recipient.  I've been on both ends.  Most of the time, the short one.  Most everyone has struggled financially at some point in their life, and many of us are in that situation right now. No one thinks poorly of those who cannot give, or have other more pressing places where money has to go.

If you cannot or do not wish to give, do what I've often had to do in church.  Just quietly let the plate pass by and say a prayer instead.

Posted by: mama winger at March 21, 2012 04:41 PM (P6QsQ)

60 It's a great idea.  Breitbart may be perceived as having been well off now but you never know what the future holds.  My parents saved three times what the nice financial planning guy told them to save for us for college, we have loans, they have loans.  We paid for our own grad and professional schools and will ultimately pay for our own weddings, as my parents retirement was smashed to pieces recently.

Posted by: hmmmm at March 21, 2012 04:42 PM (oZfic)

61 Well the whole "not to be a dick" line is just a pansy way of saying, "Hey, I'm about to be a dick, but your not allowed to call me on it" It's BS - the guy knew he was being a dick. Has to borrow money to feed his kids? Seriously? Where do these troll asswipes come up with this shit?

86 Well, I don't have enough scratch to write a check right this second, but if a few deals I have hanging out at work go together, I will in the next couple of months, and I'll be happy to.

Like Jimmah, one of the bills in my stack is also a life insurance premium, for around $60 a month for a policy worth close to $700k.  Don't know why Andrew didn't have one, assuming he didn't, but I won't judge. I didn't get one until I was 40, and that was mostly because a good friend had a heart attack.  Maybe Andrew didn't have a close to home wake-up call like that, but maybe he is that call for some other folks. If you've got a wife and or kids, you really should look into it.

About to finish Righteous Indignation.  It's a good read. Confirmed my suspicion that I would've liked Breitbart if I'd met him.

114 "Sooooo, SOS.....how did the talk with your daughter go?" I was actually very, very surprised. Turns out she thinks I should start dating again, even got pretty excited about the concept. She's always been a great kid, and we talked about it quite a bit - I guess I was expecting her to react a lot more like she did about her mom's boyfriend, but not at all really. Kind of caught me by surprise. She was a little surprised when she asked me how long I'd been dating this girl and I told her I hadn't dated her yet, that I wanted a chance to talk to her before I started dating again. She just assumed I had already started dating and was merely informing her of the fact, took her a minute to catch on that we were discussing it first. I did tell her about the age difference, first thing the little snot says is "Does this mean I get to start dating 20 year old guys then?" It's days like this that I really regret the fact that my daughter inherited her dad's sense of humor.. lol *I'm trying to change the subject* lol..ok,happy to oblige.

I think it did make her feel pretty grown up that I was asking her what her opinion was instead of just telling her this was what I was going to do whether she liked it or not. But boy, I was not at all prepared for the total barrage of questions I got - she wanted to know everything there was to know about the girl I was planning on dating.. and I mean everything. I told her what I did know that much, that we just met.. but she had questions that I never would have even thought to ask after dating someone for months, much less someone I'd just met. 154 OK so as long as I'm here:

Not kidding when I said I've followed every word of the StuckonStupid saga.   It sure is an inspirational story, and given how hard Breitbart's death has hit me - - much more so than I'd have expected -- one I've vicariously enjoyed very much and actually inspired me to take much smaller baby-Breitbart steps confronting my uberliberal coworkers who can't stop shooting their mouths off.

Must confess though that there's something that's been bugging me, and that's that a few things about this story make no sense at all.  One, other people have mentioned: the seemingly slow way the company's been handling it (this has been dragging on for WEEKS now and they haven't found the source of the rest of the death threats, at least seven of which originated from work IP addresses??)

Other things sound small on paper but are troubling.  Just one example: can it really be true that SoS has been eating lunch entirely alone, for weeks, the lone Marlboro Man as it were of the lunchroom?  He never mentions his former lunchmates, not once in all this time, only one mention of a closet Republican soman who privately told him she agreed w/ him, as did her hubby, and she may have been the one who turned in the night supervisor vandal.  What in the world happened to the people SoS used to talk with at work and lunch?

Sincere request: if SoS could explain these things to me it'd help me understand.

