Mine? I'm not a prepper, per se. I don't store a lot of food, water, and ammo. It's my firm belief that a good library can get you through anything. When all the electronics fail and you're wondering how to grow food, for example, just turn to your library.

What are your plans?

My doomsday plan is the same as my retirement plan has always been, since I was knee-high to a grasshopper: die before it happens.

Remember, with all this talk of doomsday and economic collapse, that we're the United Fuckin States of America.
The investment we've made in the military is the ultimate defense of our way of life. When the world is starving, we will have food. When the world doesn't have fuel, we'll still be warm and mobile.
When you have the ability to make the rules, our country can "buy" goods from every other country and pay with our currency regardless of how worthless it is. If the other countries want something in exchange for their dollars, they need to come here and buy whatever the fuck it is that we're selling.
As Mel Brooks said in a movie, "It's good to be King". When you have the power, you're king.

In a word? BOHICA.
There's nothing the GOP can do if the Senate won't vote on a bill.
If the MSM were honest, they'd lay the impending sequestration squarely at the feet of Reid and Obama.
Needless to say, they won't.

"We", in this context, would be the armed citizenry that whoever is in power would like to keep placated by making sure they are fed, warm and happy.

In the Tacoma area, we are going to have an awesome semi-formal to formal party in a proper ball room for 400 of our closest friends (basically, anyone who buys a ticket). The band's name- get this- is the TOWERING INFERNO ORCHESTRA. You just can't have a better End of the World Ball than that.
(In case the world doesn't end, we are also collecting for Toys For Tots, with the USMCR on site to receive donation. Hooah!)

Seriously? I strive for a three-month, at-home, on-our-own scenario. I don't own a secret bunker in the woods, I don't entertain elaborate fantasies of what I will do as Hero Of The Wasteland, and I don't get wrapped up in Illuminati conspiracy theories. What I do is stock up on essentials: water, food, ammo, and other essentials. If whatever the Bad Thing is lasts for more than three months, I figure me and mine would be better off on the move, anyway. There can be no meticulous, detailed plan. There can, however, be a strategy.
So am I a prepper? Maybe, if the term is inclusive of those who make sensible preparations for extended emergencies. I do know when bad things happen, they happen in a hurry and even later one can rarely pinpoint the exact moment when the bad thing arrived. I can feel the tracks vibrating and know a train's coming. I just can't say when.

Anyone else watch 'Doomsday Preppers' on tuesday night?
This episode was about NYC dwellers making plans to 'bug out' of the city in the event of a disaster.
That was their goal...to get out of the city.
Then what? What do they think they're going to find when they get out of the city?
It's like these people thought that there was going to be some big paradise waiting for them...if they could just make it out of the city.

There are two camps....Doomsayers and Bloomsayers.
The Bloomsayers think that this Galactic Alignment that is happening, will usher in a new age.
One of the theories is that we will gradually begin to be able to use more of our brains, and develop new 'powers'.
I like this theory.
This Galactic Alignment happens every 26,000 years.
People who were around for the last one didn't leave records of what happened the last time.
At least...not any records that we've found yet.
But anyway, the theory is...that ancient people who were around 26,000 years ago, used to be able to use a lot more of their brains.
But as time went by, they lost these abilities.
Having watched what has happened in this country in just the last 3 decades...it's easy to see how this could happen.

Oh, so you know her? LOL.
We were in Home Depot once, on adjoining aisles. Some guy walks up to her and in a rather loud voice used the Never-Fail Pickup Line, "So, does the carpet match the drapes?" People's jaws just dropped, including mine. She just smiled sweetly at him and in the same volume replied, "There is no carpet. My boyfriend installed hard wood", and strolled away with about 12 people standing there laughing at the clown.

Depends on who you're marauding, I suppose. From a self-preservation point-of-view, I think friendly cooperation and attempts at civilized behavior would be the better long-term survival strategy, as opposed to murdering and robbing strangers. Moral considerations aside, the more one initiates and engages in acts of violence, the greater one's odds of dying violently. Bandits and other scumbags aren't known for their longevity.
