Ummm... Anti-Obama Film "Obama 2016" Now the Country's Number One Movie?!?!
— Ace

This doesn't seem possible to me -- not because I doubt the movie, but how can a political documentary beat Batman? Or the Expendables 2?

But in fact the film is, for the moment, opening as the country's number one film.

Huh?

Not to step on Obama 2016, but there's another one coming out on DVD too.

Mind-boggling.

Sometimes I think we're at one of those "tipping points" that you always hear about, but they're usually somebody's fantasy.

It's almost like the public is saying, "I'm sick and tired of hearing all this class warfare, socialist, shit, while feeling like I can't say anything against it, because somebody might say I'm racist, and I'm not going to take it any more!"

It's like it's backlash time, where the anger against all the lies and phony claims of racism come out, and suddenly everybody's saying - let's dump this narcissistic loser, and his whacky, senile, old side-kick, too!  We want the Old America back, where you could at least get a job, and TRY to make it in life.

Posted by: AmishDude at August 24, 2012 05:30 PM (xSegX)

92 We just got back from the movie, and here are a couple of observations....

* Obviously, the audience was composed of like-minded people before they drove to the theater to buy a ticket and walk in the door. That said, it is a rare audience that applauds at the end of a movie, and that is what I just saw.

* The movie doesn't even address this, but if the libs think they can demagogue their way into retaining Medicare in it's present form, I think they have another thing coming. The theater where we saw this movie was damned near completely full...we had to sit down near the front. I'm 55, and Mrs. azlib is near that, and most in the audience were at least ten years older than either of us. There'll be no gaining votes by portraying Romney or Ryan as pushing granny off a cliff because these old people know that Medicare is rapidly failing and that there is no way to make it viable for their grandchildren.

And those ......people in the clip for "Hope and Change"?  How pathetic.  Grown adults could be that deluded as to what Obama was about in 2008.

To hear their pathetic lamentations and rationalizations actually makes me feel worse about the country, because they represent so many people that actually have no clue about what people in politics are actually about.  They really expect government to fix all their problems.  When Romney doesn't and some other smooth talking A-hole shows up in 2015 to run as a Democrat, they will go and believe him, too.

I mean this Missouri race with McCaskill and Akin; frankly what a couple of losers.  And one of them will end up being a US Senator, probably McCaskill the dolt gets re-elected.  She is a hapless dunce.  This is our government, and these are the louts we elect.  And the media just wants to pour gasoline on the fire and watch it all burn and laugh about it.

159 144 TM,

Part of the problem is that they fill the role of validation in their lives into the exercise of political suffrage.  They look at the system around them and because they cannot make it work in their frame of understanding they delude themselves into thinking "change" is a valid goal in itself.  Add in the narcissism that it is society as a whole that must change and not you and you fool yourself into thinking you can go through the motions and still gain.

They are dangerous, in the same sense that you don't hand a loaded revolver to a chimp.

What happens next is not the chimps fault but the person handing the chimp the gun.

We have a lot of work to do as a society to undo the damage done to the 16-27 year old population.

190 They did the history of Mormonism (Reader's Digest version).  Wasn't bad.  Told the story of how he was almost killed in a car accident in France and that the police who came to the scene thought he was dead and noted that in his passport.  He was unconscious.  News reached his father and his father had Sargeant Shriver look into what had happened.  They found him in a hospital.  He became more focused on his religion after that.  (The wife of the head of the Mormon church in France was killed in the accident.)

They talked about his joint degree at Harvard in business and law....and how he focused more on business than law, unlike most politicians.

Now they're talking about Bain....so far positively.

Ooops....now they're going negative.

195 Tami: "[Mitt] became more focused on his religion after that." Well, that and his sweetheart Ann started going to BYU and was seen in the company of some hot Mormon jock. Mitt got back to the States and married her tout suite. Actually, it seems sweet. And starting having kids while they were attending Harvard on the proceeds of the AMC stock Mitt's dad gave him as his birthday present every year. It's a good story overall.

197 The Bain stuff wasn't that bad.

They did the story of him taking over the olympics and turning it around.

Now they're talking about winning the governorship of MA.  Used the veto 800 times that were mostly overridden by the legislature.

Interview a dem from the legislature who claims the governorship was just a stepping stone to run for the presidency.

Now healthcare.  They're showing how happy he was to sign it into law.  OY!

Posted by: Tami at August 24, 2012 06:46 PM (X6akg)

198 They have clips of interviews of him 'real time' that they insert throughout the show.  On the healthcare segment, he made sure to say the MA Healthcare was right for THAT state.

"The American people have not had a more distinctive choice between Obama and Romney."  Then they show two clips, one of Obama talking about 'a bottom up economy.'....and Mitt talking about 'restoring America'.

210 Just saw the movie. It is a good movie for the uninitiated. For morons like us there isn't much new in there. It basically details D'Souza's premise that Obama is an anti-colonialist which also means he is anti-American. He makes a good case but HE is also heavily featured in the film so meh on that. I do give him credit for getting this out there in a fairly wide release, that isn't easy.

217 Saw it. I liked it for the most part. It is best described as "The Roots Of Obama's Rage: The Movie" but there are also shout-outs to "The Communist" and to the works of Daniel Pipes.

I didn't mind that D'Souza made himself the co-star but then, I was also born a subject of the British Empire.

I noticed that the movie isn't directed at Americans so much as to pro- Americans. There's almost nothing about, say, Christianity in here; and nor about Americans as an ethnic nation.

