Wednesday Morning News Dump [Ben]
— Open Blogger

Personal Bleg: We're 41 days out from the election. What are you doing to help our side win? Are you making phone calls? Donations? Going door to door? Have you contacted your local Republican committee to see what you can do to help? Google "_________(Your Counties Name) Republican Committee". Call them. Ask what you can do to help. Make sure that if we lose in November, you can say to yourself, " I did everything I could to prevent Obama from winning."

Same BS by our side last cycle (0 , not sure how the 10 polls looked.

It will not be the apocalypse if Obama wins. It will be rough, but come 2016 the Republicans will have an all star cast. The Democratic shave no one for 2016 that can live up to the Obama hype.

Let's focus on 2014 and 2016 and finally have a Conservative government.

24 Regarding this rigged media polls, here's what I don't understand.

I believe the media is using biased samples and D+bazillion electorate models to put Obama in the best light.

So why don't they just take the next step and completely fabricate the survey answers.  Perhaps they are doing this already, but I've not seen them put out a poll that says "Obama is up 6 points with a D+0 weighting" or somesuch.  You'd think they'd try to pull that.

I'm also told that the local campaign has no idea when yard signs will be available. Sweet God, I want The One defeated, but can the Romney campaign be this disorganized at this late date? Obama is reliving his hype. That's why he will win. Romney refuses to attack Obama or run good campaign ads. He is allowing Obama to play the role of the cool hip man that people fell in love with in 08. Look at the Dem field for 2016, they have no one who can match Obama's cultural appeal. Plus the country will be an even bigger wreck by then. Let's be patience and try our best for 12. But let's lay the groundwork for 14 and 16.

I am spending all day Saturday at the Romney Victory HQ making phone calls.  I have donated to Romney, Tom Smith for Senate, and Mike Fitzpatrick for Congress.

BTW, a new poll in PA has Bobby Casey leading in his Senate race by only a couple of points!  There is no way this race could be that close unless Romney is also close in PA.  Casey and Obama are joined at the hip and Smith's ads have been relentlessly attacking the "Obama-Casey agenda."

Shit's getting real in PA.  I'm really looking forward to doing my calling this weekend and seeing what people are saying.  I've seen a grand total of two Obama yard signs in my area and it was covered with them in 2008.

Stop exaggerating about this end of the GOP. A defeat means we will have to clean house and moderanize the Party. No more of the Akin,/Santorum types and no more of the Bush/McCain/Romney types. Absolutely.    I tend to think that Obama's shameful showing at the UN this week, coupled with his refusal to meet with foreign leaders (including Bibi) while making time for "The View,"    is NOT polling well.    And if the unemployment numbers that are due out at the end of teh week are bad -- and are they ever NOT? -- that's going to be an   even bigger blow.

I won't go into all their nefarious acts as my post will end up being too long. The Romney campaign, while not perfect (what is), is a breath of fresh air compared to the McCain hey-let's-help-Obama-win campaign. Romney has been quite impressive and I'm sure has surprised a lot of us who weren't in his camp during the primaries. Let us buck up and do what it takes for him to win this. We can do it. Economically Fiscal Libertarian leaning Conservatives are given the shaft. Guess what, most Americans are like us. If the Republican tries that appeal, they would win every time.

If Obama's followers were so confident, why are they trolling right leaning websites?

We haven't even had a debate yet people. Sit back, relax, take a deep breath. Shit's going to blow up in October. We have three debates and one VP debate.

I will be watching the VP debate with a bottle of jergens and a towel as most of you will be.  Don't forget that Romney crushed Newt in the Florida debate and Newt is a far better at debates than Obama.

Also, Romney is going to make it rain in swing states starting in October. They've got the money. If you keep asking why aren't they spending it? I'll tell you. The people that haven't made up their mind don't start paying attention until the last 4-5 weeks. If they were the type of people who watched the news and read political sites, then they would have already made up their minds.

The first debate will be the first time a lot of Americans have seen or heard Romney speak for himself. It won't be edited into clips that the media favors. He will have a chance to speak directly to the American people.

Shrewd,  or coincidental,  use of "savage" and "respect".  Geller v. Obama and Muslim Brotherhood

The concern-fu is strong in this one if that's what's going on.  Personally, if I was buying bus ads, I would have used Islamic supremacist, Islamic imperialist, or theocratic fascist, something to engage New Yorks liberal useful idiots on their own terms.

However, jihadis are in fact savage.  So....   Your point really?

You know how they justified this claim? By stating that home prices are up to the same levels they were nine years ago.

The housing market cannot recover until foreclosure inventory is sold, and the job market improves. Folks don't buy houses when they're sweating job security. Oh and it would help if the banks would loosen up the lending, which they show no signs of doing.

221 202 Dude, Nicklaus weighed in for Romney? Man I've always liked that guy. Real class act. Posted by: Burn the Witch at September 26, 2012 10:39 AM (eoedh) ------- Yep. Golf legend Jack Nicklaus added some star power to Mitt Romney's campaign today, encouraging Ohio voters to elect the Republican as a way to restore America's greatness. The Golden Bear, winner of 18 major championships, was on hand as Romney's bus tour crisscrossed the crucial swing state. No Republican has ever won the presidency without carrying Ohio. Nicklaus, one of Ohio's favorite sons, told the audience in Westerville that when he travels the world, people "want us to be like the America we were." Nicklaus said Romney would bring "a real recovery" to the American economy and restore America's standing around the globe.