Of course I sound like a dick and I don't mean to.  And all due and sincere apologies to SoS if every word of this is true.  But SoS is a hell of a storyteller.  It just seems too neat a dramatic arc.

Anyway it certainly is a hell of a story.  Props to SoS and I hope like hell it's all true esp the girlfriend part.

160 You know what? I think Raykon is doing us a great service.

Seriously. If this 'blog was just friendly like-minded conservatives trading stories about today at work, or advice on life and love, we'd quickly degenerate into a quiet, happy social circle.

Raykon, and his many aliases, saves us from that. By continually showing us how hateful, stupid, infantile, and downright evil the liberals are, he keeps us focused. We can see what we have to fight, and our anger at his vicious behavior motivates us to take action.

Look at StuckOnStupid! See what one man can do when he gets angry and decides he won't take it anymore. That's what Raykon does for us! He's turning us into a legion of Breitbarts! His ignorant spitefulness and bigotry is a better motivator than a dozen patriotic speeches or a thousand campaign ads.

When I have doubts about spending my time and money to support Republicans, I think of Raykon. When I wonder if liberals might have a point on some issues, I think of Raykon. When my faith in America wobbles, I think of Raykon.

Thank you, Raykon! From the bottom of my heart and with no sarcasm at all let me thank you. Vile, witless, lonely attention whore that you are, you inspire dozens, if not hundreds of patriots to fight against you and everything you stand for! Keep it up! Keep posting your filthy, empty-headed hate! Keep reminding us what the enemy looks like! Keep us fighting!

162 I guess I'm going to be personally attacked by all the "truly charitable" who were so overwhelmed by the selflessness of their action to have rushed "back" onto the aoshq comments section to gush about how they do charitably just put a check in the mail (not 2 minutes after the thread was posted in fact!) and visit a vicious personal blitzkrieg upon those who wld question the necessity of a multimillionaire's children for monetary charity. Andrew breitbart was worth about ten million dollars. That's far more than enough to get two children through secondary education and support his wife in a modest lifestyle through investment income through the rest of their lives. And note that they ALREADY have income through their father's investments and business interests. It's not like they're being immediately cut off to live on only $10M for the rest of ever. No doubt, I offer my sincere vicarious gratitude to all those -- especially those who felt no need to publically congratulate themselves here -.- -- who offered a little money to the family. They're going thru a difficult time, and any expression of support has got to offer some sort of solace to the family that goes beyond the economic value of the donation. That being said, I do have to echo the sentiments of others here questioning the wisdom of soliciting donations for te children of a well-off political media celebrity. I understand te concept of charity, and I harbour a respect for those who wld choose to use some part of their expendable income to better the situations of OTHERS, but those free dollars available for charity of ANY sort are limited. It seems that asking for donations for kids whose financial situation is anything but precarious is in fact reducing the amount of charity dollars available to be donated to more immediately needful causes. It's a tough time for them right now, and I really do try to empathise. But money isn't really what they needÂ…and a lot of other people do.

165 Lurker, actually it's only been a couple of weeks since this thing started. The company really can't fire people without cause or they might open themselves up to a lawsuit. Now I've had a bit of IT experience but I must admit most of my experience is in the workstation/laptop/printer repair realm. I honestly have no idea how one would go about tracing an email back to it's source, and I would imagine that if the source isn't a server owned by your own company that would make things a lot harder, because you'd have to get whoever owned that server to cooperate and give you that information. Again, just a guess on my part, not my area of expertise - but I'm sure that we've got a couple of IT god's laying about somewhere who probably have a much better idea on the process than I would. As it is they've already fired 6 people so far, and I suppose it's entirely possible that che-boy may not have sent any death threats himself, they may have just come from the che-bots who were already fired. Not 100% certain of that of course, no way of knowing for sure until the company completes it's investigation, and even then I may not be privy to everything it finds or even anything it finds. The "closet" republican isn't someone I know - in fact that day was the first and last time we ever spoke in person. She works the evening shift so I'm usually getting off work as she's coming in, I guess she was in early that day for whatever reason. That was the other thing that made me kind of chuckle, someone had mentioned that a lot of the people I described seemed like stereotypes. Well ya, they probably did - a lot of these people are people that I really don't know or have only had the briefest of contact with - it's not like I got the chance to sit down and interview them in depth so I could "flesh them out" or provide everyone with in depth backgrounds. Really the whole thing just started as me venting about my workday - sort of took on a life of it's own somehow. So some people will believe it and I guess some won't. Such be life I suppose.

