3 There are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road, you're on.

That's the part of "Stairway to Heaven" that gives the Satanic message if you play it backwards.

5 Tomorrow's debate scenario: It's 4th and 10 at midfield. They're telling Biden to "punt" and just run out the clock for the entire debate. Biden has other ideas. He's going for it. It's up to Paul Ryan to stop a doddering old fool from making a 1st down.

14 The Los Angeles Police Department has come under criticism from some corners after Chief Charlie Beck announced that hundreds of illegal immigrants arrested by his officers each year for low-level offenses would no longer be turned over to federal authorities for deportation.

“What the LAPD is doing is making federal law enforcement decisions, usurping federal law,” said Janis Kephart, national security policy director at the Center for Immigration Studies. “These policies create chaos where you absolutely need continuity of enforcement.”

But other praised the move.

77 Terrific ad, wish I could post it on Facebook. But all my brown shirt friends will shout me down. A lot of people fall into being liberal because it's kind of a social default in the modern West. They often discover (like Gov. Martinez's speech at the RNC) that when they hear the right person saying the right things that they were conservative all along. And this video is a veritable murderer's row of the right people.

84 I think the ad is fantastic at motivating the base, but if anyone thinks it's persuasive or instills courage in the weak-kneed, I disagree.

There is little point in antagonizing the liberals and moderates that populate much of Facebook. It is a well-known principle of persuasion that after a certain sweet spot, the more your views diverge from those who you are trying to persuade, the less effective you will be.

I think if you had a reaction dial hooked up to most persuadable moderates, it would swing very negative when Glen Beck, Ann Coulter, and Sarah Palin appear. I was a huge fan of Palin in 2008--my happiest moment of the campaign was when McCain picked her--but even I found her voice grating in that montage.

The video is inspirational to those of us who agree with it. But it's not going to persuade fence sitters. It would scare more than it would swing. The appropriate audience is conservatives who don't think Romney is conservative enough, are considering third party, or might otherwise sit this one out. (It's good for ginning up a contribution, too.)

Every day I wish I'd been old enough to hear and understand Ronaldus Magnus' speeches. Those are electrifying, to a one. The fools running the ship of state (aground) need to be vanquished top to bottom. Were I president, my first directive would be to fire everyone in the state department down to the secretaries. Then everyone at the DOJ civil rights division. Mass purges of careerists across all departments would follow.

Hence, I'll never be elected president.

93 from another yahoo article about Biden playing 'hardball" (maybe he'll get a tingle):

The 42-year-old congressman must overcome a lack of foreign policy expertise and experience in national debates, although Democrats praise his encyclopedic grasp of budget details and ability to think on his feet.

"Paul Ryan is an inside Washington guy, smart and wonky. He knows the budget better than anybody," said [idiot from Michigan] Granholm.

Biden is likely to press Ryan to defend Romney's proposals on taxes, Medicare and spending — and seize any opportunity to tie Romney to a House Republican budget written by Ryan. Democrats say the GOP budget contains severe spending cuts unacceptable to most voters.

["encyclopedic grasp of budget details and ability to think on his feet" vs the gaffe machine. should be interesting, right Greg?]

96 I don't like the ad. It starts off good. Damning them with their own words is the way to go in this campaign but when you start mixing in certain conservative pundits and politicians it becomes a much more difficult message to sell to voters, especially people like Coulter, Palin and Beck who I don't think are even widely respected amongst conservatives let lone the wider American public. People will see them and instantly be turned off, partly because of the media treatment and partly because they all have admittedly said some pretty dumb things. Beyond that, the first thing a viewer is going to think is 'bias'. In that sense it is too much like preaching to the choir. The point of any ad surely has to be to project the very legitimate message our side has beyond a right wing echo chamber.