232 What am I doing for "our side"? I'm passing the below link around. Because the man is right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R4KtYVF-74 The number one argument against Obama is Obamacare. The Republicans have chosen the one man who can not make that argument (and, in fact, has not been making it). Obama has never passed or even proposed a gun control bill. Romney has signed one. Obama's trillion dollar deficits are the only things that have kept every major bank in the USA from going bust in the wake of the housing crisis that has still not been correctly cleaned up, just kicked down the road (follow the debt charts; Karl Denninger's been over this transfer from one balance sheet to another quite a few times). Romney the Wall Streeter, regardless of his personal generosity and kindness to his employees, will not be the man who cracks down on the corruption and shady dealing among his pals. Finally, we now have a track record. Obama, with 4 more years in office, will play a lot of golf, assassinate Mideasterners with drones, refuse to fight Israel's wars for it, and go on TV to get interviewed about how great he is. He will also not fix the economy. As Romney won't either - since he refuses to so much as mention financial corruption and avoids talking about health care - but he has demonstrated at his convention that he's a control freak who can't tolerate dissent, there really is absolutely no reason to lift a finger in Romney's favor. I live in Virginia. If Mr. Romney wants to change my opinion, there are things he can do that he has studiously avoided doing.

I could spot the swooners in the long, long, long lines who could not wait to be a "part of history that they could tell their children and grandchildren about"!

___

This key point is so often overlooked, the significant contribution that voter narcissism played in the 2008 election. Since we now have devolved into an "It's All About Me!!" society, people who had never even voted made sure they registered and showed up election day so they could "Be A Part Of History".

What are they going to do this time around, vote to celebrate the fact that they're underwater on their mortgage and their 20something kids had to move back in due to chronic unemployment?

255 I saw Romney on the Today Show this morning. I see why he is having trouble connecting. He is so wonky and technical. He actually speaks quite intelligently. But in a way that a professor would appreciate, not the average stupid voter. And certainly doesn't connect on an emotional level. I'm a little afraid of the debates now. If he can't come across as a little more compassionate, he won't benefit much from the debates.

Good luck with the "all the polls are lies" message.

See the Examiner: http://tinyurl.com/d6jr2u4

One poll might be wrong some of the time, but it is hard to believe that all of the pollsters are wrong all of the time.

Polling is both an art and a science, and the pollsters have all found ways to improve their craft over time by using tools such as sampling adjustments. The critics may be right in saying that “this poll” or “that poll” could be wrong, but it is implausible to suggest that all the polls are wrong.

Consider the polls taken before the 2008 election. When averaging the results of all the pollsters, using the Real Clear Politics average, the pollsters correctly predicted the winner in 49 out of 50 states. That is 95 percent success rate. The one state where pollsters got it wrong was North Carolina, where the RCP average gave McCain a 0.4 percentage point lead, but Obama won by 0.4 percentage points instead. Still, the pollsters predicted a very tight race in North Carolina, and that is exactly what happened. In the key swing states, like Florida, the RCP average often came within one or two points of the actual percentages on Election Day.

The RCP averages currently show Obama ahead in nine out of the ten key swing states. In many of the states all of the pollsters have Obama ahead, which means that every pollster would have to wrong in order for the critics to be right.

Even Rasmussen Reports, the pollster commonly favored by conservative critics, has Obama ahead in Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Nevada. In order accept the criticsÂ’ contention, namely that the pollsters all are wrong and manipulating their numbers to help Obama, one must accept that Scott Rasmussen (a man whose polling organization is infamously known to favor  Republican candidates) is purposefully or negligently cooking his numbers to put Obama up in these states.

257 @74 I think you underestimate the damage that will be done.  If BO gets in it will mean a collapse of the Republic.  Let me explain because I am sick of this, "well there is still 2016" BS!

Right now we are 16 trillion in the hole with trillions more in unfunded promises.  Ben B is printing 40 billion a month of monopoly money, "until the economy improves".  Our credit rating has already been downgraded once with the possibility of another downgrade coming soon. If the rest of the world sees America vote in 4 more years of clown Obama, we will be seen, and rightly so, as another Greece.  All it will take is for ONE country to dump all its dollars, other countries will quickly follow suit and we will be hit with inflation that would impress the Kaiser!

End of game, good buy Republic, it was a good run while it lasted.

258 41 As a dirty furriner, what are the legal ways I can help? Do I need to be a US citizen to be a poll watcher?

I don't think you need to be a U.S. citizen to be a poll watcher, though you might need to be one to be a poll worker.  I would say, contact your local GOP office and ask where they can best use your help.

Good for you, BTW!  I hope that all the rest of us Morons and Moronettes will follow your example and find something to to do to help.

I can tell you one thing I did when I was a teenager:  On election night, my friends and I used to drive senior citizens to the polls.  Dunno if anyone's still doing that in these less innocent days, though...