Thank you Sir for the explanation about IT.  Am not IT savvy so, have no idea what the ins and outs of tracking an email would be but it didn't really make sense that IT wouldn't know

But it actually has been almost three weeks since this thing started (or will be Friday).  And what happened to the people you used to eat lunch with?  Are they avoiding you still or what -- aren't the threats to them (if they were worried about retaliation) and the drama causers already mostly removed now?

Prolly sound like I'm perseverating.  But your lunchmates sound like (you sound too nice to say this yourself but I can) cowardly douches and am dying to know what's causing them to stay away from you.

171 Well it all started on a Friday - so I guess it will be three weeks on Friday. The people I used to eat lunch with up to now have been more or less practicing polite avoidance. A few of them have started being a little less standoffish on the production floor, but so far no one has taken the plunge and actually sat down to have lunch with me. I can't really speak to their motivations with any real insight, all I can imagine is that they are just interested in avoiding controversy.

172 160 Anyway it certainly is a hell of a story. Props to SoS and I hope like hell it's all true esp the girlfriend part.

Hey lurker, another lurker here. First, I can confirm what SoS said about the difficulty of tracing emails via IP address when they came from another company's computers. You have to get them to cooperate with you, which is usually an explicit violation of their own privacy policies, which means they'll only do so given good reason. Many companies will define "good reason" as "show me a search warrant or you get bupkis, buddy." And depending on whether your local police office has a clue, they may or may not be willing to issue search warrants for Internet death threats. (They might look at the death threat emails and say "Eh, it's just some 14-year-old kid playing a prank" and refuse to issue a search warrant. They'd be wrong if they did that, but it's been known to happen.)

Second, as for the potential-girlfriend part, she posted here a few ONT's ago, with the handle Hummingbird. Same IP address as StuckOnStupid's posts (with hash R5yLq) but a visibly different writing style than StuckOnStupid's writing style.

Finally, I'm 100% convinced of the veracity of the whole thing. SoS has answered people's questions, sometimes within minutes of them asking, with details that are consistent with the rest of his story. It would take an extremely skilled liar to keep all those details straight at that rate of posting. Or, the other alternative: it could be the simple truth, and StuckOnStupid has been consistent with the details because he's just remembering what really happened. Occam's Razor suggests the latter.

And to SoS: well done. And please do continue to keep us posted. It sounds like most of the drama of the saga is winding down, but you never know what other idiots might self-identify in ways that get them fired. I'll be continuing to watch your posts with great interest.

173 "it didn't really make sense that IT wouldn't be able to find an email from inside the office" None of the threats were sent from a work email account, they were all sent from either gmail or hotmail accounts. As I understand it the two guys they did fire over it so far both used a work computer to sign onto gmail or hotmail and sent them from a terminal at work, and that's how they got caught. Again not sure about all of the mysterious IT magic that went into it - or if they will be able to track down the remaining senders of the death threats or how long that will take. But I'll keep folks posted as best I can I guess.

174 OK SoS, thanks for the reply.

Just read over my first post and it sounds even more doubty than I wanted it to. I should've said that since I've been following your story so closely, I've noticed repeats and restatements of things when you're explaining things to new questioners, even days later that sound "real" - as in, yeah, someone who actually lived through this would repeat it like that.

Anyway, apologies again for my doubting-Thomas tendencies and can't say as the behavior of your lunchmates makes a lick more of sense now but what's most important, hope work gets better for you now and good for you for standing up.

And may what's supposed to happen w/ Hummingbird happen.  Best to you Sir.

IT lurker:

OK now THAT made me laugh.   I crossposted with you but you picked the exact same reason as me that SoS' multiple postings seemed consistent.

And thanks to you too for the IT explanation.

176 Lurker and SoS---

Pardon me for butting in, but the "saga" has also been of interest to me....

I've been thru workplace harrassment within a large corporation, and this story rings true to me.  It sucks all the way around.

