Instapundit links a story that Hillary is staying as far as physically possible from Charlotte.

But then a reader speculates that that is just a smokescreen, and that the big surprise of the convention will be a Hillary-for-Biden VP swap.

Meanwhile, Reuters has Romney's favorables improving, but without any bounce in the head-to-head.

But in James Carville's Democracy Corps poll, Romney has a huge 54-38 lead with independents (16 points!).

Oddly enough, that poll puts Obama ahead by two skinny points, 49-47.

He is obviously counting on a near-2008 level of Democratic turnout. I don't buy that. And no one seems to be thinking of a big right-leaning turnout.

21 Dumping Biden at this point would be seen as weakness in that it would imply The One isn't perfect and made a mistake.  His ego would never allow it.

My money is still on announcing an end to efforts by Federal law enforcement to go after pot.  The message to the youth/college/stoner set will be unmistakable:  If I'm reelected and this policy continues for four years it will never be undone, pot will be forever legal; but if you sit on your ass and eat Cheetos Romney will undo this before it really gets started so get fired up and drag my ass over the finish line.

What other major faction has yet to receive a major lawless inititive?  Kinda obvious he is holding a big one back to get some buzz at the convention.  So it is either that or a lame student debt forgiveness for 'public service' scheme.

It seems like Obama is just so weak, he has nothing to run on but negatives and yet the polls show Obama as close to Romney. Is it the polls themselves and if so why are most polls still showing him as close? Is it the power of the media to prop up Obama and run cover for him? I just don't understand it, in a general sense partisanship aside it doesn't feel like it should be this close without over sample Democrats but a giant margin.

Remarks at the gas pump.

Ask those Democratic friends if their kid/sister/uncle found a new job yet.  Slip in a Hopefully if Romney is elected, we will get the Keystone Pipeline, new power plant or something similar in their area. 

If they are republican, suggest that they work for a campaign, point out the networking possibilities. 

 

Get them thinking that Romney will be better for them and the country.

56 There isn't going to be a VP swap - remember the only reason Obama picked a dim bulb like Biden is because Biden is completely non-threatening to him.  For Obama to pick anyone else is to (1) admit failure in his original choice (which he can't do), and (2) then pick someone who is actually competent, which again he cannot do.

However, having been a supporter of Romney from the get-go, I remember feeling alone in the wilderness on the conservative blogs, to the point where I had to stop reading some of them (I'm looking at you- AmSpec, Allah, Professor Jacobsen, et.al.) because their disdain for Romney was SO vitriolic and harsh. My worry is that, as I've seen with some commenters on these blogs, we may only be seeing a preference cascade on our own side, where people who would never vote for Obama are finally settling in with Romney. If you read the comments on Hot Air today, you would never know that the Romney supporters were very few and very far between only a few short months ago. Although I think the cascade is coming, I think it is somewhat premature to assume that it extends as far as we wish to believe it does currently. We've got to keep pushing the cascade out beyond our own borders. As a first step, if you know any college kids or young adults, send them the link to that Invisible Obama video. It's priceless!!

Her best bet is to do exactly what that article the other day said she will do: leave the administration, rest up, get healthier (i.e., lose the saddle bags and dark circles under her eyes, and hope the Romney administration doesn't have time to correct Obama's mistakes before the next election.

I forget which squadron it was, but their CO  came to one  of our final formations and gave us some great compliments with a "we'll kick your ass next time"  threat with a big grin.

Unlikely, but I do want to see pictures, even pictures of her dancing in garish costumes, on location in Asia, with other American officials, for the next week.  And if by chance she hops in an SR71 and crashes the convention to become the Veep, she will be so worn-out and haggard that whatever shock value Obama gets will not be what was intended.  Then again,  the way things have been blowing back on him, VP Hillary may be exactly what Barry is plotting.  Then again, again, the whole thing really falls apart when Mooch and ValJar are factored in.
