— Dave in Texas In memory of the 17 US Navy sailors who lost their lives in an attack by Al Qaeda on the USS Cole. The is the Cole Memorial, at Norfolk Naval Station.

We let our guard down or show weakness, this is what they do. Just like last month. Only this time they were thoughtful enough to tell us they were coming.
39 other sailors were injured in the attack. Below the fold, the names of those who perished.

Dear Patriot,
It seems the relentless and overwhelming deluge of negative ads is taking a toll on Allen's campaign.
The Democrats are absolutely determined to destroy every single black conservative running for office this year. We must fight back hard and do it NOW!
While this poll of Allen West's race was conducted by the Democrats, I'm told that other surveys also show that Allen is in the fight of his life.
This is VERY, VERY bad news.
These polls show that a black conservative can be ruined if you simply spend enough on horrible negative attack ads.
We have to help reverse this tide. We must stand up to these smear campaigns. We need to defend Allen West, Tim Scott, Mia Love, and Vernon Parker.
What the Democrats are doing is vile and despicable. But they will keep it up as long as they believe they can win.
For an incumbent like Allen West to be down nine points or even to be tied is a very dangerous sign.
And if the liberals are able to crush good conservatives like Allen West, Tim Scott, Mia Love, and Vernon Parker this year, how many others will be willing to step forward and put themselves and their families through a similar ordeal in the future?
That's what we are fighting for.
Fight back today!

I think it's just gallows humor.
9/11/2009 I was more depressed than I ever had been before (and only have been since on the day the ObamaCare decision was handed down) because it was the first 9/11 anniversary when we had a president who just. didn't. care.
I think contemplating that (again) is just too much- so gallows humor.

According to Joey "giggles" Biden and Barack "I killed Osama" Obama, Al qaeda is no longer a problem. They got Bin Laden. Killed him Dead May 1, 2011. So the same organization that bombed the African embassies in 1998, and attacked the USS Cole in 2000, and attacked NYC and DC on Sept 11, 2001 is no longer a threat. Nevermind that this Al Qaeda is the same jihadist organization that attacked our consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. And according to Lt. Col. Wood is better organized in Libya than we were.
Bin Laden is dead, Al Qaeda is not a threat. Do not tell me otherwise. Do not worry, there is no threat. Barack killed Osama, the head bad guy. Just like in the movies, the threat is over once the head bad guy is dead, and everything is all flowers and puppydogs better.
--- And Cut to Barack and Michelle riding off into the glorious sunset in their 747.
What could go Worng?

All the relentless bad polling and unbelievable media bias was really starting to worry me, until Romney's debate again moved it to 3 to 2.
This week, though, the wheels appear *that* close to coming off the Democrats. Right now I think they have a much better chance of imploding than Romney does.
If he bests President Boo-boo in the next debate, Mitt will come out of it the clear favorite. No matter what Nate Silver says.

------------
That could actually be a huge deal, because if we got to 258 with the Maine vote, that means we could win the thing with just Iowa and Nevada and not have to worry about Ohio, Wisconsin, NH, Penn.
Does anyone know the other two states that split their votes and how the districts are likely to vote? As in, is there a chance we lose an electoral vote or gain another vote from one of thsoe states?

Personaly, I'd love to see ALL States split votes this way... make it a real National Election, not just an election where a few States seem to matter....
ie.... whoever wins the vote total in each district gets that vote, with the overall winner of the State getting the two electoral votes for the Senators... (that way winning a State is a bonus, but not everything...).

I think that qualifies as a "first world problem." But I actually agree with you- someone who would kill their own child is not someone who can be trusted ever again in society. If someone is that dangerous to society, execution, not lifetime imprisonment, is the correct answer.

I'm not going to roll over and let you pass it out to the administration's cronies and deprive Wisconsin of its fair share."

122 Biden's behavior about the stimulus was awful, although Ryan could have done better at rebutting it.
Ryan was getting slapped down by the Dominatrix Moderater, on nearly every rebuttal.
But at least he got the dig in that Biden was "supposed to be looking after it".
One of the really bad things about the Stimulus...was all the govt jobs they created with it.
Those add to the deficit spending, to keep them going.