People you've seen every day for *years* will avoid you, particularly if you're merely acquainted by way of employment.  Nobody wants to 'get involved' or be seen as "that snitch who got so-and-so fired."  You find out quickly who your friends are...and are not.

It is also typical for an employer to not disclose the investigation's findings to any involved party-- all you know for sure is your own side of the story.

My unsolicited 2 cents, fwiw.

Love the way you tell it, SoS-- I admire your writing style.

177 Let's hope this fund gets at least as much as all the profit being made off his name and image since his death.

178 "Anyway, apologies again for my doubting-Thomas tendencies and can't say as the behavior of your lunchmates makes a lick more of sense now but what's most important, hope work gets better for you now and good for you for standing up. " I don't take issue with any doubters - You can't believe half of what you see on the internet even on a good day, so I understand completely believe me. That is one of the reasons I've never gotten upset when someone expresses doubts, or even flat out claims I'm full of it. Just the nature of the beast really. Only night i did get upset was the night I had to go pickup Frankencar after it had been completely trashed. I was pretty wiped out and probably should have waited till the following day to post, but other than that, well, like I said i guess people will eventually believe whatever they want to believe. Doesn't alter my reality a bit. "And may what's supposed to happen w/ Hummingbird happen. Best to you Sir. " Appreciate that.. but honestly were looking at some fairly long odds of success here. The age difference alone is staggering, and I'm walking into this with a lot of baggage. Not the sort on that terrible Jerry Springer show, but still - lol..

Well at least on the conservative side anyway, IIRC all the profits from the "BREITBART IS HERE" posters are being donated to the family.  I think.

Sorry if I missed it, but.....

Is there not going to be a big, bad, public celebration of Breitbart's life?

Is it all these low-key limited events?

181 "If I remember what you've said earlier, you're 44 and she's 29, right?" Yup. I guess it will help that she's really mature for her age, and I'm really immature for mine. And no plans to rush into anything yet, she is coming down for dinner tomorrow to meet the youngest. I've already warned her.. lol.. but she's intent on going through with it so we'll see how that goes and take it from there.

184 Anyone know the best way to set a fund of this type up. My father was murdered about a year and a half ago. Totally random act, some dude just walked into a nice restaurant/bar and slit my dad's throat (details here http://tinyurl.com/2eaogs2 and here http://tinyurl.com/6nggnvn). My father supported my grandmother and me and my brothers are struggling to support her properly. Dealing with this has caused me and my brother to lose jobs, relationships, have pretty bad mental issues, etc. Trying to figure a way to set up a fund for my grandmother because some have wanted to help. Any thoughts would be appreciated

186 I'm sure Breitbart had sufficient life insurance to take care  of his family.  If not, he doesn't deserve martyrship.

187 I wouldn't doubt for a moment that Andrew Breitbart put every available dollar into his mission, and for that I am grateful. I will send a modest donation - what I can afford - to his family, along with a note of thanks. He was the kind of patriot that comes around all too rarely.

Posted by: Travis at March 22, 2012 06:35 AM (/gUgY)

188

Hell yeah, I'll send a donation...  It's the least I can do considering everything he has done to put himself out on the line to expose all the nonsense in his part of the world. Me? I'm just some chick in Ohio trying to understand what the hell is wrong with the east and west coasts of this country -- thank God he was trying to change that. I want to be breitbart!!!

189 Giving money to dead rich people's kids won't make you a better person. Andrew had plenty of money, hell look at that house they live in. Look at the fancy cars they drive, the taxes they pay, the people they employee. Sorry, they're rich, you aren't. It's true. Instead, I choose to send all my virtual love to those kids. They're all stocked up financially. Fact.

Anyone read the police report, the LAPD interview with the last person he spoke with at the bar or autopsy reports? I'm waiting....

He just happened to die hours before he was to release the info with Sherrif Joe and now the new ed-in-chief of Bigs, Ben Shapiro, says "Never mind." (Well, that there wasn't going to be anything released.) And that when Sean Hannity released a tape, it was lame?

Best thing I've seen lately is the postal carrier's interviews. Joe said he was working with Breitbart and that he has "tons more," even tho' Shapiro pretty much said it's over. Hope AB's death is thoroughly investigated  Hope to see more skepticism.