D'Souza sees America as an ideal of freedom, and he evangelises that ideal to the (non-Muslim) third-world - especially to Indonesians, Kenyans, and Indians. One jarring note was that he wondered why we weren't doing anything about the "genocide" in Syria.

I picked it up the moment I heard him speaking in the dem primaries.  He made very strange un-American mistakes in his English (both grammatical and weird misunderstandings of common idioms) and even odder un-American mistakes in his historical references.

He reminded me of more than a few foreign friends I've had who grew up in America for their first 4 or 5 years.  They speak English without any accent and can easily be mistaken for Americans at first blush, but as you listen to them you start to identify these odd, little perversions of the language that creep into their talk (though still without any accent).  It's a bit weird as the sound of the English and the structure of it are in such dissonance.  They are clearly foreigners but give the shallow impression of being Americans in their American accents, though it does not extend to their thinking.  My friends shappened to love America, for the most part, but they still did not think like Americans even though they sounded like us on the surface.  Barky was clearly of this sort and it hit me immediately.  Then, looking at where he actually did grow up, what the situation was at the time (funny how no one ever really mentions "The Year of Living Dangerously" when talking about Barky's upbringing, which was only a couple of years earlier in the timeline and is a good movie all on its own) it all became pretty obvious as to how his personality had formed and what it was organized around and directed at.  After that, pretty much everything he said or did made perfect sense in that context.  That's how this has always looked to me.

Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at August 24, 2012 08:52 PM (X3lox)

220 Er ... to clarify, Barky is not of the sort who loves America, obviously, but only the sort of foreign-raised people with foreign thinking who seem to sound American on the surface.   That's what I get for adding bits and pieces to stuff I already wrote.

233 I saw the movie yesterday, at 2:00PM on a Friday in August, at Union Square in NYC, and the there were probably a good 40-50 people in room that could seat about 200. Although most of the audience were 50 and above, there were a couple of people considerably younger than that. And they were black! Afterwards, the audience applauded. Anecdotal at best, but wow. And the movie depressed the shit out of me.

235 Good but can't compare to 2016. If you go to CSPAN and listen to the guy responsible for the 2016 documentary you'll see his documentary is about ideology and a deep penetrating explanation of what Obama believes and will do if re-elected. This DVD is about a bunch of Democrats and Independents who believed hype from Obama in the last election. Like I said there's no comparison although this video would appeal more to liberals who are still cluelessly liberal and have learned nothing about the future, only that they made a mistake this time.

USA! Romney for President!" People in parking lot were still talking about it -loudly- about getting this 'creep' out of OUR White House.  Pretty amazing for the Dem Capitol of one of the bluest states in the nation.  My dream (hallucination?) is to hear Chris Matthews say, "OMG! 245 People are saying #4. The movie apparently has no advertising budget so it's all word of mouth. They say some theater owners aren't taking it. They also say they were stunned. That's the word their using. They say stuff like "I really thought I knew everything and that this would be boring but I really didn't know everything, and it wasn't boring". They describe a real punch in the last 20 minutes. I wasn't going to go see it, now I might. Just before it came out in more theaters people online were starting threads in various places saying they weren't going to the movies cause of what happened in Colorado. Questioning if it could happen with this movie. It seemed like some sort of coordinated effort and it might have had an impact. The real trick will be to get the lib/dems to go see it. I've offered to pay for some of my friends to go with me, they are still thinking about it. They "don't want to be disloyal to barack"...I have to figure out a way to convince them to come with me.

Saw 2016 today with my wife. Granted, a lot of the audience (3/4 full, early showing) were older citizens - like myself - who are concerned about the future for our offspring. And we were shocked about the potential for distruction this administration poses. After the showing, in the lobby, the anger was palpable -- and the comments that I heard were in particular aimed at the ignorant, gullible folks who got taken in  by this poser and put him in office. This is not an anti-Obama film, but simply  a how-it-happened guide. One can almost feel sorry for Obama- he was guided and misguided by incredibly wrong-thinking, mean and confused individuals from the beginning. It's too late for him, that die is cast- but it is obvious he can no longer even be considered in a seat of influence.

See this movie, and recommend it to everyone you know.  Heaven help us.

Just saw obama 2016 with my husband, we're 50 ish.  I am in NH (home of some of the Free Staters John Stossel mentions).  The screening room is small but it was pretty full, actually counted around 100 people for 4:15 showing. Most were over 55, a couple of younger couples seen & actually about 6 20 to 30 yr olds.  There was an audible laugh when Pelosi said "We have to pass it to see what's in it".  It is well done & moves along decently.  Yeah, we do learn that Barry is a Marxist, his mom, grandparents were too.  His gramp got him hooked up with Frank Marshall Davis in hawaii, as a black mentor for  him, Davis is/was a Commie too.  Seems Barack was fed all this gushing praise for his Dad from his mom.  Surprising she would do this considering he married her & committed bigamy as he had a wife in kenya and 2 kids.  So barack had this admiration & longing for the absent father.  And the father was a rabid anti colonialist, hated the UK & all countries like it & considers out beloved US in the same vein. They mentioned Baracks "spreading the wealth not only applies to US citizens BUT he believes THAT globally the wealth of the US needs to be spread to other nations.  Proving this is his shooting down of the Canada pipe line, he wants us to get our oil from other countries so our wealth flows to them & we are bound to them due to out oil needs.  He has even taken US tax monies & gifted it to Brazil & Mexico to search for oil & SELL IT BACK TO US !!!!  When we financed getting it !!!!! People clapped when it finished, something you don t often come across these days.
